I will admit that if this book wasn't by Jessica Ruben I would have not continued after the first couple of chapters. I have always had a hard time with books that have to do with human trafficking, but I'm so glad I did!!! This was so very well written and done so well that I became glued to page after page! It also helped that the characters were multi layered, especially the anti hero Darius he is handsome and charming, but his outside hides a dark and dangerous man who's job it is to find girls like gini for the madman. So when he lures the beautiful but naive Gini from her father and village to work for the mansion a house that provides women for powerful men I can honestly say I hated him! But as the story goes on we learn theirs more to this guy. He didn't count on falling in love with gini and a war starts within him! He has worked too hard and been though too much to ruin it over some slave. Gini is a awesome character as well, she's strong and even after being put in a nightmare she does what she must to survive and although she should hate darius for his part, when their together theirs unmistakable chemistry and connection. These two lovers are running out of time and soon the man that has bought gini will take her away, but darius has plan and it involves the powerful and dangerous Nico head of the Shqiptare mafia! Will he be a friend or foe? Read to find out! Another fabulous read! Jessica is a awesome storyteller and this series is proof of that! Until next time Luv's💕💋
I can’t stop myself from wishing the circumstances were different.”
You know when you read a book and technically it has all the ingredients to be something you love, but yet it just doesn't click for you? This was that book for me.
The second I read the blurb to this, I knew this would be my first Jessica Ruben book. And well, Mafia. How do I NOT read it? And while this one didn't quite work for me, it definitely sold me on the author and I plan on reading her other books, so don't come at me with pitchforks please.
As to why this didn't work? Well, the short long of it is that I was bored. For the dark subject matter here, it read flowery to me, which took getting used to. I never quite connected to Gini and Darius's romance. I felt like I was reading about their connection and was being told about it, but it just didn't click. I didn't feel it. The other piece of it was personal bias. Gini was a heroine that I had a hard time connecting to. She's beautiful, sweet, and I get her innocence and naiveté. But she was just too perfect for my tastes. I didn't quite understand her immediate connection to Darius and her continued naiveté of her situation and that he'd see the error of his ways and release her. She was just too sweet for my particular tastes. I kept hoping to see a little backbone, a little grit to her, and it never happened.
Now look, I am clearly in the minority here. This has plenty of glowing 5 star reviews and for good reason. Don't let one picky a-hole's opinion sway you. I really wanted to love this one, but sadly you can't love them all.
I already feel bad as I start writing this review because I know there's no way I can truly do this book as much justice as it deserves. First, I want to advocate for Jessica Ruben and her words, I have been enamoured with Jessica since I cracked opened her debut novel, Rise and since then she has consistently upped her game!
Her characters, her plots, the worlds she creates? They're ever changing, thought provoking, dynamic and enriching. Pick her stories up and you'll travel around the world while being swept off your feet and swooning from the romance but...... and this is the part that always keeps me coming back for more, you will grow as a reader! These books are so smart, I get an edification, I learn about different languages and cultures and traditons, I think about how others are being affected because of their gender, or sexuality, or socioeconomic status, race, religious beliefs etc.
My heart is so filled and happy with Darius and Gini's story, was it always pretty? No, but it was intensely real, beautiful and an all encompassing story that will grab you from chapter one and leave you with a crushing book hangover!
I did not stop reading once I started, I couldn't put it down and you won't be able to either! Love Her Madly is a favorite for me this year, the perfect amount of sexy, leave you breathless romance and hard hitting intelligent writing, Jessica can do NO wrong!
‘When I arrived, I was terrified of Darius. He had taken me from my home and forced me into this life. I know that it’s his fault I’m here.’
Love Her Madly by Jessica Ruben was quite the intense, thrilling and dark ride, we just couldn’t put down Darius and Gini’s story. The subject matter is not easy to read, the setting and traditions not ones we were overly familiar with. However, there is a glossary and we have to say it made this romance stand out as it was unique exactly because of this. We all know that woman are not equal to men in one way or another in most societies, however in Love Her Madly it is quite disturbing how little a woman’s life is valued except for what can be gained from her. Sex trafficking is quite the ‘hot potato’ right now and needs complete transparency so that it can be pushed to the top of every nation’s agenda.
