When I read The Charm Offensive, book 1 in Webb’s City By the Bay Stories, I said, “…I hope The Charm Offensive’s universe becomes a series – there are other stories to be discovered with the supporting characters.” Well it did become a series & those supporting characters did get their stories – and finally Drew gets his happily ever after too! I don’t know if this is the last book in the series or if the author will revisit it later, but she is starting a new series in August so I was especially glad to catch up with some of my fave characters from this series – like Brad & Sophie … and of course Ella! (I loved loved loved that we got to hang out a lot with Ella in Three Makes a Family!)

Before I go further, can we talk about how adorable that cover is!!! Hazel adds all manner of cuteness & sweetness to this story, and she totally deserved to be the cover feature. The way she instantly connects to & trusts Drew and especially Ella was heartwarming all on its own. Then throw in Drew & Molly’s backstories and the way the community continues to come together in support of friends & family – Three Makes a Family definitely lives up to its heartwarming category.

But lest you think it’s all sweetness and light, there’s some courtroom drama going on, not to mention the sparks between Drew & Molly. I loved that they had been best friends in law school – and had crushes on each other – and I loved that, though it had been years since they’d been in touch, they were able to practically pick up right where they’d left off. An easy chemistry between them adds to the swooniness factor of their second chance/friends falling in love romance, and I enjoyed watching it unfold on the pages.

Bottom Line: Take one adorable infant, a bunch of sweet puppies, a community that stands up for its own, a bit of courtroom drama, and a second chance at love with your law school best friend … and you’ve got a book that will keep you smiling from beginning to end. Drew, Molly, and even little Hazel are a formidable team with instant heart connection – between their characters, yes, but also between them and the reader. In fact, reading Three Makes a Family is a wonderful way to spend a weekend – and it will lift your heart in the process.

Three Makes a Family is the next in the City by the Bay stories but is also a stand alone. This is a story of discovering the love that was always there in an old friendship and having the courage to accept it. Molly and Drew were friendly adversaries in law school but time and distance separated them. Now Molly is a single mother to an adorable nine month baby girl, a top defense attorney, and working towards establishing her own practice in San Francisco. Drew worked for the DA's office but is now fighting for his career after being charged with witness tampering. He is determined to do it alone to protect his family and friends but when his investigation stalls, he agrees to let Molly represent him. Neither is looking for a romantic relationship but as their time together grows so does their feelings and they must decide if love is worth the risk. The story that follows is an amazingly sweet romance with an adorable baby, cute puppies and cast of characters that add to the happily ever after.

I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.

ari Lynn Webb has, once again, created a fun, captivating Contemporary Romance winner!

Molly went against her own instincts and fell into an "in office" romance with a colleague. When a unexpected pregnancy occurred, she was devastated to discover what she thought the relationship meant and what her boyfriend viewed it to be was very different. She did not want marriage or to be a dad.

Molly accepted a challenge from an old college friend's parents to represent him in a charge which would disbar him if he is proved guilty. This gave her a reason to move and re-establish herself. She didn't need a man in her life to be a success in her career or as a good mother. He little daughter means everything to her.

Drew went over everything he could to discover who was framer him and how can he prove it without proof. He was bombarded when he discovered his parent went behind his back and hired his old college mate. He would just have to un-hire her. She was his friend and was in a bind. The least he could do was arrange to aid her in finding a decent apartment. A close friend of his had a vacancy. Little did he realize how this one gesture would endear her to his whole family!

This is a very cute story including an adorable baby girl who will sure endear the reader to her, as well as those in the story community. In fact, most of the characters are a strong, and an endearing family unit. It is easy for the reader to feel he/she is living as part of this compelling story.

In addition to realistic characters and events, the baby girl on the Cover Image is a perfect depiction! The title is very well chosen, also. The only thing I found disconcerting is the tumultuous relationship was slightly dragged out. I prefer a faster-paced story.

I offer a Four and a Half Stars rating.

I've yet to meet a Carrie Lynn Webb book that I didn't love. She writes the cutest, sweetest, most charming clean romance books, and Three Makes a Family once again proves this! I've read two other books in The City by the Bay series (my reviews are linked above), but all of these books can be read as stand alone books.

