Jordan Grant is a lost soul, who changed majors three times in college before deciding on English. Because she has about as much patience as her beautiful, wonderful (did she mention ah-mazing!) younglings, she graduated a year early and then went to law school because...
Well, she mentioned she’s a lost soul, right?
A special place in her heart is devoted to edgy alpha males and bad boys with naughty mouths. She loves to get lost in the blur between love and hate and is especially fond of prince charmings with dents in their crowns and strife in their souls.
She is an avid fan of all things sweet including red wine and cupcakes (red velvet, please!). When she’s not daydreaming about the characters in her head, she enjoys (attempting to) garden, petting furry animals, and wrangling her family into day-trip adventures.
This story is very interesting, however, I didn't like the writing style. There were way too many metaphors and comparisons. From my vantage, completely excessive and unfortunately, they didn't succeed in making the story flow naturally. Honestly, they were the kind of simple metaphors without a deeper meaning, without playing with the meaning of the words or contexts.
Regarding the characters, I wish it would've been always Hartley and Ian, without Archie trying to get Hartley too. Despite that, I did like the characters. I admire Hartley the most, her incredible loyalty to Molly, her resilience, and snarky remarks. She doesn't have it easy when she first enters the academy, she enters this new world to her with all these rules that make no sense to her. Plus, Ian isn't making it any easier. Lust and chemistry between them are so palpable, which is probably what I loved the most about the book.
The story itself is very intriguing but I don't know if I'd really recommend it to others. The metaphors made it very hard for me to really enjoy the reading.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Bully romance is one of my favourite sub-genre especially if it's executed wise. I stumbled with this book while I'm scrolling in one of my groups in fb and I'm glad I give it a try.
Beautifully Wicked is the story of Ian and Harlow, Ian is come from old money while Harlow is come from a middle class family. Yes there is bullying but not so much, Queen bitch character is also present in here, but what I like the most is the chemistry between our main characters, the push and pull arc. Its angsty and slow burn.
"She is lava about to erupt from a long-frozen mountain. She is a shower of falling stars on a cloudless summer day. She is a hurricane minutes before it runs ashore onto miles of pristine beach. She is... everything."
The author writing style is fantastic, its very poetic. solid characterization and plot wise.

Harlow's grandparents have just won the lottery and now part of the money has been put towards Harlow's education and now she is thrust into the world of the rich and wealthy, the old blue blood, and the new money. Harlow doesn't know anyone but her roommate Molly and so she tries to befriend Molly. The thing though is that Molly has a reputation and everyone who befriends Molly ends up an outcast - it's just part of the rules as a few years ago Molly was popular and dating one of the elites and then tragedy happened and they blamed Molly for it, never hearing what happened that fateful night. The boys decided to write a list of rules and make Molly pay for her actions as if they couldn't have their friend back, they would make her life hell and not worth living. Harlow though isn't one to abide by rules and she will be friends with who she wants and isn't about to roll over for them. Ian Beckett though wants Harlow for himself as does a couple of other elite guys and will try and make her choose aside. What happens though when he learns that she is different and not one to fold just like that to his beck and call. I liked Beautifully Wicked as loved Harlow's quick wit and her sense of humor. Now and again in the world of bullymance, you come across a diamond series - one that stands out. Jordan Grant's series was an amazing start and one I will be continuing with as I also loved the added twist of Molly's life and what happened while she was away the year after the accident.
Well that was a let down, I'm kind of disappointed with the ending after a strong start. The whole reveal at the end was rushed and anti-climatic. Safety:
This was so boring and it gave me so much second-hand embarassment. I love when books have this lines where the MC laugh and joke around some typical, cringy and lame pickup lines. Well, the H whole personality was based around those pickup lines. How can an author consider that good writing? Also, I don't know if I've been too much on tiktok or what's the issue here, but I decided this book wasn't my cup of tea when the h said something like "what's wrong with people who like their coffee with more milk and sugar than coffee, god I don't understand them" The "i'm not like other girls" trope here was so forced that it made me constantly cringe. Now, about those metaphors, nah nah nah. No please. They were so basic and it reminded me to when I went to elementary school and they made us write poems. That's how bad they were. I still think I should say that I didn't finish this book, I left it around chapter 6 I think, because it was too boring and lame.
