Natalia Lourose writes angsty romance about broken people figuring out life and finding love along the way. Television and far too much smut as a teenager left her obsessed with dark-haired bad boys who are moody and wear leather jackets. Tucked away in her writing nook with a dog at her feet, two cats on her keyboard, and husband yelling at the computer – she is always writing something, or trying to.

She loves interacting with fans and fellow book lovers on social media!

I hated this book.

Disclaimer: this book is NOT safe. Their relationship includes voyeurism, and sharing - she is intimate with his three most trusted “friends” and gives them blowjobs. I was definitely thrown off because when I intended to read this book, it was with the understanding that it would include a possessive hero and an exclusive couple. Definitely misleading from some reviewers; you can like the book but be honest about the subject matter.

Her fiancé is currently on trial for the death of her younger sister who fell off the cliff on his property. The “mystery” was whimsical and cheap at best. I knew exactly what happened at 20% when we found out she was blackout drunk that night.

It’s repetitive and cringey. We alternate between past and present. The dialogue was hard to digest as a reader. “Baby, baby, baby” “trust me, trust me, trust me”.

Why is her fiancé on trial? There’s no evidence incriminating him? Did they interview other attendees of the party? What kind of murder is he on trial for - first degree premeditated? You can tell the writer doesn’t know her shit.

It’s just completely ridiculous.

Very superficial. It’s the ✨I’m different from other girls✨ because I wear ripped jeans and sneakers instead of dresses and heels. Upon the first meeting, she assumes he’s a rich asshole but when he takes her to his favourite spot on his property which overlooks the skyline and town, suddenly she’s all 🤩 “you’re so much deeper than I anticipated”. Next flashback, they’re announcing their engagement.

In the present day, it’s all about their sexual responses to one another. There’s no emotional depth or connection there. She’s either crying in bed, having sex with him or smoking weed. She has little depth. Same goes for him.

She’s consistently telling us he’s rich and she’s middle class. She still sounds privileged and disassociated from reality. Shallow shallow characterisation, and tbfh she should be ashamed because she failed her sister. I said it. No take backs.

I don’t know how to explain the disdain other than none of the information we are told as readers is substantiated by anything tangible. I still don’t have a proper understanding of either character, and what I know, I don’t like. So it was a terrible book for me all round which annoys me because this is the first book I’ve had a chance to read in a while.

First, I'm happy because my theories turned out to be true regarding the "murderer" but what left me 🤯 was what really happened and how it all happened and that ending I really did not expect.

Primero que nada estoy feliz por que mis teorías si resultaron ser ciertas con respecto al "asesino" pero lo que me dejó 🤯 fue lo que en verdad pasó y como fue que sucedió todo y ese final la verdad no me lo esperaba.

What a gripping, edgy, UNIQUE story this was. Natalia Lourose brings readers a dark and twisty tale that will keep them guessing the whole way through. Mikaela and Noah are two people caught between love and hate, irrevocably tied together by a tragic night that changed both of their lives.

The author did such a superb job with this storyline, laying out information like breadcrumbs for the reader to follow as they try to work through the clues. I loved the ambiguity surrounding certain characters. It created a layer of uncertainty and doubt that had me hanging on to every word. The small passages we were given from the past just added another layer of intrigue to the story and I really enjoyed the way the plot flowed as a whole.

There were some very steamy scenes that showcased the bond between Noah and Mikaela, and some great emotional confrontations between them as well. The twists at the end were so well executed. I only wish that there was an epilogue, because I would have loved to read a bit about Mik and Noah and how they were after the fallout died down. I loved everything about this story and I especially loved that it was so far from the standard cookie-cutter romances out there. Five huge stars.

She could devastate him.
She could set his entire world on fire.
She could be the one to save him.

He doesn’t lose.
He doesn’t compromise.
He could be the one to save her.

This book just gripped me from page one.
I could not put it down and I will be passionately recommending it.
The passion that could not be concealed, the pain so strong and the heart so shattered that it almost tore them apart forever…hope, reliance, love, always love.

