That someone is me.

My name is Megan and I solve murders.

People have a knack of dying where I happen to be, and evidence has a way of finding its way into my hands.

I know this town and its residents like the back of my hand. With some help from my friends, I’ll figure out who’s telling the truth, and who’s spinning a yarn of lies.

4 Star review Crime Skein (Knitorious Murder Mystery, Book 6) by Reagan Davis

Audio Review:

Both the author Reagan Davis and narrator Zim Avaltrades are relatively new to me. This cozy mystery was entertaining and I enjoyed the story. It was good to be back in Harmony Lake with another murder for Megan and her cohorts to solve. This time Megan will be pulled in different directions and her personal life is about to get complicated; torn between her sheriff boyfriend and her ex husband who is now a suspect.

This book was full of twists and turns that kept me guessing throughout. There were lots of clues to follow and some surprises in Crime Skein as Megan, her boyfriend and other friends follow the clues and I have to say that I was taken aback on a couple of occasions.

I continued to find the narrators' male voices hard to relate to (they seem forced to me) but since her main character is a female I could still listen and enjoy the story. I really liked the characters, they are engaging and easy to relate to and the fact that they are of a mature age is an added bonus for me.

Another enjoyable addition to this series! I really like the main characters and their relationships with each other. It makes the story just as pleasant to read as the mystery itself. The mystery is interesting and keeps me turning the pages to see what clues will come up next.

Although this is in the middle of the series, the book could easily be its own cozy mystery. Davis does an exceptional job blending reminders of character relationships into the story naturally so they flow with the story. In this plot Harmony Hills is ready for the election of their new mayor, but of course, things happen. A couple of red herrings, a few familiar characters find more page time, and romance is in the air.

I enjoyed this book. Once again the author has crafted a clever plot that is driven by a small town feel and great characters. This is book six in the series and I am still loving it, it can be listened to as a standalone book but that means you miss out on the rest of the fun and previous mysteries and to be Frank why would you? The characters are down to earth and care about each other (even ex's) which makes them likeable and people you want to spend time listening about, there is also a lot of recurring characters that we know well. The mystery was good and contains plenty of suspects, red herrings and humour to tie it all together. I also like the small town feel to the story and the way everybody (okay nearly everybody) comes together to protect it. The budding romance is sweet and the author sets the story up for the next book, she doesn't leave it on a cliff hanger because the mystery does get solved and it more what's going to happen next, which I for one will be finding out.
Finding a new Mayor for a small town shouldn't be too hard but after the last one was accused of corruption the last thing they need is another scandal. Which is why Megan's ex husband is talked into running for the position because he will take what's right for the town to heart. Unlike his opponent who only has money in front of his eyes and what the town can do for him. Then a show storm hits and things get complicated. Megan's ex loses his car keys and begs to stay at her house, he boyfriend the sheriff gets called into work after an anonymous phone call is made and a friend storms out of a card game when a bad prank is played on him. Then a body is found and celebrations for Megan's ex winning the election is put on hold while he is investigated for murder but he isn't the only one. With a number of her friends and family in the crosshairs for the murder Megan is once again putting on her sleuthing hat. Can she find out why somebody finally killed the most hated man in town and why he would run for the mayor position in the first place?
I liked the narrator. She gives each character there own voice making the story both easy to follow and enjoy.

This is the sixth in the series. The writing gets better and better. We learn new things about the recurring characters. I like Megan’s friends and family. They are always there for each other.
In this installment, Adam, Megan’s ex-husband is the lead suspect in the death of Saxon Renault. Both are running for mayor of Harmony Lake.

As Megan, Eric and friends try to resolve the murder we are taken on a twisty curvy ride.
I found it compelling and could stop listening. The narrator did a wonderful job with the story.

I highly recommend this book and this series.

Harmony Lake continues

I love this series, and if Harmony Lake wasn't a small, made-up town in Canada (where there is snow and COLD--and too far away from Winnipeg where my "mom" and "big sister" live), I would be moving there tomorrow. I am thankful I found this series as it is just intriguing enough to give me a break from the academic stuff I read most of the time. Great storyline being told by a masterful story teller.

I just, love this series. Even though they involve mystery, they also give me that home town camaraderie through every character. The writing is light, enjoyable, intriguing and totally engrossing. Warning - I can not put the iPad down down when reading this series. I just need to find out, what’s going to happen in the next chapter.
I’m just thankful as a fellow yarn store owner, my life doesn’t involve the mayhem. But I am picking up ideas of store displays, so thank you.

I love this series! It is so intrinsically woven together so that The storyline is twisted and complicated. The author reveals like peeling an onion. Megan doesn’t go out of her way to investigate and she doesn’t do stupid stuff to endanger herself or others. Just by talking to people they reveal things that she then puts together to make a whole. I love that!!! This book was so good; the backstory adds that much more depth to a really good story line!

Crime Skein is the latest installment of the Knitorious murder mystery series but if you haven't read the others, do not let that stop you from reading this book. Meg is caught between the two men in her life in her latest mystery. One is investigating a murder and the other is on a very long list of suspects. Knitorious murder mysteries is one of my favorite series. The mystery keeps you guessing in a writing style that also keeps you laughing. The recurring characters are very well developed and many are keeping secrets which are revealed as the series progresses adding to the mystery. I highly recommend Crime Skein to all mystery lovers.

Great addition to the series. I would have liked to see one character in particular sweat a little more, but that's my mean streak. Love the community interaction. Makes me want to visit Canada again. Though not in winter. The mystery was solid and had just enough twists to keep you guessing. Solid series.

A great book to curl up with.

I love this series. It's so easy to relate to the characters and the community. Being from North Ontario I love the few insider jokes. In another book do you think you can squeeze "it looks cold outside"
The book has its share of surprises and all the characters are so very likable.

This is a fun series. Knitting, dogs and a small community which has a high death rate by murder. This one includes a local government election as well.

Entertaining, with some humour in lake side Canada.

Charming!

I like this series; the protagonist is mature, competent, and completely believable; the small-town Canadian knit shop makes a charming locale; the supporting cast is likeable with a broad range of personalities; and, the writing style is crisp and engaging. This murder is plotted well and provides plenty of suspects, and the path to solving the mystery is logical. The bit of romance just adds to an overall good read, and I look forward to Book Seven.

I think I am halfway through this series. Usually, when I read this many books in a series I see a pattern but Reagan Davis is an excellent author and each book has a unique story to tell. I am so great fun for my free trial of Kindle Unlimited because it introduced me to this great series.

I really enjoyed this book in the Knitorious series. I love Megan and Eric’s relationship. He may not like it but Eric gives Megan the space to be who she is. He recognises she can save herself and encourages her to be herself.

I've been reading this series this last week and I'm hooked, obviously since I finished the 6th mystery. Amazing fun (there are humorous parts), romantic (a few love stories), and a murder in every one that I can never figure out! I'm loving all the characters in Harmony Lake, loving the small town feel. I want to move there and be part of the knitting club & book club...I fit the criteria, I'm sure.
This is a fabulous book like the first 5 and I do recommend it.

These books reflect how important being a loving, understanding, cohesive unit serving each other is. Togetherness and keeping each other safe should be reality not fiction.
