RULES

#BROOKANDMAX4EVER

Five FIRECRACKER stars for Brook and Max 💚💚💚!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I finally had the chance to read "Rules", Brook and Max's story, which I was waiting for since book one.

And I got more than expected.

I cannot without comparing this book with the first book "Lines" from the series "Greyford High".

Not because "Lines" was bad and this one was brilliant.

It's because if you've read both of them you can see how the characters became mature and how Anna's writing style got the next level.

I love her writing style since "Lines".

It's simple and beautiful.

Everything that one YA book needs to be.

But, with this book, she really surprised me.

The first half of the book was like I used to.

But, the second half of the book shocked me because I never thought she would write about some themes.

She put some things I didn't expect and that happened.

Because I always get some opinion about how some writer writes, already from the first book I read by them.

And she/he continues writing in that way other books.

But, not Anna.

She put in her book something I didn't expect and I loved it so much!

"Rules" is so emotional young adult romance book that will make you laugh but also make cry in some moments.

Brook and Max' s relationship is a really slow burn.

First, they were enemies, then they became friends and after so many ups and downs they finally got their happily ever after.

Their story is complex and heartbreaking that shattered my heart in thousands of pieces, countless times.

Brook is definitely my favorite female character from "Greyford High" because she had that three "rules" which are exactly the same rules I have too in my life but from some other reasons.

I love her wish to become better than her mother.

Her persistence to get that no matter how hard that would be.

Max is so different from my current book boyfriends because at first, he gave the impression of the bad boy but when I started reading his story I got another impression.

He is so far away from the bad boy.

He is so sensitive to his twin sister and he would do everything to see her happy.

And that is something you can't see every day.

Yes, brothers in books are always protected when it comes that their sisters have boyfriends and in the most the case that usually these boyfriends are brothers' best friend/friend.

But, Max's unconditionally love there was before Jeanette and Andrew's relationship.

The same goes for his feelings for Brook.

No matter how many times she pushed him away, he was always there to protect.

Only that one time, when both of their worlds fell apart.

I also read the bonus scene I was so happy how it all turned out.

And for being honest I would be disappointed if that different ended (for the one who has read this book, they know what I am talking about).

I would be happy if Anna will write another bonus scene to show us, how the lives of the Greyford family turn out after they all went to college.

If you're looking for a YA romance series that will bring out of you each of your emotions and also will make you laugh, then "Greyford High" is you next MUST TO READ series!

Highly recommended!!!

LINES:
This was a cute new adult, enemies to lovers romance.

Amelia is a shy girl that is picked on at school. It's bc of her nemesis Derek King - the guy that caused her heartache 10 years ago when they were in elementary school.
It's senior year and there's a new guy in town, Max. He's showing Amelia attention that no guy has ever shown and Derek doesn't like it.

This is a cute start to the GHS series.
Be warned, if you are looking for hot and steamy, this isn't the book for you. (But stay tuned bc the next two are much steamier!)

HABITS:
"Eyes on me, Princess."

I fell so hard for this book and these characters! This is a beautiful story that was beautifully written.

Both Andrew and Jeanette were introduced in Lines. Andrew is the alpha asshole that every girl wants but he is a one and done kind of guy.

Jeanette is cold to anyone and everyone and doesn't allow anyone past her frozen walls.

In Habits, we learn more about what makes them act the way they do.

Both of these two are stubborn and they are both broken. They are holding onto a world of hurt all by themselves because of the choices they made.  They are afraid to take risks because of their pasts.

These two are so frustrating at times and so delicate in other times. One minute I want to hug them and the next I want to strangle them. They both have such strong personalities.

One of the things I like about this series is the distinction between the characters. The couples are not carbon copies from book to book. They each have their own personalities, their quirks, and the stories follow suit.

If you love young adult romance, you NEED to read this book!

RULES:
This has been one of my most anticipated reads! I have been wanting Max and Brook's story since Lines, the first in there series, and Anna B. Doe did not disappoint!

Max fell for Amelia but she chose someone else. Max is a good guy that wants to fix the rift between him and his sister, Jeanette, and also nurse his broken heart. Yet, this snarky girl keeps diverting his attention. That snarky girl? Brook, Amelia's best friend.

