Unfortunately for me, I did not realize that I had delved into this series previously and hated it. Of all the obnoxious, nosy, busybody, know-it-all, butt-in-skis I have come across in the numerous books I have read, no one tops Cassie. She is apart unto herself. Little Miss know-it-all barrels into police investigations. Of course, she knows more than the law enforcement people who have been schooled in their work. So she walks around asking (interrogating, really) people even though she has been asked numerous times to butt out.
I am going to have to look at my "authors non grata" list more closely so I do not inadvertently pick up one of Ms Bell's books again and go through the pain and aggravation of skimming through it just so I can find out who did it while suffering with Ms.Cassie's abject stupidity..

Cassie Albright is settling into the small town of Little Leaf Creek, and her home, with the help of Sebastian Vale, the town’s handy-man. Cassie has made several new friends, and with the Thanksgiving holiday quickly approaching, she finds herself missing the time when her family gathered around. Deciding to invite her friends over becomes a challenge, as friend and neighbor, Tessa, is bound and determined to not take part. Cassie comes up with the idea to enlist Tessa’s help baking an Apple Pie, something she is well-known for. First, she needs to purchase the apples! After trying one orchard that was close, she drove to the competitor’s orchard where she discovers the owner dead, murdered! Cassie involves herself in the investigation by gathering clues, with the input from Tessa and Sebastian, a possible love interest. The town’s detective, Oliver Graham, is fit to be tied when he learns Cassie is once again involved in his investigation.

In this latest book in the Little Leaf Series, I found the backstory of some of the characters interesting. I’m looking forward to seeing how the relationships develop, as each brings something new to the story. Cassie is a determined protagonist, and Tessa, the perfect sounding board. With Tessa’s background in law enforcement, she is a wealth of knowledge to Cassie. This new series of Ms. Bell is a delightful addition to her other well-loved series. I find it to be very entertaining, and a quick read. The perfect cozy to lose yourself in the small town of Little Leaf Creek. I received an advanced copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Surrounded by friends

Another great book by Cindy Bell. I am amazed at the variety of her writing. This story is very typical of small town comradary in times of danger.

Another clean cozy mystery for you. Cassie is relatively new to Little Leaf Creek but has already made a couple of friends. She is not really interested in them as anything other then friends--but Sebastian-the guy who is helping her with her house has other ideas.

This is essentially a town of farmers and they sell their produce to the townspeople. When one of them died some one else bought his farm and was undercutting all the others with pricing. When Cassie went to pick up some apples she found him dead. The Sheriff and Sebastian did not want her investigating--good luck with that! Her other friend used to be a police person and the two of them worked the case together.

Meanwhile Cassie wanted to get all her friends together for Thanksgiving--not as easy as you would think. She finally asked her friend to please show her how to make her apple pie that everyone raved about. You will find the recipe for this apple pie at the end of the book.

So do they finally figure out among the many suspects who committed the murder--and did Cassie manage to get everyone together for a meal. There are a couple of surprises at the end--but rest assured they are happy ones!

Cassie Alberta is still getting settled in Little Leaf Creek. She is enjoying working at Mirabel's Diner and working with Sebastian Vail on her house. She is becoming closer to her ex-police woman, Tessa Watters, her next door neighbor. She wants to bring everyone together for Thanksgiving dinner at her house. She wants Tessa to make one of her delicious apple pies so she heads to Zadh's orchard to purchase apples. When Zach is not around she stops at James' Orchard only to find James Rallow lying on the ground with an edge digger in his chest. Cassie wants to investigate the murder to find out who killed him. Detective Oliver Graham warns her that she is putting her own life in danger.
This is the third book in this series. I have enjoyed watching the characters develop. You will keep turning the pages trying to figure out who the killer is.
I have really loved this series. I received an advance copy of this book. This is my honest review.

Conflict in Little Leaf Creek (A Little Leaf Creek Cozy Mystery Book 3) — Cindy Bell (30 chapters + Tessa’s Apple Pie Recipe) Jan 12, 2022

A short, sweet review like this story.

A quick little, but a complete cozy mystery. Cassie has moved to Little Leaf Creek after her husband’s death (this book is #3 in the series and those events took place, I assume, in the first book.) In this story, Cassie comes across the victim in an orchard and teams up with Tessa to solve the mystery.

This book is perfect for cozy fans that are slightly older and want a quick read. I read it in one evening.

There are two “love” interests for Cassie: a sheriff and the farmer.

It was OK but didn’t exactly knock my socks off.

Two stars.

Cassie moved to a small town after her husband died. They never had any children. There were two orchards in town , one sold items cheaper than the other stand. Everyone was buying from the cheaper one so the other was losing business. One day Cassie went to buy apples and found no one at the store . She called for some one and then she ended up finding the own laying dead on the ground. Her and her neighbor Tessa who used to work for the police years ago, decided to investigate and try to figure out who murdered Ben. Did it have anything to do with the orchards. The porch seemed to be of interest but what had it to do with the murder if anything ????

