MAC THINKS THE ATTRACTION BETWEEN HER AND BOSTON IS MERELY PHYSICAL. SO WHY DOES IT FEEL IMPOSSIBLE TO LET HIM GO?

If you had met me before this week, you’d have thought I was one of the most responsible, play-it-safe human beings on the planet. You’d have assumed someone juggling three jobs and managing her own business wouldn’t even have the time to get involved in messy relationships.

That’s what I thought, too.

I was wrong.

This week, I met Boston. He wears the ripped, shaggy-haired, and adorable look like he was born that way. I’m game for some harmless flirting, maybe a little more, and he definitely doesn’t have any objections. Why deny the obvious spark we have?

Because that’s all it is: a spark. The sooner I can enjoy a taste of Boston’s lean, chiseled body, the sooner this silly infatuation of mine will be over.

Then I’ll be safe.

Except that kissing Boston doesn’t snuff out that spark. Not the first time, or the second, or the third.

Instead of satisfying my curiosity, I want to know about him: why he’s dropped everything to help out his family, why he has a way of calming tense situations down, why I can’t get enough of his smile.

Why he’s making me question everything I thought I wanted.

Why I can’t stay away...

18+ due to mature content.

It is funny that a small novella of 158 pages took so much time to finish the book.
Boston has an exciting premise: the male main character, Boston, is a caring man many women would love to have as a partner.
It is also very refreshing to have a love story without the third act break up, maybe because it is a novella, but simultaneously, it makes the story coherent.
Mac has a lot of downfalls in her life and tries to keep up with three jobs on her own, restoring old furniture. While she grieves her parents and brother's loss, she is a powerful woman who is willing to give love and Boston a chance.
Even though I initially wanted to DNF the book, at the halfway point of the novella, I got hooked and decided I had to finish the story. I don't think I will continue with the series, if the series had audiobooks I might continue with series one day.

Wow, I honestly don’t know where to start with this book. I love everything about it. Mac is really a handful of a woman that is trying to find her way in life. Boston on the other hand has seen so much and came to look after family. As luck would have it the two of them together is golden. I love that she is outspoken and not afraid to go after what she wants. Also, love how Boston is always their when Mac less expects him to be. Most of all I love the growth Mac has gone through this story. It just take they story to new heights.

"When I look into your eyes, I lose myself in the fury of autumn leaves sliding just out of my grasp. I'm arrested by the dread that they're always fleeing. Fleeting. Maybe our season ends in one blink and I never see them again. These autumn eyes haunt me with possibilities."

After reading words like that, it seems like a very great book coming. But it fell short for me. It's hard to sell insta-love stories. We pretty much know nothing about Boston. Nothing at all. No character development. Also, their first kiss came out of nowhere. There was no build up to that kiss, no angst. There is also no build up to the love developing or their relationship.

A new author for me and I was pleasantly surprised and found a new author I will look out for. This story is about Boston and Mac. Mac had just had a loss and is lost herself and doing her best to figure out her life. The very last thing she is looking for is a relationship, just someone to take care of a girl’s needs. Boston comes to town to help out a family member and he is immediately attracted to Mac. The chemistry between shines brightly but their HEA is u determined as they deal with all the twists and turns that comes their way. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book from HiddenGems and purchased a copy as well

Mac and Boston were quite the unexpected couple. The beginning of this story was a bit confusing introducing all of the characters but once I made it through I was hooked.
Mac has had a hard life, she lost her whole family and was trying to live a normal life in a very small town and trying to prove to those who cared and knew her story that she was okay.
Boston gave her a chance to escape the mask and heal a bit.

This was a sweet story full of emotions. I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving this review.

It was a good read and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

New(ish) author to me. I always struggle with insta-love stories but this one was cute - but took a bit to get into the rhythm. Mac is a tough girl - but extremely likable in her journey. While Boston - he was just a hunky solid guy - who kinda rang true but didn't fully get me across the line.

I will definitely be reading more of R.V. Asher's work though - there's a wonderful vividness to the writing and characters that I reckon is top notch.

She's trying to build a future, he is trying to save family. Neither expected the other. Will she be able to look past his family to give him a chance?

Have to say this book took a turn, I wasn't expected with how they are connected. I didn't blame her for wanting to come out of her families shadow. I loved how he was determined to prove himself to her. I did feel like this book could have gone a little longer with building the relationship, but overall loved it.

This story was just gaining traction when… it was over. There are a lot of dramatic things going on here, gut-wrenching stuff that the story just doesn’t do justice to because a) it’s short and b) it’s focused on sex. It badly needed Boston’s point of view (it’s told entirely in Mac’s), there were too many times when she was putting *his* feelings into words. That said, this author really has a way with words and it could be a very powerful story if told in a fuller way.

Thanks to Booksprout for a copy of this book.

This was a heartfelt, bittersweet book with a good, simple plot and characters that had me rooting for them the entire time. Although we don't get to learn a lot about Boston, who had a pretty vague backstory, I still liked him. He had this calm strength and an assertive vibe about him that was pretty damn attractive.

The emotions in this story were strong and definitely worked to keep me interested in Mac's life.

Boston: Book 1 of Summer Nights in Last Call by R.V. Asher. Great start to a new series filled with heart, heat, and HFN. This story really packed a punch for me, dealing with topics that carry heavy emotion such as domestic abuse and drug use. Mac and Boston made a great couple with intense chemistry and easy banter. I enjoyed their story and look forward to more from this series and author. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I totally fell in love with Boston and Mac. The plot was good despite being short. It left me wanting more! I felt the chemistry between Mac and Boston was there. I loved how Mac sort of “grew up” towards the end. I love this author’s writing style. I can’t wait for book 2.

Mac and Boston had beautiful chemistry, and though the story was short, I feel it's exactly how long was needed to tell the story. Any longer, and it could have fallen flat or gone stale. So its length was perfect. There were some emotional twists I didn't see coming. I was cheering for the characters from the very start.

It took a few chapters for me to become immersed into this story but once I did, I didn’t want to stop reading. The characters are beautifully flawed and that allowed me to connect with them and their drama. I enjoyed their story and hope to read more.

short novella

It’s got good bones which is why I have it 4 ⭐️ but o just feel it could’ve been even better if there was more of past immersive insight to her battles with her losses and other than one scene with her friend there wasn’t any more depth there felt that it was weird to not see her.

Unrealistic

This imitates a Hallmark movie about second chances. It's as deep as a puddle. Instead of getting to know each other and building a foundation, there are bold declarations made. Boston is a reader. Boston is a peacemaker. Mac is a mack truck. I wish addicts were that easy to save and heal.

Short and sweet. This book has a lot of emotions. It's insta love but it also deals with grief, depression, healing, figuring out what the FMC wants in her life and starting over. It's good. It's a quick read with heavy topics. I enjoyed it.

If you like quick reads with insta love romance and cute and likable characters, you'll definitely enjoy this. 😉💕

This was my first read from this author. I really loved the first person point of view of the story. This is a deal breaker for me. This was one big rollercoaster. I really liked the story.

Boston comes to town to help his cousin when he meets Mackenzie they have an instant attraction. Mackenzie is guarded an won’t let people get close to her but Boston doesn’t give up. I enjoyed the story but felt it ended abruptly could have been more to the story

Short and sweet. Hot and heavy. Lots of feels. Lots of emotion. A stable H to steady the h as she is on her own.
