We do not meditate for something to happen, but to notice what is already happening. Exploring The Now is a book intending to facilitate readers experientially getting that this moment is all there is, and sharing clearly how to practice four core techniques to explore the concentration, mindfulness, allowing, and contemplation.
Upon reading this book, I realized we all spend most of our lives either worrying about the future or dwelling on the past instead of focusing on the present moment (which is the only reality). Our mind creates stories we go on to assume are true. Garibay implores the reader to become aware of these thoughts and notice them as scenarios created by the mind instead of the present experience.
By exploring the now through the practices mentioned in the book, I noticed any form of negativity I may have actually reflects a resistance to the present moment. A refusal to accept the here and the now when in fact there is nothing really missing in the present moment. Rather, that it is all there is.
