It should have been simple… Work together, find the cure. Save our people. Except nothing with these aliens is simple.
Especially not an alien like him: Dr. Avrell Dracarion. Rude. Arrogant. Ripped.
He treats me like a child, but he certainly doesn’t look at me like one. Beneath those filed down fangs and carefully manicured claws, there’s a beast lurking, waiting to claim me as his mate.
I won’t be claimed by anyone, least of all a jerk like him.

I gotta say, SciFi isn’t typically my thing, but I do rekking love these Morts. They are all so much fun, even when being over the top, infuriating alpha males. And the women? Well, they’ve been through a lot of crazy, and are all kinds of strong and feisty.
But as for our MC’s here. Avrell and Zoe were extremely well matched. Determined, stubborn, snarky and arrogant in their own ways. Add in huge, compassionate hearts and a protective streak a mile wide? Well, the butting of heads was inevitable . But it was was also inevitable that all that strife would lead to an intense attraction and boy did it, so while that outcome wasn’t a surprise, the catalyst kind of was and I really enjoyed watching as it all unfolded
This was a fun, quick read and I really liked where the series arc was taken in this one, though I am sad to see that next one is the final in the series, which makes me a little sniffly, but there does seem to be a situation that could possibly lead to a spinoff...maybe??? But, all in all, this was a rekking good time and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!

These two are funny with all the back and forth. Their chemistry is off the wall.
Averell has to leave for a cute as the "Kevins" arrive. As their heading to the facility it's under fire, unfortunately we have to wait for the last book to find out how it all ends.
Taken is leaving to go save Stella and Henry. I just hope with this last book the questions lingering about where Julie went and the other Mort aliens are all answered.
This is another great addition to this series. It is one of the most unique romance, Sci-fi stories around. This is not a stand alone and you do need to start with the first book. Plenty of smart banter and action. It is one of the sexiest from this series. I am looking forward to the next one.
This was a ok read. I thought this was going to be the last book in the series. We would get the ending and find out how it all ends. But nope... The conclusion to the lost planet series is The Runaway Alien. That’s the last book. So, we have to wait.
This book took me a little bit to get into. I wasn’t really feeling Zoe. Once she let Avrell in. It got better for me. I’m glad we finally get more information about the illness. So we know there is hope for them all surviving the rades.
Cant wait to find out the ending!! I need the last book!! Until then... On to the next book.
The 8th alpha alien in this series is here. This might be a novella but believe me you get all that you want and more! Trying to stop the Rades virus and the impending Kevin Attack, Dr. Avrell Dracarion will do whatever it takes to save the Morts and Humans. Keeping out of Zoe’s way...now that’s another issue. This Mort and human do not get along...but sometimes enemies make perfect mates! Get ready for more mates, Morts and Kevins of course. Told in dual POV
A sweet and delicious story with humans and aliens oh my! This couple is an unlikely pair but they clash and click at the same time. This story was rekking wonderful!
Action packed, witty, fun, sexy and engaging adventure filled with exciting charters, interesting dialog, heart racing twists and thrilling passion. Was a great read from beginning to end.
I didn’t really like either of them in the beginning, but I grew to love them eventually when she stopped being an asshole lmao. Can’t wait for the next one!
Book 8 and I’m still loving these Morts! The Arrogant Genius gives us Avrell’s live story and boy did he meet his match with hot headed Zoe! She refuses to take orders and Avrell hates her smart mouth! I loved Zoe’s sass!
I have been one to really read sci-fi but The Lost Planet Series is definitely worth reading even if you don’t really like sci-fi! All of the characters are full of personality and the storylines will grab your attention. These short books are perfect for quick read!
This was my 1st alien read, and because of this series I have been obsessed!
I love this series so much. It’s super fun and enjoyable full of everything a good book requires! I love these guys and truly hope if I ever get taken by aliens I somehow end up with one of them!
I can’t for more, I truly hope it never ends, it’s that good!
Heh. Avrell and Zoe have had a sort of...let's say they've had an adversarial relationship since Avrell first stepped into the prison. He's focused and expects to be obeyed since he's the resident genius and she's willing to work with him as his equal, not as his lackey. The thing is, I totally get where both of them are coming from. Avrell has seen the devastation the Rades can cause and he's determined to keep what few survivors they have left from succumbing to it. On Zoe's end, she's endured the worst the universe could throw at her and survived and Avrell's arrogance and not-so-great bedside manner grate on her in a big way.
But she's also willing to do pretty much anything to keep the survivors alive.
