It’s been about a month since the modern world ended in book one. This series must be read in order, continuing characters and plot.

Post apocalyptic
Hellhounds
Zombies
Found family vibes
Innocent heroes
Wonderful side characters
Intense

Around the 80% point the fmc makes a HORRIBLE decision. If you knew zombies were getting smarter, and the fey are immune to zombie bites and literally can't die, WHY would you leave the safety of the camp??? The excuse that "I need to chip in and help with finding food" is absolutely ridiculous as the fey have the numbers and the resources to get all the supplies for the humans without losing any lives. Besides that, she promised Drav she wouldn't leave. What a moron.

Between that decision, the lack of descriptive intimacy, and questions left unanswered, kept this under a 4 star.

* Dara Rosenberg is a good narrator if you plan to listen to this series.

Synopsis:

The world is nothing like Mya remembers. While in Ernisi cities have been bombed and burned in an attempt to stop the hellhounds and the plague. The survivors are doing everything they can to win back their world from the hell that was unleashed with the first quake.

With Drav’s help, Mya reunites with her family but they are far from safe. Marauders, hellhounds, and the infected are doing their best to destroy what’s left of the world, and it’s up to Mya and Drab to do their best to save it.

‘“I saw what you did. I wish I had the strength to hit you in the face and break your damn nose.” No sooner had the words left my mouth than Drav’s fist darted forward and made my dreams come true.’

‘“What’s your name?”
“Byllo,” he says.
“Okay. Timmy, Byllo’s arms are getting tired. Can you sit in a chair for just a few minutes?”
Timmy lifted his head and looked Byllo in the eyes.
“They are not tired,” the man said. “I could hold you forever.”

‘“Do you trust me?” I whispered.
“Yes.”
“Then love me back.”
Drav growled and gripped my hips.’

‘Timmy twisted in his seat and mimicked the men further down the table, lifting his tiny elbow on the table and held his hand out for Byllo to take. Byllo set his crayon down, gripping the toddler’s hand.
Timmy grunted loudly just like the men further down the table. Byllo grunted and let Timmy knock his hand down to the surface. Timmy’s delightful laughter filled the room, catching the attention of the other fey. Soon more fey and even some of the humans came over and “challenged” Timmy.
I smiled. Maybe there was hope that human and fey could co-exist, after all.’

‘“We can walk,” one said.
“We don’t have time for that,” I said.
An older man with white hair nudged the other man out of the way.
“Speak for yourself. If one of you wants to carry me, I’m willing to take a lift.”
I grinned and watched Azio move forward to pick up the man.
“Azio, be extra careful. Humans with white hair tend to be more fragile.
The older man snorted.
“Come on, Mary, your chariot awaits,” the man said.
An old woman stepped down and looked over at the men.
“Oh my,” she said. “I don’t think I’ve been this much bare chest since watching the Summer Olympics.”
I chucked, already liking Mary and the older man.’

‘I turned around to see more of the fey men pull the strings to their pants and drop them where they stood. Those standing near Mary looked at her before confidently and slowly walking past.
“Oh my!” Mary exclaimed as she got an eyeful. Most of the fey smiled proudly at her examination.
“Mama!” James called.
“Oh hush it, Pa. this is good for the blood.” She winked and continued staring at the men who walked passed her.’

‘“Because you will never let anything happen to me. Because I’m yours and you’re mine. And because you really, really like it when I jiggle.”’

Not much of a conclusion....

For the amp the two previous installments built, the conclusion fell flat and good enough for what came before. Sorry, M.J. I am a huge fan, but there were too many useless factors and unanswered questions. I warn readers now, stop reading because my explanation will be a spoiler.

Just an obvious remark, these fey are just sex addicted virgins that have no idea what sex is. They just want to see some va-jay-jay.

