Throughout the reading of this book, I wavered between feeling it merited 3 or 4 stars.

Before getting into why I marked it down, it is important to note that the loving energy and positivity present in Perry’s writings is magnificent and powerful. There were many elements of this book that I resonated with and enjoyed; especially the fact that we must all do the work to be open, conscious, and loving (said in many ways and many examples are given).

However, my first dislike was the trademarking of the term Celestial Shamanism. I feel that attempting to own an energetic concept is not right. There are many factors to shamanism that I believe are not included in this book, and so to prevent the term from use and growth by others put me off immediately.

Secondly, I was extremely disappointed by the use of bible quotes as fact and support. There were no other religious texts quoted (though many random people were, including some Instagram accounts). I believe Celestial Shamanism will incorporate all religions and all spiritual processes on this planet and dimension. It will not choose a more western philosophy to cater to, and there will be countless celestial shamans who are capable of working with energy and spiritual physics who do not even believe in “god” (that entity could just be a higher dimensional being we do not understand at the moment). Calling the collective “Christ Consciousness” is not right- it should be inclusive of all peoples.

The last thing that bothered me was the extreme amount of typos in this book. If they were intentional, to trigger growth, as was mentioned in the beginning (that there would be light language dropped in)- it felt that could be done in a smoother way and not via typos. I picked up on many skips in the lines/letters of the page; as in it was printed incorrectly. But I have a feeling this was intentional.

All in all, this was a positive book that seeks growth and happiness and I truly support those views. I just believe it could have been more inclusive, and less centered on Perry’s life (it felt more autobiographical than relaying basic ideas and notions). I DO suggest this book! It will give you many helpful ideas about opening your perceptions.
