Aries ‘Flame’ Creed is not the kind of man you want to cross. He’s rough around the edges, revenge-seeking, shrewd and nobody’s pushover. After living through a checkered past and a nasty divorce, single fatherhood and a successful motorcycle sales and repair shop in Atlanta, GA keep him on his toes.
Things are finally looking up until, one day, he learns his wealthy, estranged father has passed away and left him his entire estate. One such asset is a historic building in a prime part of town.
Lauren McKinley loves vintage cars, healing crystals, strong coffee, and dirty books. She owns the ‘Kindred Spirits,’ bookstore in Atlanta, her pride and joy for years. Widowed and definitely not looking, she’s convinced herself that she’s content, and doing her best to look on the bright side of life. That is, until her business is jeopardized by a devil with haunting amber eyes, more ink on his body than on a world map, and a seasoned professional in the art of intimidation.
All hell breaks loose, perhaps for reasons that neither fully acknowledge until their backs are up against the bookshelf walls. Chemistry ignites, and Aries and Lauren turn from enemies to friends, and then lovers…
This is a tale of broken hearts, awakenings, and two searing souls coming together and healing as one. Can Aries sort through his pain and anger at the world to give love another try? Can Lauren admit some harsh truths and trust her own heart this second time around?
Tiana Laveen was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She moved away, and now lives inside of her mind, but her heart is occupied with her husband, two children, and twisted imagination. She enjoys a fulfilling and enriching life that includes writing books, public speaking, drawing, painting, listening to music, cooking, and spending time with loved ones.
Tiana Laveen is a uniquely creative and innovative author whose romance fiction is geared towards those who not only want to temporarily escape from the daily routines of life, but also became pleasantly caught up in the twisted, well developed journeys of her unique characters. Tiana creates a painting with words as she guides her reader into the lives of each and every main character. Her dedication to detail and staying true to her characters is evident in each novel that she writes.
I just love this firey complicated, holds no punches kind of guy. He knows what he wants and goes after it, and Lauren McKinney is in his eyeshot. She has intrigued him and he wants her bad. He just had to court her and persuade her that it was time for her to love again. He knew he was competing with the ghost of her deceased husband. Lauren had lost her husband five years previous and she spent her time in her bookstore Kindred Spirit and not dating, regretting the last thing she said to Nehemiah. But, she too was intrigued by this giant of a guy with his alpha maleness and fiery temper. In a lot of ways, he and her deceased husband were very similar. She was a calming rain to his fiery temper too and she was fast becoming Aries' calming rain as well. He set her on fire with just one kiss. He was the first man she felt secure and safe with in a very long time. Her mama didn't raise a punk and her daddy didn't raise a fool. To her, he was a tall glass of something poisonous and good down to the last drop.
I loved Aries' relationship with his son Aiden. He was such a good father to his teenage son. He never regretted having his son, only who his mother was. Aiden resented his mother's ways as well but Aries never said a bad word about her to him. Aiden was happy for his father that he found love again. Aries was happy just being alone and after divorcing his first wife. He was okay running his motorcycle repair shop Ring of Fire. He only chose to date Lauren because he wanted to, he was not content being alone. He resented having to do his deceased father's bidding. He did fine on his own and hated his father until he finished his scavenger hunt and finally understood why Benjamin Creed was never in his life.
Tiana did her due in this book. She let her inner comedian fly. I thought Saint was her best character but that first scene in the lawyer's office had me cracking up. I was hooked and could not put my Kindle down. Aries said whatever came to thought and he did not hold back his tongue at all, no matter whom he was talking to. He killed me how he let Lauren know he wanted her. I think I screamed out loud " this dude is a trip." The things he said to himself in his mind had me whirling. I can't end this without saying something about Uncle Huggie. Everybody has an Uncle Huggie in their family, including me. Life would not be interesting without these kinds of people.
My favorite quote comes at the very end of the book. "Life hadn’t been easy, for either him or his sweetheart, that was for sure. His life had been a baptism by fire in some ways. But then, someone came along and baptized him with her love and belief that even a hot flame such as Aries Creed could be extinguished if the downpour was that of love. From that day, love flowed from his heated core, melting his hard exterior with a perfect, passionate kiss on a rainy day…"
I highly recommend this book. It will be put on my re-read rotation of books.
