Sophia, a senior in the Hopkins Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program and the daughter of wealthy parents – prominent oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Charles Scott, and an equally successful realtor mother, Alice – finds herself caught in the sights of infamous bad boy, Joseph Walker. But Sophia is not like the other girls – something Joseph discovers for himself on their first meeting. But his ego doesn’t let her just walk. How far will Joseph be able to go to net this catch? Especially when she keeps pulling him farther and farther away from his comfort zone? Will Sophia be able to see through his arrogance, and accept the feelings she’s had for him since day one? With both of them coming from seemingly different worlds, is it possible to find new comfort zones within themselves? Or will these differences keep them apart?
Okay - first off - this was a book that was part of a "steamy romance" giveaway and there is not one spec of romance - no kiss, no date, no sex - nothing!!
Second issue - ends on a cliffhanger - like prepping for a kiss, arms around each other moment and bam! end of book. Seriously WTF?!? I thought for a moment that my kindle just forgot to download the rest of the book, but nope that was really the end of it. Surprise surprise - there's a book 2 that picks up on what would be the next chapter in a normal book. I truly dislike when authors do this as a way to keep you buying 99 cent installments in their book.
Thankfully I didn't have to pay for books 1 or 2 in this series, but I can almost guarantee how book 2 will end which will force you to read book 3.
The writing itself isn't overly bad, although the use of the pet names is grating and repetitive. I do like though that the passage of time is real and that it's not being an overly rushed relationship.
Basically, it's free to download, then after forty pages, it says "Click Here to continue reading through Kindle Unlimited." Uhhhhh, either offer your product at actual value, or offer it for free, but don't offer it and then induce people into a subscription they don't want. It was also incredibly dull. The characters wasted alot of words cycling back to "I'm gonna ask her number" or whatever.
This book felt unfinished, like a first draft. I already hated the mmc because he sounded like a total creep. The way he kept asking for her number and just would not get the hint was just crazy. He would not leave her alone, and the fact that he was so full of himself to think she would want to be with him after just one interaction is weird. There also wasn't much of a backstory for anything. This book was very empty and bland ---- Recommend to others: No
My first by Amelia Russell. I like We Were Once Strangers. Amelia Russell does a wonderful job writing the storyline. She pulled me and I like the characters. I can’t wait to see where she them in the series.
This is a new Author to me. I enjoyed reading this very short story, but it ends on a continuation. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was not for me in the least! I ended up rereading multiple sections of this 42 page book because it was just difficult to tell what the writer was trying to say. Would NOT recommend.
This was my first Amelia Russell book and I will say I really enjoyed it. The story line was sweet and kept my attention. A guy who comes from nothing but is “hot” and cocky. A girl who is wealthy attending a well know college yet she’s sweet and down to earth and focused on her studies. They meet and she isn’t impressed with his attitude but there is something about him. He is taken a back by her because she just didn’t fall right into his arms but yet there is something different about her that sets her apart from all the other girls. I am anxious to see where Amelia takes with the second book.
