This book is disappointing in many ways. The first is my own fault, as for some reason I thought it was about serial stalkers who end up killing the objects of their obsession, instead it is just about serial killers who stalk their victims - which according to the author is essentially all of them.
Otherwise, there are typos and mistakes littered through the book, it's extremely repetitive and frequently used as a soap box for the author's body of work and opinions. The chapters that focus on a single case are better, but most of them look at a slew of cases very shallowly and with very tangential links; several discussed don't even fit the topic of discussion or are even the work of a serial murderer but are included nonetheless.
This is my first time reading one of Berry-Dee's books and it'll be the last. It's a bad sign if even a new reader feels like you wrote the book quickly and with little care.

Wow!

One of the best true-crime books that I've read! Lots of interesting cases on stalking / stalking that leads to murder, from physical to online.

This author really gets into the mind of criminals and it's fascinating to read.

There's nothing more to say apart from if you love true crime documentaries/stories this is for you.

If I could give less than one star I would. The whole thing feels like a soapbox used by the author to boast of his terrific achievements and importance. He victim blames all over the place - my personal fave was when talking about the men who were murdered by the ‘black widow’ serial killer he mused that because they were drug addicts they were ‘dancing with the devil’ and ‘what did they expect’ .... probably not to get murdered hun. Don’t bother honestly.

tak jak głowy zza krat przeczytałam z zafascynowaniem, jak pochłonęłam rozmowy z seryjnymi morderczyniami tak mam OGROMNE ROZCZAROWANIE co do tej książki!

czułam się jak na wykładach, gdzie wykładowca opowiada o super rzeczach, ale robi w to tak monotonny sposób, że sens ich słuchania ucieka! czuje się również jakby zostały pominięte wszystkie interesujące fakty!

dodatkowo przez pierwsze 60 stron praktycznie nie dostajemy nieczęsto nowego, czego nie wiedzielibyśmy już z poprzednich książek (o czym dostanie autor nam przypomina)

20 storn mówienia o Tedzie Bundym kiedy autor informuje nam że nie chce o nim rozmawiać…

The title of the book is somewhat miss leading although there are some anecdotal interactions with serial killers that are well presented by the author they are sprinkled so scarcely through the tirade of self promotion and references to the authors own activities it seems hardly worth sifting through. It is almost as if through these long interactions between serial killers and the author he has started to envelope narcissistic traits of his own.

Within this book there are several reference made to the word count limit which is somewhat ironic given the words wasted on repeating that statement alone and continually referencing the authors previous works (see what I did there) or what he will tell the reader later and what he has already told us.

It is apparent that the author got somewhat tired or lazy maybe a combination of the two when writing the chapter "Internet homicide, spinning a web" two of the murders (Derrick Todd Lee and Antoni Imiela) cited in this chapter have no connection to the internet and are smash and grab killers, For Lee the author just clumsily lists the victims, the dates, how they died and where they are laid to rest.

The book gets of to a painful start with a obnoxiously long acknowledgements section where I was surprised not to see an ode to a dog the author owned when he was seven that had only eaten one of his slippers but left him graciously an entire one in tact.

If I were so inclined I would list the chapters worth skipping however I'd suggest route out the actual interaction or talking the author had with serial killers and avoid skim, skip wholesale burn the other pages.

Zasadniczo ta seria jest przez moja skromna personę lubiana i szanowana, pomimo tego, że miewa wzloty i upadki.

Kolejny już reportaż Berrego Dee nosi podtytuł stalkerzy, co dla mnie okazało się mylące. W samej książce o stalkingu informacje są jak dla mnie mniej niż szczątkowe. Na temat stalkowania, to ja sam bym mógł napisać z 300 stron i to bez ćwiczeń praktycznych, szkiców, mapek i tabelek.
Cały ten temat został potraktowany po macoszemu i mam takie poczucie, że jednak zabrakło przygotowania. Autor posiłkuje się historiami morderców, którzy „występowali” już w poprzednich tomach, trochę jakby na siłę przedstawia teorię, że oni przejawiali zachowania stalkerskie, no ja to tak w skali 1 do 10 kupuję aż na 1,7 bo jest późno (w chwili generowania) i mam przytłumione zmysły.