I hope you decide to treat yourself with this beauty.

"She's not better without me, and I'm not good without her.
So we're stuck together, and we're fucking dead apart."

Well dang.

“𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚. 𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙗𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚. 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙, 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙩, 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚. 𝘿𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙚𝙩, 𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙮?”

The blurb dragged me in, but I stayed for the story. By chapter two, I was so invested that I kept getting weird looks from my spouse while I made grumbling noises.
One single night changed the entire course of Mikaela’s life, right alongside Noah’s. However, what she cant remember, he can’t forget.
One night, one party, one dead girl.
A dash of mystery, a whole lot of hotness, just the right amount of crazy. I loved it all.

(Thank you Peachy Keen and the author Natalia Lourose for the eARC in exchange for a spoiler free review)

3 stars!

Please check trigger warnings before reading.

This was my second ARC from Natalia and for that I’m grateful!

This book is a re-release that features changes to the original book. I did not read the original book so I am not able to compare a before and after.

I liked how this book wasn’t just about a couple who are intertwined with their love and animosity for each other but it had the thriller/suspense aspect to it. Reading toxic relationships teaches you more too, right? Have no doubt that Mikaela and Noah are indeed toxic for each other.

This book showed how mental health is important especially if you’re in a relationship/environment that isn’t good for you. My mental health isn’t doing good now and reading this gave me another perspective.

Because I know they’re toxic for one another as a reader it was a little difficult to empathise or agree with Mikaela’s actions. I couldn’t understand the relationship dynamics between herself and Noah.

A good aspect that I must highlight though is that the plot was fast paced so that kept my interest in the book.

Overall, this is still a book that’s worth reading!

Natalia Is a new to me author and I’m asking myself “why the heck haven’t I read her books before now?”. Cause damn! This book was amazing!
.
Right off the bat, the suspense and mystery had me sucked in. I hadn’t read the blurb before diving in so I was unsure of what to expect. And I think that made the experience of reading the book so much better. It was captivating, you couldn’t help but be consumed by the book. I could not put it down. I flew through this because it was that damn good.
.
The characters were amazing, relatable, engaging and their hidden layers was great to peel back the deeper in the book you got. I thought i wouldn’t connect with Mik as much as I did. It took a bit, I think it wasn’t until maybe the 5th or so chapter that I started connecting with her. I think it was just me, as to why I didn’t sooner but when I did the story elevated. It made the emotions all the more tangible and I loved the roller coaster ride.
.
Noah, not gonna lie is my new favourite. I don’t know what it says about me that I loved his obsessive, possessive and somewhat crazy ass but I do. I’m here for it and I want more. Both of the characters were effected in more ways then one on one particular night. It was amazing to see them navigate through a tangled web, unraveling the mystery and bringing to light secrets. The title is apt for this book. I have loved every second of this ride.
.
I’m looking forward to seeing what Natalie has coming next. This was such a masterpiece. A beautifully written dark romantic suspense that will have you at the edge of your seat.

''You are mine. You've always been mine. You will always be mine. Mine to hold, mine to hurt, mine to hold, mine to love. Do you get that, baby?''
Unexpected but pleasant. One of my best reads in 2020.
Wow. I've just finished shattered and I have no words. First of all thank you so much to the author and books &moods PR for letting me read this early. I usually don't sign up for arcs because i don't have time, but this one was my most anticipated review of October and I'm so grateful that I got to read it earlier.
When I read the blurb, I was hooked. I love dark-mysterious romances because they are addicting and this book definitely was. I don't want to spoil it to you because it's best to go blind into this book and not knowing what it is about. Believe me. You'll read the first chapter, and you won't stop reading it, because since the beginning you will be intrigued with the story and the characters.
Speaking of which, I usually have a hard time connecting with them, but our main heroine.. she is amazing. I love her being inside her head, feeling her feelings, her insecurities and her love. The guy is..dark. He is your typical damaged and dark hero, but honestly I loved him. He was mysterious, a little bit weird ,and sometimes the angst between the two of them was too much, buy oh my, how I enjoyed this book and the relationship. It was complicated but I was rooting for them since the beginning, and usually I don't get the same feeling with other couples.
The writing is really good, I'm surprised because I've never heard of this author before but after this book, I want to read her whole backlist because she has talent and I love how she develops the stories and the way she writes darker characters.
Overall this was the top on cherry for my reading experience so far this year. I cried, I laughed (not as much as crying but you know), I got the chills reading this book and I can't stop thinking about it.
I highly recommend you this book because it won't disappoint and if you love romances with a twist, a little bit of mystery and thrill, this one is for you.
This is definitely the perfect October-Halloween read for romance lovers!.
Disclaimer: I got an early copy of this book thanks to the author and Books and moods PR, but all the opinions are my own and they are honest.

