The King Brothers #2

Bringing It Home

Rate this book
Rich. Hot. King of campus.
I had it all.
Until a fastball to the head took my memories away.

The last few months? Poof. Gone. I can’t remember a thing.
Now I can barely get out of bed let alone fill it.
Which is why my father’s hired me a pretty little tutor to put me back together.
But Humpty Dumpty I am not.
I’m in no mood to play… even if I have been imagining how deep I’d have to go to hit her sweet spot.
Cautious, calculating and all kinds of smart, she’s not my usual MO.
She has an actual brain for one thing, a body that’s spent far too long in hiding.
It’s clear she wants more than a run around the bases.
Definitely clear she knows more than she’s letting on.
But if she thinks she’s getting close to this bad boy, she’s wrong.
You’d need a battering ram to break into my heart.

Strap in, folks, the bases are loaded and it’s about to get very hot in Crestfall. Bringing It Home is a full length, standalone bad boy romance with plenty of steam. There’s no cheating, no cliffhangers and a breathless, guaranteed HEA. Don’t miss out!

A sex story. The humor was hit or miss.

Titus & Maya, college seniors and math majors, fell
in love. He excelled at baseball and expected to join
a MLB team. He experienced a coma & amnesia after
receiving a fastball to his head during a game. No
investigation occurred RE: the pitcher's motives. Ti
couldn't recall knowing Maya, who became his tutor,
and he felt drawn to other women. These 2 acted like
high school seniors more then college seniors. Ti made
assumptions w/o listening when told Maya was expect-
ing. The story had potential but, IMO, both MCs were
too young emotionally to be committed to each other.

I felt bad for Titus when the pitcher threw the ball, hit Titus in the head, and knocked him out. Then when he woke up four weeks later from his coma, he had short term amnesia. Maya is the person I felt the worst for as Titus didn’t remember her. That would be awful! Titus was a real player before he started seeing Maya. The kicker is that they didn’t let others know they were seeing each other. Now Maya is hoping with time Titus will remember what they had. It was hard at times watching Maya get her hopes up that Titus remembers only to be dashed again. There were times I wanted to knock Titus in the head for how he acted! I enjoyed the book and encourage you to read it. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.

The couple: Titus and Maya

Romance trope: amnesia
Series: The King Brothers
Length: 176 pages

Plot: Titus and Maya have been having a secret affair, but then he gets hit in the head with a baseball during a baseball game and he loses his memories. When she goes to see him at the hospital, he has no idea who she is. She does offer to become his tutor so he can catch up in his college courses, and her hope is that he'll start to remember what they meant to each other.

Commentary: This one was a little slow for me. I felt really bad for Maya - it must be so awful to look at this person whom you love, whom you know loves you, and then see them not recognize you at all. Not only that, but he went off with another girl at least once (didn't do anything, safety squad!). So it was awful to watch for a while, but I keep thinking that if someone would just spill the beans, the story would start to move along. I wonder if that's just a plot device in books (I've seen it more than once) or if you really should tell an amnesia patient about the past while they're waiting for their memories to come back.

Previous book in the series: Throw Down
Next book in the series: Hot Shot

Poor Titus got hit in the head with a baseball rendering him unconscious, in a coma followed by amnesia. What would it take to get his memories back? I felt sorry for Maya, she had a very strong connection and he didn't remember anything about her. Could they find love again?
Even though a serious injury it was still a light, fun read. I really enjoyed it.

After Losing His Memory, Titus Gets A Second Chance To Fall In Love With Maya!

This is the second book in a series of stand-alones about the King brothers. Book one, Throw Down, is Peyton King and Erin Nash’s story. This book is Titus King and Maya Riordan‘s story. This book was originally titled Game Theory.

From Throw Down, book one:

Stone King is a major league coach and sports legend. He is the father of four college-aged sons, all talented college athletes in their respective sports. Stone has been a strict father, demanding the best in sports and good academics. He isn’t easy to get along with and is impossible to please, as evidenced by his five divorces. He never gave up on the institution of marriage, though, which keeps him much too busy to be actively involved in his sons' lives. He is currently engaged to Alissa. The boys all attend Crestfall and are well known on campus for their athletics, partying, and good looks, as well as the various skills and assets that the co-eds eagerly gossip about. Their broody alpha personas are all the rage.

