When an ethics-bound geneticist discovers an evil plot to wipe the vampire gene from existence, will he expose the generations-old atrocity and risk losing the love of his life?

Erasing the past is the only way to survive the future...

It's beyond love at first sight the day geneticist Richard Hall spots secretary Eva Fjelstad. They have so much in common—a love of rare steak, red wine and music, and they work for the renowned, yet enigmatic research corporation Sub Rosa.

The beauty of being a bright young geneticist is that Richard has access to cutting-edge technology, including a newly developed soulmate serum. A sip of the serum and a brush of hands confirm Richard and Eva are destined to be together.

But there's a problem.

Sub Rosa in the swinging sixties isn't as peace-loving as it seems, and when Richard uncovers corruption at the very core of the company—a secret that goes to the heart of his parents' disappearance—he's faced with a decision no man wants to make.

For generations, the Jade and Violet vampire clans have roamed the world, posing little threat to the blissfully ignorant human population. However, it's Richard who unearths Sub Rosa's genocidal scheme to eradicate the vampire species from existence.

Should Richard stay true to his moral compass and risk his relationship with Eva to expose the agency's deep-seated cruelty and deception? Or does he toe the company line, let vampires vanish from the world and keep his soulmate safe, secure and by his side forever?

Sandra Carmel is a bestselling Australian author of racy, flirty and downright dirty romance novels, novellas, short stories and poetry, who enjoys stimulating herself and others with words. An obsession with Jane Eyre, and her infatuation with Mr Rochester, were key motivators in commencing her romance writing journey. So far, she has taken the scenic route from steamy paranormal to sci-fi to contemporary, creating provocative stories that delve beneath the surface of desire. She reads and writes a lot, frequently disrupted by her ever-attentive, cheeky cats, and sinfully amorous array of book boyfriends.

When not immersed in a story, Sandra loves a chat. You can connect with her here:

Pity I can’t give more stars. This story was more intense and passional than I was expecting. Absolutely brilliantly written and plotted.
Sandra Carmel really brought Richard and Eva’s love story to an incredible reality that I felt they were my best friends.
Can’t wait to read more from this author

Capture is the debut novel and first book in the series The Cure by Sandra Carmel.

When genetics researcher Richard Hall sees Eva Fjelstad for the first time whilst waiting for the Sub Rosa Corporation lifts where he works, the whole universe seems to fall apart and only one thing remains, he needs to know this magnificent woman with spellbinding violet eyes. When they drink a soulmate serum and realise they are indeed made to be together, their bond and their love is only stronger. But things won’t be easy for them as Richard finds that Sub Rosa is dwelling in illegalities, murder, corruption; including a trial to eradicate the vampire gene. Richard is faced with a decision that is bound to have dramatic repercussion and change his and Eva’s life forever.

The story is told in multiple point of views and multiple timelines. But the author’s writing flows so well that all the stories intertwined, finally come together in a perfectly mastered way. Capture is a very well-researched book with an interesting and different take on vampires.

The author drops the information regarding the past of the hero and heroine and their family secrets slowly throughout the story. It contributes to build very interesting characters with a lot of depth and keeps the reader hooked and wanting to read on.

This novel has a lot of well-written sexy scenes but is also a perfect mix of suspense and romance.

If you are looking for a very well-researched romance novel with lots of sexy scenes, this series is for you. I’m looking forward to read the second book in the series, Discover, and see what’s waiting for Richard and Eva but also read more about the Jade and Violet vampire clans and the whole history around them.

Capture is the first book in The Cure Trilogy. I found this to be an interesting read. The characters are well developed and the storyline is original, flows nicely, and questions the ethics of destroying an entire species, in this case, the vampires. The love story itself was well written and intense.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

What a fabulous debut novel! Just love the use of three different timelines, and how they all fit and flow seamlessly to show us the evolution of Richard and Eva's love story. A really unique take on vampires, how they can fit into society, and how some prejudices never die. Really well written and plotted and a great 'hook' into wanting to read what comes in the next books in the series.

My first time reading Sandra Carmel and I am not disappointed.
Great read and cannot wait for the second book.
The lives of Richard and Eva, and the hidden world around them. If only they knew the truth – their decisions would be different. Instead they stumble through, not knowing if they will live – love and be happy, or die.

This story surprised me. It was a different take on the whole vampire-human thing and I loved the way Sandra weaved the interconnecting subplots and secondary characters into the story. It was like an epic romantic saga. If you love vampires and epic romantic sagas, this book's for you.

I was excited to read this book because of the vampire component that was talked about in the synopsis. Unfortunately, I read 15% of the book, and the vampire part never came up once. What I did read was a lot of angst about dating. I stopped at that point, because I just couldn’t get into this book. It’s definitely not the genre of book I’m reading right now. I am more heavily into the paranormal genre. This might be an excellent book, but just not for me.