Trochę za dużo było tu zapychaczy, typu wymienienie wszystkich rzeczy znalezionych przy zwłokach, no ja osobiście nie wiem czy to była wiedza, która zmieniła moje życie, ale zaryzykuję i powiem, że nie.

Mam też takie poczucie, że ta książka opisuje wiele rzeczy tylko tak mało konkretnie i nie do końca. Zostawia jakieś pourywane tematy i niedomówienia, a taka sytuacja w reportażu chyba nie powinna mieć miejsca moi najmilsi.

Osobiście lubię tę serię, bo jest barwna i dotyka dość ciekawych tematów, jednak ta odsłona akurat mnie zawiodła, bo tytułowy stalking został nieco potraktowany byle jak i jego największa obecność jest zaznaczona w tytule.
Jak ktoś sobie lubi o trupkach poczytać to uzna to za rozsądną książkę, ale jeśli liczy o lekcję stalkingu to będzie skołowany jak to się mawia kolokwialnie (po lekcję stalkingu zapraszam na dm - to są drogie rzeczy ostrzegam).

Szczerze nie wiem co napisac. Bylo to moje pierwsze spotkanie z reportażem. Wiem że ten autor ma wiele lepszych książek niż ta i stac go na wiele więcej, jednak nie moge ukryc ze lektura mi sie podobala. Spedzilam nad nia wiecej czasu niz planowalam i chwilami stawala sie nudna, ale mysle że mimo tych drobnych wad ktore zauwazylam warto po nią sięgnąć.

The true crime obsession is real

A horrid book. Although I had previously enjoyed the books written by Christopher Berry-Dee, it appears that not only did he REALLY not want to write this book (how many times can you mention the word count you are restricted to?), he also decided to start victim blaming about half way through, that increased towards the end. A quote that perfectly sums up his abhorrent treatment of MURDER victims is,
“With that being said, there has to be some culpability to be found in all of her victims. Drug addicts, alcoholics and social drop-outs, their mucky legacy proves that if you dance with the Devil you must expect the worst, for in many respects they willingly entered the Black Widow’s web and suffered the consequences, as shocking as this may seem to be.”
This was the point at which I could no longer read the last few pages left.

Even if you disregard the writer’s poor attitudes, both to writing the book and the murder victims mentioned within it, the theme of the book (stalking) is constantly lost in a sea of overly complicated timelines, mentions of where else to find information on cases (as if this is not why the reader turned to the book) and the writer’s egoistical manner of constantly shoving his many accolades and accomplishments down the reader’s throats.

This book is probably the worst book I have ever read, and the only thing that pushed me through it was my will to actually learn about the lost souls of victims.

Although this book does discuss many very interesting cases, it is not actually about stalkers in the way I expected, i.e. the criminal having obsessions with the individual being stalked, and carrying out the stalking behaviour over a long period of time. It is actually about serial killers who stalk their victims, which is still of interest, but just not what I expected.

The book was also very poorly written. I was extremely disappointed by the huge number of typos and grammatical errors in this book; it had clearly not been proof-read, and this was a constant distraction throughout the book. Without these grammatical errors, I would maybe have given the book four stars, or at least three and a half! The book was also very repetitive in content, sometimes repeating a paragraph almost word for word just two pages later. I also felt it would have benefited from an index at the back, as this would’ve been useful in cross-referencing some of the cases mentioned at various intervals throughout the book.

I was intending on reading more books by this author, with the book on female serial killers being of particular interest to me. However, I will now seek a more well written book on the subject, and would welcome recommendations.

