But I never expected my dime sentence would lead me to uncover dark family secrets, a warlord who wants me dead, hidden powers or a blood bond with an infuriatingly gorgeous dragon shifter.
As it turns out, I may not be the soul-sucking demon everyone thought I was. The dark lord of the Underworld orchestrated my murderous bender and now I have to discover why.
Joining the Supernatural Investigation Agency is my best bet at uncovering the truth, not to mention a golden ticket out of prison.
That means working with Talon, my reluctant bodyguard A.K.A. dragon blood buddy. Our connection is getting stronger by the day, but he’d sooner kill me than kiss me—most of the time anyway. And when his dead best friend shows up, things only get more complicated.
How can a girl be expected to control her dark demon urges, harness new magical powers, become a double agent and juggle a surly dragon?
Something’s going to break, and I hope it’s not me.
G.K. De Rosa has been an avid reader from a very young age. In fact, before she could even read, she tried fooling everyone into thinking that she could. At the precocious age of two, while living in Italy, she had memorized an entire children’s book in Italian and expertly turned the pages at the exact right moments of the story. As she grew up, she always enjoyed literature, no doubt having been instilled with a love of story telling from her early years in Catholic school where she was greatly influenced by exemplary teachers who taught her the value of English and Literature. Though she did not pursue writing in college and instead went for the more traditional route of International Business inspired by her love for travel and all things foreign, after a move to New York City, she found her creative writing side calling once again. She began writing a restaurant review blog, City Lights and Tasty Bites, detailing her other passion – food! The hectic hustle and bustle of the city, combined with long commuting times gave her the opportunity to spend more time reading and rekindled a lost love. After reading countless books in many diverse genres over the two years in New York City, and returning to her home state of Florida, she felt compelled to write something for herself. She had always felt particularly drawn to Young Adult novels and having been an eternal romantic at heart, a fantasy romance was a natural choice. She currently lives in South Florida with her real life Prince Charming and their fur baby, Nico the German Shepherd.
As I re-joined this remarkable series the world building once again is so astounding that I simply slipped back into bk.2 without a second thought. Book.2. Shows us Azara trying to be accepted into the SIA as an agent, however the tests she are given are not easy to say the least. G.K.Derosa continues to draw you further into the difficult plots in the storyline with her clarity, flow of text and precise words for her characters that have me smirking with them then laughing and in book.2. Crying. One thing she has is such an incredible ability to create realism, she makes you feel every emotion and thought, you can feel the actual prison as if you was in walking it’s hall’s yourself. This all adds to the enjoyment of her books, especially this one. I felt like an invisible fly on Azura’s shoulder, watching where she went, where her gaze was always drawn to, when her pulse accelerated and the tension & anxiety rolling off her. It was great getting to know more about Talon’s past without his permanent scowls for a second or two. A sentence seem to really touch me though “now have something to live for”. Out of everything, there was one thing G.K.Derosa didn’t give me and that was “Enough” ! Especially with that jaw dropping scream it pulled from me. Please tell me when book.3. Will be released ? I become absolutely enthralled when I read this series with its characters and settings as it envelopes me in G.K. Derosa’s imagination & creativity, and I can’t seem to get enough of this storyline 😛
WOW!! This book will keep you up until the wee hours of the morning because it is so exciting and frankly there isn’t a place where you want to stop!!
I wholeheartedly endorse and recommend this series but you MUST read the first book in this series before this one; otherwise you will have missed half the story! The last book left us with a cliffhanger and the first chapter picks right up where the other one left off!!
G.K. Is one terrific writer and author who blends action and romance into an unforgettable story which keeps you turning the pages faster and faster to see what happens next!!
Young adult and adult reader’s alike will love this story due to the characters and the skillful way G.K. meshes the two together so beautifully into the story line. The bond between Azara and Talon is stretched to the breaking point with the arrival of Vessa along with a mission to try and take out a war lord of the lower underground. Things get tense as both deal with how they really feel towards each other.
The ending has me wanting to read that third book right NOW! I won’t be alone in that regard, however, because when YOU read it you’ll feel the same way!!
K. A. take a bow because this series is a “home run”in baseball lingo! The excellent story line and the two main characters have your readers hooked on this series and are anxiously awaiting the continuation of this story to see what happens next!!