Peyton King is in his final year. He is the quarterback for the Crestfall Thunder. Titus and Phoenix, juniors, are fraternal twins. They have an unusual relationship, often fighting over women. Titus plays baseball and is known for his speed. The cocky jokester of the family has a sensitive side, too. Phoenix plays basketball for his dad’s sake but doesn't care for it. He has offers to play professionally, but he has put them off. Nolan, the baby of the family, is a sophomore. The introspective hockey player comes to life once he gets on the ice, but otherwise he is the quietest of the group and has a big heart. He hasn't slept his way thru Crestfall like his brothers, either. His ADHD makes him a little quirky, easily distracted.

In this book:

As the book opens, it is roughly on and a half years from the opening of book one. Stone King is now married to Alissa. It appears to be February of the last semester of the senior year of college at Crestfall for the twins, Titus and Phoenix, which makes it Nolan’s junior year. Baseball season is just beginning. Peyton and Erin had an engagement party several months ago, and according to their epilogue, Peyton did not get signed with the NFL right out of college. It appears that they are still around and married by now, either living together nearby or in the home with his brothers (it is unclear).

Titus King, Crestfall’s star baseball player, plans to live a bachelor’s life. None of the King brothers want to follow in their father’s footsteps. His father’s current wife, Alissa, is only a few years older than Titus and doesn’t seem to be good for more than performing as a prop on his father’s arm. Accordingly, Titus has slept with half of the female students on campus and is always down for a good time. The fun is fleeting, though, and he always sleeps alone. But Titus is not limited to his talent on the field and his reputation in the bedroom. It was in junior high school that he fell in love with math, which he now studies in college. He has no doubts about his future in Major League Baseball – the recruiters have already been reaching out, and playing professionally is everything his father has ever wanted for his boys. Titus has a temporary set-back, however, when he awakes in the hospital one day. It turns out that he has been in a coma for weeks. And moreover, he has amnesia and cannot recall most of the last three or four months leading up to his hospitalization.

Maya Riordan, math nerd, is a senior at the state college. She isn’t in the same league with the beautiful and well-to-do at nearby Crestfall. Her clothes are cheap and style plain, but with math as her priority it hadn’t ever really mattered. She had gotten an invitation several months ago for her old friend Erin’s engagement party. Feeling out of place and intimidated to attend an event at the renowned King home, she was hesitant until Titus King answered the door for her. That was the beginning of everything. And although at first he played the role of an arrogant jock flawlessly, he had shown her an entirely different side of himself that she couldn’t help but fall in love with. They had kept their relationship on the down low, though. His brothers were absolutely clueless. It hadn’t been a problem until Titus’s accident, but her dreams aren’t entirely crushed until she finally sees him again. The man she fell in love with hasn’t a clue as to who she is, and the arrogant jock he reverted to has no interest in a plain girl like her.

Titus and Maya’s story digs deep as the two unlikely soul mates are tested by a freak turn of fate. While they apparently fell hard and fast the first time around, the second time is far from smooth. With his memory wiped of all knowledge of Maya, there is no love at first sight for Titus this time. He is callous, rude, and even cruel. Maya shows great restraint and patience as she gives him the time and space his doctor said was necessary. And with the possibility that his memories might never return, everything might be for naught. Titus struggles to find himself post accident. The juxtaposition between the Titus before Maya and after they originally met is like night and day. One is self-centered, the other compassionate and loving. Faced with the self-centered jock who is committed to a lifetime of bachelorhood, Maya’s hopes of finding love again are thin. The couple eventually earns a tearful happy ending.

There are a few issues that merit mention. *Spoilers* First, it says that Alissa has lasted twenty-three months, but that must be a reference to the relationship and not the marriage itself, since they were engaged in book one, and this takes place roughly one and a half years later. Next, I believe there is an MLB draft each year in June. The recruiting efforts are thus probably inaccurate. They would probably more accurately describe getting recruited for college baseball, not professional baseball. Additionally, there is an issue with timing and a ring. Further, Maya is Erin’s friend. It seems strange and too convenient that she hadn’t worked unofficially as an intermediary to resolve some of the issues that had kept Titus and Maya at odds. Finally, it is sometimes hard to follow the passing of time (I’ve tried to clarify it somewhat in this review). And as for classes, it sometimes feels as if Titus and Maya aren’t enrolled in college because their schedules feel too flexible. Despite these points, Titus and Maya’s story is a deep and rewarding read.