“It’s my job to find men to pay for you. Whether it’s one night or one year or one hundred fucking years.”
The way in which Jessica Ruben wrote this novel enabled us to feel fully immersed in the culture, the sights, the smells and sounds. The imagery was vividly potent. Kids snatched of the poverty-stricken streets, stolen from their lowly homes under false pretences; brought up to please and follow strict draconian rules, be it under duress, violence or even the finality of death. It breaks our hearts to know that for millions of children this is an actuality not just a work of fiction. It is clear that Jessica Reuben has done tremendous research into a very difficult and horrific aspect of human life and with it she shines a naked light on traditions, religion and the culture within which they are set.
“Do as I say, Gini. If you care for me at all, you will not force my hand against you. It’s a strong, strong hand.”
Gini was a wonderful character who we immediately took into our hearts. A beautiful, inquisitive and slightly naïve girl who wants to learn, yet craves the quiet simple life. She has stars in her eyes, but sadly they are ripped out when she realises that what she’s been sold into is not what her father was promised. As she slowly discovers a whole new world, she also slowly finds love and protection from the enigmatic enforcer and brothel guardian, Darius.
‘I’ve killed. I’ve abused. I’ve taken what isn’t mine. I’ve been a thief. I’ve committed adultery, using women who are already married and taking them for all they are worth. I’ve taken many women at one time. I’ve used guns to bring fear into those around me and shot dead those who refused to listen…I’ve helped to buy and sell women under the guise of religiously sanctioned prostitution. And I have told myself that it is acceptable, even while my morality tells me that it isn’t so.’
The last thing Darius expects is for his whole life and the ingrained values in him to change, when he collects the sweet natural beauty, Gini. Growing up on the streets as a child he was rescued, we use that term loosely, by one of the most sought after brothel owners of The Mansion in Mumbai, India. Here he teaches and protects the ‘stolen and found’ girls, trained to obey. We fell in love with the strong and powerful Darius as he really did have a good heart underneath his misguided morality and feelings of obligation.
“Please, Gini, swear you won’t let anything break who you are.”
Gini and Darius’s story was a slow burn, intense and seductive love story in a sea of horror. Whilst Love Her Madly can absolutely be read as a standalone we recommend reading this series in order so you meet Nico first as he features heavily in Light My Fire.
“I do not know how to change my fate or yours without incurring death for us both.”

Its been a bit since i read one of Jessica's books , ive loved all she has written and this was no different.
This is the second book in the Sex. Rock. Mafia series.
When Darius was young living on the streets he was saved by Amma (Madam) she took him under her wing and made him the strong powerful man he is today, she takes him from living on the streets to the life he can only dream of.
Gini is a beautiful shy girl who lives in the hills with her family. One day when her father comes in and tells her that Gini is to go to live and be a maid in the city of mumbai she knows she must go to help her family. But what really happens is far from being a maid Gini is bought into a world she could not have imagined, there she meets Darius. Darius is to prepare Gini to be sold to the highest bidder. When lines are blurred between capture and slave, when heart starts to get involved forbidden touches, things start to get interesting very fast. Their world is not simple Darius feels he owes Amma his life and so he will do anything for her but when it comes to saying goodbye to Gini will he be able to do it, will he betray Amma or will he break Gini once and for all. These two go through one hell of a rollercoaster of a ride and its not easy at all. Once again Jessica takes you to another world and makes you feel like your actually witnessing it all. Will Darius be able to save Gini before she is sold? Will he finally be free of Amma?
