~Books, wine and a spicy good time ~

DL Gallie writes spicy romance with elements of comedy and suspense. She currently lives in Central Queensland, Australia, her husband and two teenagers. She and her husband have been together since she was sixteen, and although they drive each other crazy at times, she couldn’t imagine her life without him.

Shortly after her son was born, DL began reading again. With encouragement from her husband, she picked up the pen and started writing. Almost ten years later and the voices in her head won’t shut up.

DL enjoys listening to music, drinking white wine in the summer, red wine in the winter, and beer all year round. She’s also never been known to turn down a cocktail, especially a margarita.

Antecedent by D.L. Gallie is a short but sweet, feel good read about two people who's love knows no bounds. A story that will bring out the romantic in anyone with an interesting twist that immediately caught my attention. Nate Winters and Bailey Becket are the epitome of soul mates with one glance being all it takes. Nothing and no one is more important than these two being together, despite others doing their best to keep them apart.

As cute as Antecedent is, oh how I wish there were more pages to the story. I felt there was so much that could have happened but wasn't given the chance. As much as I love and believe in love at first sight I wanted more of Nate and Bailey, especially after the initial meet. William was also someone I wanted more of. I get what his role is supposed to be but to me he just fell short. There were other secondary characters but none truly had anything to do with the storyline. All in all this was a nice fluff read and a great change of pace with a storyline I don't see enough of in the book world.

Nate and Baileys story pulled at my heart strings.

No matter what time in there lives they always found eachother.

The love connect was so strong that in there dreams they even found out eachother.

They had many obstacles standing in there way. First was her father then there was Mr Clayton that thought he was hot stuff and he was the only one that deserved Bailey but she had different ideas and each time the outcome was the same. She LOVED Nate and that was it.

Great story

Such a unique storyline, regardless of preferred genre or troupe we can all agree a great love story is never wrong. This love story was that, a love so strong and "written in the stars" that can transcend time is a love I want to read about. Great writing and story telling.

Nate dreamed of a woman he loved more than life itself, and a life together that transcended time. How else would he find himself in clothes of another era and boarding the Titanic with her of all things considering he knows how well that voyage turned out? His grandfather wouldn’t have existed in 1912, let alone Nate, but everything feels so real.

Bailey works hard at her job tending bar, but when she hands a new patron his beer, the room swirls and suddenly she’s grooving to bands her grandmother used to listen to – on a record player of all things. And then she sees him, the man she’s just met at the bar, only he doesn’t seem like a stranger. With his long hair, loose clothes and free love vibe, Nate feels like everything good in the world has found its way to her heart and soul once again.

But for both Nate and Bailey, a darkness dwells in the pasts they’re sure can’t be their own. A hatred that spans time and life itself, and a man who’s determined the next time Nate’s and Bailey’s lives entwine, there will be no coming back.

I enjoyed the way the characters travelled through time and lived lives so different to the ones they knew while the one thing that stayed constant was the love they had for each other. I also like the way other characters remained in the background but changed relationship status to the main characters. While I don’t know much about the Titanic era, Woodstock, from Bailey’s point of view made me feel like I was there as I have an interest in the music from that time. It was completely engaging. This story is high on the raunchy factor, so if you like your stories extra steamy, get reading. :)

I love this expanded edition of Antecedent. The shorter novella was originally part of a charity anthology and the author has expanded Nate and Bailey's timeless love story. The new story moves from the Titanic story set in the UK to the United States. The author does an excellent job of linking their love story through different eras. Along with their ongoing love story comes the antagonist who tries in each life to break them up, William.
William hates Nate, but he's not a good man, so while he constantly warns Bailey away from Nate, when he is the one she should steer clear of. This novella has all the feels: friendship, loss, passion, hatred, and love. I enjoyed reading this novella. It reinforces the idea that love transcends time and lasts forever.

Nate Winters and Bailey Becket were loved each other with just one look. They have this unexplainable connection. The only thing standing in the way of their happiness is William Clayton. He has a profound hatred for Nate and will do anything to ruin his life including using Bailey to make it happen.

Will their love be able to stand the test of time or will William get his way and the girl?

Nate and Bailey were destined to always be together. This is a story of their love reincarnated in each era they found each other. This is a tale of love and the concept that true love transcends time and defies the obstacles and conflicts of time and circumstances. I think there could have been more to this story, more substance and back story but it still told a good story. It was a good story for a rainy afternoon waiting on a hurricane.

This was a quick and exquisitely sweet story of all encompassing love, the kind of love you sigh about and melt for. The concept is unique and surprising, always wondering where the author will take you next. Their journey is romantic, difficult at times and emotional. When they embraced, you felt it...when they kissed, you knew their love would stand the test of time. The epilogue was heartwarming, ending on the perfect note.

This story has an intriguing concept and it was one I was very excited to read. However, I often felt lost and confused while reading, which took away from the story.
Bailey and Nate have a big, wonderful story to tell but I think they need a bigger book to do so properly.