This is a bit like a second chance at romance book; however, Molly and Drew, the main characters, were never romantically involved. They were best friends at law school, and Molly always challenged Drew to do better. She believed in him more than he believed in himself. And Molly was always driven by her need to be the best and to attain a better, more stable life than she had growing up.

When Drew's career is on the line, it's Molly that Drew's parents call upon to help their son. After all, she's one of the best attorneys in all of California, and she just happens to have moved to Los Angeles.

Drew and Molly have their ups and downs while working on his case. Drew finds one of the big "ups" is Molly's baby, Hazel. Of course he adores his nieces and nephews, but he and Hazel quickly form a heartwarming bond. I absolutely love how Drew interacts with Hazel throughout the book. It's as if Hazel knows more than Drew or Molly do! Babies are pretty smart.

The way that the romance develops in Three Makes a Family is very believable since Drew and Molly knew each other very well years ago. People do grow and change, but personalities and chemistry almost never do. Drew and Molly do clash at times, but that's part of real relationships.

The plot, pacing, characters, and romance are all what I've come to expect from one of Carrie Lynn Webb's books, and like I said, I've never been disappointed! I highly recommend this heartwarming book.

As lawyer and single mother Molly McKinney relocates to San Francisco, life becomes more complicated than she expected, of course. Representing former law-school rival Drew Harrington is a challenging case, but she cannot pass on the opportunity. Neither wanted to find love, but working together on the case might just offer them what they needed.

Cari Lynn Webb’s Three Makes a Family proves to be a sweet addition to her City By the Bay series (though it can be read on its own). Seeing the frenemy relationship between Molly and Drew grow and change is a delight—and naturally, a darling baby girl makes their story all the sweet.

If you enjoy sweet contemporary romances, pick this book up.

OK, let me just get this out of the way. Every scene in Three Makes a Family that included Drew and Hazel, or Drew and Nala, melted my heart.

His easy confidence and her delight in his attention just proved what a good-hearted man he was. Something Molly knows from their days in college together, but she’s been burned before and learned to keep her personal and business lives separate.

Cari Lynn Webb returns readers to this wonderfully tight-knit group of friends while introducing them to Molly, Hazel, and Drew. Romance, humor, friendship, and family fill the space around the conflict throughout the story.

Fans of the series will enjoy catching up with a few of the other couples. The author’s ability to pull the reader in and make them feel a part of this group shines once again.

Thank you in advance to the author, Cari Lynn Webb, for providing a complimentary review copy through Prism Book Tours. A positive review was not requested or required, and all words are my own.

This was not my first introduction to the author’s writing, and it certainly won’t be my last.

I did an independent review for In Love by Christmas, which is book #5 in the City by the Bay series. I also reviewed book #6, Her Surprise Engagement through Prism Book Tours. I also read Montana Wedding, again through Prism.

While I enjoyed some books more than others, this book – Three Makes a Family – is by far the best book I’ve read by the author.

It doesn’t help that the cover is just SO super cute!! That little cherub looks like she’s up for some mischief!! But, she’s SO stinkin’ cute!!

Right off I LOVED Molly and Hazel, and I loved how much Molly was dedicated to her daughter as well as finding a good job to provide for her. Drew was definitely an interesting character. While he was so natural with Hazel, it was a shame to see how focused on his career he was – or rather would be when he gets cleared of the charges.

Molly’s ex Derrick is some piece of work as well.

Some characters from the “series” are not mentioned: Josie and Theo from book #5, and others I am not sure about. I didn’t really miss them either. And, despite this being a series, this acts like a great standalone read.

This book contains a baby, a great family vibe, and quite a bit of light suspense (on Drew’s investigation and case).

Webb started right off with poor Drew. Hearing a motion denied can never be easy. He doesn’t know what to do, but it’s a good thing Molly drew him as a client. Yet, he knows that what is going down could harm anyone trying to help him.

At the same time, Molly is moving forward with full custody of her daughter, a daughter her ex isn’t interested in. Right off, I didn’t trust Derrick.

But, while they’re not violent charges, the charges against Drew are serious. And, it even stretched towards his family and brings out a bit of suspense, so it is a fairly exciting read that is balanced with family and friends.

