another Little Tombstone Mystery by Celia Kinsey in this one the old curmudgeonly Hank Edwards is getting married...But is he already married?? so it would seem as his ex wife comes to town to stop a wedding and to stop Hank from becoming a bigamist...Only to find out Hank is legally divorced and once more legally married the crazy antics continue with the whole crew in this cute short novelette.
...are favorites of mine. Celia Kinsey's wit and humour are just a hoot to read. Short and sweet, they tend to leave you thirsty for more. This is the third in the series I've read. Love the pug character. Typical elderly pug behavior. Great fun cozy read!!
This is part of a cozy Mystery series. Since it is very short, the Mystery is not a murder, but there is some questions that have to be solved. The characters are pretty strange and the whole thing is a little off best but it did make me want to read more of the series so good job.
Another hilarious adventure with Emma and the gang. It’s a really short story but has a lot of action. Hank is getting married finally to Phyllis. But when he is sporting a black eye, Emma has to figure out who did it and why. Enjoyed the whole series. Anxiously awaiting the next book.
I got the first book as a freebie and looking at the cover I didn’t have high hopes for it. Boy, was I wrong!! Love the characters, the town and the interactions. I was disappointed that most were just stories and not full length books. I can only hope she will continue this series and make them into books. Well worth reading.
This is the first book that caused me to laugh so hard my husband insisted I read it to him. He was laughing too. I've never read one like it. It's really short so grab it and add some laughter to your day!
Totally not plausible. I appreciate quirky characters but this seems a bit overboard. It is clean however. If you can enter into this world you may enjoy it more than I did.
A funny mystery, mis-understandings and a good who story is true! A wedding that was almost halted, for the wrong reasons. Quirky charactors! I am going back to read the 1st two stories before I go forward.
A really funny short story, loved the animals, the wedding service and the cannon. Writing is excellent. I will be reading more from this author. I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is a voluntary review
It's not that I didn't enjoy this; it was just very short. The mystery wasn't quite a mystery as such. It was just a case of the heroine being nosy. LOL. I'm really hoping her like isn't unrequited for much longer.
Short story but definitely funny. Phyllis and Hank are getting married and his ex-wife shows up planning to disrupt the wedding believing she is still married to him. It's a comedy of errors.
The residents of Little Tombstone have a patchwork of personalities that combine in a storyline that had me either shaking my head in amazement or laughing aloud. How many weddings have a pug, a pig, a cannon, and a kidnapping? What a fun read!
4 book in the series, i am trying to recall if this author is new or just reminds me of someone else??! such a cute book cover. fun read. i love mysteries .. cozy mysteries. loved these characters. i will read more from this series and this author.
I love Emma and the Little Tombstone gang! The critters included! This short story has a hint of a hint about the next book, but it only makes me more eager to read #5. Action, humor, and community. Great fun!
I loved this short story! Funny, slightly mysterious, and good characters. Even though I did read the previous books to this it was easy to follow. Well done!
A short interlude with the quirky characters of Little Tombstone
I’ll admit that I have not read the first few books in the Little Tombstone series. I picked this book up on a promotion, and didn’t realise that it was not the first book until I started reading it. Aside from not mentioning the main character’s name, or indeed anything about her, until near the end of the book, Kinsey did a good job of describing the characters and the setting for a new reader.
The characters are definitely the strong point of this story. They are all quirky and well-realised, which leads naturally to the chaos which forms the mystery part of the story. This is not really a traditional cozy mystery. There’s no murder, or even a major crime to be solved. There’s no main character who has to clear her (or a friend’s) name. There’s not even a handsome but oblivious cop to raise the sexual tension. What we get instead is a crazy story of a wedding balancing on the edge of disaster while nosey main character Emma digs into secrets that nobody else seems bothered by.
The writing is clear and well-edited. The characters are fun, and the setting is intriguing. The only thing which lets this book down is the mystery. If it had been positioned as a comedy, it would easily be worth full marks, but as a cozy mystery I was left wanting more of a puzzle. I did enjoy this book, though, and will keep a look out for more from Ms Kinsey in the future.