Which make her and Avrell a perfect match in that regard. You know, if they can get past the sniping and verbal skirmishes that erupt whenever they're in the room together. And when they finally do give in...BOOM! Things happen!
Beyond their quest for a cure, bad guys are on their way to cause some wide-scale destruction (which we really don't get to see since a lot of it happens off-page to the others) and the survivors (and families) of the original group are dealing with things on that end. There's only one Mort left who hasn't been paired up and...*excited eyes*...possibly a chance for some more adventures on this gloriously broken world. (For the record, I would be down with that in a BIG way.)
Foreplay verbal warfare, actual warfare, excellent news on the search for a cure, and potential for the future. I am SO in. *thumbs up*
The don't know if I can express the right way I feel about this book. First of all I absolutely love Avrell and Zoe. They are so perfectly matched. I always thought Avrell was an interesting character. He was so clinical yet kind at the same time. I love that he finally got his chance at finding a mate. I like Zoe but I really haven't thought much about her. When I figured out the these two would be mated I was thrilled. However it wasn't until halfway through this book that I absolutely loved Zoe. One of my biggest peeves in a book is when the innocent girl asks if "it" will fit because "it's" SO big. In this book Avrell is the one who isn't sure (granted almost all of these morts start out virgins). But Zoe won me over with her comment....
"You'll fit. A woman was created to push a baby out. Your d***'s not that big,"....
Thank you, thank you!! I have been waiting to hear a character says that for years!! That was the moment I knew I wouldn't be able to get enough of these two. They officially have become my favorite. Oh and I can't forget Kevin. I love how Avrell didn't think anything about taking him under his wing. That mort will be a great father.
Now that almost all of the morts are mated I want to know what is going to happen with the Kevins. These beautiful ladies have kept us in absolute suspense. AND THEY KEEP US THERE! AGHH... The one consolation is that after the last part of The Determined Hero I now understand Galen better. But I need his book. I need to see more Kevin b**t kicked (and I don't mean the cool Kevin we meet in this book.) I will patiently wait for more. Just know that I will miss all of these morts until then.
I love this series. I love these ladies for writing this series. I can't get enough. I don't recommend reading this series out of order. You will miss way to much. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
Avrell is a doctor who knows everything. Zoe has knowledge of nursing and is badass. When their meet, sparks fly, heated discussions at a distance only seem to increase tension. So when Avrell goes to Exilium to help Zoe find a cure for Rades there is no more room for sparks and an explosion is approaching. Avrell is determined to find a cure anyway. Zoe worries that perhaps her concern for the alien doctor is not just because of the welfare of others, but more for her own. Avrell is going crazy trying to find a cure for the terrible disease that has decimated his people and threatens those who remain. To test his hypothesis he infected himself with Rades to find the long-awaited cure. It is then that he and Zoe give in to their wishes and admit that the discussions hide deep feelings for each other. During an attack they discover other beings, similar to the morts but wilder, surviving in the outside. Two minds work better than one and they found out that perhaps exposing themselves to the elements can be beneficial for the immune system to fight the disease. This theory seems to work well, the patients seem to be recovering and Avrell's hope for a happy life with Zoe grows. Then two ships from Earth II arrives and attack. Avrell is a healer, not a fighter, but a threat to his mate turns him into a deadly predator. Julie takeover a ship, they defeated the bad Kevins and she finds a hostage child , named Kevin. Who knew ... A Kevin named Kevin who was held as a prisoner by a Kevin. Young Kevin and Avrell get closer and working together find a cure for Rades. After difficulties communicating with the Facility, Zoe manages to speak with Breccan, who warns her to stay in prison where they are safe as they are struggling with more Earth II troops than expected. Now that they have a cure and a ship they decide to return to the Facility to help their people. Will they succeed? We'll know more in the next book!
The Arrogant Genius is a stunning addition to the Lost Plant series! It is a pulse-pounding, edge-of-your-seat romantic thriller that will leave you wanting so much more. Just when you think you know what's going on, you get the rug pulled out from under you. You tumble into a beautiful unknown and praise the authors for every step of this wonderful, breath-taking journey! It is not to be missed!
There is only one thing on Avril's mind, and it is his sole purpose. He knows what he has to do, but getting it done may prove harder then he ever thought. When his ideas and attempts are thwarted at every turn, he must dig deep and follow his heart. As the clock runs down, he must choose the best and most rewarding path that he can see even if that includes an extremely stubborn and overly prickly woman in existence. Together, they must finish this race and fast because the lives of so many are counting on them.
Avril and Zoe are the most unlikely of pairs, and watching them fall is such a delight! My heart was surprised and in awe as I watched their story unfold. It was brilliant and fun and heart wrenching which made it absolutely perfect.