The wealthy heir Noah and the average girl without great ambitions Mikaela are connected not only by a relationship, but one bloody detail — the death of the latter's sister. The main suspect? Her fiancé.

From the very beginning, we are thrown into a whirlwind of events, constantly switching to different timelines of the story. I'll be honest, sometimes it was difficult to follow everything, but the desire to unravel the mystery pushed me forward.

The relationship of the main couple was quite confusing to me, their feelings on the edge of love and hate most of the time appeared to be some kind of indifference to each other, even despite the pathetic phrases and happy memories. To me, they resembled two drowning people trying to save each other, but instead both successfully ending up drowned in a sea of lies and misunderstandings.

Nevertheless, the suspense was just great: I love books where I don't need to turn on my head and where we don't beat around the bush for an eternity of time. "Shattered" is really fast-paced and entertaining, I felt like I was a fish, skillfully falling on the author's bait.

Thank you Peachy Keen and Natalia Lourose for an eARC in exange for a spoiler free review.

"She's not better without me, and I'm not good without her.
So we're stuck together, and we're fucking dead apart."

When I came across this blurb, I knew I was a goner.

And rightfully so. Shattered is a tale of girl named Mikaela who can't remember the events of one dreadful night.
That night she lost somebody dear to her, her younger sister. And the police is after her boyfriend. He says he didn't do it, and she can't remember a thing. Noah and his family are rich, so nobody trusts his inocence. The confusing part is, she's still with him.
She has doubts, but she also trusts him.

This is where this author blew me away. She mastered the plot to a single detail. Some things are plainly obvious, but also nothing is as it seems. Her storytelling is gripping. Once I started reading she had me in her clutches, and I couldn't let go. The characters, especialy Mik and Noah were amazing. I liked them right away, they were all consuming and completely addictive.

I can't recomend this book enough! The truth will shatter you.

Halloween 2019 should have been one of best nights of Mikaela’s life, but her sister ends up murdered and Mik can’t remember a thing. The real kicker? Her boyfriend Noah is the prime suspect, and he’s got one hell of a secret.

I was hooked from the moment I saw the blurb for Shattered, and am happy to say that it surpassed all of my expectations. If you’re looking for a book full of intrigue, steam, and juicy secrets... Shattered is for you!

This story pulls you in from the very first word, and will not let you go until the very last word. There is so much mystery, love, angst, twists, turns, steam - this book has it all!

Definitely dark but oh so delicious. I did not see that ending coming, at all.

An amazing mysterious, gripping love story. Kept me hooked from the start

“ He was my everything, my euphoria. And then he was nothing “

I was hooked from just the blurb itself, this book really intrigued and it did not disappoint. I’m so grateful i found Natalia Lourose and got to read this book early.
This story is not like any other love story I’ve read. It was creative and really interesting. So much mystery and angst, I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what happened and to find the truth.

