D.L. Cross has loved science fiction ever since she was a young girl and fell for Major Don West on television's Lost in Space. To this day, she still quotes the show, though her favorite lines were spoken by the robot and the antagonist.
Parallel universes or alternate realities, aliens or dinosaurs, superpowers or super viruses, time travel or AI... no sci-fi theme is off limits and all of them fascinate her.
D.L. Cross also writes other genre fiction under the name Staci Troilo, and you can find more information about all her identities and all her work at her website: https://stacitroilo.com.
The Twins is the fourth book of D L Cross’s Astral Conspiracy series and the action hasn’t missed a beat.
Ms. Cross has done an amazing job at character development, something I often find lacking in Sci-fi stories. She has also weaved in elements of suspense, not a “who done it” but it leaves me wondering the motives of several of them and wondering who is a good guy and who is a bad one.
As I said in my review of the first book in the series, I’m usually not a Sci-fi fan, but Ms. Cross has converted me!
The Twins set the stage for the fifth and final book of the series with a surprising twist at the end, and I early await The Lab.
I’ve been following this series since book one. The Stones has been my favorite to date, but The Twins comes in a close second. Once again, the action is nonstop, following different POV characters through separate pulse-pounding situations, all coming to a head in the closing quarter of the book. For fans who have followed the series, there are several surprises in store, including one jaw-dropping revelation that sets up book five, the closing novel in the series. That revelation is sheer brilliance on the part of the author, and I can’t wait to see how it plays out. I also really loved Cross’s slant on Roswell with what took place there and why. Yet another perfectly lobbed plot grenade.
There is strong cast of characters in this series, and by now I’ve spent a good deal of time with all of them. As their loyalties change, and circumstance reveals news sides to their personalities and underlying motivations, I found my own loyalties changing—including grudgingly admiring more than one character I once detested. Although each chapter is a constant adrenalin rush, it’s almost impossible to catch your breath in the closing quarter of the book. I fully expect The Lab, book five, to deliver a nail-biting and riveting finish to this stellar series. If you enjoy alien invasion stories with exceptional character development, polished writing, and an engrossing storyline, The Twins, and the Astral Conspiracy series are not to be missed! I would love to see Netflix turn this into a series.
This is the fourth book in the series. The last book, The Stones, was nail-biting suspense. In this book, the characters come into their own. They mature and show what they're really made of. There's one character, in particular, who shows his hand, and in the next book, I sincerely hope he gets exactly what he deserves...and it's really unpleasant. As for the other characters, I hope they survive what's to come. I've grown so fond of them. And that's what makes this science fiction series so special. The Astrals are so cold, they freak me out, and the characters are fully developed. I'm not sure if it will happen, but I'd love to know why the one reptar was so attached to one of the characters. Anyway, that's the strength of the writing. The characters live with you, even some of the ones that aren't so savory:)
Unputdownable series. Read this as part of the Astral Conspiracy 5 Volumes Complete Series Bundle. D. L. Cross has been the Master (or should that be Mistress) of action scenes, plot twists and cliffhangers all through this (movie or TV worthy) series - book 4 is no exception. She also introduces a seven year time jump forward, and a few notable deaths to clear the way to the finale in book 5...
Again, great book, can't stop reading the series, BUT, there's too many side-plots going on. The back and forth makes you forget things from the other plots. That being said, I still do recommend these books!
Book 4 of the Astral Conspiracy Series by D.L. Cross takes place seven years after the third book. It's obvious the Astrals are not leaving Earth and the Titans and Reptars still roam the countryside killing anyone in their path. The group that fled to the underground tunnels of a University in Ohio when the aliens arrived, now have children. Reverie has twins. The father is Professor Landon Thorne, who has been missing for seven years. Bristol has a daughter. But the twins are the focus of this book. They are not ordinary children by any stretch of the imagination. The way this book unfolds is heartstopping at times. The author did such a great job of showing the different personalities of the twins, Asha and Vonn. What happens after Landon finally returns is non-stop action from start to finish. I give this segment of the series a solid four stars. I do highly recommend reading this series in order. A well-written science fiction story with a touch of realism.
I’m enjoying this sci-fi series. I love Reverie’s twins’ addition as the characters are trying to survive and figure out who to trust—throwing in children to protect added another dimension to the story. The twin’s psychic abilities give them an edge the adults don’t have. There are several characters I’m rooting for, including one I didn’t think I would. While some relationships ebb and flow, a few grew stronger, making me very invested in their well-being. There are surprising revelations and a couple of twists that kept me reading way past my bedtime. The pace is nonstop as everyone tries to survive in this well-constructed world. This is a highly recommended series you want to read from the beginning. I can’t wait to plunge into the final book!