Blanchard and Webster have crafted a passionate and heart-wrenching series that will draw you in and keep you on your toes the entire time. You will find your heart destroyed and remade before your very eyes. Before you realize it, you will find yourself a part of a family that will accept you with open arms and open hearts. You may never want to leave once you discover this beautiful world and all of its wondrous secrets.
Holy Cow! I really love this series! Each book has its own storyline within the bigger one that connects them all together.
We have seen Avrell and Zoe at each other's throats in the past but now it's time to see what is really going on in their heads.
In a race to save all the prisoners before the "Kevins" come to destroy them for good, Avrell and Zoe must find a cure to save all those affected by The Raids.
All of Avrell and Zoe's bickering soon becomes foreplay and then Avrell decides to put himself in jeopardy for the sake of everyone. This in itself was emotional because the authors made me feel Zoe's struggle through this. She was questioning her feelings for Avrell right as he made the decision to do what he did. Once he did what he did, it soon brought back up her past and her real struggles.
THEN these authors decide to include a Kevin named Kevin that doesn't in fact act like a Kevin. Confused? So was Avrell. Oh my word! This was probably THE most emotional I have been through this entire series (and this is book 8!)!
I love how each book has a bit of humor, suspense, and a lot of heat to each story. It's never dull. Every book is a different trope and a different feel and yet all the characters blend so well together. Each character has their own battle they are fighting within themselves while there is a bigger battle they must fight together in order to survive.
If you've never read sci-fi before, let K. Webster and Nicole Blanchard pop your cherry with The Lost World Series. It's amazing!
I adore this series and this book was another excellent addition to it. Avrell and Zoe's story gets off to a very antagonistic start as these two engage in a battle of wills and words. You can expect plenty of fiery sparks and sharp, clever banter between these two awesome characters. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know these two and seeing how truly perfect they were for each other. I loved how they brought a certain ease to the other that they never even realized they had needed. They sure made one heart stealing, "Is it hot in here?", laugh out loud, swoon worthy and super sassy duo. Aside from this couple's romance, this series overarching story continued to unfold with a compelling combination of action, danger, drama, emotion, humor, sweetness, steam and excitement. As the Mort battle against the evil Kevins reaches its boiling point and we head into the final book in this series I am left terribly torn. I absolutely want to see how it all ends and am powerfully intrigued by what I feel are intriguing possibilities of more things to come BUT I desperately do not want to say goodbye to these beloved Morts, the wonderful women that were strong enough to love them, the precious families they have started to build and the incredible world they have fought so hard for. This is my sincere review that I am posting of my own accord.
This had a lot of the things I love; alien romance, enemies to lovers, Sci-Fi elements, and the whole mates scenario, so that was all fun and awesome! Very passionate connection between human Zoe and alien Avrell; some hot stuff! Love the whole Mine mentality as long as the woman can still assert her independence. Some fun grumpy banter between them; would’ve actually liked more of that feisty banter, but they are cute together. Zoe is super sassy; she’s a strong, smart lady. Avrell is alpha and a bit caveman mentality; mainly because of his alien ways, but he’s a sweetie. In this book, Avrell and Zoe are trying to find a cure for a virus that took out many aliens and humans, but time is short before more will die. Also, there’s some evil humans from Earth II called Kevins that are on their way to take out the aliens. These guys suck so bad! They treat women and children horribly. Some good action going on with the sickness and horrible people causing problems. This was my first read of this series; I wasn’t lost and got into the story quickly, but you may want to start from the beginning for the full story. There’s still more story to be told in this series with its overarching storylines throughout the series. Excited to read more in this series! Entertaining and fun!
The Kevin's are coming. Their facility is in dangerous. Their family in under attack. Not just the Rades virus that is like ticking bomb Avrel and Zoe need to find cure, now the Mort and their aliens must face the war coming to their fornt door.
This 8th instalment getting seriously nail biting. Although a novella in each instalment, K Webster and Nicole Blanchard manage to get all the mix ingredients perfectly. Action, family, friends, romance, intensity, light angst, steamy, splash of comedy, this series have it all.
If you follow this series from the start or from the previous book, you know the chemistry between Zoe and Avrel is combustible. They are both care a lot of their love ones. Zoe hide her feelings in anger instead of fear. Avrel done it in his stubborn, arogant way of knowing all.
Love how their enemy to lover move slowly from the previous books until their proximity of working together force them to deal with each other.