And, it doesn’t stop at Drew; one of the people in his office is also affected – Gina.

The author realistically showed the life Molly juggles as she balances work and mom life. I loved one part where Molly made it clear that her daughter filled her heart, while work filled her life. Yet, Molly struggles to find a nanny.

At the halfway point Drew and Molly realize they are each other’s best friend.

They eventually find a witness who will help Drew, which ends in quite the sad manner setting his case back. And, it goes worse for Molly when a social worker visits.

But, as Molly has learned – trust and love is all you can do. And, while something we do is who we are – is it who we want to be? Webb really tugs the heartstrings with that.

This was a super quick and easy read due to the short chapters (for the Heartwarming line). The fast, but not rapid, pace kept me wanting to turn the pages. Webb “drew” me right in with this one from the first word. And, after page 239, I just couldn’t put it down.

It did lose me with Drew’s boss’ part in something, and it is never resolved as to the motive. In addition, an issue with Molly’s ex, Derrick, again the motive wasn’t too clear either. Overall, this was a fantastic read, and would love to see what Webb is up to next.

I LOVE the Heartwarming line because the stories are sweet and they’re clean reads. These can be enjoyed by people who love cleaner romance and those who enjoy Christian fiction even though there are no Christian themes in theme.

Fans of the author; and those who’ve read the previous books won’t want to miss this one!

A terrific contemporary romance, Cari Lynn Webb’s latest tale for Harlequin Heartwarming Three Makes a Family is absolutely adorable!

Molly McKinney is a lawyer who is driven by one thing and one thing only: being the absolute best she can possibly be. Being average is certainly not something Molly is interested in and she spent her life working as hard as she possibly can to prove to everyone that she was simply unbeatable. Being the best has always been important to Molly, but now that she has relocated to San Francisco, she certainly cannot afford any distractions of any kind. Keeping her eye on the ball and focusing on achieving her every single objective is of paramount importance to the lawyer. Molly thought that nothing and nobody could distract her from her path – but she hadn’t counted on her former rival Drew Harrington coming into her life and turning her entire world upside down…

Drew and Molly might have once been almost enemies, but when he is accused of witness tampering, he knows that the only person who will help him clear his name is his former rival. There might have been times in her life when Molly didn’t have the highest of opinions about her rival, but now that circumstances have changed and Drew needs her, Molly will leave no stone unturned to ensure that Drew’s reputation is not damaged further by this outrageous claim. With the demands of her job and her baby daughter, Molly has certainly got her hands fully, but the more time she spends with Drew the more she finds herself falling for him!

Does the busy mom and lawyer have room in her busy life for love? Or is she going to let the love of her life slip through her fingers?

A heartfelt romantic read beautifully layered with humor, emotion and intensity, Three Makes a Family will have you smiling from cover to cover. Molly and Drew are two terrific characters whose witty banter, electric chemistry and compelling love story will keep you hooked and eagerly turning those pages.

In Three Makes a Family, Cari Lynn Webb has written a sweet and compelling romance that sparkles with warmth and heart which is sure to delight romantics everywhere.

I've had the opportunity to read several books in Cari Lynn Webb's City by the Bay series, and I have to say that this one was my favorite so far. Molly and Drew are old friends and fate seems to have brought them together again, as Molly has moved back to the area with her daughter and Drew is in need of a good lawyer to help him clear his name. You can tell that they go way back and were close back in the day. Molly is a strong, independent woman who is doing the best that she can with her baby, since her ex has washed his hands of them both. I fell in love with Drew immediately, especially because of the way that he took to Molly's baby, Hazel. (And I just love that name!) You cannot resist a man who loves and does well with children.

[And I'm not one to often comment on covers, but this is the most precious cover I've seen in a long time!]

Add in the drama and mystery of trying to clear Drew's name of witness tampering charges, and you have enough lawyer action to be reminiscent of a good John Grisham novel from back in the day, with plenty of romance to fill your heart. We get to see plenty of characters from previous novels, and you have to love the friendship that all of them have maintained and how seamlessly they embrace new people into their fold.

