Just the series I needed.

Dylan’s book started with me thinking, “huh. What a coincidence. My bus sister really wants me to move to Colorado to be closer. I can totally relate to his journey.” And I loved the book. Then Garrett’s book started and I though, “damn. My dad just passed suddenly, too, and I can totally relate to his journey.” And I loved the book. And then Cole’s book started and I though, “Oh, my, my husband and I have struggles with fertility for the past 2.5 years. I can completely relate to Cole and Julia.” And I loved the book.
Now...still no baby, but Michael and Brooke make me hope for twins. And I loved their book. But Tristan and Anna’s story gives me hope and light that beautiful things can happen if we give them enough time. This was exactly the series I needed to read right now. I wish I could go back and read them again for the first time, they were that good.

Dylan - When his life feels like it has been at a stand still and with a new job on the Dylan moves away from his family and starts a new job a few states away. Kat is used to relying on no one and being a child in the foster system growing up has left her not really understanding or being comfortable with family dynamics and friendship. So when a spark is felt the two embark on a friends with benefits relationship. Unfortunately when that grows to so much more, Kat backs away and ends things. Can Dylan win her back and have her understand he is in this for the long haul? Or will the feelings of being left behind be the only thing Kat can rely on? With emotions that run deeper than the page they are written on this was a great read. I cannot wait for the next bachelor to get his HEA.

Garrett - Stuck between a rock and a hard place Garrett finds himself hating the woman who is his father's protégé while at the same time lusting after her. So when his father dies unexpectedly he has no choice but to work closely with Rory. Will she continue to feel he is an entitled prince? Or will she finally see him as the determined and hard worker he now chooses to be? There were many levels of pain in this story and Karla Sorenson dealt with them in an true and honest fashion. Not everyone loves what they are doing until they find an inner peace with why they were placed there. Finding love at the same time only makes the deal a little sweeter.

Cole - This story was awesome. Julia and Cole go through hell and back to reunite after six years apart. With the black cloud of infertility hanging over their heads, Julia walked away only to come back to find that Cole never really moved on. Their journey to reuniting could not have been written any better. This heartwarming story is a must read that I highly recommend.

Michael - Single mother Brooke always enjoyed hanging with her sister’s husbands friends. It was always like one big family group. But when Michael and Brooke start having feelings for each other the dynamics of the group change. Will this be the end of a friendship and the beginnings of their own HEA or will the relationship end because Brooke’s baby daddy comes back? With beautiful characters and another well written storyline this is another great read from Karla Sorensen.

Tristan - Being in love with a woman that he could never have, Tristan needed to move on but couldn’t. Anna has been in loveless marriage for years. When their paths finally connect on a job after she has filed for divorce Tristan is afraid to move too fast. But will Anna find love using a computer app or will Tristan finally get his day in the sun? This book from the opening pages was an emotional journey, not only for the characters but for the reader as well. Karla Sorensen has such a beautiful way to create honest and heartwarming characters that is simply amazing. This entire series has been fabulous and I am so sad to see it end, but she saved the best for last.

Overall, this was classic Karla Sorenson. As to be expected, I liked some of these more than others, so below is a breakdown, in order. Short version: Michael was the best, followed very closely by Tristan (who just made my heart ache) and the others all tied for third.

Dylan - so my issue here was Kat. She had a lot of very serious hang-ups that made her act pretty erratically and the only explanation for it is "she was in foster care." I thought Kat deserved a bit more background so that her feelings and actions made more sense.

Garrett - I liked this one much better. Aurora was a great heroine and I liked their banter. The romance was entertaining and I thought the plot was decent. Aurora losing her mind over something said in anger at the end was little much, but overall this was good.

Cole - This was decent. I could not really relate to the main plot conflict, but I thought it was handled respectfully. I did want to scream at Julia a few times and really enjoyed the scene where Tristan calls her out on her behavior and why he doesn't trust her with Cole.

Michael - This one was my favorite. Brooke was a great heroine and someone people can really relate to in that she's just trying to hold it all together. Michael was an interesting hero and I liked how the "real" guy wasn't exactly who you'd been led to believe. I also thought their big fight/drama at the end was something that could DEFINITELY happen when people have all sorts of misperceptions and let those get the best of them.

Tristan - Tristan, Tristan, Tristan. I was dying for this book because of how his story with Anna was teed up over the other books. I just wanted to scream at her DATE THIS GUY! When he finally tells her how he feels in the workshop it was soooooo good and Anna's reaction felt honest. I almost fist-pumped in public when she went back into the workshop rather than run away. It got a little redundant with the "I'm so in love with you but can't tell you" moments, but that complaint is minor.

Every word was worth waiting for

The last book in the series was well worth the wait. After subtle hints in book 1 and then more certainty throughout the rest of the series- I was more than ready to see what happens with Tristen and Anna. Tristen is a breath of fresh air. It would be a huge mistake to interpret his introverted nature for indifference or shallowness. No, this man is deep and passionate and loves in fierce nuance until Anna finally embraces what she’s always craved - someone to love her in all her sides and imperfections. I love their story; the best of the series.

The truest form of happiness.....fabulous boxset and a must read!

Absolutely fantastic read. These were the first books I’ve read from this author and I’m hooked. Her writing is excellent and the characters she created stole my heart. Every one of these gorgeous bachelors and their strong women gave me deep feels, and their journeys were exciting to witness.

The build up for each story was really good, loved them all. Tristan’s story was my favorite, but they all were good.

Read (though skimmed Garrett's story) in 2024 (7/25-9/16) but marked individual books as read for a more accurate 2024 count. 😁