Beautifully Wicked by Jordan Grant is a high school bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Lula Larkin. This is the first book in the Voclain Academy series.
This is the first book of Jordan's that I have read, and it won't be my last. The relationship between Ian and Harlow is messy and a bit toxic but you can't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series Beautifully Wanted to get more of Ian and Harlow's story.
Lula did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like academy romances, bully romances, or enemies-to-lovers romances.
The basis for the story is a set of Rules written to cover how a supporting character will be bullied on a continuous basis. The FC is then caught up in the Rules due to befriending her and therefore, according to said Rules, must also be bullied. This makes no real sense but let’s just go with it. You then have the MC as the main “bully” and the FC seems to take very little issue with the fact that she is being bullied (which is bizarre) and the focus is then on the FC being bullied as opposed to the actual individual who is the basis for the Rules. The other participants in the Rules seem to be far more set on bullying the FC (and being really nasty) than the other individual. There are a couple of situations which are a material escalation and yet the FC seems to gloss over them and nothing is reported to the headmaster or the police. What’s that about? Again, makes little sense but as the reader you try to go with it.
Midway through the FC refuses to stop befriending the individual being bullied until suddenly she seems to agree to do so. I say “seem” because it is unclear exactly what happens as the FC seems to still be friends with the individual but the bullying stops and she becomes the girlfriend of the MC. Then there is a sudden switch in terms of the MC and his behaviour which comes out of left field and has nothing to do with the bullying storyline. The switch seemed to be purely to create some kind of tension and drama and a reason for the FC/MC to clash.
There are about 3 other books in the series and I will not be reading anymore. The story is all over the place and I could not connect with any of the main characters. As a final comment (and purely a personal one) having the MC constantly being referred to as an individual who wears loafers does not create a strong MC in my view. The author should spend less time on trying to describe rich/privileged and more on story depth and coherence - FYI “Birkin” is spelt with an “i” not “Burkin”!
I like Ian and Harlow story there was chemistry hitting off them from beginning and story was very intense and kept you wanting to see what happens next
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Harlow is the new girl in the exclusive Voclain Academy. Loyal to her friends, with a sharp tongue which doesn’t shut up, she doesn’t recoil easily. But she is struggling to cope with the loss of her best friend and twin brother William, and bc of what happened to him she suffers panic attacks and takes pills. Her roommate is Molly, aka The Thing, a girl who is bullied by all the popular kids at school for something that happened a couple years ago. Anyone close to her will suffer the same fate as her, but that doesn’t prevent Harlow from becoming one of her best friends and standing up to defend her. Ian is the QB of the team, popular and rich, who is already getting tired of parties, alcohol and meaningless sex. The day he sees Harlow for the first time, he falls in love with her and tries by all means to convince her to give him a chance, although without much success. And it’s that Harlow can’t tolerate what they do with Molly, regardless of how attracted and tempted she feels for Ian. Due to the Rules, Ian must also bully Harlow for being friends with Molly, but when they are alone or no one hears him, he does nothing but whisper nice and sinful things to her. And Harlow is confused by his constant changes in attitude.
“I want to fuck you like you’re the last meal before my execution,” I breathe. “I want to fuck you until I die so the last thing I know is your arms.” “I want to bury myself inside you and stay there forever.” “I want to bury myself inside you until I find the meaning of life.” “I am going to taste your lips until the day I die, Harlow Weathersby. I am going to fuck you until I am ripped from this earth. I am going to own you, body and soul, for life. You are mine, and I am yours.”
“You don’t know me.” “I feel like I’ve known you my entire life, like my soul has been searching for yours.”
“You are fire, and I am paper,” I manage with a sob. “If I give in, then I lose everything I am, everything I stand for.”“You’ve got it backward, Stormy,” he growls, his teeth baring with the words. “You are consuming me alive, but I don’t want to exist without the burn.”
“You are everything, Harlow,” he says, his voice low and soft like he’s in confession. “You are my gravity and stars and air and life. You are my entire universe.”
