I know a priceless object when I see it. Always have. It’s a gift, or perhaps a curse. The moment I get a glimpse of Laura, I get the same feeling as when I see a stolen work of art from a master. It’s real. Authentic. And it makes everything inside me hunger to possess her. But Laura can’t be bought, and she’s turned me down every time I’ve approached her for nothing more than a date. Giving up isn’t an option, not when I’ve found a woman so rare, so I call in all of her brother’s loans. She’ll offer herself to save him, and I’m just the sort of man to take advantage. And I do. I take it all. But I also want to give her something I’ve never offered to anyone else. When she finds out who I really am, will she accept my heart or leave me empty-handed?
MINK's note: Keep a fluffy kitty standing by for love and cuddles while reading this sweet and stalkery tale of happily ever afters.
Xavier is a alpha and alittle manipulated type of hero. At first he has tried to be nice lol and ask Laura out but girl is always busy and focused on her job. So its always a no and another reason why she says no is because she's a clinger and didn't wanna be that. But our guy doesn't give up now he takes it alittle extreme he makes sure his bookies have her brother go in debt and that's his way in since everyone works for him. Deal has been made Laura shall go with him so her brother doesn't die. 😂😂 like dang man. The relationship is tense since shes confused, turned on and doesn't know the full story so the more time they spend the more she falls in love.
But that bites both in the butt when she finds out the truth and is being kidnapped again by someone else. Xavier doesn't let anyone take what's his or hurt his girl some blood is spilled and questions are finally answered. If your looking for a OTT alpha Xavier is your man lol. Also yes there is a cat 😂😂😂

Yes I still have standards when it comes to silly smutovellas, ok? This H is just too villainous and calculating and bullying without the elements I need to make me give him a chance to woo me—I mean the heroine. Woo the heroine. 😅 The way he manipulated the h and her brother gave me the ick. Also felt no connection between the MCs. Boi, bye.
This was an all right book. I like this author's work best when the characters are ruthless and cutthroat. In this one I really didn't see any chemistry between the two main characters. They fell in love but I didn't really see the how or why of it. 3 stars
Xavier knew Laura was priceless since he first laid his eyes on her. But each time he asked her out, she refused to go out with him. After getting tired of her refusals, he staged a whole lot of drama to capture her. The started to spend time together. Fell in love. Some tiny violence. HEA.
First of all, this book was a tad bit boring. Xavier spent a lot of time avoiding Laura and she spent a lot of time yearning for his attention. I get that he was trying to give her space but what's the point of going through all those length if you're gonna leave her alone, huh? I soon became bored with all those push & pull from them. Anyway, I just didn't feel the connection or chemistry between them unless they were physical with each other. Some of the things were so out of the blue that it just didn't add up with the plot smoothly. The author tried so hard to adjust the secondary characters according to the plot that they ended up being just bland and meh. At least that's what I felt.
Hence I ended up not liking this one. This book was a total miss for me.
Xavier will do anything to claim Laura. Xavier is tired of her refusals and takes matters into his own hands. Laura has a hard time believing Xavier really wants her for her. Lots of action and great family dynamics. I would like to see Scott get his own story.
Xavier has been watching Laura trying to get her to agree to go out. Laura always has an excuse, she is working and Xavier is losing patience. Xavier decides that he is going to go a different way to get Laura by his side, he pulls her brothers markers and keeps Laura as collateral. Now that Laura is in his home he comes up with a plan to get her in his bed, where she will be from that day forward.
This was a pleasant surprise, I was not sure on how the story would go but it exceeded my expectations. Laura is a fighter, I felt for her when she finds herself in the tangled web that Xavier crafted. Highly entertaining.
There’s nothing I don’t love about MINK. They put the A in alpha romance flawlessly, the stories are quick reads but what they pack into those pages is awesome.
Laura is our leading lady, she’s been trying to avoid Xavier or that’s what she tells herself. The man is beautiful and every time he sees her he asks her out. She of course says no. Why? Because she doesn’t understand why someone like him would want her. She’s not special, she’s no one. Her own mother didn’t like her. All she has is her brother Scott. What she doesn’t see is that she is priceless. Xavier saw that the moment he saw her on the casino floor.
Xavier owns Vegas, he runs it ruthlessly. Men fear him women want him. When he spots Laura he knows she’s his. This beautiful woman will be his. If he has to use her brother as leverage he will.