Let's begin with with the useless information/situation.
1. The fact she was bitten. She dies, but comes back with (aside from the better night vision) no side effects.
a. She is immune to bites, but in no way did this add to the plot in any way.
b. She has better night vision. It doesn't explain why, nor is there any significance.
c. There are moments she references her experience with the bite, but never directly.
2. Aside from Byllo and Jessie (and obiously Mya and Drav), there were no fey romances.
3. This is kind of an unanswered question, but it's more of a useless factor simply because it didn't make sense. Why would a best friend and caring brother manipulate his sister to leave the compound to pull her weight?

Let's face it. They were added in for drama and tension, but they weren't substantial enough for story development. They happened just to happen.

Unanswered questions
1. What happens to the world as the hounds are killed?
2. How did the infected evolve to problem solving and setting traps?
3. Did the infection transfer to animals? Not once did we see an animal (aside from the dog in "Demon Ember")

Flatness....
1. Almost the entire buildup was the fey were up to help humanity survive. They did that, but there was very little tension between human and fey.
2. The exiled fey were just arrant bad boys looking for a way back in.
3. There was not much of future. It was a happily ever after without any idea what the after is. We get there are less infected, the fey are out killing hounds and infected, but what about everything else? The structure of the compound leadership, other human compounds, long-term survival. There are only so many years a canned veggie will last, and the fey don't eat vegetables. Are there any livestock alive? Wildlife? Were there any domestic animals, like that one pup from #1, left alive?

I overall enjoyed the series, but this book just came out rushed and did not do the series justice.

What a cute little trilogy this was. I really enjoyed this series.

In the final book we get to see how the humans reacted to seeing the fey for the first time and of course there were humans who acted like assholes but in the end we saw how the humans and the fey started to work together to rebuild the new world they were living in.

Of course the best part is that we get to see Mya get her HEA.

I'm sad this series is over. I'll miss Drav!

This was a funny, witty and sexy read. Great book companion for traveling (by train).

I hope there is more to this series. The ending was too vague, definitely has potential for a spin-off series.

~ This is a review of the first 3 books in the Resurrection Chronicles: Demon Ember, Demon Flames and Demon Ash ~

It isn’t just Mya’s world that’s falling, it’s everyone’s. The arrival of the seemingly unkillable red-eyed hounds whose bite turns people into mindless zombies has driven humanity into a post apocalyptic world. No one is safe, especially in the dark. Mya is doing her best to survive and reach Oklahoma city and her family when a new monster attacks her and her companions. He looks like a man…if a human man had grey skin, pointed ears, sharp teeth and was 7ft tall. But, he spares Mya’s life and now seems content to follow her and protect her from the dangers of this new post-apocalyptic world.

It may seem like I am being lazy reviewing 3 books in 1 review; however, each book continues seamlessly on from where the previous one ended. In fact, when I think about it, I can’t really remember which events happen in each book it’s all merged together as we watch the post apocalyptic paranormal romance love story unfold between Mya and Drav. Another reason why they merged together? I couldn’t put them down. As soon as I finished one I was straight on to Amazon getting the next one. I was addicted.

For anyone who is a fan of Sandra Neeley’s Whispers from the Bayou series or Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarians series (which FYI makes a cameo in these books!) then I know you will love these. They have the same type of hero; barbarian in appearance, a little primitive and strangely innocent with a heart like a marshmallow – all soft and sweet. Basically, my favourite kind of hero. Which, is why I loved Drav, but I warn you to be patient with some of his more… violent actions -never against the heroine – won’t make sense until you are further along.

Mya is a college student who gets chucked into the deep end. Although I liked her, it did take me a while to warm to her. I think I was too busy swooning over Drav. However, this is one of the reasons that although this is a recommended read, that I didn’t rate it a 4 or 5 stars. I have to fall in love with both the hero and heroine for it to rate that highly. But, I did love Drav and the idea behind this series. These books set up a dangerous new world where if the zombies don’t get you, the hellhounds will. And, if you survive that you then need to be wary of the other surviving humans as well. It’s an exciting read.

This is a great start to this paranormal romance series and I am dying to get my hands on the next book.