Like all of Ms Laveen’s book. Aries is like most of her heroes, brutally honest, rugged and flawed. I also like Laureen. She had a traumatic experience, however she recovered somewhat and was confident in who she was. A few things were missing for me though. 1st, how did they go from an eviction notice to having dinner so he can ask questions about his dad? I know that in the end the money wasn’t important, however I would have loved to know how much he inherited. My opinion might be controversial but I truly believe that Benjamin loved his son and he was convinced that the greatest gift he could give him was to keep him away from him. It was a sacrifice for Aries rather than Benjamin. It is hard to accept but not every parent is meant to be in your life everyday. It goes against popular belief and it’s not trying to renege one’s responsibilities it’s just the difficult acknowledgment of who you are at your core or the situation you are in. Just like giving your child up for adoption. Sometimes it’s the ultimate show of love. Benjamin obviously had deep emotional issues after years of abuse but had the foresight to acknowledge them and beware of what he was capable of giving or not. It’s rather admirable and self aware. I enjoyed the parallel made with Aries’ ex wife and the profound wounds she was inflicting of Aiden. Benjamin was of a different era where people didn’t seek therapy and maybe it wouldn’t have worked anyway. Sure Aries suffered from his absence however who is to say that his presence wouldn’t have been more painful. Actually I agree with what Aries said, his mother was actually far more cruel while being there. By refusing child support to force Benjamin to fit into her idea of a good father (and probably mate) or even talk about him, she punished Aries or several levels. One by keeping him in abject poverty when he didn’t need to be, but also emotionally, even if money doesn’t replace being present, at least Aries would have felt that his father acknowledged his existence. Lastly, and it’s the same for most of Ma Laveen’s book, the story was too much in a bubble. We had the treasure hunt and the romance but what about them as people? I mean what about their friends and family? For example, we didn’t have one conversation with Landon Jr and they are supposed to be very close. The story was also about a father and son relationship or lack of and we didn’t get much of an interaction with Aiden. One of their conversations was really meaningful and we are told how great a father he is but not shown that relationship in detail. It also felt strange not to read more about Lauren and Aiden. She’s going to be his stepmother and it felt like they didn’t really know each other or spent time together. It went from them meeting at the mansion to the wedding.
First just let me say I was invested. I was hooked to keep reading to see how the mystery would unfold. It’s like a “Lifetime movie “ so worth it. Aries a strong 💪 blunt Alpha , and Lauren ,the heroine just as strong also held her own. Both were intelligent. Lauren and Aries are both blunt with each and didn’t play games. Take this journey with Aries and Lauren as they navigate you thur the love, and the characters growth in relationship. Enjoy the journey, I did. I hated for it to end.
It’s different don’t get me wrong Tiana’s always give you something out of the norm with her📚 books. Great read you won’t regret!
Psst...Spoiler 🚨 Alert : All I’m going to say is “Huggie”.
I love this book..the characters were brilliant they made me keep on reading. I like the journey of finding out about the father that brought them together. Good Read!
This is the second book that I have read by Tiana Laveen and she does not disappoint! She has added a lot of humor to the story (I was laughing a lot and even more when Uncle Huggie made his appearance!) Whew! This was really deep and I enjoyed it immensely! I am a fan of this writer!
This was a smart & sexy read! It was also hilarious 😂 Babyeeeeee, when I tell you that Uncle Huggie had me hollerin' - he really did! I was crying laughing! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lauren and Aries were brought together by happenstance. Or maybe not. That will be up to you to decide. Whether it was by design or not, the love story of this pair was sweet, very telling and often times painful. Aries Creed never knew his father, yet when the man passed away, he's left with a fortune and with an overwhelming anger at the man that never wanted him. Aries begrudgingly tries to fulfill the last wish of the elder Creed, hoping to gain some insight into the man. He gets more than he bargained for. He gets Lauren, a beautiful bookstore owner, who happens to occupy a building on the lists of properties now owned by him. This couple is truly well matched. She is the the rain to his fire, calming him when he needed it. She taught him to see what is right before his eyes if only he will take the time to stop and really look. He, in turn, is the fire to her rain, pulling her out of her comfort zone, helping her to experience new and exciting things and pushing her buttons to get under her sweet as sugar exterior. I enjoyed this book so much. It was a real boy meets girl kinda tale. But of course it wouldn't be a Tiana Laveen work without some steamy sex! Aries and Lauren burn up the pages. This book doesn't disappoint.
