It has been fifteen years since Richard Martell was a ball boy at junior Wimbledon for the match where Filotije Ilic went down to Javier Navarro in straight sets. It has been fifteen years since Richard, his cousin also named Richard, and their friend Anwar tricked their way into the changing rooms and offered to take Filotije’s mind off the loss. A reckless jaunt into London turned the four into fast friends, a bond tight enough to last through all the ups and downs of Filotije’s journey to the top tier of the tennis world. Richard lost something of his own that night, even if he didn’t realise it until later. The friendship they’d formed was worth more than a little heartache. Richard figures, friendship or not, twelve years is long enough to wait for Filotije to wake up to the truth.
Brooke Edwards is an Australian LGBTQ+ author and dreamer, slowly working her way through the stories that keep demanding (loudly) to be told. She's hopelessly obsessed with procedural law enforcement shows, flawed human beings and coffee - not necessarily in that order.
A hybrid author, Brooke's first books were released through Dreamspinner Press in 2015 and 2016, followed by self-published ventures in 2017 and onwards.
