The Farshore Chronicles #4

Vaults Of The Undergloom

Rate this book
Lost in a world of darkness and danger, my only hope is to start fighting back...

I'll admit that allowing three months of boredom to spur me into robbing one of Farshore's most powerful citizens wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done. Paying off that mistake placed my fate in the hands of Farshore's legion commander, and it turned out that he had the perfect mission lined up for an expendable nuisance like me.

Investigating a disappearance at Farshore's most lucrative mine should have been a simple task. But when a deadly ambush forced us to flee into the twisting tunnels of the Undergloom I quickly learned that nothing is simple when you're trapped underground with all manner of slithering horrors.

Then bad turned to worse, as it tends to do, and now I'm enslaved in a dark elf prison camp as my soul is torn apart by the sudden loss of the magic I'd just learned to wield, dragging me closer to death by the hour.

If I can't find some way to save myself, save my friends, and save the world the Undergloom will claim me as its next victim, then turn its hungry eyes to the world above...

Wow. This is one story that has you hooked. Going into the Undergloom is not the best places to be. It’s definitely a dangerous place that you want to leave if you can. Don’t miss out reading.

So much fun!

Yet again another amazing, fun, and dangerous adventure with Charity and her friends. The Undergloom is definitely a place you don’t want to go but when you don’t have a choice, away you must go.

I loved the characters that we meet along the way in this story. The comedy is still very present even in the face of danger and I think the author does a great job balancing all the emotions presented in this book. Can’t wait for more Charity and to see where her next adventure takes her and what trouble she ends up in!

Charity finds herself obliged to investigate the disappearance of a group of miners and finds more than she has bargained for when she and her companions are captured by Dark Elves and put to work deep underground. Her soul-bond with the Elvish Queen isn't helping matters either, and she soon realises that the Mad King is back on the scene, trying to take over the world!

As always, an enjoyable, fast-paced adventure. This one I didn’t like as much as the previous books, probably because it didn’t show the other characters in the gang as much. Still wishing for their relationship dynamics and backstories to come more into the light! All that said, I was one happy camper seeing Cael and Charity to have some page time together…

Vaults of the Undergloom

The fourth book of the Farshore Chronicles is a continuation of the tales of Charity. I missed her friends in this chapter but it is still a good book.

OMG

Wow. I just picked up The Farshore Chronicles for a light read and found myself fully engrossed in the Farshore world. I love Charity and Sheska as well as the rest of their rogue friends. Their world is fully imagined and formed with all the adventure, magic, treachery and humor you could ask for; a real page turner. I couldn't put it down. Now I'm waiting for the rest of the story... on pins and needles.

I received a free copy of this book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

More fun from Mr. Fike’s Farshore series. I love these books. They have humor, danger, heroism, stupidity and quiet love. A semi-hero who gets herself into more trouble than a squad of monkeys in a tiny house. But you can’t keep yourself from caring for her.

This time she and her small troop of friends are sent on a mission to discover why the mines that supply Farshore with its wealth have stopped transporting the wagons home. They are taxed with going into the mines, if necessary, to discover what’s wrong. And head into the mines they must. None of them at all happy with that necessity. As they make their way down into the depths of darkness they are attacked by beasts that were supposed to be tales to frighten children. And frightening they are. They are forced to go deeper and deeper into the mines in an attempt to escape the horrors chasing them. However, they are rescued by elves that are almost as bad. The elves enslave them as miners.

To what end? If you love the Farshore books, this is excellent. I would recommend this to any and all fantasy lovers. Grab the series and get started on an epic adventure. You will be very glad you did. This is a series well worth the effort, which is actually no effort at all, just fun!

This was another amazing addition to the Farshore series. I continue to love Charity and her inability to keep out of trouble. The way she is drawn into the Undergloom was well done and perfectly in character. I truly enjoyed the newest scrap her and the rest of the gang found themselves in as they are pressed into service and must once again save Farshore. Charity for being a self-described loner really manages to attract a good group of people who are willing to follow her into incredible danger. I am loving the soul bond with Sapphery and how even though they have learned to live with each other there is still a downside. The cliffhanger was just how I like them with the immediate problem being solved but there being just enough loose ends to keep you interested in the next book. I am greatly looking forward to the fifth book in this awesome series! :D

This 4th installation of Mr. Fike's Farshore Chronicles is fast paced and full of action. Charity is enlisted/blackmailed yet again to do the bidding of the coty's leadership. This time the trip goes into the undergloom of the city where jagged teeth monsters live and more devious elves rule, or at least they think they do.

As usual, one of my favorite aspects of Mr. Fike's writing is the humor and wit that is tastfully integrated into the story, especially with Charity. The very beginning's talk of boredom is a great example. She definitely acts like the kind of person I would get along with just fine.

The plot this time is simple and easy to follow and reminds me of the 3rd book in that way, but with a cliff hanger ending like the 2nd one. I am definitely looking forward to what will become of Charity and the ominous circumstance she is left with going into the next installment

This fourth installment of the Farshore Chronicles was the most realistically believable one yet. I loved that our heroes were getting stir crazy after not being in mortal peril for a while. Poor Charity was so bored she fell back to her B and E days and got suckered into doing a job for the newly appointed Knight-Captain Alexios because of it. This prompts her to reunite the band and land them all in more trouble. We meet some new characters along the way as well as some old ones returning. All in all, an interesting tale and I can’t wait for next installment. Justin Fike was kind enough to gift me an Arc of this book in return for my unbiased review.

This series just keeps getting better and better. The characters progress and the world keeps expanding. The stories are a bit short but tie together well. That just makes for a fun read. Lots of non stop action. Seems like this story just keeps ramping up never really slowing down then you are at the end.
All in all this was a solid 4 star read. Wish it was a bit longer but enjoyable nevertheless.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Fun book and the fourth in the series about Charity's adventures in a land of magic. She just had to break up her boring life and ended up in an underworld of trouble. Fike spins a great world of magic and monsters, at least for the reader, not so good for Charity and her friends. Can't wait to see what she gets up to next.
I received this book as an ARC and wished to leave a review.

Boredom can lead to poor choices but a good story.
Charity has become bored after the last adventure. This leads to a mistake in actions which lead her and her friends an a mission underground in which she almost looses her life. Quite an interesting end to the series.
Received the book free for an honest review.

Charity’s next awesome adventure!

New characters and frightening things lurk in the Undergloom. Charity battles for her own life and the safety of the whole world is at stake. Another awesome, fast paced adventure that drew me in and dragged me along. Looking forward to the next book in the Farshore Chronicles!

A non stop read of Charity and her friends. Never complain of being bored as next you could be fighting for your life. No one knew the Undergloom could be so dangerous. We meet new friends that were thought to never exist. I love this series!