It’s a full blown kidnapping from here. It’s hilarious at times and I loved the Harry Potter references. I totally get her obsession with Harry Potter!
Mink really does romance well. It’s a definite YES from me.
I loved the way they were obsessed with each other. Except with Laura was afraid that it was something to be ashamed of where as Xavier just went with it. If he saw it and wanted it he took it no matter the consequences.
I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it, and it’s definitely not okay.
1.5 replace-the-female-lead-please stars. She’s too... typical. Everything she does is predictable. She’s in no way unique. Her reactions are not special; I’ve seen it a thousand times before. It’s not fun anymore.
And Mr Xavier Vincent... meh. We can replace him too. He’s... not my type. On paper, sure, he’s my type. But when you actually experience it... nope. Kinda like sports teams. Like on paper, they should be succeeding and dominating the league... but then when they play, it’s just disappointing.
Plot: Xavier has been after Laura for a while now, but she keeps turning him down. He manipulates her into accepting him though by calling in her brother's debts. Now she'll have to pay attention to him; convincing her that he loves her because she's someone special is a whole other task.
Commentary: This one wasn't heavy on the stalker bit although he did wait a while until finally giving in and taking her. And then he had to rescue her again when her nitwit brother came to "save" her. There was a cat. There was Harry Potter. It was fun, but not the best Mink I've ever read. For me, the issue was that I didn't necessarily feel the strong connection between the main couple that I usually do (comparatively) and also because I felt like there were some loose ends. But it was still an enjoyable read.
Style: Mob Like Romance Story: 4/5 Sexual: GOOD Enjoyment: 4/5 Male: Boss, Possessive, Sexy and Alpha Series:
This was my first Mink book and I actually liked it. Xavier, I see you, and I like it. He was vicious towards his enemies but such a softy when it came to Laura. I mean he has to kill a few people here and there but his connection to Laura and the way he has it for her, it is like his Kryptonite. Even though this was a 141-page book, I got a little of everything.
Overall, was it bad, no. Was it the most amazing story, no. However, it definitely gave me tingles with the way Xavier’s character wanted Laura so bad, it was an engaging quick read.
***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s definitely about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the stories you read. I hope this review was helpful.
for ones who want a persistent sugar daddy....go ahead, this one's for you but I quitted early cuz the way he was trying to have a relationship with her felt weak...
I mean he asks her to go out with him, she's shy or nervous so leaves without answering and then he plots (given in blurb)...then what? she screams for him to let go, he says no "you're mine, blah blah blah".....she opens the car door and runs..he chases...
Xavier sees Laura in the casino one day and ask her out. Unfortunately she turns him down. That doesn’t make him falter, he just keeps trying. She becomes is obsession and he’s determined to make her his, no matter what he has to do.
-safe read -h virgin -no talk about H past -no om/ow drama -epilogue months out.
Loan Shark's Obsession is the story of Laura and Xavier. Xavier has noticed Laura who is an assistant to one of the dancers at the casino. But, each time Xavier approaches Laura asking her out she turns him down. But Xavier isn't one to take a no for long before he takes action...specially on something so precious. Quick hot alpha read.
This book was so good. I really enjoyed it. It's full of instalove on Xaviers part, trepidation on Laura's part. There is plenty of action in this book.
HERO - Xavier Vincent. Vegas loan shark / mob boss(?). Dark hair and eyes.
HEROINE - Laura. Assistant to a Vegas burlesque dancer. Big eyes, freckled skin, and shiny hair.
OVERALL THOUGHTS - I’m hot and cold about this one. It’s another mob boss story, but the Brotherhood is mentioned in passing. I found parts confusing - characters would just show up out of nowhere with no explanation of how they got there. Or when Laura supposedly looked all over the house for a weapon to defend herself with but apparently never thought to check in the kitchen where there’s, you know, knives.
Xavier’s been watching Laura for months, apparently, but only started asking Laura out in the past couple of weeks, with no success. Naturally, kidnapping is the next step. The way Laura gets kidnapped is really stupid, though. After noticing a strange man has followed her from the store to her apartment, she still answers the door without checking who’s on the other side.