I think the only thing that tripped me up was at one point, Molly was getting into more detail about her childhood with Drew, and how that shaped her and her dreams in life. I feel like that was more for the reader's benefit, and Drew would have already known these things about Molly, considering their previous friendship. Or perhaps he was completely clueless or she just didn't want to get into all of that back then. I guess in the grand scheme of things, it isn't that big of a deal.

This book definitely works as a standalone, though I do recommend the other books in the series as well. I hope we have more books in this series so that I can check in on these two!

I received a requested review copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Three Makes a Family is the seventh book in the City By the Bay series but can be read as a stand-alone. I read it as a stand-alone but after meeting all the couples from the earlier books I really want to go back and read them. It was a clean, sweet romance that touched my heart. I loved seeing the friendships grow and the support the friends had for each other.
Molly McKinney and Drew Harrington went to law school together and were best friends. After graduation they each went to different areas of law. Molly had become one of the top criminal defense attorneys in Los Angeles while Drew had gone on to work for the District Attorney in San Francisco. Now ten years after graduation Molly is a single mom with no family and has moved to San Francisco to establish her new practice. Drew has been accused of witness tampering on a previous murder case and representing him would help Molly’s reputation. Drew fears he is being set up and refuses to have Molly represent him. He wants to protect Molly’s career, but he realizes he needs her help after someone starts bringing his family into the situation.
I loved Drew’s dedication to his family and how he was always trying to protect everyone else. He was willing to suffer the loss of his own career rather than have someone else’s life ruined. While working with Molly on his case, he realizes he works too hard and needs to balance his life by spending more time with his family. Molly was goal-oriented but was strong enough to change her life and become a single parent. Her love and concern for Hazel could be felt. She had never really been part of a family so bonding with Drew’s friends meant a lot to her. This was an amazing book full of good-hearted friendships, family love, and generosity.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a sweet romance between two long time friends who were destined to be together. And one adorable baby girl by the name of Hazel.

Molly and Drew, both lawyers, have been friends since their college days. Molly and her baby girl have moved back home due to Molly's ex being a real jerk. Molly wants sole custody since he never really cared for either of them. Molly gets her chance to start her own firm when she is hired by Drew's family to represent him in a case that could destroy his career. Drew does not want Molly to help him as he fears that whoever is out to get him, will come after her.

There is a bit of a mystery that Molly and Drew need to figure out, especially why Drew has become the fall guy. What is actually going on and who is behind his downfall? Molly is also having issues with her ex, as he seems to want to make her life as uncomfortable as possible.

Molly has always loved Drew and their working together can certainly bring out the best and worst in them. Drew might have been a bit overprotective which resulted in shutting Molly out. Their romance was worth the wait, even with all the ups and downs. I enjoyed this sweet romance of two people finally getting together.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

I love this series by Ms. Webb. All the books standalone. You will see characters from other books in each. In Three Makes a Family I truly enjoyed the heartwarming feelings throughout. When lawyer and single mother Molly McKinney is found defending Drew Harrington that man she had difference of opinions with in school.. but she would not turn her back when he needed help. Drew wasn’t happy about the way things were handled about Molly taking his case. But she was professional. She would help him, and plus she was the best. The only problem was it might just ruin her career if she took him in as her client. He couldn’t let her do it, and now finding out she’s a mother. That’s why he had to turn her down. But when things get complicated with his family he rethinks his feelings. They worked together to clear his name, and they found the proof they needed things turned side ways. There was still one person who could prove his innocence yet he refused it. Molly had to do what was right even if he hated her.

See what happens and buy the book. I was happy to read and review this book for Ms. Webb. All thoughts are my own.
I also purchased a book to pass on.

I'm so glad this is part of a series! Molly McKinney is an attorney who is looking for a fresh start with her 9 month old daughter Hazel. Drew Harrington was a popular and successful district attorney until he is accused of witness tampering and his future is on the line.

Drew and Molly went through law school together and challenged each other. Molly moved north to start with a high powered law firm, while Drew stayed in San Francisco and pursued DA work. When Molly returns to San Francsico, Drew's family hires her to represent Drew in the witness tampering case. The more Molly looks into things, the more suspicious these allegations are. Drew is hesitant to accept her help, but in the end realizes there's no one better to turn to.

