I found this book a comfort when I first heard I was being made redundant, but the slowly-slowly approach meant that I’d moved forward long before the book had.
This book really helped me through my journey post redundancy. I love Eleanor's voice and her no-no sense but still nurturing approach. She really encouraged me to actually take this time to think about what I really wanted from my career rather than jumping straight into something just like my last job. It's also a great resource to help you figure out what you want and what you need. These things don't always match up and sometimes you have to prioritise need over want. But Eleanor reassures you that decision is one you're wedded to forever - it's a great book with questions and prompts to keep coming back to, to help guide your career and life journey.
Everyone's journey to re-employment is different. The author Eleanor Tweddel developed 5-step plan how to overcome the loss of your job and find new opportunities.
Very motivating and optimistic guide, full of support and new ideas how to find new job and finally to better know yourself and what is important to you.
Essential in these epidemic times, when many jobs are on stake.
A good book containing a handful of useful advices and directions to follow. Perhaps not all of them are new or original however the author did a good job in putting them together and presenting them in a way that is simple to understand and follow. It is a good read for getting out of the difficult situation of loosing you job.
Downloaded this book when I was in a different employment position than I am now. However, still found several aspects of it very interesting and informative for where I am now. I have very much avoided self improvement books until now thinking that I don’t need them but am starting to branch out a little, definitely a good book either way when it comes to finding value in yourself irrespective of professional status.
With so many post redundancy thoughts rumbling around in my head, I came across this book, and definitely a great read and reflections that have helped my mindset (both current and whatever is to come).
