USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
These daily serial sets are always enjoyable. In this one, Mallory Green is working three jobs to take care of the bills she has amassed with her husband. She thinks she finally has caught a break. But things don’t quite go as she thought they would.
I like the balance of formulaic, yet ambiguous this series follows for me. I feel pretty confident in predicting the broad strokes of the story, but the specifics still keep me on my toes. So I end up feeling like a moderately accurate weatherman since I'm technically right. It's a good balance of making me feel smart without going too far and getting bored by predictability.
In this book, my predictions were correct regarding the identity of Mallorie's stalker, and that the book would end with a ray of hope that would still cause emotional turmoil in the short term.
Despite my predictions, the way things played out still surprised me and the author's writing has a way of really immersing me in the scene. I fully expect this series to end on a very high note, but I can't wait to see how everything is resolved.
This is part 4 of 6 part daily serial, part four is October.
Loving the concept of this daily serial, in LOTTERY GIRL, a young woman (Mallory) who's unlucky in life, in love, and in fortune hits the jackpot! But can money truly buy happiness?
I'm very much enjoying Lottery Girl so far, there’s plenty of drama and entertaining moments. But one thing is for sure, if you win the lottery do not follow in Mallory footsteps, I can’t believe how naive and gullible she is. But then I guess if she wasn’t those things, this wouldn’t be the entertaining story that it is.
I do love that they are short, quick reads, heading straight into part 5 which is the month of November.
I'm a big fan of Stephanie's serials, and this one leaves you screaming the the main character, Mallory. If any bad thing could happen, it happens to her, nothing good has happened thus far. If one good thing happens, it's followed by three bad, so you don't see the good. I'm hanging on, hoping something turns around for her.
I would recommend this serial, and love Stephanie Bond's writing.
Lottery Girl is a daily serial that comes in monthly installments. Book 4 is the month of October in the life of Mallory Green who wins the lottery. It is kind of a soap opera with Mallory's relationships with her soon to be ex husband, friends, and relatives. Mallory is an interesting character but she is overwhelmed and unprepared to handle the sudden fame and demands of being a lottery winner. It is fun to watch the serial unfold every day.
I really like this author and her writing style. These daily serials are so fun to read. Although Mallory isn’t my favorite character she has written, I definitely appreciate the lessons to learn as the story evolves. I’m hooked through the end and just hope all works out for Mallory. She deserves it.
I wish Mallory was quite so, I don't know, gullable. She lets people walk all over her. Who would let someone steal our of their purse and be like " oh well, it's only a twenty". That par was kind of annoying but other than that, pretty good. I have to admit, every one of her past series has been much much better.
I was looking for something with a happy ending. Especially with the times with live in with so many struggling. It was a nice fantasy, where the good won for a change.
I am awaiting November 1st to read the fifth book of Lottery Girl these books are so enjoyable I started to read Comeback Girl in the meantime!! I am so glad I found this author she brings a smile to my face in every book!!
Yet another twist to the story. Lottery adventures are all they're cracked up to be. It is a twisted path marked by her generosity and the freed of others.
Good story, but I admit that I wish things had gone differently for my own reasons not because it would have made the story better. I usually warm up to new people but I must be a lot like Mallory and don't know who to trust because I am not sure I like the new character!
The frustration in Mallory is real-lol, I personally think Stephanie Bond is going to work her magic in Part 5 & 6. Been reading her books for years and one thing I will say never under estimate her writing mind, she likes to throw those curve balls near the end. So...still loving this daily serial, Mallory needs to really look at Josh, still not sure what Ryan's intentions are and my thoughts on Mallory "sister" are up in the air.