When this couple finally gets together, passion and love flow until something happens with Ian that makes Harlow rethink everything.
The first book that I read by this author but not the last, I have read it in one go. I ❤️it.
This was an insanely addictive book - and quite possibly one of the hottest books I’ve ever read! I wasn’t too sure what to think going into this one, I haven’t read much in the way of this particular genre, but I ended up really enjoying it!
Particular highlights of this book for me included the writing style. It was very poetic and not at all what I was expecting. I found that it really complemented the story and the way the main characters’ minds worked. Maybe a few too many metaphors and such, but all the same, I think the writing was definitely my favourite element in this one.
Also the two main characters were lots of fun! I quite enjoyed being in their minds and watching their relationship unfold. Their chemistry was enough to set my kindle on fire! I think they could have used a tad more development as the story progressed. They were super unique and individual at the beginning, but as the story continued I would have liked to see them change with it a little more since this was such a character driven book, but hopefully we see that in the next one.
Like the writing, the pacing was also well suited to the story. It had its fast moments and slower moments. It felt very rhythmic and I thought that also complemented the style of the novel rather nicely. The plot was quite good too and I really liked the way we got given information about both characters’ pasts, there was no cringe-y info-dumping that I’ve sometimes experienced with novels written in this kind of style. There was also a super shocking plot twist at the end that I did not see coming!!
All in all, this was a quick and enjoyable read and I really want to know what’s next for this set of characters!

"She enters my world like a comet plummeting to earth, brilliant, beautiful, and capable of catastrophic damage."
Beautiful Wicked is book 1 (of 4) in the completed Voclain Academy series. This book sets up the backdrop for the Voclain world. It's definitely a dark, high school bully story, but there's so (so, so) much more going on.
The bullying revolves around "the rules" that were created when a friend group is fractured due to a tragedy. Enter transfer student Harlow Weathersby. Harlow gets caught between the fractured friends and their "rules". Besides navigating a new school, the bullies she encounters, and friends with baggage, Harlow is carrying the impact of her own family tragedy.
Whether Harlow wants it or not, she's been "claimed" by the super rich, super popular football quarterback, Ian Beckett. This leads to angst, drama and lots of confusion.
Jordan Grant doesn't shy away from mental health issues and the impacts of addiction. Check the TW if this might concern you. I read "Viscous Love", Jordan Grant's newest release prior to reading this book and the characters' mental health struggles are front and center in both books. The author doesn't shy away from it and handles it with honesty and grace.
Beautifully Wicked is a dark, angsty, bulky romance that weaves its way to a HEA. Ian and Harlow's story continues through the Voclain Academy series. Viscous Love (available now - set in college) is Evertett's story (he gets a HEA with another Voclain student) and Jordan's upcoming release Brutal Hearts (January 2023) will be Archie's story.
“You are my gravity and stars and air and life. You are my entire universe.”
I received this free eARC novel from the author and BookSirens. This is my honest review.
I was instantly intrigued by this book when I read the synopsis, and once I started reading it, I was sucked into the story and couldn't put it down. Harlow has been through a lot, and I can't imagine starting at a new school where you just know they are going to be entitled and snobby because they have money. But I love the snark she gives Ian, and any other "all-star" student who runs the school. She has no idea what situation she has been put into the middle, but her loyalty to Molly is amazing and I would love to have a friend like her in my life.
Ian is instantly blown away the second he sees Harlow. The reader is a bit lost when it comes to the Rules, so I was a bit curious and baffled when he went rushing to say she's his, but I gotta tell ya, if I was Harlow and he said that about me, I wouldn't say no! But Ian works so hard with Harlow. He admires the fight in her, the snarky comments she gives back, and he is determined to win her over. Some may say he was a bully, but underneath it all, his true thoughts and reactions (THANK YOU for Ian's POV!!) he was weirdly trying to help and also break down Harlow's resistance.
I'm very much invested into this story now, and I really need more. Whether it's more of Ian and Harlow, or of the other characters, I am now in this to the end and I have subscribed to the authors newsletter to get more info ASAP :) I definitely recommend this novel and I think other readers will devour it just like I did!