Meeting gruff and rude Aries was not what Lauren thought would happen. Falling in love with him wasn't even in the realm of possibility even though she found him rather attractive in a rough kind of way. Meeting the beautiful Lauren who wouldn't get off of his mind until he did something about it, had Aries going out of his way to get what he wanted. And he meant to have his way with her. He bulldozed his way into her life and made her his and didn't care who didn't like it. This is a great love story of a man finding himself, getting to walk I his deceased father's shoes and coming to terms with his father's decisions. Meanwhile, the woman he fell in love with had her own demons to face. This was a really good read.
Aries had a flame that forever burning hot, consuming him, feel with anger...cares about three things: his son,his mother and his shop. That is until circumstances place him to Kindred Spirit where he meets beautiful, smart, a wonderful woman that he is about to evict by the name of Lauren. Life is strange, isn't it?... This book will leave you in stitches, Aries sense of humor is just too much, and there is uncle Huggie, Lauren's uncle, that man is just trip. Meet Aries and Lauren... You won't regret it!
Aries Creed is a man with a lot lot of anger an bitterness inside of him. he doesn't do relationships since being burned by his ex- wife and focus on his son and his motorcycle repair shop. everything changes when the father he never knew passes away and leave Aries with his fortune. Unforgettably for Aries, he has to find 7 letters his dad wrote in order to receive the full estate. In order to find the letters he enlist the help of Lauren McKinley, the owner of Kindred Spirits book store which is located in one of the propertied Aries has inherited. Their 1st meeting does not go well but, Aries is not a man who takes no for an answer and soon he and Lauren are off on a scavenger hunt for the letters and falling in love at the same time. I love this book. Ms. Laveen weaves a beautiful tale of pain, regret , heartbreak and love that draws you in . Aries is struggling with the knowledge that his father was a very wealthy man while he and his mom lived in poverty. He is angry with his estranged dad and when he starts to get the letters, his anger escalates. Aries is true alpha and a bit of an a**hole but, he has a good heart and loves hard. Lauren on the other hand, keeps people at arms length after losing her husband she is afraid to love again. She has a helpful spirit and when Aries ask for her help, she just in and soon, can;t help but fall in love. Wonderful read. Loved it!
Aries - what a complicate, brutally honest, hard working man and one heckuva father. He spoke with unvarnished and blunt words and stop by his word. He's been hurt by life and people get he still lived and open to love.
Lauren - such an amazing, loving, accepting, not accepting of crap, straight talking, strong, confident and loving but wounded woman. She's been hurt and disappointed and nearly destroyed by grief yet battled her way back.
Neither Aries nor Lauren was ready when their paths crossed but the train kept rolling with them on it for a amazing journey. In the midst of finding love they found forgiveness and peace. They both had some things to let go in order to fully appreciate each other. Once they let go, their love was able to grow and freedom from anger, bitterness and disappointment.
Fire & Rain was a beautifully written love story that showed hero and heroine evolving into a better version of themselves. The growth of their relationship was a joy to watch. But good gracious Aries had a mouth on him!! This man cursed like an old Army Sergeant Major!! But he was to defender of his own. Lauren was a strong sister and was ready should some crap pop off. Reading their story and watching them fall in love was wonderful. Thanks Tiana!
