David Capps’s Colossi is a collection filled with light, light in a canyon, the “blue-grey light” of morning, the starlight the field mice speak of, moonlight, blue light, and golden light, and the white light that shines on strangers in the checkout line. And there is dark, as well, as there must be, but always light enough to see by and so perceive by.
