This is the second book in the series but can be easily enjoyed as a stand alone. This one starts out by throwing the reader straight into the action and basically doesn't stop until the end. This is a fast paced quick read that will keep your engrossed in the pages for a couple hours. It's the perfect get away from your everyday. I loved how we've got our police detective and marine as both have such strong personalities. There's no weakness shown here. We also see a bit of family dynamic play a part as Theodore is trying to protect his brother Zander who appears to be having a breakdown and is on the loosing battle with his bear side. I really enjoyed the shifter integration into the story.

Marine to the Rescue!

Kate is a detective in the police force. She is out for her morning run with her dog Hero, when she finds a woman’s bloody body with a naked man leaning over her. The man runs before she can get a good look at him. She and Hero chase him, but he disappears.

Theodore is a bear shifter and a Marine. He has returned to his hometown searching for his troubled brother that is suffering from PTSD and has lost control of his bear. He killed one marine before he was discharged and Theo finds his second victim too late to save her. When Kate sees him, he runs, because there is no way he can explain what happened.

Kate is put on leave per department policy and must visit the therapist before she is allowed to return to duty. Her twin sister Callie talks her into going out to a bar that night, even though that’s not her scene. She gets a little too tipsy on wine and runs into Theo, literally, spilling wine all over herself. She starts walking home and is attacked by a drunk. Theo follows her because he feel bad that he spilled wine on her and follows to make sure she gets home safely. He rescues her from the drunk and walks her the rest of the way home. They can’t keep there hands off each other and end up spending the night together. Theo promises to contact her after he deals with a family emergency.

Theo and his sister Lorena, manage to find their brother Zander and call their father to get him the help he needs. They are with him at home, even thought Theo hates his father, to support Zander. In the mean time, Kate discovers she is pregnant and freaks! She calls Theo and he comes running. While they are rediscovering their passion, Hero is attacked by Zander. They rush him to the vet and wait until he is out of surgery. Theo calls Lorena and tells her Zander is there. He injured his guards when he escaped and came after Kate because she took Theo away from him. He has totally lost it! They call Callie to go over to Kate’s and lock up the house because they forgot when they raced out. Callie calls them shortly afterwards begging for help. Zander came back and attacked her. Theo manages to subdue Zander after Kate shoots him in the leg. Theo is forced to tell her the truth and hope that she won’t try and arrest him and put him in a human jail or mental institute. She saw them both shift so she knows there is no way humans can contain him. His father shows up and takes Zander away and puts him in a facility for shifters to get more treatment. Somehow Kate hasn’t gotten around to telling Theo she is pregnant.

A week later Kate goes to the facility where Zander is being held. Theo’s father tricks Theo and Zander into leaving the room and he confronts Kate and has two of his goons start beating Kate up to kill her. Then he was going to go after Callie and kill her too. Theo walks in and goes after his father. Kate pleads not to hurt her baby. Things came to a screaming halt! Theo tells his father if he ever comes near Kate again he will kill him. They go back to her apartment to talk. The next day, Zander goes totally crazy. No one can get near him and he is destroying the facility. Theo and Kate rush to the facility and Theo tries to subdue Zander. When Kate realizes he is going to kill Theo she shoots him. He lets go of Theo but comes after her, so she shoot and kills him. Though it is a tragic end, they all knew that was probably the way it was going to end. Theo and Lorena are sad their brother is gone, but very excited about the baby. Theo asks her to marry him and she agrees.

This is a fantastic book and I couldn’t put it down!!

This is the second book in this series and it takes off with a bang and never really slows down A perfect way to spend a few hours and escape from life. Like all of Scarlett's books while part of a series it can be read as a stand alone

Theodore (Theo ) is bear shifter and a member of the marines he has come home to his small town as his brother has had a psychotic break and he needs to hunt for him. Zander has already killed a fellow marine and now it looks like he has killed a woman if the body at Theo's feet is anything to go by. Kate is a member of the local police force and is out having a run with her dog Hero when she sees Theo near the body he flees knowing he would be charged with her murder. That evening Theo and Kate meet again when he accidentally spills wine all over her in abar she decides to leave and feeling guilty and worried about her Theo decides to follow her it is a good job he does as she is accosted by a drunk. The passion flares between them and he spends the night with her. Leaving the nest morning he explains to Kate that he has a family emergency he needs to tend to but he will return when he can Luckily he soon finds and grabs Zander and gives him to the care of his father who he doesn't like and his sister Lorena. By now Kate has a problem of her own she has discovered she is pregnant with Theo baby and calls him to come over Things escalate when Zander escapes and tracks Theo to Kate's place wanting to kill the woman who h believes has taken his brother from him only problem is he mistakes Cassie Kate's twin sister for her Theo has to fight with Zander and in the process they both turn into bears Can Kate accept that Theo has an animal inside Will she allow Zander to be taken to a shifter facility leaving the crime unsolved and what will Theo say when he discovers he is going to be a father You will have to read to find out these answers