It was the fall season and that meant time for apple pie. Cassie was just going to the orchards for some apples. Instead, she finds the dead body of the orchard owner. Was it the guy whose business was going down because of him? Or one of the farm hands that was fired? There were way too many possible suspects in this one. There was way too much conflict, but it wasn’t very interesting conflict. Too complicated for a cozy mystery. Very slow, too. There was too much time spent on the Thanksgiving hoopla. You get kind of tired of it after a while.

An okay read, but certainly not the greatest.

Review of this book.

This book was an exceptional piece of writing. The story was well thought out. There was quite a bit of drama and suspense, as well as humor and romance. The clues were spaced through the book to keep it very interesting. It also kept the reader guessing right up to the end. I did not see the ending coming at all. I knew there was something important about the porch. I was right in surmising that there was something hidden under the porch. I was wrong in guessing what it was. Very good writing on the author's part. She has a unique way of writing mysteries. I truely enjoy these cozy mysteries. No profanity or explicit sex. Keep up the good work!

A Murder Years Ago and A Murder Days Ago

When the disliked new owner of an orchard is murdered and Cassie is the one who finds the body, her need to find the answers causes her to be in danger and makes Oliver crazy. A very interesting plot, some quirky but loveable characters, and Cassie's successful efforts to help her friends become her new family makes this a delightful read.

Cassie does it again!

Cassie finds another body that drags her thru danger, heart ache, and just maybe something really nice that leads her to happiness. Danger seems to follow this author's main character around. This is book three I believe and every one of them a great read. Also enjoy the great recipe at the end for exceptional apple pie. I guessed the secret as I've been baking my apple pies just like this.

Enjoyable!

This is a new author to me and the story was a quick, clean read. Cassie seems to be the biggest busybody in the small town, even though she’s a fairly recent newcomer. There’s a murder, a lot of suspects, some drama, a friendly dog, and a couple of goats. There were a few spots where the story jumped from one scene to another without notice. I did figure out the porch connection right away. The recipe at the end of the book sounds yummy.

Solving the Case and Bringing FolksTogether

Cassie has a knack for stumbling across bodies and then trying to solve the mystery. This was another fast paced murder mystery with a lot of intrigue. As usual there are a lot of suspects, but no obvious killer. That is always a surprise. Cassie and Tessa always get their man or woman. Back stories are unfolding with each book like a mini series, I love it. Can't wait to start the next book in the series.

Another winner!

This book, #3 in the Little Leaf Creek series, kept me guessing right up to the very end! We're learning more about each main character and it almost makes me want to skip a few to see what's happening in one of the later offerings, but I have never done that, so I won't start now! I just hope the rest of the books are as exciting as this one. I'm sure they will be with Cindy Bell writing them!! She's a great story teller.

Great read!

Continuing story of Cassie. I really enjoyed this story and how it unfolded. The characters were well written. I had not read the previous books so felt a little out because I didn't know their histories but it still flowed nicely without it. The only thing a bit frustrating is the typical "I don't need to listen to law enforcement because I want to know who did it" attitude. Always in danger because of it.

Another good mystery with several possibilities for the killer, and a cold case killer was revealed as well. The showdown was exciting with Harry the dog lending a helping paw. It looks as if Tessa and Ollie might be coming to a good place where they can talk as friends again. Cassie was determined to have all her new friends come for Thanksgiving, so she went at it in an only-Cassie-could-think-of-it way which was super sweet.

Good Series

I really like this series and the town of Little Leaf. The characters are warm and familiar. The murder is well done with a twist. There is romance afoot. There are cute animals and small town life. The story is tight, the journey to the culprit interesting. I look forward to the next book.

Child like writing

This book was poorly edited, if at all. It certainly wasn’t proof read by someone with skill or experience. It also bounces back and forth between being told in first person and third person as a narrator. It has a weak storyline and an impossible to believe romantic set up.
I’m glad the book was free, because it’s not even worth that.

Though this is book 3, it was the first I have read of the series. I do not like when the heroine puts herself in dangerous situations and will not listen to the police. However, the story was good enough that I would read other books in this series or others by this author.

A great cozy mystery

Newcomer Cassie finds a body and then with the help of a friend tries to find the murderer, much to the distress and irritation of the local law—throw in a great apple pie and a little romance—pour a cup of coffee and enjoy.

Quick read

A few twists along the way. Believable characters. A simple plot mystery solved by an amatuer sleuth. Cleanly written, no blatant sex scenes, no cursing. Acceptable for teen age readers.

Cozy Mystery

I loved this. While I figured out the mystery fairly quick it was so much fun watching Cassie and Tessa put all the clues together. A touch of romance a.d tons of friendship that makes this a perfect series.