After losing his memory, Titus gets a second chance to fall in love with Maya. Their story is nicely written, though there are some minor editing issues. The story is somewhat complex. The characters are well-developed. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Titus and Maya. I rate this book four stars.

Wow! This is one awesome romance novel. Where Teagan Kade Has taken us is beyond the imagination. I laughed and cried throughout the whole book.

We get first introduced to Titus at bat, when an accident happens. So we don’t get introduced to these characters together until later. But the way the story is laid out it is perfect. Titus can’t remember Maya, It is taking all she can not to let him know what she is to him. Maya fights as much as she can for Titus. Titus Falls in love with Maya for a second time. Then Titus feels the secret Maya has is only a trap. In the end Titus realizes he cannot live without Maya.

I was so happy in the epilogue we get to see Titus finally remember. They are both very happy with the plans finally coming together they made all those years ago.

Just ok. I am not big into side characters having a lot of time in the romance books I read but half of this book is the main characters talking to friends or family. Not for me. The sex scenes were good but the conversations were pretty bland. Very “typical romance” kind of conversations. I was intrigued by the storyline but it wasn’t anything amazing. It dragged a bit for me, a lot of the build up and trying to develop the relationship felt like fodder. I think that had to do with the side characters needing to develop the main characters feelings and insights into the storyline.

The book isn’t bad. Just ok.

ONE SITUATION CHANGES EVERYTHING

Titus and Maya give a read that you won't want to miss. One baseball, one ball, and a hit to head changed things for these two. They had a relationship in secret, but he doesn't remember it all. As their story unfolds, it gives you everything you want. A little action, a whole lot of spice, every emotion, and so much more. This read will give all the feels, and I can't wait to read what this author has next.

A great sad story 🥹 even if Payton doesn't think it's possible, he falls in love twice with the same woman. Before the accident they are even more, after the accident they get to know each other again and he gets to know Maya again, she already knows him and it's damn hard for her not to say anything until he asks her a question that she has to answer .

Wow what a story. Only Maya is lucky enough to say her true love fell in love with her twice. Titus is one lucky guy. This is a sweet, heart wrenching, but loving romance with a hot baseball player and one lucky girl. Worth the read!

Titus and Maya's story is definitely a page turner. You get romance, heartbreak and love. I enjoyed how both Titus and Maya navigate the memory loss. There was one thing that happened to Maya early and immediately knew what was going on. There are many books about memory loss and in my opinion Teagan Kade did a great job of making it her own. I loved Maya she is smart, patient and loves Titus, I could feel it. Even when it was hard she did her best not to push Titus to remember them. I liked how Titus owned it when he made a really big mistake and fought hard for Maya. My biggest complaint is why Titus kept things such a secret. Maybe it was answered and I missed it not sure. I would have liked in the epilogue Titus hit a lined drive to the pitcher's crouch. Teehee!!! I guess we get everything we want. I loved Bringing It Home, I really enjoyed it more than Throw Down. This latest King Brothers story was so good. Titus and Maya are a great pair. You could feel the connection they had even though Titus had trouble remembering anything that recently happened. I loved how Maya stood by his side and was willing to help in in anyway. I felt her sorrow when she felt he would not remember what they had and wondered if he would go back to his old ways. You could sense that he was trying to figure out why he had such a connection with Maya. I also enjoyed that they are able to work with what he was currently having to deal with and are able to start to grow close again in a new way. The struggles these two went through were an emotional roller coaster at times. I loved ever minute of it. Deep down Titus knew somehow that Maya and he were more than just friends and that there must be more to it. Deep down the heart does not forget. I loved the HEA and can not wait to read about the next King brother.

Titus is the King of the baseball diamond, until his arch rival beans him a good one during a game. Four weeks later he wakes up in the hospital, not remembering much from the past few months. He has even lost his memories of college and is in need of someone to help him remember all he's forgotten for his classes. He wasn't another dumb jock, he just needed to have a refresher on his studies, in come Maya. She volunteers with the hope that somehow someway a miracle happens and Titus remembers everything, the things that she knows that she can't come right out and tell him everything. The two get closer, something that is new to Titus, but somewhere in the back of his brain, a familiarity between the two is just on the edges of his memories.
OMG! This is one read that you MUST get and dive into. It has moments that makes you want to up and smack Titus alongside that dense head of his just to jog some sense into him.