I suggest you start the series with Nico and Elira
I am honestly not sure where to begin with this book. My mind is blown. My heart is aching. My soul is just in awe. If you have read Jessica Ruben’s work in the past, you know it is a raw and emotional journey that will transport you into this unique world that she has built and get lost in her words that are absolute magic. With Love Her Madly, you are taken into the dark side of poverty and what it means to get out of it, even if it is against your will. Gini is in such a precarious position. Does she become one of the girls from The Mansion, or can she break free of the chains that life has dealt her. My heart ached for her so much throughout this story. But I adored her spunk and fire as she held her ground. Darius is such a unique soul. He is so conflicted. Does he do what he has always known or does he follow his heart. These two together make your heart melt and sizzle at the same time. Their pure passion for each other. This story takes you into a dark world but leaves you with so much hope. The way this one interconnected with Light My Fire was pure perfection. It added so much depth to the story that it left you breathless. By the time you get to the end, you breathe a sigh of happiness as these two finally get to be one. It was beautiful, heart wrenching, emotional and so much more. Honestly, it is hard to come up with the words to this story justification. Ruben’s words flow flawlessly with amazing attention to detail and depth. You will be spellbound and bewitched and will completely fall in love with this world she has created.
I took my time reading this, my review will not do justice to this gut-wrenching, tear-jerking, and wanting to take a looking into your soul and wanting to make my soul a better one. Jessica did a phenomenal job with Darius and Gini. Her character development was spot on.
I did not want it to end, I have to confess that it took longer bc I had to stop and look up a lot of words or phrases, customs and religious law that I did not know of. Very interesting and very disturbing of what I learned how some religious groups go around to justify their morals depravity. Still, to this day women are nothing more than an object without a say.
Gini is the most genuine good, wholesome, pure soul I’ve read to date. She will stay with me for years to come, she took a place in my heart and I hope to learn from all her goodness. I hope this world doesn’t change her and maybe she can change us for the better.
Darius thought that he was born in the slums and this was all he was here to do, until Gini (see the goodness) he changed her world and turned it upside down but in reality, she changed his world 🌎 and gave him ideas, wants of something better, elsewhere. You did not come from the slums.
“It’s time. We’re alone. Free and together. This is it.”
For me, it was a very emotional read and I loved every minute of it. I highly recommend this book and if you haven’t read book 1 due so ASAP, it’s a standalone but they’re interconnected.
There are not enough stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to truly rate this book 📚
Consuming, Enthralling,MIND-BLOWING. From the very first line to the very last page, Love her madly sank into me and didn't let me go.
This book captivated me it was heart wrenching, and intense an incredibly intricate compelling story line with ingeniously written dialogue every single word was beautiful and unique it will leave you BREATHLESS, this is Jessica Ruben at her very best..
Get ready because this book will set of explosions everywhere. Jessica brought it.
This is the second book in the series, its all about Darius and how he joined the Albanian Mafia. Most of the book is set in Mumbai, India and has been very well researched. It sets the scene beautifully for this unusual love story. I can't say too much, without giving spoilers away, but Gini is a lovely character, the epitome of grace and bravery in extremely horrible circumstances. I was in two minds about Darius but he does redeem himself in the end. I love Jessica Rubens writing style and have been a fan of hers since her very first book. I recommend that you read the first book before reading this as it helps with knowing all the secondary characters. Do yourself a favour and read all of Jessica's books, you won't be disappointed.
This book is one of the reasons why I love to read!! Jessica Ruben has once again written a beautiful, brilliant and bold story that kept me captivated to the pages and simply wanting more! I love a good book that not only allows me to escape for a while, but also one that educates me with another culture, time, religion, country...and this book does just that!
This story mostly takes place between India and Iran. It tells of experiences that vary between the slums and villages of India to the richest elite in Iran. I could picture each setting, dream each scene, and my mind stretched to put myself right there in the midst of Gini's predicament where her life took her. I felt her worry and sense of responsibility in caring for her family, her anxiety when she was taken away, and her uncertainty, naivety and yearning once she met Darius.
The slow burn between Darius and Gini was addictive, arousing, and pulse-pounding at times. It was captivating to read how Gini's character developed and grew over the course of this book. I loved how her feelings went from worry to curiosity to wanting over a short span of time. And Darius' determination to keep her safe, and his own indescribable attraction to her could be felt on every page. I LOVED his possessive and alpha side, as well as his vulnerable and passionate side. It was clear from their first meeting that there was a magnetic force between them that could not be broken, and every page leading up to their reunion was written with the purpose of them becoming who they needed to be. Gini needed to simply experience life outside of her village, and Darius' inner battle was necessary for him to truly decide what he wanted his life to be.
