He's looking for seasonal help. She's looking for a news story. One thing is certain, neither is looking to fall in love by Christmas...
Local television personality Kate Carmichael has two weeks to learn how to run a Christmas tree farm for her latest assignment with On the Job. Too bad the gruff cowboy who owns Yuletide Farm doesn’t want her anywhere near his property, much less rolling her camera. For someone whose entire livelihood revolves around Christmas, the man is anything but merry. But Kate is determined to break through his frozen exterior. After all, uncovering the real story is what she does best.
For Deacon Winters, maintaining the legacy of his family’s tree farm is a weight heavier than Santa’s toy-filled sleigh. When his mother hires Kate as a holiday farmhand, it’s with the hope her TV show can generate publicity for their business. Deacon isn’t thrilled, but numbers are down and the memory of the year he almost lost it all is as fresh as the cut evergreens he sells. Plus, there’s something about Kate’s joyful—albeit persistent—attitude he can’t resist. Suddenly, he’s baking gingerbread houses, dancing in the fallen snow, and decorating Christmas trees, all to spend more time with her.
Just as Deacon’s heart begins to thaw, Kate’s assignment is cut short and the reason for her sudden departure has him reliving painful memories of Christmas past. Is a merry-ever-after in the cards this holiday season or is their relationship just more of yesterday's news?
Christmas At Yuletide Farm is the small town romance between Kate and Deacon. Kate is the host of this show, On The Job With Kate, where she does on the job stuff, interviewing and getting to know different people with all kinds of jobs. She is from Sacramento and sent to a small town not too far away to a family Christmas tree farm which is where she meets Deacon.
Kate is the sunshine to Deacon's grump but the further you get into the book you learn he's more guarded than anything. His previous relationship really took a toll on him. He inherited the family Christmas tree farm which has been in his family for generations. On top of the pressure of not wanting to be the family member that ruins everything, his ex wanted to turn it into a resort. He's stubborn and stuck in his ways and not a fan initially of Kate being there but the farm could really use the publicity that will come along with her being there.
Oh how I love the forced, close proximity that comes along with two people working together. I liked seeing these two get to know more about one another the more time they spend together. It forces you to give the person a chance. They realize they both aren't so bad. The author gave me all the Christmas vibes; I could feel the winter wind on my skin and imagine the descriptions of snow. Though Kate is full of sunshine, she hasn't had it the best and I think she's a testament to how sometimes, being the sunshine instead of the rain is a choice. She could've turned out so many other ways but became a person that gives her full attention to whomever she's talking to and makes everyone feel special.
It was sweet, cute, an enjoyable read. The more I read Christmas romances I think I'm beginning to want a little more. Especially in 2020, I want something fun, a little humor. This felt like a lot of the holiday romances I've already read. Not terrible and I'll definitely continue to haul whatever Megan Squires puts out!
This was a fast, fun read that left the reader feeling good about themselves, the book and the holiday season!
This was my first book by author Megan Squires, but it won't be my last! I will be reading more by her in the future for sure! The author wrote a story that grabbed the readers attention right from the start and never let it go! There was fun, laughter, and drama but it all lead to a HEA that the reader loved!
This story will stick with the reader long after they have finished - don't hesitate to add this one to your TBR list and move it to the top! It's a can't miss Christmas story for everyone!
Not only were the characters endearing, the snowy descriptions of the tree farm in the California Sierras were so beautiful and immediately transported me to the tree farm. Maybe having a gorgeous 8” of snow outside my own windows was, in a small way, the impetus behind my connection to the location. Seriously, the romance aspect of the story reeled me in. It was a glorious story and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a lovely romance sprinkled with humor. Christmas at Yuletide farm is one for your “must read” list.
DNF at 54% (skimmed the rest). Two stars, because the writing itself was good. The story, though... it started off really nice, if a little cliché, but the longer I read, the sweeter it became until I could go on no longer because my teeth started hurting. I returned it for refund.
Short & sweet Christmas novella with a grump hero, what more could you want? This one was really cute and I really liked the relationships throughout - I think I would have enjoyed it even more if we had gotten more of it!
This is a beautiful and heartwarming Christmas love story set on a Christmas tree farm. I like how innocent and sweet Deacon and Kate go from boss and reporter to an attraction and romance. A definite feel-good story.