Brook is blunt, snarky and has a closet full of secrets. She protects her heart with everything that she has except people have a way of making her break her own rules she's set in place to protect herself.

I don't have the words to say how great this story is! It's raw, it's heartbreaking and it's so beautiful! It's not a light read by any means but that's how Max and Brooks's story was supposed to be.

The jaw-dropping revelations made throughout the story were amazing! I loved how one of those took us all the way back to the beginning of the series and before. I was floored and did not see it coming.
Even though this story can easily stand on its own, it's so much better when read with the other two.

Anna B. Doe writes each story in a way that matches the tone of the characters. Amelia is the sweetheart, Jeanette is the ice princess, and Brook is the girl that hides a world of hurt behind her sarcastic, biting words.

I fell in love with the Greyford High Series. Anna B. Doe gave us a series that has been exceptional and a perfect young adult romance series!

Book 1: I have to say as a young adult book I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I do wish we had steamier moments between the main characters but that’s just me. I thought Derek was a jerk because he has had a crush on Amelia since they were little, but he has let his friends bully her and not stopped it for so long that he has let her slip through his hands. She has no interest in him any longer, well that’s what she likes to tell herself because she finds it hard to resist Derek and I think she wants to believe deep down he is a good guy and he really is but, he has let his immature friends dictate way too much of his behavior. When Derek finds out that she is interested he sets out to make himself a better man with the intentions of her being his. The push and pull kept me interested throughout the whole book and I adored Max as he became a great friend for Amelia to lean on. The things I didn’t like was Brook and Jeanette, these two have their own issues but the way they took their attitudes out on everyone else was annoying and disgusting. Brook was to me the worst friend Amelia could have and I know she comes from a bad home life, but she acts like she gets to dictate everything Amelia says and does, and that was beyond frustrating. I hope when I get to her story, we get to see the reasons why she is this horrible person even if she thinks she is helping a friend out. Friends don’t behave that way towards each other, yes they do help and give their advice yet Brook was just demanding and dictating their every move if I was around her I don’t think I could be friends with her especially when even Amelia knows nothing of Brook’s background just small things here and there. Also, yea the boys are said to be immature but what do we expect when they are immature boys in high school who don’t know how to handle their feelings or situations too well and they will act that way until they are forced to learn from their behavior like Derek does. Overall good read I just really wished it had more mature scenes with Derek and Amelia so that we could feel their attraction and passion. Great read but I really wanted some sexy and steamy moments with these two because I loved Derek and thought it would bring more to their story.

Book 3: I must admit throughout this whole series I have had my doubts and even have came to despise Brook, so with this book I was hoping we could understand her better or at least try to and she could convert me as a fan. Well the author did not disappoint, I ended up loving this story and even loving Brook. Brook endures so much pain, torture, and tragedy in her short life that it isn’t hard to feel sorry for her or pity her. She is hardened by the rough life she has had to endure, she comes from an awful home life a drunken drug addicted mother who abuses her so she has a set of rules she lives by that are intended to keep her focused on her main goal which is to get out of town and away from her current life. She is cold and pretends to be heartless but deep down she is just a girl screaming for help but too stubborn to ask or receive it. I thought I hated her and in a way I really did but getting to know her in more depth has me seeing there was more to her, I still don’t like her in the previous books but in this one I could. Max is a kind, loving soul who is set on protecting those he cares for. He thinks he was in love with Lia, Brook’s best friend, yet he wasn’t he just liked the idea of her. He has his own issues with school, college applications, hockey, a twin that won’t let be close to her, and family that pretty much ignores him and his sister. Max tries so hard to become more to Brook, to be there for her, be a friend, yet she shuts him out every time because she doesn’t want to be second choice. Finally, these two connect and Max is always there for her and she thinks the best action to every bad thing that happens to run and eventually she does run without looking back. This book had a lot more twists, drama, action, and steamy moments than the last two and I loved every bit of it even if I skeptical because of Brook I knew I would still read it because of Max. I am just glad I got a better understanding of Brook and was able to enjoy and love this. These two truly stole my heart and made me think about how we treat others, think before you speak, and don’t judge by attitude because there usually is more to what lies underneath. The author brought these two together and letting both characters grow, Brook learning to accept help and trust others and Max learning he can’t always be the hero but he is a kind soul that just loves deeply.