I don’t want to say much about this story, I don’t want to spoil anything. I want you to go into this blind and experience it all the way i did. I highly recommend this story. The only problem i have is it wasnt longer. I’m not ready to say goodbye to this couple, i just want more and more from them. From their past and furture. Mikaela and Noah dynamic was incredible and definitely a couple I won’t forget. Two very complex, fascinating characters. They had an amazing mix of passion, secrets and darkness. I was captivated right off the bat with all the lies and mystery.

Lexi was a wild card, a misfit. She was far from perfect, battling against many obstacles and illnesses. Even before the everything happened. She was lost and messy and i just wanted to give her a hug. My heart broke for her throughout this book.
Noah on the other hand was different. He was outgoing and arrogant. I fell in love with him straight away, I definitely shouldn’t have but I can’t help it, i love a mysterious bad guy. Noah was also very different to any other male character I’ve read and i really enjoyed that. I don’t want to say anything else about him because again you just need to experience this blindly and go with the pages.. This was a different take on a love story, it will surprise you and keep you wanting more. I know I definitely do

Natalia Lourose is a new author to me and the blurb had me dying to read this book.
Shattered drew me in from the very beginning. There were so many questions about what was going on and the mystery of the storyline had me addicted.

But then things start to go a little down hill...
I personally found it a little repetitive and Noah seriously overuses the word baby. It might sound like I am being petty and picking at something small, but he uses it way too much. If my hubby said it that much, I would have told him to shutup.
For me personally, I felt like there was important information missing from the storyline.
The sharing scene? Where on earth did that come from. I just thought that was an incredibly random scene that didn't really belong in the book at all.
And then the big revelation of what actually happened to her sister came out, she was barely even effected. She was more affected and worried about what had happened to her sister earlier that night then how she died and the cause of it. It was just sorta like “meh, that happened. Let’s move on”.

Look, I did like this book to an extent. It definitely kept me reading right until the end BUT it just wasn't a five star read for me unfortunately.

This book would have received a one star rating but the ending sort of kinda saved it a bit. I liked the outcome of the person who causes all the problems. Other than that the book is not exciting and it drags a little. Also the heroine is one of my least favorite for not questioning more and just going along with whatever. The warning for this book needs to be disclosed properly.

Everyone who loves romance and suspense needs to pick this up, right now! 👏🏼 But warning you it's not your typical happy healthy relationship you normally read. It's messy and has some trigger warnings so take some precautions!

When I read the blurb I knew I had to sign up to read this and man oh man this is up on my top list of 2020 for best reads! 🤯

There was so much in this I didn't expect and I could not put it down. The suspense throughout was anticipating my insides! I held my breath in every suspenseful moments, the emotional trauma, and when the truth came out, it blew my mind to the extreme! 🤯

Mikaela and Noah both have something to fight, their demons. The story of how they met and to the present is a huge turn of events over that one night. They were in love, rebelious girl with issues engaged to a rich classy boy, but now faced with more issues.

Mikaela is a broken soul, shattered to pieces, told by Noah to trust her many times over when they're faced to the public eye. Noah is a villain in her story, not a shining armor to come to her rescue but really he's a hero in my eyes when you read to the end.

Noah's character kept me on edge, questioning his true feelings and ...intentions but how it ended and in his chapters, I loved him even more! 🥺🖤

This left me in such an emotional and shock wreck that I'm damned to get my hands on a physical copy! It's so worth to read, so very detailed, dark and angsty, twisted and painfully beautifully written! The feels was just so real ah I can't express it in any other way besides my reactions…😍😭😳

Thank you Natalia Lourose and Booksnmoods for this opportunity to read this digital arc for an honest review! 🙏🏻

By the time I finished reading Shattered, I had to find my Husbob & tell him how much my heart is aching & breaking. It affected me so much that I had trouble sleeping last night. I kept thinking about Noah, Mik & Auden.

Depression & Anxiety is real, do not mock it. Do not ridicule someone who is going through so much, when his/her feelings towards something (which might appear petty to some) is heightened. You do not know what you do/say, might break someone. If you can't heal them, just be there for them.