I loved all the Harry Potter references, being a Potterhead myself (Ravenclaw, thanks for asking). There were some humorous moments, too, thanks to Laura’s POV. The Signature Cat is here, too. This time it’s a caracal! Think an oversized, buff cat named Sue.
There’s an unfortunate lack of basic character information like ages and physical descriptions. It’s revealed that there are five Russian crime families and I’m wondering if we’re going to be getting some books in that direction instead of the Italian families. Like I mentioned before, the Brotherhood was brought up in passing when .
Overall, the story had good parts and not-so-good parts. It’s not one of my favorites.
HERO /HEROINE Laura is a loving sister who is just trying to have a decent life in Vegas. She is poor as hell and working a job she hates, and life is just throwing a curveball after another in her direction. She is tired and exhausted, and feels like she isn’t special. Xavier is the Boss of Las Vegas, he controls the gambling and whatever else he dabbles in. He’s a businessman, making money is the only thing on his mind till Laura bumps into him accidentally one day and his heart skips a beat. Soon, he is obsessed with one thing, Laura.
REPRESENTATION
OVERALL THOUGHTS Mink books are always a hit. Xavier is hot as heck and deeply obsessed with Laura. Laura is not as meek as I thought she would be. She was hilarious and made the best out of her kidnapping. She was like, I'm in a mansion, with expensive clothes, beauty products, I can actually have a decent meal, all the while a hot man is trying to give me pleasure. Alright I guess I can stay for awhile. Girl, SAME.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE
FAVORITE QUOTES:“Hello, gentleman. Don’t mind me. I’m just being all kidnapped and held against my will.” I wave my hand dismissively.
SAFETY
AGE: We don’t know.
SEXUAL HISTORY: Laura is a virgin and I don’t think Xavier is but he never mentions any kind of sexual past.
CONDOMS: Nope
HEAT LEVEL: 3/5 it could have been spicier but overall it had some good spice.
PUSH/PULL: Yeah, Xavier has been asking Laura out for awhile now and she keeps turning him down. And then when he kidnaps her she is a bit iffy of him but she falls for his charms.
SEPARATION: Only for like an hour
CHEATING: no
OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: No, just some jealousy of an OW who is her boss but it is fleeting. Also, OM tries to feel her up but that’s stopped immediately.
SEX SCENE WITH OW/OM: no
ABUSE: There is physical abuse, but not at the hands of the hero
POSSIBLE PET PEEVES/TRIGGERS Violence, Manipulation
As like most of her other books this was another short story written by MINK. It has the same theme as in many of her other books with the alpha male being a good looking rich crime boss and or killer who is attracted to an innocent. This story is about Laura who works as an assistant to a burlesque dancer in a Vegas casino. Over the past few months she has bumped into a good looking man who has constantly asked her out but she has denied him at every turn. Xavier Vincent is a crime boss who runs half of Vegas. The moment he set eyes on Laura he knew she was meant to be more to him. With Laura constantly rejecting his advances he is left with no other alternative but to manipulate the situation to get her. Once he gets her into his home he will do anything keep her there. They spend time together at his house and Laura is starting to fall for him after seeing his sweet side. After watching Harry Potter together she freely gives herself to him but then when her brother comes to save her and tells her that the whole scenario had been staged from the start she feels conflicted about whether she should stay or leave. Being the only family member she has left, she leaves with her brother only to walk into more trouble with Xavier's enemies. Xavier is distraught when he finds that Laura has left but will do whatever it takes to get her back. Luckily for him he is able to save her in time before his enemies could inflict harm. Once back in the safety of his home he confesses why he did what he did and she forgives him.
Laura has a hard life, she is currently working as a gopher for a burlesque dancer who is very mean to her. On one of the dancers errands she is spotted by Xavier who is instantly obsessed with her. He runs into her everyday and asks her out, and Laura refuses everyday. Her life is a mess, she doesn’t have time to date. Her brother Scott is another problem for her. He loves to gamble and is not good with money at all. Xavier decides he’s done playing nice, he’s going to finally get Laura. He has one of his bookies kidnap Laura and has her bought to where Scott is. The bookie threatens Scott with dismemberment because he owes $20,000. Laura tries to bargain with the bookie, in comes Xavier to save the day. He has the $20,000 and defends Laura from all the goons holding her and Scott. He takes her to his house. There she is treated well and feels safe, but not sure of Xavier. He has been running hot & cold with her. He already stole her, now he wants her to give herself to him. Their sexy times are hot, and he is very sweet to her. There is drama with a guy who touches Laura and then tries to kill Xavier. Then Scott shows up to rescue her. That definitely ends badly, the Russians are waiting and cause a terrible car accident and try to kill Laura. She’s hurt pretty bad but Xavier gets her the best care.they profess their love and live happily ever after. Epilogue with Laura expecting. Hated that he called her precious all the time. It always reminds me of Sid’s Granny from Ice Age.