Christmas at Yuletide Farm by Megan Squires is a story of two very different people falling in love at Christmas time. For her news section, On the Job, Kate Carmichael follows a local business, works in the field and learns the trade. The newest assignment is learning how to run a Christmas tree farm. However, Deacon Winters, the farm’s owner, thinks she is there simply as a hired seasonal farmhand and doesn’t want the cameras around and certainly doesn't want to be interviewed. He is too gruff to be a man whose livelihood revolves around Christmas. Little does she know that Deacon carries the weight of his family’s legacy and he reluctantly agrees to allow Kate to work the farm; hoping the publicity generates new customers. Kate’s joyful attitude chips away the icy around his heart that he finds himself hoping for a merry-ever after. Christmas at Yuletide Farm is a sweet, clean, grumpy-sunshine romance. I loved the fun banter and the feel of the Christmas season. I enjoyed Deacon who hides a painful broken heart and Kate’s willingness to try any task, the growth in their relationship was fun to read. I also enjoyed his commitment to his family’s farm and his determination to see it thrive. Kate’s sunshine attitude certainly melts Deacon’s grumpy demeanor. Of course, the reason behind his broken heart is revealed and causes plenty of drama. I loved all the aspects of Christmas, the snow, the gingerbread houses and hot cocoa. I swear I could smell the pine scent of the trees. There’s even fun moments with a lovable puppy. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. There were smiles, laughs and great romantic moments. If you enjoy Christmas romances, I highly, highly recommend Christmas at Yuletide Farm.
Christmas at Yuletide Farm is available in paperback and eBook
Oh, this is precisely the book I wanted for my next Christmas read. It is so filled with joy and the holiday spirit. The author drew me right in with the first scene with her description of both the setting—which put me right there, seeing the Christmas tree farm through the hero’s eyes—and showing the caring, good heart of the hero. The meet-cute was a lot of fun (and awkward!), and I enjoyed reading the romantic arc between these two deserving souls. There are so many lovely little holiday moments and sweet elements of romance. The secondary characters are fantastic as well, and I hope that brother Cody gets his own romance, too. A delightful, heartfelt holiday romance that brings all the Christmastime love story feels.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Deacon is closed off after being hurt by his ex and Katie is an outgoing reporter making a living trying other people's jobs. I loved hearing about all the places she had been and occupations she has tried. Deacon has always been a part of the Yuletide Tree Farm and doesn't know any other life. He doesn't want to be on the news nor have Kate asking personal questions and thinks with her heels and citified look that she will never fit in as a farm hand. It was interesting hearing about all the things they offered at the tree farm, which was not just selecting trees to cut, but handmade wreaths, ornaments, and candles. Deacon's mother was warm and welcoming and his brother Cody is funny and sweet and deserves his own romance. This was a sweet opposites attract holiday romance.
What a sweet holiday read that I really enjoyed. Just in time for the holidays, this sweet read, really hits the spot. Megan Squires is a new to me author and I can not wait to read more of her work.
Great characters there were so easy to fall in love with. Great detailed descriptions that were so easy to visualize. Engaging dialogue, that made you feel as if you are a part of the conversation, and you can not forget the amazing story line that just sucks you in entertains the whole time.
Written as a 3rd person, multi pov with a HEA ending.

I loved this holiday book. The characters were very well written in. Deacon owns a family Christmas tree farm. He would do anything to make sure his family keeps the farm. So when Kate, a journalist that wants a great story, comes to the farm to work, he does everything in his power to ignore her. Kate was under a contract with Deacons mother to bring more customers to the farm so she gets to work as soon as she arrives. Will Kate succeed with her job or will she do the wrong thing and fall in love with the family including Deacon?

Very sweet holiday romance. Sort of like girl from the city meets guy from the mountains, she’s outgoing and he’s shy. However that’s not really true for him, a relationship changed Deacon into a guarded man. Kate is a big personality on local Sacramento tv working a fun segment similar to Dirty Jobs but cleaner and wholesome. They started out rough and quickly got over the quirks and nerves to become something more. This is a lovely clean romantic story for any age, young teens to adult. I received my copy from the author and wrote my review voluntarily.
Another sweet Christmas story from Megan Squires! Deacon is not thrilled about the hired help his mom brought in for the season, and Kate didn't know what she got herself into when she agreed to work at the tree farm. But Kate's bubbly personality finally breaks down Deacon's walls and they begin to settle into something special. Just when things finally start to blossom between the two, Kate is moved to a new assignment. Deacon resigns to the fact that love probably is not in the cards for him.
Loved this sweet story and I immersed myself in the beautiful setting!
I have come to always enjoy a story by Megan and her latest Christmas story is no exception. Kate and Deacon’s romance and the setting of Deacon’s family tree farm was just about perfect. Megan seems to have a knack for writing stories that would make lovely Hallmark movies and as I read this I could totally see this story as a Hallmark movie! The story is sweet and the romance develops naturally. I really enjoyed this story!

Kate Carmichael has 2 weeks to learn how to run a Christmas tree farm for her show called On the Job...but there is a catch. She won't have her favourite cameraman with her...She will have to video the 2 weeks with her phone Deacon is waiting for his new farm hand that his mother hired and when Kate shows up...well Deacon is flabbergasted that his new farm hand is a women. What happens? Well you will have to read the book and truthfully you won't be disappointed Great storyline and wonderful characters. I loved it
I enjoyed this story of Kate and her news job taking her from one story after another and she's just about done every job out there . Her character is contagious , charming , confident and falling for the boss on the Yuletide farm . Deacon is handsomely rugged from his cowboy boots to his cowboy hat , he's down to earth , hard working and charming . Deacon soon feels his heart falling for Kate and she's falling for him . I think I'll stop there and let you read this wonderful book

A Small-Town Christmas Romance Novel is well written and held my interest until the end. I enjoyed seeing local television personality Kate Carmichael, and cowboy Deacon Winters' story come together. This is a new Author to me and I want to read more by her. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Author Megan Squires has done it again. She has created a beautiful story, with wonderful and realistic characters, and details that will have you believing you are inside the story. I would highly recommend this story if you love Hallmark style stories!
Thank you to booksprout and the author for allowing me the opportunity to express my honest opinion.
Very enjoyable. I chose this title because I was looking for a sweet Christmas book. I was not disappointed. I read it straight through and loved every page. I became enthralled with the characters .and feel like I really know them. Good read. A great distraction from our crazy world right now. Pandemic of 2020 and crazy politics.
I enjoyed reading this story. It was a well thought out storyline. It almost was like a fairytale with love at first sight. With that said it was a bit drawn out for me, and I think it was because of the love at first glance storyline. It kind of took a lot of mystery about the book out of it. My opinion only, but a warm filled Christmas story!I
At the beginning of this story, I began to wonder if it was what I was hoping for. Then it took off and became such a light and fun read. Everything was there. Fun, love, mystery, and a happy ending. A tree farm? What a different setting and love lost and found through out so fun.
Kate is a local television host who tries her hand at different professions for television. A chance fortnight at a Yuletide farm changes her life. Meeting Deacon and discovering the power of traditions gives her a chance to feel the power of roots and a life close to nature. Though both of them have trust issues, it is the season to rediscover what really matters.