Demon Ash is The Bomb a Dark Sexy Supernatural Thrill Ride! All I can say is I need more of this world and it's awesome characters. Hope all of The Foxy Fey get books of their own!!! hint hint. ;)

This is my favorite book in the series the action, excitement and romance are even more intense and the humor is wickedly delicious.. I could read it over N over again and enjoy it just as much as the first time!

Mya N Drav's chemistry is explosive, scorchingly hot N sweet. I just can't get enough of these two!!!

Meh

I liked the first part of this series because it was action packed. This last one is so relationship forced and I found myself increasingly irritated with the female main character. Focusing on strange, idealistic morality in a dying world while her man suffers and bleeds for it. I found her to be insufferably naive.

This was the conclusion to Mya & Drav’s story, but I’m hoping we will get to see more of them in the coming books. The fight against the hell hounds and infected humans is not over for the inhabitants of earth.
I found this 3rd book more intriguing than the 2nd. There was more going on, back on the surface of earth, encounters with survivors, hell hounds and the sweetest interactions between one of the Feys & a young boy that’s rescued.
Can’t wait to read Ghua’s story.

4 stars — In general I loved the way Mya and Drav’s story resolved. There were definitely moments where I wanted to slap Mya…okay, a lot of moments (*cough* Ryan supply run *cough*). But I loved seeing the Dark Fae learn about human customs and adapt to our world. They were so earnest, you couldn’t help but love them, even as they made me LAUGH AND LAUGH with their obsessive focus. Some of those conversations just killed me, I can’t even.

I actually really appreciated the way a bunch of little threads were brought back in, including the exiles. I didn’t expect that, but I really loved what these authors did with that.

Again, as with the previous books, the love story is probably something I shouldn’t have fallen for, but I totally did. It’s not a normal relationship, especially since it had a bit of stockholm quality to the beginning, but I just really loved the way they desperately loved and cared for one another. It was addicting. And sometimes it’s kind of nice to let go of realism and just accept what you’re given.

I also really fell in love with quite a few of the other Fae, and am actually really excited that there are spin off books for each one I loved the most (Ghua, Kerr, and Shax). I can definitely see wanting to read their books, though a part of me wants to wait to see if they get made into audiobooks b/c Ms. Rosenberg really did grow on me as a narrator. Decisions decisions.

So yeah. I will admit that there were parts that felt kinda hokey, but in the end I was sucked right into the world and compelled to keep reading. That’s success right there.

Disappointed

I believe this was the last book and it was very disappointing. I would still recommend it as the background is still interesting and just touches on the Fey, but is not fully explored in the book. The plot was very meh. There is the underlying goal, 'getting to her family,' but there were other interesting subplots and what I thought was the true main plot but sadly fell through and the reader is left with a meh story. I enjoyed the concept, the characters, and what I thought could be a plot in my list epic books , but there are still questions that are left unanswered and character choices that are questionable for a conclusion.

What an adventure!

Demon Ash is the third book in the trilogy and it was loved, again. Drav and Mya are back on the surface, but they are not alone. The world is a much more dangerous place and this book is thrilling and keeps you on edge. The infected scenes are more intense, so I read during the day. ;) So good, and I'm looking forward to more from this new world.

I’m truly sad that Mya’s and Drav’s story has come to an end. I wish there would be endless pages continuing their amazing love story, but alas, all good things must come to an end.

Mya and Drav were an amazing duo in this book. I love how they have evolved as characters. Mya is far from the scared girl in the beginning of the series. Now, she knows what she wants and ins’t afraid to get it. Drav has become much more empathetic and caring. I love how Mya’s love and constant believing in him has made him an amazing person/demon. I’m a sucker of stories where a both characters help each other grow and love helps them solve problems, but is not the answer.

The romance in this novel was off the charts hot. I love how there is so much tenderness in the sex scenes. They were sweet and not at all awkward. They added so much to the story. There was a good amount of lust, but emotion was always there. In addition, I really loved how Haag finally made the two characters equals. Each needed the other to survive. Mya wasn’t completely dependent on Drav and Drav wasn’t always trying to save Mya. When they worked together, OMG!