A word of warning: it ends in a cliffhanger. Also for readers starting out with this series, there are quite a few references to a previous series, so you may feel out of the loop. Although this can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend you read Darkblood Academy before this series so you can understand what happens here better. 😊
I have become quite jaded I think 🤔 - there is very little that excites me that have not been done before. The inevitability of storylines has me really just going through the motions. So for the twists and turns to show up in book 2 when they did, was quite refreshing. I would’ve liked it more if the author continued with a particular storyline between the males for much longer. Now THAT was a nugget that could’ve changed absolutely everything. However, the similarities to Darkblood Academy does not go unnoticed. Again, it all seems like a foregone conclusion, unless the author is going to throw a vicious curveball in book 3. 😏
Finally, some action and new characters were introduced. I do feel though that the author did not do them any justice and they are more in the background as fillers. I am not sure of the number of books the author is thinking of having here, but I would’ve liked it a lot more if we got to know about Vander (considering that’s the name with which book 1 ended and was why Talon was in such a tizzy for the whole time), than the numerous emotions between two characters.
I'm really enjoying this series so far and can't wait to see how it continues in book 3... things are definitely heating up between Azara and Talon ♡
Azara may still be stuck in Darkblood but it's not as though she hasn't been offered a way out but Azara isn't ready to leave the prison yet until she uncovers the reason she was set up in the first place and all questions seem to point to a prophecy much like the one involving her mother before she was born. As more of Azara's powers surface she'll have to work harder to keep them hidden because it's not her demon side she has to worry about it's the fact that lik her mother she has warlock powers, something only males should be able to harness and mixed with her demon side she's proving to be a force to reckon with. As the blood bond pull Azara and Talon closer she can't deny how she feels about the grumpy dragon but how much of those feelings are real and how much is just from the blood bond? She's not willing to cross any lines until she knows for sure.
Wow! This book blew me away. It picks up immediately after the first one. I found myself flipping pages as fast as I could and ended up reading this story in one sitting. I love the found family Azara seems to be developing with her boys. The addition to both Vander and Ella in this story added an extra dynamic that I needed. Vander has me beyond intrigued. Oh and that cliffhanger has me desperate for book 3.
I also loved the progress of Talon and Azara's relationship and boy did it steam up in all the right ways!! I ship them so hard. It was so much fun seeing GK Derosa dabble with the enemies to lovers trope.
Azara has found a legal way out of prison, by joining the Supernatural Investigation Agency. Not only will she be out of prison, but she may also be able to access more information as to why the dark lord of the Underworld set her on her brutal killing spree. She will be working with Talon, her bodyguard and dragon blood buddy. Excellent read, with plenty of action, and twists. I received a complimentary copy and freely give my honest review. *If the mention of the previous series piques your interest, from the Super Slayer Squad or the Hitched series, they are fantastic as well!
YES YES YES finally Talon and Azara get some things worked out, after the tension-filled back and forth of the whole first half. I seriously thought Talon was being such a jerk and that he needed to get his act together. The cliffhanger had me screaming with no idea how I'm going to be able to wait for the next book. There is a lot of action, and new characters in this one! Plus our old favorites like Dallas, Hayden, Flix, and Logan.
I tried to give it one more go. It only got worse. I couldn’t stand the eye rolling in book 1 as it was but, holy crap, did it get so much worse in this one... So, sooo much more cheesy and even more unrealistic. Some of the things said I was hoping were sarcastic, nope not a chance. Sad, really.
The second book picks up right where the first left off. Azara is still trying to figure who set her up and is battling her growing feelings for Talon. The gang is trying to figure out how to save Vander. Thax is still after her and Delacroix is making life in prison hell. It's a great follow-up. It has some intense moments and lots of drama. I volunteered to read this book.
Book 2 is almost here! Who's ready to meet Vander... dun, dun, dun! Azara's wild ride at Darkblood Prison is just getting started and I can't wait for you guys to see what comes next :)
Copy, paste my review from book one. This book is cheesy. So. Cheesy. Completely over the top in the worst way, and I very strongly dislike all of the characters.
It's very hard for me not to finish a series, let alone to DNF a book. But I was right on the edge so many times. Every time something cliche or overdone happened AGAIN I was like, mmm, noope, that's it for me. But then something slightly interesting would happen, and I'd give it another chance. Rinse and repeat until the book ends.
This book (read: series) is entirely predictable, and you could pretty much tell what was going to happen from halfway through the first book. I'm happy to report so far everything that I thought was going to happen is happening! This story is as cliche as cliche gets.
The only saving grace here is that these books are so simple that I can get through it in a couple hours, so it doesn't feel like a HUGE waste of time. Just a small one =)
Here I go, on to the third once, because I have this ridiculous need to complete things I start.
If I thought book one was good book two proved even better, it is now Sunday night. I read book one yesterday and started book two which I have also now finished.
