This one.. was hard for me to write a review because everyone in this story was a douche... i haven't hated or disliked a jessa kane book so badly.. this was not romance..
Disliked how they wanted to change how Cate talked she doesnt gave good speaking skills.. 😡😡😡. At first Tristan wanted it changed until he spent more time with cate he got mad when she lost her accent...And on top of that TRISTAN WAS douche to me.. he wanted her but his career his campaign came first. his dad talking about that. They had tension and taboo.. and he kept going wishy washy.. and when he finally has the balls to say i want to go public and told a reporter.. CATE LIKE NO YOUR RUN FOR PREZ!!! And she was im ok being a secert.. the Epilogue is the one that pissed me off so much THEY HAD A DAUGHTER TOGETHER!! THEY SAID SHE WAS artificial....😡😡😡😡😡 and the last para he finally got the secert out and kissed Cate in fkng of the world he was done being president... THIS WAS UGH

This could've been deliriously taboo but it left abad taste in my mouth.
1) first of all the h was painted as almost a female Tarzan....but she had some schooling?!! How does it make sense that she went to high school but is like an alien on an entirely new planet in the city??
2) the h had a heavy accent, her mother, step father and the H decide to give her a makeover before presenting her to the public, this makeover includes speech and etiquette lessons. It works so well she's nothing like the barefoot, free urchin that they found. At her change the H is pissed......but um sir didn't you too want her polished a bit before presenting her to your adoring public??
3) the H/h embark on a secret sexual relationship but she gets hurt as his father points out that she'll ALWAYS have to be his secret due to his career. The H then pulls in a reporter and confesses she's the love of his life.....beautiful right???? Wrong!!!! The h then decides that the mere fact that he's willing to claim her is good enough so she urges him to let the secret remain.
4) And this was the fucked up cherry on the Fucking Sundae.....we get TWO epilogues with him STILL KEEPING HER A SECRET!!!!! They EVEN had a child!!!! I think it was 12 years later at the end of his final term as president that he finally kisses her in public.....with his child.....who he never acknowledged as his child!!!! ROMANCE????? Where??? This result irritated the bejesus outta me I'll tell ya that!!! My second bust for the new year but my first 1 star.

This definitely reminded me of Commander-in-Chief and Mr. President by Katy Evans, which is one of my favorite books! I didn’t like that he kept her a secret for so many years. I know it was in the title, but they had a child. How cruel would it be to never be able to hug or acknowledge your father in public, even if he is the president.
Cate was sweet, but a bit one-sided and a totally pushover. Tristin was a very unique character, but I think that he could have been way better.
Overall, this novella was super hot, but very shallow.

Ok politicians creep me out but I decided to give it a chance as JK makes some good smut. Sexy governor falls for his nubile stepsister, enlists in an elicit affair with her and they have wild coitus. The sex scenes were kinky with DD/LG elements, and well written but I was quite disappointed that the hero kept her AND his child (eventually) a dirty little secret for his career. Not a HEA for me.

solid 4-star romance up until they kept their relationship secret for 12 years (including the fact that they had a child together for five of those years, which must affect a kid pretty negatively growing up knowing her father didn't acknowledge her publicly until she was 5yo).
i had to deduct 2 stars for that kind of ending, since 12 years of secrecy and sneaking around isn't my idea of a good relationship.
apparently they also felt like they could only be together in a panic room, as if the president doesn't have private rooms in the white house ?? it bothered me that someone as free and wild as the heroine would tolerate only being with her man in a closed off concrete space with no windows.
it was a huge overreaction to keep their relationship secret just because he was president for 8 years. if the US can have a president who's friends with pedophiles and openly supports nazis without him being kicked the fuck out of the white house, im pretty sure the hero and heroine could've announced their not-actually-illegal relationship without any actual consequences.
(sidenote: he chose to run for president TWICE in a row?? wow, okay, personally i'd be fucking fine with just four years as president if it meant the woman i love wouldn't have to wait around for another four years but that's just me).

This one..was disappointing and i was kind of bothered by it..
First of all since when if you don't finish high school you are incult and out of this world?not knowing a thing about life? it's not like she leaved school at 12 years old lol , this thing made it unbelievable for me.