The action and resolution of this story was spot on. I love we get to see more of the humans in the book. The questions that lingered from the second book was answered extremely well. I loved that the ending of the novel completed Drav’s and Mya’s story, but left a bit hanging so I can proceed to the next about the next couple.

I also loved the secondary characters. Mya’s family is so sweet. They were so fun and a great addition. I also liked all of Drav’s people. They were so alpha and seeing them interact with humans was quiet hilarious. I won’t spoil it for you, but some of interactions really added a good dose of laughter in this novel.

All in all, this is a phenomenal ending to this series. I just couldn’t wait to do a complete binge read on this series. It just made my entire week feel so good and I was on the high from completing this novel for a couple of weeks. I’m really sad, once again, to say good-bye to Drav and Mya, but I’m quiet happy there is another book to give me my fix on this amazing world MJ Haag has created.

Bravo MJ Haag & Becca Vincenza, well done! This is my favorite book series that I’ve ever read! This book (#3) continues on from book 1 & 2. It is definitely not stand-alone reading, since the world building progresses starting in book 1, continuing into 2, ending in 3. It still amazes me how well the authors, MJ Haag & Becca Vincenza, meshed together writing this, you cannot pick apart who wrote what in my opinion. This flowed fast & furious, it is a can’t put it down, stay up all night until you finish type of book. The characters are all dynamic, even the secondary characters. There’s all sorts of things going on in this book, from Zombies, apocalypse, drama, mystery, thrills, excitement, humor, Love, & sex. It kept me on the edge of my seat, laughing, crying & stressing over what’s going to happen next. The humor always seems to offset the the heavy moments as well. The balance for all the emotional swings was perfect!

I adored the main characters, Mya & Drav, their story evolves thru the series, giving them depth & character, it just feels real. This book ended with the HEA love story that I wanted. I did feel the ending was just a tad rushed, but it didn’t hurt the story in my opinion, since I was just being greedy & wanting more. The only thing I hated about this book was that it was the end of the series! I just wanted to keep reading about them, I’d have loved 600 pages for each book to get more of Drav & Mya, more of their story & more of their world since it felt like I was right there. This book did leave an opening for a possibility for spin-offs for the other fey males. I'm not positive if that was the direction the authors intended though. If there are spin-offs, I do hope we get glimpses of Mya & Drav in those. This book was definitely steamier sexually (but tastefully done) than the first 2 books were.

I really liked this series but I must confess that there was a lot to improve.
There were three books that almost didn't leave the place, mya insisting on going to the family and drav trying to help her, by the way, I liked her at first but as the books went on she was irritating me more and more, she was annoying, selfish and stupid with Drav's people and himself, I don't think she deserved it.
I understand her longing for her family, but she could be more understanding with the drav side too and that pissed me off, she literally had him by the pussy and took advantage of it by putting him and his group in danger for her yearning to get back to her family and humans that she knew for sure they wouldn't be kind to the fae, her and drav's inequality of feeling was uncomfortable, she talked about them going back to the surface without realizing that they probably wouldn't be, captured, tortured and killed. As I write I still finished the series, but what I've already seen gave me a hint of what this idiot will be and make the fae pass because of her selfishness and lack of sense.
Drav is all faithful, brave, loyal, true and so on... The man was such the complete package it was such a waste for him to fall in love with mya, not sure if I am that she didn't care for him but it was obvious which side would she be on if something went wrong and that didn't go down very well for me. I loved the fae and dark goblins, I liked their culture and noise surrounding their world, which by the way I wanted to be explored more.

You know this feeling of dread when you start the last book of an amazing series? The feeling that this book has the power to destroy it all? No matter how good the other books were but a bad or even mediocre last book will bring them down. So, naturally, every last book in a series that I love, is something that I long for while fearing at the same time that I might be disappointed when I get it.