This book brought out so many emotions for me. There is man like Aries Creed. His honesty, loyalty, and sense of self only enhance this Alpha. A single man dedicated to his son and his shop he meets Lauren and knows this the woman that’s meant for him. Her beauty, spirit, and energy awakened the beast in this man, and in the best way possible. This journey he and Lauren take will play to every emotion you have. A journey of self discovery that leads to love, happiness, and the ability to come to terms with you he past. Aries was a phenomenal man and his way with words and explanations brought me to tears at some points in the book. He spoke honestly and from the heart and his every move was done with pure intentions. While I loved Lauren I felt Aries brought it all together in this book and in book boyfriend world he would be the one lol. Buy this book and read it now
Loved this book. Aries and Lauren are an endearing couple. Both characters are fighting different types of abandonment issues. Aries was abandoned by her father and Lauren left a widow when her husband died. Before I buy a book I read the reviews. The reviews do not determine whether I buy the book or not. I was thoroughly delighted with the progression of mutual love and respect the characters had for one another.. Was happy to see the abundant favorable reviews. Just could not understand the less favorable reviews. *sigh* This is a great novel. I can tell some readers must have limited tastes in books. And to each their own.
What was surprising was the comic relief...Uncle Huggie LOL. I absolutely loved this unexpected character who brought tears to the eyes. Happy Reading Rainbow Travelers. Buckle Up for the next written ride!
To date, I have read quite a few of Tiana's books, and each one has taken me on an emotional roller coaster that sometimes ends in tears and sometimes totally speechless, lost in deep thought. Fire and Rain was one of those—the MC Aries, whose birth to his young single mother was treated like a dirty secret. She made him her world, and despite their wretched poverty, they were able to thrive, but not without social pressures and the denial of a child not knowing his father. This weighed heavily on Aries to the point that it had become a fire in his soul fed by the hate for the father who had abandoned him. The fire was about to consume him until Lauren, despite drowning in her sorrow of lost love, saw the man and understood the pain. When you read this book, please have a box of tissues close by. You are going to need them.
Wonderfully written, as always. This author knows how to craft words that glide off the pages. Aries and Lauren met each other in an adversarial setting. She was the tenant, and he was the new property owner, having inherited the building from a father he never knew. He gave her notice to vacate the premises, and their journey unfolded from there. They both suffered losses and emotional pains in their lives, and were afraid to make themselves vulnerable again. This book held a lot of mystery, and shows how complicated familial ties can be. I enjoyed this book, but the male character mirrored others in this author's previous works. All in all, a decent read.
I have mixed feelings about this book. On one side it’s a discovery and healing journey, but on the other side it’s trite and sappy.
Too many references to contemporary music in an effort to set a mood, too many diatribes into unnecessary dialogue and failed poetic phrases for reflection. The journey became exhausting as I churned through this book. At one point I just wanted to get to the end, which was equally trite.
Aires’ interaction with the white biker, unnecessary. Lauren’s father’s painful history and attitude toward Aires, unnecessary. Aires’ journey to understanding should have been enough without the side drama.
Not a fan of this book; not memorable, glad it’s over.
I’m not quite sure where to start, but let me say I enjoyed this story immensely. Aires and Lauren’s love started at a slow burn and ending in an inferno. They complimented one another. Where he appeared crass she was gentle. Her helpful and kind ways I think attracted him and made an impact. He needed someone to give him a space where he could trust, love and be vulnerable. Lauren was all of those things but her docile demeanor hid a fiery woman. Tiana Laveen never disappoints! Each character pulls you in and holds you hostage until you’re at the end. Well done!
I really liked this book, Aries Creed was indeed a complex man. Lauren was a smart, pretty, and passionate woman. Benjamin's will and ask that Aries had to do to get to know his father was strange but, Lauren was there with him offering suggestions and insights. Aiden was cute and the depiction of a 13year old was correct, so many authors screw that up but not here. Ashley, Aries ex and Lauren's daddy added another layer to the story. Huggie offered some levity to some heavy subject matter. I liked that it took sometime for them to get to know each other before they jumped into a intimate relationship. I recommend this novel if your into IR.