This was an easy read. There's some angst, some good spices in the bedroom, and the characters feel real, even if a little privilege slipped in there. The editing is a little sloppy, but not the sex. IE; smelt is a fish. It may have 'smelled' like a smelt, but anyway, you get the gist.

Discovering Their Love Again -
Titus made an agreement with his brothers to never fall in love, but then he met Maya and changed the way he used to think. However, an unfortunate accident threw a bomb into their lives and everything changed. The storyline conveyed so much hope, love, dedication and loyalty. I was never bored or left hanging at any time during, as each page is filled with a combination of joy and drama. This story had me hooked from the beginning and didn’t let go until the end, but still left me wanting more. It is difficult to convey how amazing Teagan Kade’s books are to read and I definitely recommend you read this book.

Excellent from the first page to the last one
I loved this story because of the excellent description of the hole in which the heroine, Maya, falls into when her boyfriend Titus, a college baseball star, doesn't recognize her and since no one knew they were together, she undergoes his rude, immature behavior. The emotions experienced are extremely well described, constantly oscillating between drama and joy.
The story is fascinating, because even if we guess the end, the resolution of this relationship which at first seems to die by the behavior of Titus kept me spellbound from the first to the last page. Maya's character is excellent.

Good read

Good read, fast paced. After being beamed in the head with a fastball, Titus wakes up from a coma with memory loss, a sizeable chunk of current memories are gone. Maya has been waiting for Titus to wake up and continue their relationship, one that wasn't known to the public, but when he wakes up and has no clue to who she is her heart breaks. Maya grasps into the job of tutor in hopes that Titus will remember their time together, but her sweet loving man has woken up as his old self, a jock with a big ego that enjoys the spoils of big man on campus. Two opposites, he's the jock, she into books have a lot to sort out before things can go forward. I am enjoying the King brothers!

This has a secret, doubt, heartache and so much more. Titus is a baseball player who got hit in the forehead with a fast ball. Joe Pearson who plays for the Mules was the pitcher who put Titus in the coma. He was in a coma for four weeks. When he wakes up he finds out he has amnesia and will need a tutor to help with his college classes at Crestfall. Maya met Titus at his brother Peyton's engagement party. She is a senior at the state college. She has been beside herself worrying about Titus in the hospital but unable to see him until Peyton and Erin get her in. Amazing storyline that was well written and the characters kept me devouring the pages. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.

Oh my, be prepared to need the tissues badly, I did. I just love the King brothers...Peyton and Erin from book 1, now Titus, Phoenix and Nolan.
After a bad accident to his head and losing his memory, Titus needs help in tutoring. Along comes Maya, the most kindest, caring, woman (and unknowingly Titus girlfriend) you ever could meet. Oh my heart went out to her. Wanting to say she loved him wanting to say “do you remember this or when we planned that” but she can’t. He has to remember naturally. She is so patient and has such faith in their love but oh boy, is she tested to the limits.
A brilliantly written story I couldn’t put down and yes, needed the tissues a few times.

This is Titas King's story, twin brother to Pheonix, a star baseball player on the brink of being recruited to the big leagues until a wayward throw from a pitcher leaves him in a coma for a month with retrograde amnesia. His father Stone hires him a tutor named Maya and there is an immediate sense of dejavu. Mostly because they spent months dating in secret and Maya does not know how to tell him.

Their love story is a complex one, he doesn't do relationships and can't remember what they shared together and is quick to call her a liar when things get too heavy. The real question becomes whether Titas is willing to believe what he feels over what he can't remember. Another great read. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC and this is my honest review.

Titus and Maya's story is a reading highlight in this series, that's for sure!
It is a page turner par excellence and I had to read it in one go. The story is gripping, exciting, heartbreaking and romantic from the very first page. The plot has so many turnarounds that my head was spinning at times. Every time I thought that the protagonists would solve their problems, caused by Titus' amnesia after an accident at a baseball game, the plot took a new turn, so that I had to read even faster to find out what would happen next.
This is the second book in the King Brothers Series, and I can't wait to read Phoenix's story.