Love how both of them have the same fierce love. Love the fast pace of the book. This whole series really. Hate the ending! 😂 that ending kills me because I can't have it! I just can't have my Morts hurt like that😭
This series man!!! Just continues to get better and better than the last one. So many layers, such an intricate plot. The characters feel like family now and I want all to have an everlasting HEA. But my gawd this book cranked the intensity all the way up to an 11!! Before getting to the epilogue I was sure this series was going to continue on for like fourteen more books. Sadly, book nine, Galen’s will be the last. But it can’t be!!! So much more to be explored. But I guess since every Mort has been paired off and making cute mortlings, we need to start pairing off those nomad Mort-like men? Who knows. To be seen. What’s for certain is that Avrell and Zoe were always meant to be. Their chemistry is intense. Their fiery banter is like their foreplay 🤣🤣🤣. This book had my heart in overdrive the whole time due to it being written in a countdown to the attack of the Kevins. Heartstrings will be tugged and you will feel like you’ve been hit with a battering ram in the chest. It’s so good!!!!
New story in the Lost Planet series! *squee* Excitement was high and I wanted to read the story of Averil and Zoe as previous books were really good and I enjoyed reading those. This time Ms. Webster and Ms. Blanchard brought us the story in the form of a novella. I went into this story with expectation HIGH - yet found this story just ok - I was expecting MORE from this world. The story felt flat, unfortunately, as the characters went from hate, something in the middle, and then LOVE... sorry but it was something that I had not expected it to be done so fast. I don't know if it means I need something more from this world or something more? Time will tell. I'm cheering for the NEXT story in The Lost Planet!!
I loved this book. I love the Morts and their mates. I could not put the book down. Zoe is in charge. Avrell is not. He is there to help not take over. But he is going to take over more than the care of her patients. I was engrossed with this story. The Characters are beautifully written. The plot has great depth of detail, written with care and love for the characters. My favourite line. And when you have read the series it will make total sense. This is not a spoiler. 'A Kevin named Kevin who’s been kept like a prisoner by a Kevin.' Brilliant 👏 I highly recommend this book and series. I cannot wait for the next book.
I had been not so patiently waiting for this story of Averil and Zoe since I finished the previous book in the series. It was worth the wait. Sheryl is the no it all male who has a condescending attitude towards the Earth female who is trying to nurse the sick patients back to health from The Races. She's also trying to figure out a way to cure the disease. Their arguing back and forth as to who's right is a cover for their underlying attraction. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and am very impatiently awaiting the next one.
Avrell and Zoe are featured in this enemies to lovers and I just had a hard time rooting for them. Avrell was arrogant and very full of himself and Zoe just liked to pick fights with him. It took awhile for them to get together and it just didn't feel as organic (as much as an instalove fated mates can be) than the others. He's selfless and puts himself in danger for the rest of his people which redeemed him for me. We still follow the underlying plot and I feel like that's wrapped up nicely. It's just not my favorite of the series.
Oh man. We finally got Averell's book and it didn't disappoint haha. With Zoe and him there's always fireworks because of how infuriating he is to her and she gets so mad. But in the circumstances things change as they try to find a cure for the Rades! Which if they dont it will continue to harm their kind. Not to mention the Kevins! Ugh im so not read go see this series end but it was a fun, great read!
Oh my! The race continues to save the Morts and the humans and it’s up to Avrell and Zoe. I love how the story flows so organically and there’s basically no drama between Zoe and Av other than their fighting. Their banter was fun and sort of foreplay for them. They’re both strong and I love how Av doesn’t give up. The ending left me with my mouth wide open and screaming at my Kindle because I need to know what happens next! I can’t wait for the next book!
Y’all! We have a cure for the rades! The fight is not over with the Kevin’s but things started looking up when a cure was found.
“Bossy. Arrogant. Rude. Intelligent. Kind. Dedicated. Monstrous. Devious. Mine.” We have two more mates.
This was a short read and we’re left on sort of a cliffhanger because we still don’t know what’s going on with all the Kevin’s coming. I can’t wait for the conclusion!
I'm so torn, I need the next book right rekking now but I so don't want to say goodbye to Mortuus and the morts. Altho, I do have hope that there could be a spinoff series and of course Mortuus: The Next Generation. Anyway to Avrell and Zoe, I'm so rekking happy that Avrell found his mate. He wanted one so badly in the beginning but Zoe was his perfect match. Where's our Avrell to find the covid cure, lol.
The Arrogant Genius is so much more than just a love story. Its a heart stopping, keep you on the edge of your seat sci-fi thriller, with some steamy scenes. You get all the heat with this enemies to lovers couple. Zoe and Avrell are fire together. They'll tug at your heart strings while making you laugh. I can't wait for the last book