This was a very sweet love story and I really enjoyed the mystery behind the allegations and learning the truth about the whole situation. Drew is surrounded by a slew of very interesting friends that I look forward to reading about in past books of the series. I enjoyed the writing style and will be reading more books by Cari Lynn Webb. My thanks to the author for an advanced reader copy of the story!

Three Makes a Family by Cari Lynn Webb is a very cute heartwarming, clean romance. Drew Harrington and Molly McKinney met in Law School. Drew's family hires Molly to act as his legal counsel for Drew. Drew has been charged with witness tampering and wanted Molly wanted to start her law career in a new town so she moved to where Drew lives to defend him. Drew doesn't want to involve her in his mess that he knows he is not guilty but can't prove it. They work together to prove his innocence. Drew doesn't like how Molly goes about getting his innocence. Drew and Molly were getting closer when he stopped talking to her because he didn't like how she handled this. Drew and Molly are surrounded by loving and supportive family and friends. I don't want any spoilers so you must read this very heartwarming story. I was happy to read and review this book for Cari Lynn Webb. All thoughts are my own. Thank you for the advanced copy.

Another good book where Cari-Lynn folds in family, friends, humor, human caring mixed in nicely with a drama event. Drew Harrington is a lawyer who is faced with being charged for witness tampering, the possibility of being disbarred, and going to jail.
Molly McKinley, college friend and top notch criminal lawyer, moves from LA to San Francisco. Molly left LA and a top law firm after being dumped by the father of her child. There is good humour involving Drew’s family, humanity when Drew assists women who need legal advice, pro bono and when they all come to the aid of a sick mother dog and her five puppies
This is the type of book you can sit back relax and finish within a day.
Although we learn early who the culprit is, you’re wondering how they’re going to get Drew out of his dilemma
This is a good feeling story I highly recommend. I received a copy of the book for my honest opinion

I have read several books by this author now and each one keeps getting better and better. I loved this story and especially the main characters Molly and Drew. I could totally relate to Molly in so many ways with her trying to balance work and family as a single mother, making her family a priority, and fighting for whats right.

Both were very likeable, relatable people which is rare for lawyers in my opinion. (I worked along side many different attorneys for years as a paralegal so I don’t have a high opinion of them anymore.) It was nice to see their work side and personal side through out the story.

I also liked reading about Drew’s family and their day to day city life. This story was fun to read, interesting plot with some drama and clean romance that kept my interest from beginning to end. I really, really enjoyed it!

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

Molly and Drew have a history. This only complicates matters when Drew's career is on the line and Molly seems the only one able to save him. Forced to work together, how do they deal with the passions of the past...and the disappointments while at the same time discover how they've each changed.

I like how this couple had to learn to let go of preconceived notions and come to get to know each other all over again. Drew was perfectly perfect...kind to children, animals, those in need, and really everybody at the expense of himself sometimes. Molly was real, a career woman struggling with being a single parent, at times lost in her own self-doubt and having to really remember what she's made of, and more importantly, how to trust others all over again.

I really enjoyed this book, more than I expected. The story never lagged, and the romance was very sweet. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author!

Engaging story about 2 lawyers who were best friends through college and law school reconnecting when life throws each of them a curve ball. I liked Molly’s generous, forgiving, caring, open heart personality. I loved her unconditional love for her daughter and her priorities which put Hazel first. I liked her unconditional support of Drew and her new friends.
Drew changes after Molly reenters his life. He opens up, becomes more playful and less work only orientated. He rejoins his family. Cari captures all of their emotions as they face life’s unfairness. This is my first story by Cari. I am going to check out more of her City By The Bay series and her other work.. I liked her sensitivity with uncomfortable topics: broken relationships, child custody and support, false accusations, broken trust, workaholics and depression.

Another in the City by the Bay series, in which criminal defense lawyer Molly McKinney is hired by prosecuting attorney Drew Hamilton's mother to defend him against charges of witness tampering. If he loses his case, he also loses his license to practice law.