NO ONE reads Jessa Kane books for the stories. They’re all straight up word porn. Anyone who says they do is like a guy saying he reads Playboy for the articles. If this is your first JK read, then you’re in for an education in alpha dominance, over-eager virgins, and bossy sex that’s taboo, animalistic, and full of demeaning sex talk. Don’t be a prude or get testy about the lack of female empowerment or projecting your values on these FICTIONAL chicklets that will do anything to please their man. Look elsewhere for deep drama and poignant romance.
Governor Tristan Garner (30) is all about his image and running for President, but has no self-control when he meets his new stepsister by marriage straight from the bayou. Cate’s (18) a walking sex dream, but undergoes a My Fair Lady-style makeover to be presentable for the press, even though Tristan likes her as-is. She simply knocks his world sideways and he fights hard to avoid temptation until he can’t wait any longer. Then, it’s game on with hot, raw, passionate beast-mode sex and neither comes up for air for the rest of the book.

Readers either like these books or they don’t. It isn’t fair to mischaracterize what actually happens in a book or judge it based on not playing out one’s own personal preferences, by projecting those feelings on the characters. This couple loved each other, they had an unconventional romance with an unusal twist and made it believable in the context of the book. All JK’s books are the same basic blueprint, very sexual, and superficial -- just a different situation, like this one. They’re a great read for a horny mood, but if you’re not onboard the “daddy” train, and think controlling alphas who say demeaning things as dirty talk are offensive – especially since the eager virgins dig it – then look elsewhere. I ignore the parts that don’t appeal to me, and enjoy the parts that do. I read these books occasionally as mindless entertainment to clear out the cobwebs and take a break from angsty romance. The writing and story are average, and that’s my rating. No big deal.

Let me start this by saying I love Jessa Kane. I give all of her books 5 stars because the really always hit the mark for me. But my big issue with this is the same that many people had. They hid their relationship for 12 years. The had a child which they planned and said it was artificial insemination. I understand she wanted him to be president and wanted the truth to be out there but I feel like he made his career more important than everything else. I promised myself I would never be second to someone’s career and seeing someone in love the way Cate was settle was disappointing. But everything else baby it gave me all the feels.

In this one, we have a politician on the rising fucking his stepsister... yeah, I know. With the upcoming USA election, I fear what kind of books in progress happening right now. Last time this happened, Katy Evans bestowed on us her version of alternate reality in Mr. President series. Is it wrong to feel excited? Haha.
P.s. what's with the abundance of pseudo incest coming out lately? Or maybe it's just the people I'm following that are so nasty *wink wink*?

Tristan (governor aka daddy) and Cate (backwoods garden nymph) meet up for fireworks. Oh, and her mom is married to his dad. No biggie. Poor little Tristan tries his hardest to resist the innocent virgin, but alas, some things are impossible. Tristan totally made this book. Thank you. Definitely reading this one again.... multiple times.

Stepbrother’s Secret by Jessa Kane
HERO - Tristan Garner. Governor of Connecticut. Dark brown hair and forest green eyes.
HEROINE - Cate Worthington. Long, blonde hair and wide blue eyes. Tanned skin. Strong southern accent.
OVERALL THOUGHTS - First, I want to point out that while our hero, Tristan, is in politics, the book itself does NOT contain anything political. Phew! Nobody needs that in a romance novel, am I right?
Hmm...what to say about this one? I liked it, but it wasn’t my favorite. There’s some push/pull on the part of the hero, but not annoyingly so. The sex was off the charts hot, as is to be expected when we’re talking about a Jessa Kane book. The whole thing is well-written and the characters have depth and are relatable. I didn’t get bored reading it and I didn’t feel it dragged anywhere. There’s nothing really wrong with it. I just wasn’t blown away.
I guess it’s partially to do with the stepbrother thing. I just don’t find two step-siblings who meet and fall in love as adults to be scandalous. So the fact that this whole book revolves around the opposite - that it is, in fact, scandalous - meant that I couldn’t really get on board. It meant that the epilogue was more sad to me than anything . Nobody needs that in a romance novel, either.
I’m conflicted on how to rate it. On the one hand, it left me feeling bummed about their situation, but on the other hand it’s well-written and I feel that deserves credit. Because of the latter, I’m going with 4 stars, but it won’t be going on my favorites shelf.

Sneaking around
Tristan is running for governor again when he finds out that his stepsistre has been living alone after her father died without money or help. He brings her back North and helps clean her up so she can come out into society as a respectable young woman and his stepsister. I'm not sure I'm a real fan of him keeping their relationship a secret got so long.

Wow!!! This is not my first time around these Jessa Kane streets. I was fully prepared for the unhinged stepbrother/stepsister romantic relationship. But what I wasn't prepared for was the wholesomeness and blushing I was going to do while reading this book. This was the first time while reading a Jessa Kane book that I felt feelings other than a quick smutt fix and a good laugh. I loved this story so much! My favorite book by her to date.