I devoured this book and hope that we see more of these characters in books to come in this series! Well done once again J Ruben!!!
Who hasn't read a book in over two weeks?? ME!! For the first time in over 10 years I fell into the biggest book slump EVER. Between fires, evacuations, Covid, illnesses of family members and working at a middle school that is fully distance learning...I WAS TOAST. Until Jessica Ruben...she delivered in a HUGE way with love, loyalty, bad guys, good guys and lines so blurred you couldn't tell where one meets the other. A story of hope, will, perseverance and the reminder that good can come even when surrounded by things that are bad...I adored Gini and Darius. Their story burned, the chemistry ignited, the friendship and respect even when tested to the limits found it's way...Thank you Jessica Ruben. I feel like I have my purpose back. Reading is my salvation and this story helped me find my passion. Loved it...
If there is one thing Jessica Ruben excels at, it’s taking a story and subverting all expectations to create a totally gripping, angst filled journey. I truly thought Light My Fire would be a one-of-a-kind gem that I found and would treasure, but wouldn't find again. Wrong. The problem with loving the start of a series, is the completely overdramatic - but very real concern - that the rest won’t live up to the standard set.
Fear not friends, shame on me for ever doubting Jessica Ruben.
This book was nothing like what I had expected and, naturally, I mean that with only the highest of compliments. It was smart, provocative and brave. Ruben takes on new cultures, religions and traditions handling them with sensitivity and integrity while opening up a unique point of view for this genre. The story is unique and the writing is entirely captivating.
Gini and Darius’ story is gorgeous and I will certainly not be giving any spoilers away, but believe me when I say it’s not one to be missed!
Thank you to Jessica and her team for the ARC read!
“Would you like to dance like that,” he whispers, “for me?”
Gini is an intelligent, reserved, and beautiful young lady, who lives with her father and siblings in a small mountain village. Forced into the world of debauchery, pleasure marriage, and sold to the highest bidder was the furthest thing from her mind. But a dark and dangerous man shows up on her doorstep, and that is where she finds herself. Gini must obey to survive if she is to escape her fate. She must learn all the ways of being the perfect seductress, for she is promised to a very rich and powerful man. As her lessons begins Gini soon realizes that Darius, the man who stole her away and initially frightened her, may not be the villain after all.
I could gush about this book all day long, I am so incredibly in love with it, I cannot even begin to describe it. The story is so unique, and so brilliantly written that you do not just read this book, you breathe it.
I have been a huge fan of Jessica Ruben’s work from the very beginning, and she never ceases to amaze me. Not only is Jessica an excellent storyteller, but she is capable of out doing herself every single time. Love Her Madly is easily her best work yet, and that’s saying something seeing as all her previous books are brilliant!!
Love Her Madly is my most anticipated read of the year, and I have said it many times before, but Jessica hit it right out the park. This story had everything I didn’t realize I needed. I was swallowed up into the character’s world and that is where I stayed. My house could have burnt down around me and I wouldn’t have even noticed the heat. The book takes you on a journey that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and it is not one you will ever forget.
Love Her Madly is book two in the Sex. Rock. Mafia. series. I would definitely recommend reading the books in order to fully understand the history as there are returning characters from Light My Fire.
I cannot thank Jessica enough, it is a true honour and a pleasure to be able to review her work. As always Jessica gets ALL the stars!! I am so excited to see where she takes us next.
Ever since the Vincent & Eve triology I knew that Jessica Ruben would be on the list of my automatic buys for any book she releases. After reading Love Her Madly that decision has only been reaffirmed.
While the topics and storyline was heavy and the subject matter not easy to read, the book was so well written and beautifully crafted I really couldn't put it down. The vivid and masterful story telling had me feeling so immersed in the culture and enthralled by the Gini and Darius' love story.
Gini, the eldest of a family of seven, is delighted when she hears that she will be travelling into the city to work as a maid and be able to contribute to her family. Only upon leaving Gini realises that she's been thrust into a nightmare, stolen by the enigmatic stranger, Darius, and due to be sold to the highest bidder. But what happens when her jailer becomes the only protection and warmth she has in her cold world?
