A friend recommended the Virginia Lee books, telling me that the two women using that name were very learned professors, literature teachers…yes, but very misdirected writers. This book has a plot that is more dull than implausible, the characters, including the insufferable Aunt Louise and the murder victim, are detailed with many words but are lifeless, everyone part of a terrible troupe of two (one) dimensional puppets. There is a hurricane thrown in and I was expecting the wind to take everyone to hell but no such luck. On reading this, I think I gave too many points to the so called novel, but I’m warm-hearted.
