Not your main atlas, but a fun supplement with a shtick. The schtick: 8 or so overlays that show you where modern countries stand in relation to the ancient near east maps. At 70ish pages, it’s picky choosy with what events it maps out (again, not your main atlas), but very helpful for what it is. That said, it’s not friendly on the colorblind…
the maps of the Greek and Roman empires. Routes into the Promised Land. Where Jesus walked in Galilee. Seven churches of Revelation. charts and timelines. Maps for bible stores. this is really an incredible book where it shows you where the cities and countries of the old and new Testaments and what country they are today. did you know God sent Jonah to preach to Nineveh, which lies on the outskirts of the modern-day City of Mosul, Iraq. Jesus went to locations in four modern-day countries: Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon. the seven churches of Revelation were located along major travel routes in Asia Minor, in Turkey today. Just little tidbits like that. you will really like this book it is good for several things like church classes, homeschooling, and Bible studies more interesting.
This is a great reference atlas for...you guessed it...getting an idea of what the Bible geography was during its time period as well as what it looks like now! It contains accessible and helpful information and is good for getting a broad view of the Bible narrative. It also includes helpful charts and a CD that contains jpegs and ppt slides.
I recommend it for any Sunday school teacher, or anyone who wants to get a better visual understanding of the geography of the history recorded in the Bible - and how that relates to modern-day land boundaries.
he Deluxe Then And Now Bible Maps is a great concept and especially helpful were you to be planning a trip to the Holy Land, but I wish several of the maps of Israel were on a smaller scale.