My heart hurt for Gini throughout the book but I really admired her strength and fire. I will admit I had a love hate relationship with Darius at first but as the story progressed, his past revealed and his character developed (and redeemed imo) it was all love in the end. Their love story is intense, their chemistry burned and their path to HEA isn't easy but it is beautiful.
All in all a great read! Cannot wait for the next book in the Sex. Rock. Mafia. series
PS. This is book two in the series and I would recommend reading the Book 1 first (Light My Fire)
I spent this entire book on the edge of my seat and holding my breath. Jessica Ruben takes you to another world you'd never think existed in this day and age and crafted one of the most beautiful love stories I've ever read. It's raw and sweet all at once and I plowed through most of the book in a single afternoon. This was my first book by this author, and while I'm very intrigued by Nico's story, Darius and Gini stand on their own. One of my favorite books this year, 5+ stars!
This is the first book I've read by this author and I feel very fortunate to have won a copy of this book in an author giveaway, because otherwise I might not have read this amazing book. Jessica Ruben has written a gripping story packed full of suspense, tension, violence, betrayal, passion and a slow burn love in a dangerous and heartbreaking setting for all women sold into sexual servitude.
Darius is the enforcer, a dangerous man but one who protects and teaches the girls in The Mansion, a high end brothel in Mumbai, India, full of the most beautiful women on sale. However, he is also the one who finds them and brings them to the Madam. He owes her his life and although he knows it's wrong, he justifies it all as he is saving them from a far worse fate afterall.....that is until he takes Gini.
I loved Darius, he's hard, intense, ruthless when needed but has a huge heart and Gini unlocks it from the moment he sees her. She makes him feel and that is dangerous for both of them. Gini was so strong, even when she felt helpless and alone. I loved her too, her innocence, gentle nature, intelligence and inner strength shone and their chemistry sparked!
The author has written about a difficult subject, what is basically sex trafficking in the name of and within the "convenient" laws of religion. It was so heartbreakingly realistic, the culture, the religious knowledge, she has clearly done a lot of research and it showed in the depth and detail of the writing. I feel like I've learnt a lot too and and there is a great balance between the awful things the girls have had to accept as their path and the burning love that grows between Darius and Gini. I couldn't put this book down. Although it is book two of a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. Nico whose story is in the first book is a key character in the story, but I didn't feel like I missed anything, it just made me want to go and read it asap!
Highly recommended if you want a well written, dark, mafia based love story, full of danger and heat! Can't wait to read more.
What.A.Story! WOW! Jessica Ruben has done it again with Love Her Madly (Sex.Rock.Mafia #2). I don’t think I can say the words that can really describe how amazing this story is. It is emotional, raw, and heart wrenching! You will climb to the highest peak and then free fall down. I literally had anxiety reading it. It would take hours to wind down. But I mean all of this in the best possible way! Love Her Madly will bring out immense feelings and emotions. It will stir your soul!
The Madam. The Mullah. The Protector. The Beauty. Who will win when money reigns supreme and power is everything?
There are many factors to Love Her Madly. It is obvious that there was a lot of research put into the beautifully written words. Cultures, religions, beliefs, castes, history and mafia all play a part in the story of Darius and Gini. Beginnings and endings come and go. Chance and luck are ever present.
“I need your goodness in my life. I want it like I’ve never wanted anything before.”
Gini is brave, beautiful and intelligent. Born in a small mountain village with a family secret from her past that she must live with. I adored her. Although she was naive she always made the best of her circumstances. My heart was absolutely pounding at certain points for her.
This man, who both ruined me and loved me. Stolen me but saved me. I’m his.
Darius is also a “victim” of circumstance. He is strong, dominant and a survivalist. Fate has placed him in a position that allowed him to thrive despite his surroundings. There is just so much to him. So much we learn and so much more I want to know!
The moment she entered this house, there was a change in you like a tidal wave.
Love Her Madly is a stand-alone in the Sex.Rock.Mafia series. There are cameos from Light My Fire, but I never felt like I was missing anything. I really loved it. It gave me major Vincent & Eve vibes (Jessica Ruben’s debut novel). The writing is similar and the emotions are everywhere! It was very hard to put down! So once you start, be prepared for an amazing ride that will consume you!
