I'm fairly certain this is the first graphic novel I've reviewed. I don't read much of them. But my friend knows I like Figment and gifted me this collection. And I did enjoy getting to learn more about the backstory and origins of Figment and the Dreamfinder. I liked a lot of the artwork (especially the scene when lots of colorful imaginary friends show up) However, I am used to reading books with more story and character development, and found myself missing those aspects of the storytelling. I was frustrated with how much I was told that Dreamfinder was brilliant, but he seemed more often to be the cause of the trouble. That was disappointing because I wanted him to be more inspiring. I liked Figment but wished he had more character. When I saw Chimera on the front, I looked forward to learning more about him - but there wasn't much to learn unfortunately, and he really only appeared in one small part of the story. I really wanted to like Spark when he was introduced, but found his rhyming annoying and like Figment, didn't learn much about him. I understand there may be a movie in production about Figment, so I'm glad I was able to read what the back story was to begin with (though I believe there is another volume of graphic novel available as well). I do hope the movie works out and that it fills in more of the blanks on the storytelling and character arcs. Overall, this didn't encourage me to pick up more graphic novels (though I know there are many that focus more on story than action), but because it's a character I like - it was worth the read.

A quick fast read through the world of Figment. If you're a fan of Figment, this is a great origin story with the Dreammaker in a steampunk inspired world. The first 5 volumes showcase the power of imagination and being able to break through process and orderliness. The second 5 volumes brings the Dreammaker to the present and introduces some famous Disneyworld landmarks. It takes the power of creativity to draw everyone out of their own fear and loathing. Fun reads!

Quick, delightful story with fun and whimsical artwork. Enough of a storyline that I didn't feel cheated even though the plot definitely kept moving along without getting too deep. There are some fun nods for the Disney fans who pick this up while not requiring that you know anything about Disney, or the Dreamfinder, in order to thoroughly enjoy this book.

Great artwork and good story, but the character of Dreamfinder is lacking. He causes trouble, then overcomes but otherwise…. Capri is a more interesting character and Figment and Spark are fun. I like Sparks Disney classic movie related rhymes.