Ian Beckett was distracted from the football sailing by his head by the girl walking near the field. Her hair was almost white with a black strip near her forehead. She was a poster girl in her Volclain Academy uniform. A poster he wished was on the wall in his bedroom.
But, then he watches in horror when he realizes who she is heading towards. He takes off running hoping to intercept Finn Berkshire who is also heading her way. She doesn't realize the war she has just walked into or that she has picked the wrong side.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. I love Ian and Harlow and all of the secondary characters - Chase, Archie, Everett, Molly and Raven. And there are definitely those who you hate - Finn, Aurora and her gang.
Ian is the King of Volclain Academy and Quarterback. Ian knew he was a class A jerk, but didn't care, but he had claimed Harlow as his the first day of school and he was bound to follow The Rules no matter how much he wished otherwise.
Harlow is determined to be Molly's friend no matter how much torture the bullies of Volcain Academy decided to dish out. She will not let them win.
This book is action packed from page one! This dark romance is full of triggers - violence, bullying, drug abuse, alcohol addiction, grief & PTSD. If you want a steamy hot antihero romance this is definitely the book for you. Jordan Grant gives you a book full of danger, intrigue and smoking hot chemistry.
Book one of the series was quick-paced. It left me yearning to hear more. The book is about a group of bullying students at Voclain Academy, a boarding school for the rich, who seem to be playing a game with a lot of rules and life consequences. The book begins with some of the rules and explains who is to blame or whom they shun the existence of, but it does not explain why the game and regulations are in place. That information is revealed throughout the book in pieces.
The students playing the ridiculous game are Ian, Everett, Archie, Chase, Finn, Aurora, and her band of minions. Molly is the girl being shunned. Harlow is Molly’s new roommate.
Once the rules have been gone over, it hones in on the new girl. The new girl at the school is Harlow Weathersby. She is beautiful, intelligent, grieving, has a smartass mouth, and knows nothing about the game or the rules and the fact that there are sides to this game. Ian, King of Voclain falls for Harlow hard and instantly as he sees her walking from across the field with Molly. He stakes his claim on her the moment he sees her.
While the book has a lot to do with the group of students who have made up this game and the shunned student, it also focuses a lot on Harlow and Ian and how Ian tries to win over Harlow. Just when you think all the drama has ended between the enemies to lovers, Ian does something to mess it up all over again. The book ends with a surprise ending from the students and with Aroura, Voclain’s resident “witch” stating a warning.
"Beautifully Wicked is a captivating debut that immediately immerses you in its dark and intriguing world. Voclain Academy, a prestigious boarding school for the elite, is ruled by a secret society with a chilling set of rules and a history shrouded in mystery. The narrative masterfully builds suspense, gradually revealing the origins of this enigmatic game and the tragic events that led to its creation.
Harlow Weathersby, the spirited new girl, is thrown into this viper's nest, immediately capturing the attention of Ian Beckett, the school's enigmatic and undeniably alluring king. Their forbidden attraction ignites a slow-burn romance fraught with tension and simmering desire. Ian, initially a brooding and arrogant figure, gradually reveals his vulnerabilities, compelling Harlow to see beyond his facade.
While the slow unraveling of the past is captivating, the true strength of this novel lies in the intense and captivating chemistry between Harlow and Ian. Their witty banter, simmering sexual tension, and the gradual erosion of their defenses create a truly addictive reading experience.
However, the book is not without its flaws. The pacing occasionally feels uneven, and the resolution of the central mystery, while satisfying, could have been more impactful.
Despite these minor shortcomings, Beautifully Wicked is a promising start to a series. It's a captivating blend of dark academia, forbidden romance, and suspenseful intrigue that will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next installment."
I actually enjoyed this and maybe would have rated it higher but I read another similar book at the same time and felt like I connected to the characters more in the other one. This could be my bad.
Anyway.
I liked Ian and Harlow as characters. They were both way damaged but seemed to work well together. Harlow is this fragile but strong girl who befriends the most hated girl on campus. Ian is the bad boy bully who is actually nicer than we think.