The Greyford High Series is a compilation of 3 remarkable YA sports romances that are sure to capture your heart. The stories, each focusing on one particular couple, are entertaining reads that have the perfect amount of sweetness, teenage angst, and romance. This author creates complex characters with depth and dives into difficult, real life situations thus making the characters seem real. If you have already read Lines, Habits, and Rules, you will want to check out this boxed set just for the epilogues and bonus scenes! If you are new to this author, then be prepared to fall in love with these characters and their stories.

In Lines, this enemies-to-lovers romance is a story of friendship and love. I wasn't too sure about Derek in the beginning of the novel but, he really grew on me as the story progressed. Lia is a bit of your classic, nerdy girl next door who hopes to remain invisible until graduation, but of course that doesn't happen! This novel does have light bullying and a bit of teenage angst, but I found it to also be a sweet YA romance. Compared to the other two books in the series, this one seems a bit more lighthearted. Lines is one of the author’s earlier books in her writing career and I am impressed with how well the story turned out. As I continued to follow this series, I have also noticed how much her writing has progressed and become more fine-tuned since then.

In Habits, Andrew is on the same hockey team as Jeanette’s twin (Max). He is an arrogant playboy who never settles with one girl. Jeanette, dubbed the ice queen, seems closed off. Both characters experienced something in their pasts that greatly affected how they approach relationships and both battle with insecurity - things that made my heart hurt for them. This beautifully, well-written book put me through a whirlwind of emotions! The characters are sure to pull on your heart strings and you cannot help but cheer them on. Out of this series, Habits is my favorite.

In Rules, I adored both Max and Brook. He is a popular hockey athlete and his protective nature and huge heart are what I loved most about him. As for Brooke, I wasn’t sure what to think of her at first as she is at times closed off and possesses a prickly exterior, but she completely endeared herself to me as the author revealed more about her. These two and their journey put me through all of the feels. The author does a masterful job with character development - demonstrating how both Brooke and Max evolved and gained maturity as the story progressed all while staying true to their characters.

I love this author’s style of writing and I can see just how much she has grown as an author from starting with Lines and moving into the Habits, and finally Rules. All 3 novels are well written and entertaining on their own, but I love how well they seamlessly flow together if read in order. If you love YA/NA sports romances, then you will definitely want to check out this boxed set!

Overall Rating: 4.5 stars

Lines-Ok, the beginning of this book was not my favorite. I was so frustrated with the characters and thought about throwing my kindle a few times...but I kept reading and began to fall for Amelia, Max and Derek and all of their friends. I loved the strength of their friendships, the ties that everyone had from the “small town” vibe. Also seeing how the characters grew and matured throughout the story was heartwarming. I’m looking forward to the next book to see where the characters go from here, there were some hints along that way that not everything is what it seems and not everyone has a picture perfect life.

Habits-I literally just put this book down, I read it within 24 hours. I was going to wait to review because there are so many emotions and I don’t know if I should give myself time to digest but I just can’t wait. This book was so much more than I anticipated. The blurb doesn’t do it justice. I loved Jeanette from the first book and Andrew was the perfect anti-hero but they clashed so bad it was perfectly good. I loved how the story weaved both past and present throughout the book so we know why Andrew and Jeanette are broken. This story left no emotion untouched and I know I will continue thinking about it for days to come.

Rules-Wow, how can I do this book justice with just words?? The amount of emotions this book evoked is more than I can even begin to express. I fell in love with these characters. Brook and Max were so real, so relatable; the heartache and disappointment they endured was heartbreaking.
I loved the multi-person POV writing. You get to experience each situation differently because you are reading both sides of their story from their point of view. Feeling what they felt and why they felt it helped me better understand their pain and fear because I was right there with them experiencing their highs and lows each page along the way. I kind of didn’t want this story to end because I am going to miss each one of these characters, I’m pretty sure I’m going to have a book hangover after the rollercoaster experience this book put me through.

Lines is a great intro to the characters, I didn't love the main characters but had a good story, Habits got me hooked but then Rules *wow* had me sobbing and smiling and I absolutely loved it!.

I cannot wait for this book set to be released with the additional bonus scenes as even though I have read them twice I am more than willing to read again.
