Powerful. Intricate. Intense.
What happens when you combine all three with a love so true it defies death?
Parousia.
I began this quest with little expectations. I’m a diehard paranormal lover and have a history of jumping first…and looking second.
I like the unexpected.
I enjoy the shock factor.
I despise spoilers.
And yet….it’s difficult for me to explain how I found myself submerged in a series with as much darkness as light and not only dipping my toes in forbidden waters but swan diving in without reservations.
In the first book, we are charmed by Orlando and his passionate nature. He is hypnotizing with his natural grace and pure heart. Henri loses the heart he’d forgotten he had. It was magnificent to witness. Orlando brings purpose to his days, filling him with more love than he deserves. The love they share is blinding and voracious. I was fascinated with their connection and soaked up every piece of their story. Soul mates take on an entirely new meaning here. Despite the ending, their story is far from over. In this world of angels, demons, and the nephilim hybrids, Lascarso weaves an elaborate and exquisite tale of forbidden love. There are no clear lines between good and evil. Before our eyes, the boundaries blur and weave to and fro. What we think we know is tested and pushed to the brink of destruction. She demonstrates masterful world-building. Bravo!! I adore well-done paranormal and this exceeds expectations.
I’m a sucker for vampires but these bloodborn are different than the typical Transylvania descendants. They need blood to survive but they also bleed themselves (interesting twist) and combine their hematic thirst with mortal nourishment demands. Quenching their endless thirst is also deeply sensual, often leading to strange and messy eroticism.
I believe the power punch of Greek mythology was smartly played in this final installment. I was vested to the point that I slowed my roll and paid close attention to the thirteen tribes and the epic battles intertwined with the coming of “the one”.
Prepare for betrayal and sacrifices. There is no gift greater than unconditional love, and both Vincent and Henri are prepared to offer whatever price they must pay. Devotion makes fools out of both men and gods. They battle with the enemy and often themselves. Their loyalty is absolute. For two souls searching for a simple life, they are put to the test time and time again. Expect pain laced with comfort and pleasure cut with misery. If you think braiding family ties are bad…just wait. There’s more. There’s much to be said but little that can be shared. Just know this, I can count on one hand what I consider epic love stories and this one makes the cut. You must open both your mind and your heart before embarking on this extraordinary journey. And if you do, consider yourself lucky enough to score a front-row seat with this glorious story.
Start at the beginning, it’s a requirement.
Have patience in the middle, you’ll need it.
And dig your feet in for this finale, for it’s bound to blow you away.
Beware of: The unexpected…don’t think, just feel. The mortal and divine don’t mix…or do they? The most powerful weapon of all…is love. And prepare to…swoon, melt, and burn…get ready for the ultimate mix.
This book is for: Paranormal fans looking for something to sink their teeth into. This series pushed and pulled and wasn’t easy…but was worth it. Be warned, this is not a smooth or simple adventure. If you dare to dance with these divine, please give Orlando my love.