I loved everything about this book! I was not prepared for it, the title fits, Aries and Lauren was a great pair, they fed on the other's life, both strong and committed to helping each other in their personal struggle in their lives. Both proving love have no color or no one person heart aches, respect and being there for each other, a true partner who can recognize the other's needs. I loved all characters in the story, and of course I always enjoy this authors books! I may have not all but, I have many of her work and they are always great! ,
Aries was a brash, arrogant man who say what he wants when he want no worries what anyone around him tho I or say. His father was not in his life growing up because he was trying to spare him the creed curse but in the end Aries hate the father that wasn't their for him. In the process of finding out who his father really was he met the love of his life and learn to forgive. Aries and Lauren were both married previously and it did not end well but they gave love another chance and the love was on.This is my first book by this author I enjoyed it and is looking forward to other reeads.
I really enjoyed this story. I Loved the hero and heroine and how they came to be. Aries is one of my new book boyfriends he is straight up with no chaser. What you see is what you get he is the total package with a side of humor. Also, I just love Huggie he is that family member you look forward to seeing at family events because you know it will be a good time. If you are looking for a book that will keep you wanting more this is it you will not be disappointed.
I love these two as I do all of Tiana's H and h. Lauren wasn't afraid to speak her mind and Aries recognized the 'tone' **smirk**when he heard it. This book had me tearing up a couple of times too. I hurt so much for Aries. Nobody's perfect, but you make it work, you know. There were laugh out loud moments as well. Aries stealing 'greens' out the pot...😂hilarious! And Uncle Huggie is a hoot! My only disappointing moment was that it had to end. I will anxiously wait for the the next masterpiece. You keep doing the damn thing! Happy writing!
Ms. Tiana! This book was brilliant, and so are you! I will be talking about this book when I am old and in my chair rocking on my porch in the gentle evening hours. Every blue moon, one would read a book that has a profound effect on the Reader. For me, this book is one of them. In your book to me, the fire represents the burning off of the negative emotions in the field of life. The rain coming afterwards prepares the grounds for a re-newing, blossoming into a new life in a Field of LOVE. Please get this book! It's a Keeper!
This book was really good. I've learned Tiana's style, and I live it. Her Heroines are strong solid women (sometimes they have issues too), and her heroes are Alpha males, some with old demons/struggles. They make for interesting stories where you can't wait to see them break through the pain. Her character's are never regurgitated, they're always different and enjoyable. One thing I've noticed is that the males have a tendency to smoke cigarettes and the women don't bat an eye, which is unusual.
Tiana's stories are one of a kind, not formulaic. At times, a little bi-polar. I loved Aries' journey to learn about his father and in the process met Lauren who helped heal him and him heal her. I greatly enjoyed Aries' raunchy mind and straight to the point directness. Lauren's father bias against whites was understandable but he learned to set it aside for the love of his daughter. And the cherry on top was Uncle Huggie. I wish Aries' mom got a happy ending but Tiana's stories are not pollyanna types of romance, one of the reasons why I love her writings.
Fire and Rain by Tiana Laveen was fantastic. This book should be a movie. The storyline, sensual chemistry, and the connection between Aries and Lauren had me intrigued, until the very end. This story is mysterious, sexy, thought provoking and funny as hell. The comic relief came from that dang Uncle Huggie. I laughed so hard at his antics. Just unreal!!😅😂😂. Check out this amazing book, it a definite reread. I didn't want it to end!!!🔥🔥🔥👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I enjoy reading this book, however it was not like your common romance book. This book has a little suspense, mystical, super natural occurrence in which the characters have a connection unpredictable, and an emotional roll coaster occurrence that places the reader in a place of uncertainty. There is racial bias on both sides and the need to forgive and move forward. The lovemaking is off the charts, sizzling hot and passionate. The writing flows easily and effortless. You will not be disappointed by selecting this book.
I purchased this book because of the number of reviews thinking it must be good. Was I ever wrong. This book was so poorly written that it was actually hard to read and understand what was going on and hold my interest. It took weeks to finish reading it and I only forced myself to finish because I didn't want to waste my money. Advise to everybody, please don't waste your money. I o my gave this a o n e star rating g because there was no place to give it a lesser rating.
This is a really detailed book and I loved it. You get a very good understanding of the background of the characters and what they went through. I love this author as she always gives you an awesome read. It has great character interaction, a plot that flows well and steamy romance and a mystery to connect a son with his recently deceased father. I highly recommend it!
