Have you been rejected, humiliated or hurt by someone in church? People act as if the wounds we’ve experienced from people who say they love Jesus can be wiped away, smoothed over, or fixed in a few short steps. Gussie Mae Daniels has been church hurt and no matter what she does she simply can't "pray it away". Her father the great Reverend Daniels will make sure that his words are heard in church and not hers. All her life she's been shamed and silenced. This read is about folks who know "Hymns" and not "Him" and this book will take you on a journey that I'm not sure you're prepared for but keep reading along to find out how far can one be pushed before they push back. This is a semi-true story.
That was quite the story! It was a quick read about a small town with a handful of deceitful people. In its pages, a secret so dark was uncovered and Gussie would have never had the courage to confront all of her abusers without a kind and compassionate friend by her side. At 36, life just wasn't worth suffering anymore.
While I appreciate the message and shock factor, I felt the book wasn't developed enough, even for a novella. Editing was definitely needed; in addition to the errors, the writing wasn't polished enough.
I'm still amazed, even after reading. This story is very relatable, and It brings out so many different emotions. I highly recommend this read, another awesome read from this author. Looking forward to more.