In this book Azara has been accepted by the Triad, but she still can't recall the crime for which she is serving a 10 year sentence in The Darkblood Prison for Supernaturals. However Talon's best friend and fosterbrother was killed in the massacre, so his feeling toward Azara are mixed. Because of an injury she suffered he had to give her his blood, which caused them to have a blood bond, and boy what a blood bond it turned out to be. Due to this his feelings toward her are getting stronger the more time they spend together, and as he is her bodyguard they spend a lot of time together and guarding is not the only thing he wants to do with her body, and she is feeling the same. At the same time he can't forgive her for killing his best friend.
The Tirad and the prison governer are part of the SIA, Supernatural Investigation Agency, and they let Azara help them and find out something that will affect the relationship between her and Talon. She undergoes training to become a member of the SIA and if she passes, her sentence will be reduced to two years and during that time she works for them, if she messes up or goes on one of her rampages again she is back to serving ten years.
There is a lot of double crossing going on both inside and outside of the prison so they have to be alert and be careful who they trust.
Once again, finished this in one night and am now about to start on book three.
With Vander alive, Azara knows she has to find a way to set him free. If not for her own conscious, then for Talon. Joining the SIA may be a crazy idea, but it's the one thing Azara can think of to atone for her crimes. That and she wants to do it for Talon. The tension between the two of them always seems to fall back to Vander, but since he's alive, thing's should be different, right?
No matter where Azara finds herself, it always seems to be in danger or trouble. She's like a magnet for it and it drives Talon crazy. Not to mention the blood bond between them continues to make things complicated. Azara cares about Talon, but she can't help but wonder if it's her or the blood feeling these emotions. It's difficult to give into something 100 percent when you aren't sure if it's real. Either way, Azara and Talon continue their push and pull with a bit more of pulling in this one.
Being a double agent sounds fun and all, but here, Azara discovers more family problems in the form of a cousin. She also struggles to keep her identity hidden because she doesn't want her parents to find out about her situation and think less of her. Instead, she knows she has to be the one to make things right. And nothing can go wrong with a sexy dragon at her side. Right?
I would highly recommend reading G.K. DeReosa's previous books since a lot of previous characters are mentions, but it isn't necessary. It'll just help you enjoy the story more and man, I loved it. Fans of supernatural beings will love this enticing world G.K. DeRosa created. She gives us it all: shifters (dragons and more), demons, angels, vampires, and all the sub-levels of species!
This action-packed, fast-paced story kept me hooked from the very first page!
The second book picks up seamlessly from the first, and you'll want to have the third book ready to go before you finish this one. It's that good!
Azara's early release from prison hinges upon her success in joining SIA. In light of this, Talon has intensified Azara's training threefold to strengthen her skills while providing constant protection against the threat within the prison and from the relentless pursuit of Thax, the demon lord of the Underworld.
Their constant togetherness strengthens the bond between them, but their stubborn personalities and the thought of blood bond causing the attraction make them hesitant to acknowledge their growing feelings. It's a slow burn, but it's clear that the sparks are flying!
The plot thickens with the arrival of Vander and Vessa, Talon's ex, bringing a wave of heated drama. Additionally, Azara's fae cousin, Ella, appears to be showing interest in Talon. The air is thick with jealousy!
I can't wait to read what happens next! Thax's claims about Ella caught me by surprise, and if proven true, Drake and Tempest are in for a world of trouble.
>Book Review – Demon Double Agent >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Darkblood Prison series and ends in a cliffhanger. Talon is super protective of Azara in the prison now that they have a blood bond. Azara feels every emotion from Talon and vice versa. They won’t act on their feelings because neither know if their feelings are real or just blood bond magic. The push and pull of the romance between Talon and Azara is super-hot. Talon is the ultimate alpha protective dragon. >Talon’s BFF, Vander, is rescued and causes an issue between Talon and Azara. I love the jealousy from Azara as she meets Talon’s ex. This story shows the protectiveness of the Triad and Azara really growing into her powers, upping her confidence. >This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars. I still can’t believe Logan is still keeping Azara’s parents in the dark about everything going on.
Demon Double-Agent picks up right where book one left off and doesn’t let up for a second. This book had me so wrapped up, I couldn’t put it down until I reached the end… to which I then immediately needed to get my hands on book three.
In book two, Azara is on a mission to not only rescue Vander, but to discover why her villainous demon cousin set her up to be imprisoned. To help get answers, she trains to join the SIA, growing closer to Talon in the process (holy hotness the chemistry between these two). And just when things seem like they’re going according to plan, revelations come to light and betrayals come into play. And that ending… aahhh!