Do you know that feeling? Well, you can stop worrying, "Demon Ash" doesn't disappoint at all. It is simply amazing! From the first page on I was captivated by it and couldn't put my reader down. I loved meeting Mya and Drav again, getting to meet her family and see them interact with Drav and his friends. I laughed and giggled a lot, especially when Mya's mum was around, I stopped breathing, I might have shed a tear or two - and I absolutely loved every single page of this book.

This book was perfect, it was the perfect ending to a wonderful story. It took me on a long journey, getting to know Drav and his friends much better, seeing them interact with children (soooo cute) and women (even though they still have to learn the there are some questions....wellllll..... ), protecting those around them and of course, protecting Mya.
The whole series is amazing. It is funny and captivating and I loved each and every one of those books.

Ever patient Drav.

Finally the conclusion to their story and I have to say I'm not sad to see it finished. For starters this series was too young adult for my liking I prefer my books with plenty of passion and romance. In this one Mya kept getting in trouble and needing to be rescued by Drav a total of 3 times! In two of them she could have gotten killed and on one occasion she almost did if it hadn't been for sheer dumb luck. I swear if I were Drav I would bloody well tie her up everytime I had to go anywhere as she had no common sense for her own good. They also FINALLY have sex but the descriptions are very timid like 'his fingers found my sweet spot' it's ok to use the words clit, vagina, orgasm I mean they spend the whole 3 books saying pussy, boobs and cock for goodness sake. I guess that's why I didn't get why the intimate scenes were either fade to black or skimmed through to when they were done it was so disappointing. The story culminates with Mya finding her family and with the help of the Fay are trying to rebuild their lives. At least they managed to find a way to actually kill the hounds but it boggles my mind how an intelligent species could have taken so long to figure out the issue with the hounds. This is the type of tale that can go on indefinitely as their are too many hounds on the loose creating too many infected who are in turn infecting others so basically this is a non stop cycle with an ending that has little closure.

And the series finally comes to an end. I have to say, if Melissa and Becca weren't the authors of this book, I wouldn't have read it. Zombies and apocalypse novels aren't my thing, but I am in love with these authors, so I was willing to chance it. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. Especially recently coming off the Judgement of Six series, and MJ Haag's Beauty and the Beast series. The plot and flow of this series has been by far it's biggest downfall. It was much too rushed in the beginning, and the end. In fact, I didn't even realize it was the end of the book until I tried to turn the page on my kindle and BAM, no more. It did not feel like it was leading to an ending at all.

Now saying that, this has been the best actual writing of the trilogy. It flowed really nicely (until the ending), and it was really great seeing everything play out. The absolute highlight of this series has been the characters, who have been written so fantastically, and with so much creativity and imagination! I loved all the ideas that this book was based upon, and despite it's faults, the entire trilogy was a great read.

I was mesmerized by this entire series. What a fantastic collaboration between these two authors, M.J. Haag and Becca Vincenza! The events of this dystopian tale were not only brought to life but built up into these unpredictable and explosive events that set the imagination on fire. The building relationship between our heroine, Mya, and her captor turned hero, Drav, was sweet, passionate, intense, and at some points hilarious. In fact, the way she interacted with all of the being from Drav's realm was so incredibly perfect, a mix of humor and a sincere love that built over time.

There were unexpected turns and insights into the human psyche that were deeply poignant along with the development of a love that transcends race. I loved it from beginning to end, though I have to say I wasn't ready for it to end. Wonderful job, and I can't wait to see what each of these authors comes up with next. I hope to see another such alliance between them.

Demon Ash by MJ Haag and Becca Vincenza is the entertaining and sometimes surprising conclusion of the highly enjoyable trilogy about Mya, college student turned zombie apocalypse survivor, and Drav, her fey protector, as they struggle to survive and find Mya's family. This third installment continues to provide a roller coaster of emotions, laugh out loud moments, and edge of your seat suspense. From establishing peaceful relations with humans, to defending themselves from increasingly clever zombies and persistent, nearly indestructible hellhounds, Mya seems to have little chance of survival in the new reality of life on Earth. Readers have to decide if the fey will become the key to not just Mya's survival, but all of humankind. Fantastic read, with high hopes for more from this collaboration of authors.