I have been following Jessica Ruben since her debut and have loved everything she has written. Her characters and their stories will captivate you from start to finish. And I firmly believe she has outdone herself with Love Her Madly. A story that takes us across the world on a journey that is emotional, raw, passionate, and so much more.
Darius and Gini’s story is not an easy one. From poverty, will they find a way to overcome and make their dreams come true? What will those dreams cost then? I quickly became lost in their journey and devoured the book. When love matters, choices must be made. I want to share so much more, but the rest of the story must just be experienced as you read it. I would suggest reading the previous book first, Light My Fire, as both are worth the read. I am so excited to see what comes next from this author.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog. Happy reading!
Wow! Jessica Ruben had broken the mold, yet again. She takes a romance trope and flips it on it's head! I don't want to give too much away, but I will say that the setting of this story is both unique and heartbreaking. It's not a world that the average romance reader hears much about, but it's unfortunately very real. I commend Jessica for taking the time to really research and explore the culture she writes about. 5 stars!!!
Wow! This lady blows me away with her writing! This is an edge of your seat gripping story of how Gini doesn’t give up, every thing that is thrown at her, she takes. She’s fighting to be a better person to rise above her poverty. Her father sends her away not knowing the truth of what he’s sending her to. Darius is fighting his own demons, although he’s basically the man of the house, his heart seems to pull towards Gini. He’s here to protect all the girls, but when he brings Gini in, things change. Can these two fight their feelings? Will they be able to find a way out of the house to be together or will they be separated & Gini sent to a life no girl should be forced into?
Darius was taken in by a Madam of a pleasure house after a life of living on the street. Gini is a young village girl captured by Darius to be sold as a sex slave. The two end up having things in common. Darius is tasked with preparing Gini to be sold. He develops feelings for her but can he betray the Madam who saved him from a life of poverty? Will he and Gini have a chance at a different life? An outstanding and highly recommended read.
Cue another fan girl scream! There’s a reason I see this book only has five and four ratings... because it’s amazing!!!
Gini and Darius’ back and forth relationship is crafted very well!!! Note that I’m not 100% through with this, but I’m far enough to have already made my mind up. I go by how many “awwww” I say out loud and how many times I go back and reread adorable scenes, and this is packed jammed with a romance lover’s idea.
If you are looking for a fast paced, star-crosses lovers romance, look no further!!! Jessica Ruben has you covered ❤️
She is a talented author who you need to look up right now!
I will adjust the review, not the stars, once I am finished. I don’t want it to end, so I’m trying to get there slowly 😂

5 stars does not do this book, these words justice! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
SPEACHLESS. This book took my breath away. I literally had to force myself to slowdown and stop reading before I finished it too fast. The smells. The taste. The feels. The writing was amazing. So descriptive and visual. I felt like I was transported into a new world. Can't wait to read it again.
Jessica Ruben has been an author that always delivers stories that fully immerse you into these worlds she creates. This book does not disappoint! It was refreshing to read something different in this romance genre where the story takes you to a completely different setting and circumstance that our heroine finds herself in. I found myself unable to put this book down following Gini as she navigates the ways of The Mansion and her growing feelings towards The Mansions enforcer, Darius. As the story progresses I kept asking myself where this book ties in with Light My Fire ( Sex, Rock, Mafia book 1), and when everything did fall into place it was pure magic! Seeing those previous characters had me enjoying the story even more till the very end. Although reading the first book isn’t necessarily and both could be read as standalones it definitely made the story more enjoyable for myself. If you like a good slow burn this book is for you! And those steamy scenes? Holy hell Jessica writes some of the hottest alphas. I’m loving the Mafia Shqiptare world so much and can’t get enough of it.
Yet again jessica gives us another dark, gritty, raw and real Mafia story like nothing you've read before!!
Her beautiful way of creating the story and setting the scene down to the smallest detail means your transported to this world and you live it in the depths your soul..
I loved everything about Darius and Gini's story i was gripped from the start and the grip never loosened till the very last page.
Another amazing read from an author that just keeps getting better .