This book had me flipping the digital pages like a madwoman. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Azara is back with Talon, Hayden and Dallas. Word came that Vander is not dead and the team is going to try to rescue him from the Underworld, Azara almost dying, betrayal from the inside, dealing with Talon's ex, all while trying to pass her exams for SIA. Things are now more complicated with Vander and Vessa, Talon's ex, around. Plus, Azara's fae cousin, Ella, is also part of Talon's SIA team. This is a non-stop, full action, exciting and romantic story. I am so proud of how Azara's learning how to control her powers. I'm gonna be sitting on pins and needles awaiting the next episode. I requested a free advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
Demon Double-Agent is Book 2 in the Supernatural Prison Squad series. Azara has found a way to get out of prison, she joins the Supernatural Investigation Agency. She and Talon are beginning to work things out and their relationship is progressing. There are some new characters introduced in this book. This is an excellently written story that takes off from where Book 1 ended. It is a fast paced, action packed, page turning thrill ride adventure with plot twists you don't see coming that will keep you glued to the pages until the end. This is one phenomenal book and series. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.
The second book in the Supernatural Prison Squad Series did not disappoint! I am totally obsessed with this series now ; ) Talon and Azara have grown a lot closer (yay!) even with all the obstacles in their way, including Talon’s best friend, the baddies that want Azara, and even a former love interest. Action, shmexy times, mystery, and a couple of plot twists I did NOT see coming kept me reading well into the night. I don’t want to give anything away, but Vander’s story was definitely a shocking surprise. And Ella! What is going on with her…? I can’t wait to read book 3!
Dam azara isnt getting a break anytime soon thax is trying to get her because of some prophecy but he doesnt want her dead yet.. ella is jealous of the connection talon and azara have so much so she betrays talon and the sia to get azara out of her way cos she wants talon herself, vanders obsessively in love with azara too, lots of action lots of excitement and a bloody cliffhanger ending what more do u need ugh love this series but dam i need my questions answered roll on january 2021
Jumping for joy! Boy/dragon gets Azar, boy/Dragon doesn't want Azar, oh my. What great writing, exciting, intriguing and the characters really come to life in words. Azar is a soul sucking demon with special magic and learning how to use the special skills with control and a very large, sexy Dragon helping, whew. Joining a investigation agency to fight the bad guys to keep humans safe. Azar has to stay in prison for a while but with some friends of hers. Such good storytelling, now come to me book 3.
Fun sequel to the previous book. It was nice to learn more about Talon’s backstory as well as his relationship with Vander and why he treated Azura the way he did in book one. It’s interesting to read about Vander because he’s different than what I expected (considering I first read about him in Wolfborne) but the whole love triangle (?) that was set up is not something I’m looking forward to. As usual, I love the dynamic between the Triad and this book ends on a cliffhanger which I don’t tend to like but it was bearable because I didn’t have to wait for the third book.
I read this wonderful book in one sitting, it is so addictive. The main characters are dynamic, intense, determined, have chemistry, and secrets. There is a rescue mission, training for the SIA, miscommunication, steam, action, adventure, and danger. Great read and I can hardly wait for the next volume to see what happens next. I loved this book. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
OMG I mean WOW! This second book is the bomb! Carrying on from book one it’s fast paced and full of action and twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat and you will not be able to put it down! It’s got a great storyline with fantastic characters whose relationships etc are growing and developing and will have a few surprises for you on the way! It’s addictive and It’s steamy and hot in places and I am excited for book three!
Amidst a plethora of hidden family secrets, this MC has to navigate prison life as well as stay alive long enough to unravel the mystery of how and why she is there. This storyline has captured my attention and I am truly enjoying the ever growing mysteries around every corner. Just so many unique nuances that make this tale stand out for itself. Love this and have already loaded in the next book. All my reviews are always voluntarily written l
Picks up right where it left off with very little repeated explanations of everything that author seem to think we need about the first book (like we didn't read the first book?!) I read this series without reading the others that apparently come before and it's fine as a stand alone series. I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything or feel the need to know who the other people are as there are enough references to make it work. Read it right after the first book and it's a good series so far!
Wow this book pretty much picks up where book one left off azara and talon are still conflicted with there feelings for each other as well as trying to figure out who she can trust trouble seems to be trailing around every corner, will vander come to terms with his feelings literally have so many questions lol this book was epic just left me hanging can't wait to read the next book.
I enjoyed reading this second book in this series, it has a good storyline. This book is entertaining and filled with action, adventure and intrigue. The chemistry and interaction between the characters is great. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Another amazing book from this author. Loved seeing characters from her other series in this book. The chemistry between the characters is enthralling. This author knows how to make her books come to life. Can’t wait to see what happens next in this series for this group of characters.