My main issue was that the characters spent way too much time being super poetic about everything in their own heads. I was waiting for action but they spend ages thinking about things instead of doing things. I thought that the idea was pretty interesting- basically bullying the shit out of Molly once a day and otherwise ignoring her, for some reason that we really don't know. And poor Harlow decided to be friends with her so she has to get it too. But it really didn't seem like most of the popular crowd was all that mean. Just like 2 of them.
We also seemed to drop the plot a bit. Like as soon as Harlow and Ian were 'together' they just never really mentioned anything that had happened before?
Also, I went to school with a fair amount of high school bullies and these kids were kind of really terrible. Like no one acts like this. But I can suspend my disbelief in order to be more immersed in the story so that is fine.
Lastly, I felt like the big reveal came at weird times. I wanted to know what happened to her brother pretty early on. I felt like it took too long to get to that point because it wasn't really a secret. The whole reason everyone hated molly took WAY TOO LONG to get to. It was like after the 90% of the book. I had already guessed part of it so I was annoyed by the time we got there.
I am slightly intrigued by some of this. What is going on with Molly and Barley (also what kind of name is Barley)? Can we get this story please? Can we get a story about Archie? He was probably one of my favorites.
Also, the next book is Aurora's story and... I'm honestly pretty unsure about this choice. SO I am unsure if I will read her story but I will keep an eye on the series.
Thank you to BookSirens for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
So this was a new author to me and after reading the blurb, I was sold. From the minute I opened this book, I was hooked. The story just pulled me in and wouldn't let me go. I gotta say I wasn't a huge fan of Ian at first. I get that there was rules and he had a reputation to uphold. I also knew deep down he was the giant jerk he was pretending to be. I knew there was a heart behind him. I applaud Harlow so much in this. She remained loyal to the outcast/her roommate. She didn't let the rich kids get her down. She held her own against them and gave them attitude right back to them. She was a gem! I will say my only beef would be waiting so long to see why the rules were in place and what really happened that day that Molly got blamed for everything and became a outcast. I loved how Harlow didn't just fall at Ian's fee. She made me him work for it. She knew he liked her but still flirted with others and remained herself until she finally broke for him. There's a lot of sexy times in this book and while some of it was just a quick kiss, it made for some good drama and angst in this book!! I must say I'm not crazy about reading the next one since I know it's about Aurora, I was hoping for Archie or any other character other then her. She wasn't nice at all. Something tells me I'm gonna eat these words when I read it though.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Before I begin my review for Beautifully Wicked (Voclain Academy book one) by Jordan Grant, I would personally like to thank the author, publishers and Booksirens for the opportunity to read this ARC and I have reviewed it honestly.
Ian Beckett is wickedly beautiful. He's mean. He's rich. He's popular. His dirty words are delicious. He's irresistible.
Harlow Weathersby is an angel. She's innocent. She's beautiful. She's got a smart mouth that he craves to taste. But she doesn't know the rules.
Welcome to Voclain Academy. Follow the rules or accept your fate.
Beautifully Wicked features, but is not limited to, the following themes: ○ High School Bully Romance ○ New adult ○ Enemies to lovers ○ Slow burn ○ Bullying ○ Steamy ○ Drug use/overdose
My overall rating for Beautifully Wicked is…
4 Stars!
If you're new to bully romance, this is a great one to start with. The bullying is quite light compared to the majority in this genre. The characters were the perfect unlikely duo! Harlow was incredibly relatable and utterly adorable and Ian was page-candy, too delicious to resist. I achedddd with the slow-burn romance that Grant has woven into an intense world of rich kids, high school dramas and secrets. One thing that frustrated me a lot during the tale was the amount of metaphors used. It was cringeworthy and needs a look at. Otherwise, an enticing series starter to a light but steamy bully romance.