So good!! This is a very good apocalypse zombie book. It just feels real and very different from others books!. We follow Mya and how she heals from her almost dying situation but then gets in more trouble, as well as the Fey who are protecting her. She finally accepts her feelings towards Drav who is a Fey and i love her journey. She finds her parents! Drav and Mya fall in love in a short period of time but given the circumstances it makes perfect sense. They rely on each other and have perfect chemistry even when Drav and the Fey drive her nuts with their innocence sexual references!! Mya has become like a “sisterly” figured to the Fey except for Drav but she has learned to love them. They are her family now. I loved the series!! Not everyone has been extinct and because of the Fey humans have hope. And thats all it matters!!!

Thank God this is a series!

Okay I will get it out there I do not like post-apocalyptic stories at all. But This is an all together different beast. It kept me wanting more, because not everything is what it seems to be. Even when the story took a little slower pace things where happening, so there was no stopping the fun and nail biting. Adventure, danger, romance, with naive and innocent Faye. This book was so good I didn't want it to end and took a break from it thinking 'Oh, crap this story is going to end too soon. I have to save it for later.' I only lasted a day, before I had to find out what happened.

So give this a read you will not be disappointed. This is the third part of the first story so read those first. Here's to hoping that they will all be in one book soon!

It's a 2.5 for me. While personally, it was an enjoyable read because I've grown to love the characters, the plot fell pretty flat for me. Once Mya reunited with her family, their interactions didn't ignite many emotions in me. I also thought the decisions made by both her and her brother was very senseless. As someone who has almost died before many times, you'd think Mya would be much more careful and heed Drav's insistence of keeping safe and staying put, yet she throws out the warning and the lessons she previously learnt out the window, just so she can be an additional person on a supply trip... The introduction of the fae to humans also went a lot too seamlessly in my opinion. And the mystery/ conclusion with the 2 exiles was short and just didn't seem to fit with the overall emphasis put on them this whole series.

When we last saw Mya and Drav she was on the brink of death and he felt as if he was losing his world...I had huge fears for book 3, was so apprehensive about there the storyline was going to go...holding my breath I took the plunge and started on page 1.

As they survey the world around them the landscape is nothing like Mya remembers. I could not believe the rollercoaster of a ride that was in store for me. As crazy insane as the world around them was this book had me giggling the entire way the humor that was interjected between Drav and Mya was such a relief needed from the intensity around it. I loved this one the most in this series, not just for the HEA but for the crazy imaginative world that these two authors created. This is series is a must read from beginning to end!

Drav and Mya

I finished and can I say I loved it. It was crazy to see how often Mya got into trouble. But you can tell with her new found immunity to infected bites that she was braver. She didn’t mind going on the supply run with her brother because she knew she couldn’t get infected.

I can truly say that Drav is amazing. He exactly the kind of protective you would want in your life. Especially in a post apocalyptic world. And no matter what he always finds Mya.

I’m glad that the Fey are settling in okay. Timmy seems to have a play mate and Bulls seems to have acquired him a little family as a result. Hopefully from here things only get better. The work will never be the same, but it will be worth living in.

Mya and Drav part three (and final?) This book rounded out Mya’s story arc and quest to find her family. The characters are cuter in this one.

I think it’s really fascinating that the view of so many writers about our dystopian future is that as soon as shit goes sideways, human men become complete assholes without any common sense and treat women like garbage. I really hope that’s not what all men boil down to in reality. And in books, the answer is you either have to go off planet or at least to another species. It’s kind of a sad view of men.

You could see that the authors were putting out bread crumbs to tell new stories with different couples. Idk I don’t think I’m into zombies but it was entertaining enough to read all three books. There’s like 7 or 8 more in the series.