Loan Shark’s Obsession was pretty much what I expected. What it did give me is a bit of reprieve from the intense books I’ve read in the past weeks, it gave me some time with a book I could read and enjoy.
Laura is the assistant to the star of a burlesque revue at a Vegas casino. She isn’t treated nicely and yet she shows up each day she has to work. It’s apparent she has bills to pay and needs a roof over her head so; she works with what she has. She has her brother Scott and a car that is about to give up. Life isn’t getting better. The one thing that may put a bit of a smile on her face is the fact there is a very handsome man who keeps asking her out, of course it can’t happen, she’s to shy.
Xavier’s life is walking on the darker side of Vegas life. He owns the place where she works and he also has all the bookies in Vegas on his payroll. What he really wants though is Laura. He is enamored with her, has watched for some time now and doesn’t like the way she is treated and knows he can give her the world he thinks she deserves. The only problem is she keeps turning him down when he asks her out so how does he convince her to give him a chance.
A scheme is concocted, put into place and now all he has to do is win her over. There is however a fly in the ointment, her brother Scott. MINK has written a short story where unrequited love has convinced Xavier that he can win Laura over. With meddling brothers and other outside forces will Xavier be able to convince Laura he loves her and only wants to spoil her and give her the world?
If you’re in need of a short read, try MINK, her books give you that short sweet insta-love (lust) shot you need.
Loan Shark's Obsession is the latest pulse-pounding, wickedly hot masterpiece by Mink. There is never a dull moment, and you find yourself falling in love with the stunning main characters along the way. Their struggle for more is very real and incredibly touching. I seriously couldn't get enough of the main couple because once they were able to admit their feelings, they all but melted my kindle. Their love was a raging inferno that was only held back by sheer force of will, but once that was conquered, their unstoppable love was unleashed and all-consuming.
Mink never every fails to touch my heart in a new and breathtaking way. Her books are always there when I need a nudge and a comforting word. They help to re energize me and give me the strength to keep going. They are truly a refuge for me from this crazy world. For that reason, I hope to enjoy more Mink books for a very long time to come.
I liked this short story. It was entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. I really wanted Star to get some comeuppance but I guess I'll have to let it go. Laura's brother Scott annoyed me so much without having done anything. Or maybe that's why I didn't like him because he should have done something to help Laura out. Laura and Xavier are pretty much opposite from each other, but somehow they work. Laura was great. Xavier wanted to please her so much that he let her choose what they did. I love that even when Laura was mad at everyone she was still sweet and Xavier wanted her to be happy. Xavier and Laura's happy ever after made me smile. I recommend reading this book.
Xavier has been trying to get Laura to go out with him as soon as he saw her on the casino floor. For some reason she kept turning him down, so he tried to be patient. But when his patience runs out he uses her brother and his gambling habit to get her in his home and bed. Now he just has to get her to fall in love with him because he is never going to let her go. Laura doesn't trust in Xavier's interest in her, that is why she never agreed to a date. She quickly discovers its hard to ignore him or how he makes her feel. How can he convince her that she is his everything? No one does obsessive heroes like MINK! I love the criminal heroes and Xavier is ruthless and at the same time sweet. That contradiction is my jam. Laura is hardworking and reacts the way I would if a gorgeous guy kept asking me out. Couldn't put it down, just like with any other book this talented lady writes. Loved it!
First things first; I love the cover of this book! This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. I love all of Mink’s stories but I would definitely say that this book is my favourite so far. Xavier Vincent is a man that gets what he wants. What he wants is Laura. When she turns down his dates, he takes things into his own hands and takes her as collateral for her brother’s debts. The chemistry between Laura and Xavier is clear to see and I liked them together. I thought they were perfect for one another. I liked that Laura and Xavier was equally obsessed with one another. I was amused at the Xavier’s cat’s name. I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.
