What a roller coaster ride this is! The action starts at the beginning of the book, and never lets up. The Syndicate is looking for Michael Papin. He and Sinclair are on the run with his mother, stepfather, and younger sister. We have a romantic interest between Michael and Sinclair, who have been friends since their days on the streets. But we also have kidnapping, murder, prostitution and sex trafficking. Finn and Kennedy from the FBI are back, and also Tate and Ramirez from the local police department. Ethan Moore is back, with a surprising line that he won't cross. This was an engaging book to read, keeping my interest throughout.

Peril, deception, death, dastardly and cowardly deeds

White hat hacker extraordinaire and former CID agent Michael Papin has mostly recovered from being targeted and struck by a hit-and-run driver, but suffered severe injuries including a concussion with a concomitant loss of short-term memory.

Unfortunately, a hacker program he doesn’t remember installing is activated months later by black hat hacker Tyler who, months later in a deliberate attempt to put a target on Michael’s back in retaliation for Tyler’s arrest and imprisonment, imperiling Michael’s family and everyone else he loves.

The Syndicate will stop at nothing to eliminate anything and anyone trying to expose their activities.

(Again, lots of “romance” stuff but I just skipped iver those parts.)

This book 2 in the The Gathering Storm is very well written with good characters. I was caught up on the story from page one, unfortunately I had not read the first book in the series, I will be reading it now. There was adventure, love, suspense all through the entire stories, and a great Scottish romance. These characters are well constructed and have good chemistry.

well this book was definitely I'm my opinion intense and a wild ride! Sinclair and Michael definitely had so much to try and overcome just to live! I loved what Sinclair did for her calling, because that's what it was to her not just a job!
Definitely want to read more about Finn too! there's a story there.....

The street kids were all grown up; they had made a better life; and, that life was sometimes filled with danger with trust issues. Who were the good guys? FBI Agents, private benefactors, local police or friends; who could be trusted? Sinclair is a hero in her world of saving victims of sex trafficking but this work brought danger to her door. This story is a mix of mystery, danger and romance. I enjoyed it and am sad to see The Gathering Storm series might be over.