A very enjoyable story I volunteer to read and review. This story about Theodore Redwood a ex marine bear shifter and Kate Mills a human cop was a intense, romantic story. Theo and his sister Lorena are looking around town for their brother Zander who is suffering from PTSD after living through a bomb explosion while serving in the Marines. While taking a run in the woods behind her back yard, Kate and her dog Hero come across a naked man bent over a women body. Theo following his brothers scent discovers the body that has his brothers scent over it. When Kate approaches she sends Hero after the naked man but Theo loses Hero when he changes into a bear. Kate calls in the murder women and her Chief gives her two days off which she goes to visit her sister Callie. Callie tells her she needs to go out which she does and while she walking home from the bar gets hit on where Theo comes to the rescue. They have a night of passion that both can't forget. Can Theo and Lorena find their brother before he kills again and can they help him? Will Kate accept Theo when she finds out he's a shifter? The characters in this story are well define and likable, the romance steamy and the drama heart-wrenching until the light begins to shine. While jogging in the forest path, with her retired police dog Hero, Kate a detective stopped jogging when her dog started whining. Both went to investigate and saw a naked man leaning over a woman covered in blood. One look at Kate and this nake man ran off into the forest.
Theodore a bear shifter has come home after a long absences in the military with his younger brother, Zander. But things have changed for his brother, the war has changed him and now he is dangerous and insane, Zander has killed a private. Not only that, but while Theo was out looking for Zander in his animal form, he found a body of a young woman with the scent of his brother all over her. Now a woman and her dog spotted him over the body and thinks Theo killed her and no sigh of Zander anywhere. Theo found Zander and realized that he has PTSD is worse then he thought. While out checking his brothers favorite places, bring Theo to a the local bar. There is see the woman from that morning being attacked and come to her rescue. After spending the night together the both realize that there is something more then a one night stand. Can Theo get past his guilt about his brother following him into the military and changing him into a dangerous shifter, to have a real relationship with the beautiful woman he is falling in love with.

After leaving the bar she is attacked then she is saved by Theodore.
As bear shifter Theodore Redwood tracks his brother Zander who is having a a PTSD episode when he finds the body of a woman with part of the throat missing and just as he is checking for a pulse a woman and her dog appear so he runs and the dog gives chase. Detective Kate Mills is forced to take time off after finding a body on her morning run and her sister Callie suggests they have a night out. By ten Callie had found a man for the night and Kate is left alone in the bar then as she gets up to leave she bumps into a large sexy guy and knocks her red wine all over herself. He offers to buy her another drink but she tells him she is just leaving anyway. Outside she decides to walk to her sister's apartment but is soon approached by a a man who when she tells him no grabs her by her hair then the man from the bar drags him off of her and gets him to leave. Theodore then walks her home and she asks him in.

This book is amazing and I loved it! Another story of Marine Corps bears and this one is Theo and Kate's story. The first time they meet, he's crouched over a dead body, and he's naked! They will meet again at a bar and will end up spending a night together that will change both their lives. It will be a bumpy road, however, as Theo must deal with his brother Zander, a bear shifter suffering from PTSD after an accident in the Marines. While he is in the midst of trying to get Zander help, Kate will find out she's pregnant and it will lead Zander right to her when Theo leaves to see her. Theo and Kate will find their way to each other again and Theo is thrilled to learn she's pregnant but one more encounter with Zander will not end well. Theo and Kate will get to move on with their happily ever after, with the blessing of Zander's brother, who whispers to Theo on his wedding day.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Saving Her by Scarlet Ray is the second book in her Marine Corp Bears series. I really enjoyed this read. Kate and Theo's story is action packed with lots of drama and a touch of sadness, but blossoms into a beautiful HEA. For a quick read there is a lot packed into this story that makes it a meatier read than I had anticipated. Much like the first book in this series (Protecting Her) the characters are strong and relatable. I thought Scarlet Ray did an excellent job of portraying PTSD as a tangible and sometimes unseen threat. A great read that leaves you feeling good! This Mature Readers Only read can be read as stand alone.

