From Western writer Gary Church, author of the Johnny Black Western Adventure Series! Circumstances brought her and her husband to San Francisco, where she found herself on trial for murder. These three are a team now, living and working in Galveston, Texas, on an island off the Texas coast, seeking justice for those who have been wronged. An elderly woman is conned out of her life savings, a man finds himself on trial for murder, a woman goes missing and an old friend of Barlow’s is receiving threats from a mysterious source. These are just a few of the cases taken on by the Barlow team as they place themselves in danger of arrest, injury or death, in pursuit of justice. Ride along with Barlow, Tobias and Phoebe as they juggle their personal lives, deal with the past and pursue justice for their clients.
Enjoyed it , glad everything was tied up at the end but want more stories of the detective agency. They now have to make enough money to support three couples!
I loved this book just as much as every single book in the Johnny Black series, also by Gary Church. I couldn’t stop reading it until the very end and OH WHAT AN ENDING IT WAS! (No! I’m not going to ruin it for you!”) If you like mystery, suspense, action, great characters, and even a little romance, then you’ll love this book as much as I did. I’m so excited to read the 2nd book in the series starting now…
Enjoyable light reading.Barlow frequents many places in Texas I am familiar with. It's a different kind of western with some legal and romantic twists.
characters are well conceived and we'll thought out. Nothing too serious, but enough action to keep the various plots interesting.
This is a great book. I loved the interaction between the main characters, and of course the ending. I certainly hope you consider some sequels. Barlow and company could rival Johnny Black.
The cases in the book aren't developed enough to my taste. I like the concept of Barlow's character but feel the author should limit the cases pursued to developer each case further.
This is a book of many crimes and their resolutions that is obtained by a clever, resourceful character. Sam Barlow is a quiet, extremely intelligent lawyer with a worldly investigator and an outspoken, smart female clerk. Terrific cases and most interesting read.
I really enjoyed this unusual Western. It’s main characters are lawyers and their investigations. Good action, and romance. I recommend this novel for a little different take on the old West
I needed a break from reading western books and this book did the job. I reside 30miles from Galveston so that made the book even more enjoyable. Thanks for the enjoyable characters.
Barlow: Seeker of Justice 1880 by Gary Church. A good book written in a series of cases solved by Barlow and his associates. Has a bit of sweet romance thrown in.
