A recent discovery of fossils right before a wine festival held at the local vineyard has everyone's tail wagging. Digging up these bones is a big boon for business...until the owner is found murdered and it lands everyone in bad dog territory.
Nothing smells right about the investigation. Chief Reed is forced to cede jurisdiction to a sketchy sheriff who has Naomi's hackles up at every turn, and when Naomi's friend--the owner's daughter--is dragged in for questioning during the wake, Naomi knows she has some digging of her own to do.
With the deceased owner's will missing and the fate of the vineyard at stake, can Naomi get to the bottom of the murder or will her investigation end up buried along with the victim?
The third book in the southern, small town Naomi & Winston Mystery series, No Bone About It contains no adult situations or gore, only fun and high jinks as the heroine solves mysteries and chases behind her perpetually confused, endearingly curious, and continuously chatty Chihuahua. This story has a light paranormal element.
Mary and Winston save the day! Mary's, eh.., I mean Naomi's shop is in full swing. Her family is also in full swing. With a 'team Chief' and a 'team Doc' they totally not try to influence her love life. Luckily there is donuts, wine and a juicy murder to distract her from the two handsome men around her. This is the first book I've read in this series but I was able to understand where this book started. Naomi is a pet groomer who can talk to animals apparently after she was struck by lightening. She and Chief Alistair Reed go on a "date" to the reopening of a local vineyard. It went well until Naomi stumbled upon a body. The victim was the owner of the vineyard. Since Alistair can't get involved officially, she and her friend, Jolene, along with her dog Winston (who calls everybody "Mary" ) investigate. I will be looking forward to the next book.
Naomi attends a wine tasting event with Alastair when circumstances have Naomi finding a body. As she and Winston investigate, complicated motivations surface along with numerous suspects. However, the sheriff seems to be focusing on the wrong suspect and causes problems for the Chief. I have loved these characters and Naomi’s special ability since book 1 and this series is getting better and better.

Naomi can talk to animals, especially Winston. Along with a friend and Winston, they sort out the clues to how a vineyard owner died (she found him during a wine tasting). The plot line was great and the characters are wonderful. Fun banter and situations throughout the story keep it lighthearted. Will definitely keep reading stories from this author.