Okay so I love bully romance and enemy to lover romance so I had to read this based on the blurb. Unfortunately it just didn't hit the spot. In principal it had all the components to be brilliant, it was written well and overall I liked the plot and twists/secrets that were built into the story. To some extent I even liked the main characters, especially Archie! I think this failed for me because I felt the MMC fell in love too easily, it was sickly and over the top how he craved her, this is a high school/college age so it came across a little unbelievable, especially given their relationship was not built up at all, he literally wanted her and fell in love on sight! I also had an issue with the MFC, how could she befriend Molly so quickly, they had no back story or friendship, yet she was loyal to a fault, even crying and getting distressed trying to protect her from the bullies, even going as far as pushing Ian away and denying her own feelings....for some one she has just met?? It just didn't feel right to me, I wish the author had built their friendship up a bit more at the beginning. Don't get me wrong to some extent I enjoyed it as I was able to finish it but it just wasn't for me....sorry!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
3.5 stars - can’t go 4 yet. There were quite a few things I liked about this book - the authors writing style was easy to read, kept my interest, and it flowed well. The main characters were developed pretty well. I loved the MFC sass and one-liners and the MMC was okay - he fell a little fast for my taste but he had some great dialogue. The bully storyline was pretty mild in my opinion - mean but not over the top unforgivable.
My main issue with this entire story was the, ahem, “skill” level of the male lead. I mean he’s supposed to be a brilliantly insane rich teenage male, the King of HIGH SCHOOL, and all around jock kind of guy. But yet he is a complete lothario and sexually skilled powerhouse at age I’m 17? Sorry but I don’t care how much “experience” he has by that age - he’s still 16/17 years old. No way he is that good - men still are bumbling oafs at that age no matter what. I felt more like he should’ve been at least middle-20’s or so and that didn’t play for me. And don’t get me started on the MFC basically being a virgin before him but yet she can totally handle him after one night? SMH.
The book was okay - i read it pretty fast and enjoyed it as I had to overlook some of the exceptional skill of a privileged, rich, teenage playboy. I’ll try the next one and let you know!
Thanks to Booksirens and the author for a free ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Beautifully Wicked is the first dark high school bully installment in the Voclain Academy series. It's high school with lots of drama, lies, bullying, sex and football. There is lots of editorial errors, a contract that is called The Rules that 10 Kings & Queens live by throughout but it's not entirely understood and the ending is rushed with a cliffhanger. My rating is 3.5 stars but I don't think I will read 3 more books of high school drama to finish this couples story.
TW: drinking, drugs, overdose death, death of a sibling, overdose, bullying, blackmail, violence, death of a friend, anxiety disorder, etc.
Ian Beckett is King of Voclain Academy and is the star Quarterback. He's been bored lately with everything except football but when he spots a blonde beauty crossing campus he decides she will be long to him.
Harlow Weathersby grandparents won the lottery and have sent her to Voclain Academy. She befriends her roommate but because of that she becomes the target of the Kings & Queens.
Ian knows the rules but sets out to convince Harlow to switch sides and date him when he's not doling out cruelty under the watchful eyes of the Queens minions.
Harlow may be anxiety ridden but her mouth is her tool and she knows how to use it. She gives in and lets the King talk her into forever but the Queen isn't about to forget and unas a plan to bring them down.
I think this book was a good start to this series. The author totally had the angst and drama going in this book. You have a sorta enemies/bully to lovers feel in this book. I like that both characters had their own issues they struggled with and saw they both had broken parts but they seem to heal one another. This book deals with a mystery of what happened in the past to both characters. We know Harlow lost her twin brother but have no idea how and we know Ian is a bully to a girl named Molly and we have no idea why till almost the end of this story. This book deals with anxiety and drug addiction with some bullying issues so if you have triggers to those issues you may want to rethink this book. Although this story is drawn out with sexual tension between Ian and Harlow it makes them a little bit more relatable and helps the story line. Overall I thought this was a good angsty book and would recommend it to anyone who likes a drama filled book with angst and sexual tension of crazy portions. I was given a ARC for my honest opinion and I enjoyed this book and can't wait to see more from this author.
