The Secrets of Bones by Levi Fuller is the second novella in the Isle of Bute mystery series set in Scotland. Detective Claire Juno has returned home from Miami for two weeks to try to reconcile with her father. They haven’t talked in ten years as he has refused her calls and ignored her emails. This story picks up where the first novella ended. The situation doesn’t improve for her when Matt, a junior police officer shows up.
Claire is a character that grows on the reader as you learn her background. She shows some character growth in this one as she handles a variety of situations, but she still has plenty of flaws. Insights into her thoughts, behavior, and actions towards others provide additional depth. Readers also learn more about Detective Ben Courtney’s past as the story unfolds. Themes include murder, family relationships, how people handle grief and anger, and friendship.
Once again, the opening was strong and memorable and immediately drew me into the story. The narrative is suspenseful. However, it didn’t feel like it was set in Scotland. As I expected, this one ended on another cliffhanger. However, I have the next book in the series and plan to read it soon.
Overall, I enjoyed the suspenseful tale and want to know how it ends.
Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
I just finished Book 1&2 of the series and pre ordered book 3. Good story and characters! Good suspense and no repetitive details - although there are alot of misspelled words. I liked the books.
After reading the summary of the book I was definitely intrigued and could not resist picking this one up. This is a very well-written mystery/thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat pretty much throughout the whole book - a definite page-turner for sure! There were many great plot twists throughout that I was anxiously turning the pages to see what would happen next. Great characters, well-developed, that really pull you in to the story. This was a really great read and I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

Having now been arrested for the murder of old man Duncan all eyes are Clare. This town likes nothing but a good gossip session however, it is soon discovered that things are not what they seem. We certainly learn more about each character and why Clare has been gone 10 years. As she gets closer to the truth, more people are dying, and she is wrapped up in more than one investigation, this book was far better than book one and I can’t wait to continue the journey.
This is the second Novella in this series. It picked up right where #1 left off. Again Clair is a strong lead. She’s good at her job. She doesn’t take a lot of gruff from anyone. These Novellas in this series are the best mysteries. As soon as I read #1 I started #2 which is this book! I finished it and ordered #3. I can’t wait for the release on 09/18/20. Great mystery series.
Captivating, suspenseful, riveting, edge of your seat thriller -all adjectives that are appropriate for this latest book in the series by Fuller. As expected, Fuller pulls off another winner. A sure bet, you can never go wrong with a book by Fuller

AWESOME!! I wish it wasn't in bits and pieces like this. I wish it was all in one piece. One book. But other than that? I like it. More than I thought I would! It's a fun book, (all of them, so far... Ok, all two!) And I recommend it. Like it. And now I am truly hooked!
I liked that the story continued with Claire trying to solve the mystery of the bones, and where they were found. The interactions between Ben and Claire continued to grow. The characters were diverse and convincingly believable. I would have given the book 5* if it had been longer
I enjoy the book. Good characters and complex relationships among them. Great reality of a small Town/Island. And good plots of crime. Pleasurable read definitely. Great for mystery fans.

clamping .. perhaps I won’t try that for a while lol
Lots of family and hurt feelings in this one, certainly this does happen in many cases, it’s hard to understand but with a bit of understanding most of the time all those hurt feelings can be repaired. Thanks for a good read,
Claire finds herself in trouble. And has top to end herself. More secrete abound. I really enjoying the suspense of this story. Levi really has a way of throwing many secrets together.on to book 3.
Another gripping read by Levi Fuller which had me on the edge of my seat. Claire's enthusiasm to solve cases leads her into precarious situations. What will be the outcome? Captivating and suspenseful. Rivetting page turner.
