Volume 20 is mostly an intermezzo between two arcs. It rushes through some aspects of Rudeus' family life while setting up things for the next arc near the end. The cliff hanger ending is a bit of a disservice as well, although we at least get the next volume soon. It was an okay read, but nothing special.
Another intermezzo book. After the fight in Shirone we get more glimpses of tue life Rudeus has built, we see him have a few moments of peace while the family is growing and his friends keep graduating. It’s a nice quiet book, and looks like things will pick up again for the next one.
this book is the defintion of a nothing burger. I think by this point I find that I dont give a shit about most of the conflicts happening. I feel like they dont build into anything meeningfull and this book especially just felt like filler. I mean setting up a mercenary companies so important that he litterally sets up everything off screen, but the main focus of this book is getting the rights to set one up. Boring as fuck. My faviorte part was nina's chapter just like in whatever book she showed up in the school arc. I wish there were more chapters that show cased rudeus from outside of his persepective. Other than that I struggle to find anything worth talking about. It wasn't straight up bad it was just boring.

WN - 3.5 on first read. This novel was a little bit of a resting spot between major arcs. There was some good build up for what seems to be just across the horizon, lots of interesting subplots building in the background for a, hopefully, masteful conclusion. While the previous arc focused on Zenoba and his family, this one seems to be following Cliff and his priestly family. I enjoy the slice of life mushoku novels like this, but the previous arc was so impressive that this felt a little too intermediate I guess. The inclusion of Zeniths mom was a cool expansion of the Rudeus family. Can't wait to see what comes next.

A pretty good volume but some of the translation choices made me cringe. What’s up with referring to the Blessed Child as an “e-girl” surrounded by “simps”? Given the earlier fan backlash against the localisation of this title, you’d think Seven Seas would handle the translation with a bit more care.
Aaaargh that French pastry crone. I guess with insufferable characters such as that one, the more we hate them, the better they are. Seeing auntie again refreshed my memory of their first meeting back in volume 5, so heartwarming. And sheeesh, what a setup ending also calling back to first meeting Aisha in Shirone! I'm looking forward to smacking that monkey-faced newbie. SIC'EM!

Nice, slow, slice of life type of novel. It was enjoyable but lacked a bit of action (or romance) for my taste. Hated the grandma thou. Had my blood boiling so I will say I was succesfully rage-baited this time. Props for that
The story progressing slowly. It's just the rating for the English version coming out rather quickly after 2 months from volume 19. Still in the preparation of War, and the story barely moving.
Time for some graduations and future plans. Rudeus makes a trip to Millishion and this one unfortunately ends on a cliffhanger. Good overall but lots of typos and sloppy editing.
Not much happened to further the story in this novel but it set up for a nice setting in the next one. Also, I felt this novel had more spelling and grammar errors than previous books in this series. Did they hire a new translator or something?
Another slice of life volume though it started off very boring, it gets better in the last third of the book and sets up the story for the next arc. A quick read and kind of a filler volume but better than vol 18.
I loved it. Rudy is growing so much along with his family. I loved how much he loves his family to the point he would pick a fight with his grandmother. There are several new characters in this volume that are important. Can't wait to see how they will help or hinder rudy.

Not much happened at all, really. Somewhat a filler volume for something more grand. The finale is close, so I expect things to pick up in the next volume.