Having said that, Shattered covers so much about the above-mentioned as well as Trust + Betrayal + Unconditional Love. You wouldn't know who would move mountains for you. You wouldn't know how much the truth kills but this person, hides it from you because s/he doesn't have the heart to hurt you or lose you. But sometimes, your mind is so fucked up, it's so tainted and blurred; that you refuse to see the truth which is right under your nose.

Noah, you're God-sent. Eventhough I hated a part of what you did to Mik, I still feel that she doesn't deserve your love & kindness.
Auden, may the Angels accompany you with happiness, endlessly.
Mik, I'm sorry I couldn't go into my Kindle to offer you solace and relief your pain for you. But you're a fighter. Let the past and guilt go. You deserve to live, too.

💔😢💔😢💔😢

I'll recover from this soon. Thank you @natalialourose & @booksnmoods for sending me a copy that I didn't expect would break me and make me love/hate it. Lots of 🧡 from me. & Nat, sending you massive virtual xo.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ x just like how Callum Scott sings -
"I'd climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you
And fix what I've broken
Oh, 'cause I need you to see
That you are the reason"

Thank you, Noah, Mik & Auden. 😢

This book was just ok for me. I figured out who the murderer was around 20% in. Most of the time I can teeter between a couple of characters, but I was all in on who I thought it was. I was right. The scene with his best friends didn't seem to fit. I'm not sure what added purpose it had to the story. Don't get me wrong, while you're reading it you go...

but it felt just thrown in. Not to mention, the fiance is supposed to be possessive. Weird he would allow that.

Utterly gripping love story!

WOW! This was one intense and very gripping story. It completely captivated me, trapped me in its hooks and kept me on the edge of my seat biting my nails right to the very end.

Every chapter brought out more twists, more secrets and more mystery. My head was spinning with all of the conspiracies I was thinking up as I was reading.

This is one story that will shock you to the core and leave you breathless in the end.

I loved every second of this story! Highly recommend.

A dark enthralling love story that left me utterly shook!

Holy moly, what a roller coaster of a book this is. There's so many twists that caused my heart to race. From the moment I started this book, I knew I was a goner and there was no going back. This story had me trapped and I was obsessed. It's so heart wrenching but absolutely beautiful and just aah no words.

Mikaela struggles with trying to remember the horrible night of her sister's death while Noah wants to protect her from the truth as it could destroy her. Deep down behind the darkness and demons that threaten to consume him, he is a really protective but also loving guy who only wants the best for her.

Noah and Mikaela's dynamic is one of a kind. I felt their undeniable connection all the way and together they are pretty epic. It's like the world tries to tare them apart but they end up having a deeper bond throughout it all.

There was one scene that I could've been happier without but that's like a minor thing that didn't affect my love for this amazing book, it was just me being uncomfortable with it. Everything else is whoa phenomenal.

Most of the book I was gaping as these bits of twists kept brilliantly coming left and right, making me pretty much insane, in the best possible way. Wow the writing is simply incredible and beautiful. The way it catches your attention and totally captivates you is everything. I was completely mind blown!

Shattered will forever be imprinted on my mind and I wouldn't have it any other way!

First book I have read by Natalia Lourose. I have enjoyed reading this story between Mikaela and Noah.
This book is filled with so many darkness that I never expected the ending to end up like it did.
I loved Noah’s character and how he did everything to protect Mickaela from finding out the truth knowing it would kill her. I felt bad for him at times being seen as the bad guy when in all he was the protector.

Wow. I can't say I was expecting this. This book surpassed my expectations for miles. It's dark, painful and so fucking good. The snippets we got of that tragic night left me a nervous wreck, and the suspense was killing me, but it was so addicting. When I started reading it, I just couldn't put it down. Mik's dark, so full of pain and demons, a broken soul that just wants to be released. But Noah gets her, her demons. He thrives on her darkness, as well as her light. Their love can be toxic, dirty, but everything he does is for her, no matter how twisted or painful it feels. This was my first book of this author, and it definitely won't be the last 🖤