Molly and Drew worked together in law school, so things should be easy, but they're not. Neither fully trusts the other and their respective hearts to keep their relationship totally professional. And when one exonerating witness dies and Molly has to prevail on another whom Drew did not want mixed up in the case, he proves he doesn't trust Molly or himself--until he's forced to confront why. What's he going to do after Molly wins his case, but refuses to talk to him? It takes his skills as a character witness in her custody case for her daughter to convince her.

Three Makes a Family by Cari Lynn Webb is about old friends Molly McKinney and Drew Harrington. They met in law school, where Molly’s encouragement nudged Drew to graduate at the top of their class and Drew’s suggestions kept them laughing and remembering that life is more than just work.

Years later, Molly’s new to town with her baby girl, and Drew is facing a serious threat to his career. His family hires Molly to act as his legal counsel, but as they renew their friendship, it seems that they might also have the potential for a more personal connection.

Ms Webb’s characters are well written and engaging. Drew and Molly are surrounded by loving and supportive family and friends. I enjoyed this read and look forward to catching up with Ms Webb’s backlist!

If you want a soft, easy romance read then this book will appeal to your reading senses. I can't rate it higher than a three because I honestly saw no new material in this book. It is a very formulatic romance novel and while it is well written it doesn't go anywhere.
I guess we are supposed to be worried about what the main characters might be endangered by but it (the danger) is never really produced. Doggon, the person supposedly threatening the characters never even makes an appearance on the pages.
It was a light, fluffy read and covered all the bases of cute kids, fluffy puppies and worried hero and heroine. It just all seemed too manufactured in my opinion. I like a little more meat to my escape reading.

This was such a heartwarming story. I imagine little Hazel being the life of every party as people LOVE babies. Drew and Molly had been best friends in law school but parted ways to build their careers. Tragedy brings them back together and with Hazel in the picture they pick back up where they left off in law school but the stakes are much higher. Doubt causes Drew to be a typical man and push Molly away but he is miserable and misses her just as she misses him. I’m glad his mom and brother were able to talk some sense into him before he left her get away. Also glad Molly stood her ground even though it hurt her to be without him. In the end they get their happy ever after.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

I have been waiting for Drew’s story since he was introduced in his brother’s book, The Charm Offensive (book one in City By The Bay series). Drew is such a likable and charming character. His chemistry with Molly turns the pages on its own. Too many scenes had me fawning over Drew. Drew’s rescue of the puppies and their mother with his brother Brad, and each scene he held Molly’s daughter. Not only is the cover of this book captivating, but the story line is also enjoyable, which is all about character growth. A heartwarming romance that made me smile, laugh, and shed a tear. I highly recommend this book. I hope there’s another City By The Bay story in the works. Reviewed for Still Moments Magazine.

I received an ARC of this heartwarming book. I liked the characters and the plot. The book was well paced and an easy read. Molly and Drew reunite under very difficult circumstances and have to work their way past preconceived ideas on friendship, trust, exes, family, and love. I don't think anyone could resist Hazel! While Molly and Drew are the major players, the secondary characters are very invested in their roles in Molly and Drew's lives. Fans of Debbie Macomber would appreciate Ms. Webb's style and characters.

I enjoyed this ARC immensely and want to thank those that sent it to me in advance for my honest review. Ms. Webb has a charming way of writing. She has a knack for writing a romantic story that does not need extremely explicit love scenes. Her characters are warm and friendly and care about each other and you can't help but get involved with them in a nice way. Once you look at the cover, you won't be able to resist buying this book! I highly recommend this book - it is well worth your time in reading it. It certainly was worth mine!

Three Makes a Family is an amazing, powerful story that contains puppies, a darling baby, abuse of power, corruption, manipulating witnesses and more. Drew is the fall guy who will lose his livelihood, Molly is the old friend who wants to defend him and establish herself in a new city. Will Molly and Drew be able to clear his name or will they both go down? This is an exciting book that kept my attention from page one. The characters are well done. The intricate plot is well executed and, of course, there is a romance. I highly recommend this book.

New beginnings written about in a touching, sensible and heartouching manner. "Drew wouldn’t walk away from his own child. Not like Derrick had. He would most likely barter for fun toys mixed in with the educational ones. And insist a backyard required both a sandbox and a swing set. After all, he still made wishes in fountains. But Drew’s parenting skills were not involved here"