Beautifully Wicked isnt like any other school bully romances ive read. Yes it kicks off with Harlow (FMC) starting at a new school full of rich and over-privileged kids. Ian being one of the elite there and finding that they have their own set of rules. Her roommate Molly seems to be at the center of a targeted bullying campaign. Except Harlow refuses to fall into step with the whole school and follow the so called rules. That puts her in Ian's sight to be bullied too. It starts a game of wills between Harlow and Ian. I loved Harlow. Shes witty, sarcastic and funny. It was great how she used that wit as a put down throughout this book. I actually laughed at some of that. Its sad in some parts especially with Harlow's backstory and with what Molly went through too. I really enjoyed reading Ian and Harlow's book (i know this is only the start of their story) and i cant wait to read more about them. This is a great book and read
Will we read more about Molly in future books? I really hope so
Ian is the King and what he says goes. He doesn’t let anyone in. He doesn’t do girlfriends and he never apologizes for who he is. He doesn’t care what others think because he is freakin royalty. That is until the beautiful angel walks into his academy and destroys ever rule he’s ever made for himself and the rules he agreed to with a group of his friends when they were just kids. This can’t happen he own her before she can destroy him. Only problem with his plan...because of the rules and the “thing” she refuses to give into his advances and the game he’s trying to play. Watching Ian attempt to break down Harlow in all the most beautifully wicked ways is both heartbreaking and intriguing. But who can blame Harlow for wanting to give in to her wanton desires of the egotistical yet sexually alluring jerk that has high jacked her dreams awake and asleep. I received a free advanced copy of beautifully Wicked and I was enthralled from chapter 1 to the end...now I NEED book 2 ASAP. My guess is if you miss out you will be missing out on a wonderfully broken yet beautifully wicked story.
This is the first book I have read from Jordan Grant and this was a pretty good book. I love that we get both mc's point of view. There is some bullying and I feel like there are several stories going on but it coincides with the main story. There is a lot of back and forth with some feelings with Harlow. That I was not crazy about but I understood given some past events. Ian who is the king of the school was borderline alpha and a bit crazy. But with some good intentions. Even though Harlow is going through a lot of turmoil she still has a since of loyalty to her friends. With every thing that Ian does to Harlow and her friend Molly he realizes almost too late that the rules should not be in place. Yeah the rules are not cool but you don't find out why they have rules til you get closer to the end. It is a slow build but the ending was woah and a tear jerker. However, we do have a happy ending.
This is the first book I have read by Jordan grant. Beautifully Wicked tells the story of Ian and Harlow. Harlow starts at a new school full of rich kids. On her first day Harlow catches the eye of Ian. Ian is part of a group who have a set of rules everyone must follow. Part of these rules has Molly being bullied by the group and as Harlow refuses to do this, it puts a target on her back. She then becomes bullied too. This is the start of a game between Harlow and Ian.
I did struggle to get into this book at first, I think it was the writing style but once I got into it I couldn't put it down. I loved Harlow and how she doesn't back down from sticking up for what she believes in even if it puts her in the firing line. I loved how she is sarcastic and funny and uses her sarcasm in the book to put down the guys.
I did enjoy this story and can't wait to see what comes next.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
I started and finished this book yesterday. I wanted to give some thought before I wrote this review.
Here's the thing. This book surprised me in the best of ways. First let me point out the things most readers want to know. It is a bully romance, but not full out mean bullying. There is some spice, but it shows up late in the story. There's a broken girl and her best friend. There's a king of the school and his best friends more like brothers, too. There is a mystery surrounding an unspoken tragedy. Lastly, there is a mean girl who wants to be Queen Bee.
Secondly, I fell in love with this book, because Jordan has written a story filled with poetry and prose that took me where no other book has ever taken me before to a romance filled with words you wish someone would say to you. The descriptions of how Ian and Harlow feel about each other are beautifully written.
I cannot wait to read Ian and Harlow's next chapter.
I physically cringed many times while reading this.
The writing is so dramatic that it makes it nearly unbearable to read... especially because when the MCs say these terribly cringing things, they're being serious.
They say things like:
"“I want to fuck you like you’re the last meal before my execution,” I breathe." And,
"“Don’t you get it?” I shout, my voice cracking at the end. “You are ripping me apart! When you came into my life, you tore me open, Harlow.” I point to the dead center of my chest, stabbing myself there repeatedly. “I’m still fucking bleeding over here.”"
^ Keep in mind, they have NOT known each other long at all. They do not know each other in any meaningful way. Especially not in any way to be acting like Romeo and Juliet.
In conclusion, the author is too dramatic for my taste, dramatic to the point of being extremely cringey. I made it to about 27%.