Theodore is out looking for his brother, Zander. They were both in the Marines and Zander was severely injured by a bomb in Afghanistan. Zander had severe PTSD and this caused him to do something very bad. He murdered a marine before he left the military and then follows Theodore home and murders a woman there. Kate is a police woman who is out running with her dog, Hero, a retired police dog. She comes across Theodore after he found the body of the woman and then again at a bar. Theodore is a bear shifter. Things go from interesting to strange in a very short period of time. Family is very crazy in this book. I loved reading this story and almost cried reading it. Thank you. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of the book.

Theodore found a dead woman in the park that had the smell of his brother. Kate is a dectective in the police force was running with her dog. The dog was a retired police dog. When she saw someone over the body they stated to chase but lost them. Theodore was instant attracted when he met her not knowing she was the officer that chased him while at a bar. They spent the night together. They meet again after she finds out she is pregnant. Theodore is trying to help his brother to control his bear, but the father just get other to help. When Sander was fighting Theodore Kate shot and killed him

Kate comes across a grisly scene while jogging. Theo is on the hunt for his brother, Zander, who is suffering from PTSD.
Theo has found his brother's victim but must run from the beautiful woman who comes upon him.
Now they find themselves dealing with a strong attraction while they work to protect the public and get Zander the help he needs.
This is a very intense story, well written with a strong plot, engaging characters, and exciting action. I was ready to give a 5-star rating until the end where it seemed rushed, with sudden turnarounds that did not fit with the rest of the story. Fast-paced story with suspicion, murder, danger, fear, attraction and romance. PTSD is difficult enough to cope with, but when mixed with shifter strength, it tends to get out of hand very quickly. Theo and Kate must overcome some severe family problems before they can find their happily ever after. The story grabbed my interest from the beginning and encouraged me to hang on until the end. This is a very enjoyable book.

This is Theo and Kate's story . While out with her dog Kate comes upon a dead woman and a male that takes off running so she figures he must be the killer . Theo is a Marine with PTSD and was accused of killing a fellow Marine . After saving her from a drunk these two just cannot help but want each other . While on leave Kate learns she has even more to deal with now ! This is a well written and recommended quick read !

Kate is a detective who has adopted a retired police dog, Hero.
Kate was out running with Hero when she came upon a naked man leaning over a dead body. Hero chased him, but lost him.

Theodore's a Marine, even though his father is a billionaire. All the money in the world isn't going to fix his family. He was out running, when he came upon a dead woman. And he knows who killed her.

My god I loved this book.

Theo and kates story is AMAZING!

I've been waiting for it because I have a new found obsession with shifters so as soon as it hit my inbox I downloaded and devoured it.

Its all consuming, I couldn't put it down, everything about it made the hairs on the back on my neck stand up and my heart was in my mouth, I wanted to flip through the pages to find out what happened but also wanted to savour it so it never ended.

Theo and Kate meet at a time when they’re both in need of someone. Kate is a very strong character. Some characters you get a better feel for than others. I liked the story but I’m not sure I will continue with the series. I didn’t like how quickly some things were resolved especially between Theo and his father whom was supposed to be this absolutely evil shifter it was a bit of a let down.

This author always does a great job of pulling you into the story and the lives and emotion the characters. Kate and Theo what a meeting the two had. And with Theo's family issues this book does not slow down. I enjoyed this story and the twist and turns it took. I did find an error in the story what Callie - Kate's sister but since she was not the main character I just overlooked it.

Liked the second in the series of Theo, a bear shifter who was found by a Lady cop, Kate and her dog Hero, naked and leaning over a dead woman in the forest. He shifts and Hero chases him but he loses Hero. Theo is searching for his younger brother who is suffering from PTSD after serving in the military and was near a bomb blast and needs help. It is a bumpy road for Theo and Kate but they eventually find their way to each other.

Wow! A compelling read! The story pulled me in from the first page and I was held captivated until the end. It is a well written, fast pace, well developed, and very interesting nail-biting on the edge of your seat page-turner. There is action, drama, suspense, lots of twists and turns, and more. The characters are amazing and you will root for them. Highly recommended.

This is book two of the Marine Corps Bear Series and is even better than book one. Theo saved Kate from an attack, but could he save her from the killer currently loose? A terrible, heart breaking tragedy runs through this book and does reach a culmination. Excellent read!

Wow, Ms Ray pulled all the stops out with this one.  This is not your typical shifter story.  But it's just right.  Kate is a no nonsense cop and Theodore has big family issues.  They meet in a strange way. Not gonna spoil it.  So I want you to get a glass of ice water and a box of tissues and settle in for this five star read

She a hardcore cop that don't know how to take it easy, but when she finds a DOA on a morning job and then has a one nightstand and gets preg. Who k is what else will happen in this book?
