College Sports #4

Caught Looking

Rate this book
Caught Looking is a friends-to-lovers steamy short baseball romance with a sassy, afraid-to-commit heroine and a determined, sexy hero. It is the fourth book in the College Sports series and can be read as a standalone.

“Cassy Jones is the only girl on the Tempt University men’s baseball team, and I thought she was just a competitive teammate.
Until Coach accuses me of flirting with her.
Just to be clear—I’m not. And I’m convinced neither is she.
Coach claims that flirting would mess with Cassy’s performance on the field.
I think that's bullshit, but Coach’s accusation has me seeing Cassy in a new light.
Suddenly, I want to get to know her. Is she really a loner? What’s with the tough girl act? And why does she try to hide her curves?
But the closer I get, the farther she pulls away. I'm losing my mind over this girl.
Turns out it isn't Cassy’s game Coach should be worried about.
Can I prove to her it’s possible to date her teammate and kick ass on the field?”

Caught Looking de Anita Knight Serie The College Sports libro 4

Argumento:

Cassy

This book was tagged as friends-to-lovers but it was more just teammates-to-lovers. Friends-to-lovers usually has the friends woried about ruining the dynamic of their friendship once they get together romantically, however the two MC's in this story were just worried about the dynamic of the baseball team. They also didn'talk or hangout outside of practice and team functions. However, friends-to-lovers isn't a trope I generally like, so I liked the teammates-to-lovers thing this book had going on.
-
I also enjoyed the feminism in this book. For starters the FMC is on a college baseball team. This team at Tempt University is the first to have a woman on their college team. The coach and players regularly refer to her as one of the best players. No one on the team has anything wrong with her being on the team. While the players and coach don't need her to prove herself, they are worried on her behalf on how other teams will treat her, so they are protective of her and want her to stay focused to prove herself to the other teams at their game.
-
Only thing that bothered me about the book was that the FMC was "not like other girls" because she played a sport, liked to eat, and only wanted to be "one of the guys." This kind of took away from the feminism mentioned earlier because it came across as this girl was only accepted because she didn't act like a typical girl. I also just hate the "not like other girls" trope when the girl is exactly like other girls.

Overall a short, enjoyable read. Perfect for sports romance lovers and as a palette cleanser between books.

It just keeps getting better!!

I am loving how with each book we get a little bit more of a full on story between our main characters. Garrett is cocky but in an absolutely swoon worthy way, especially in his attempts to get Cassy's attention and I loved it! The most unique aspect and my favorite part of this book has to be Cassy, she's not only a fantastic heroine on her own, but the fact that she is the only female on an all male baseball team just made her such an incredibly strong character to read. The chemistry and passion between these two is perfect. Another fantastic addition to this series! I'm off to read book 5!!!!