This book was the author's telling of various stalking serial killers trying to analyse their motives and agenda. However it only really serves as a thriller book as all you conclude is that they're sociopaths and hide in plain sight and are very difficult to tell apart, but because of the very minute minority of individuals that are like that, it is not worth wasting sleep over. If you happen to be an unlucky one then you're already dead anyway 🤷‍♀️

Uwielbiam książki o seryjnych mordercach. Christopher Berry-Dee jest jednym z moich ulubionych pisarzy. Uwielbiam jego pióro. Każde jego dzieło pochłaniam w jeden dzień. Tak jak autora interesują mnie motywy i mózgi seryjnych potworów. Ciekawi mnie co nimi kierowało. Historie opisane w tej książce wzbudzają wiele emocji. Książka dla czytelników o mocnych nerwach.
Tym razem poznajemy seryjnych morderców, którzy również byli stalkerami. Śledzili, tropili swoje ofiary aż któregoś dnia po prostu mordowali. Nie brakuje tutaj morderczyń i morderców. Autor opisuje tutaj starych „znajomych” (o których możecie przeczytać również w poprzednich jego dziełach) oraz nowych zupełnie mi nie znanych. Oczywiście wszystko to robi pod kontem stalkingu.
Autor na samym początku ostrzega nas przed seryjnymi mordercami. To nie są potulne baranki. Przez filmy (horrory) i książki patrzymy na nich lekkim okiem. Nie boimy się ich – a to jest pierwszy podstawowy błąd. Opisane tutaj typki to odrażające kreatury. Nie zasługują na naszą litość. Najpierw typują swoje ofiary, śledzą je, porywają, torturują a na końcu bestialsko mordują. Potem wracają do swoich domów i zachowują się tak jakby nic się nie stało. W swoich głowach obmyślają kolejną zbrodnię. Tacy mordercy idealnie się maskują. Możecie z nimi mieszkać lub być ich sąsiadami. Uważajcie na siebie.
Oglądamy filmy na faktach o seryjnych mordercach typu „Monster” i się dobrze przy tym bawimy zapominając, że te historie wydarzyły się naprawdę. Ktoś został zamordowany, jakaś rodzina straciła ukochaną osobę – im wcale nie jest do śmiechu. Na ich miejscu możemy kiedyś być my. W takim momencie nie chcielibyśmy oglądać tego w kinie. Nie interesowałyby nas mózgi morderców i motywy jakimi się kierowali. Pałalibyśmy zemstą. Oko za oko, ząb za ząb. Tropilibyśmy ich a potem zamordowali. I tu koło się zamyka. Tylko czy w takich przypadkach nie stalibyśmy się stalkerami i mordercami? Czym byśmy się różnili od nich? Na moje niczym. Stalibyśmy się stalkerami i bestiami. Nikt nie ma prawa odebrać życia drugiej osobie. Nawet w imię zemsty. Temat do przemyślenia.
Christopher Berry-Dee w swoim najnowszym dziele próbuje przedstawić mechanizmy zbrodni, motywy ich działania oraz zrozumieć ich psychikę. Tylko czy tak naprawdę to jest możliwe? Jedni działają według swojego wymyślonego schematu inni spontanicznie. Nagle dostają impuls i muszą kogoś zamordować.
Proszę was zgłaszajcie na policję, jeżeli widzicie coś podejrzanego oraz jeżeli poczujecie się zagrożeni. Widzicie, że codziennie obserwuje was nieznana wam osoba lub ktoś za wami chodzi – śledzi i dostajecie podejrzane smsy – szybko zgłoście to. Możecie w ten sposób uratować wasze życie. Nie bagatelizujcie tego. Inaczej może was spotkać tragiczny los, podobny do tych ofiar z „Rozmowy z seryjnymi mordercami. Stalkerzy”.
Co to znaczy stalk i predator? Autor w doskonały sposób to wyjaśnia. Nie będę tego opisywała tylko zapraszam was do przeczytana.
Większość opisanych seryjnych morderców działa z premedytacją, czyli celowo śledzą, tropią, torturują, żeby w końcu zaspokoić swój głód i ostatecznie zamordować. Wtedy doznają ukojenia, które niestety nie trwa długo. Dlatego ponownie szukają ofiary. Wśród opisanych bestii znajdziecie również kanibali. To jest przerażające i ohydne. Co ich do tego skłoniło? Poczytajcie.
W swoim najnowszym dziele autor wspomina między innymi: Michaela Rossa, Georgea Josepha Smitha, Carigana, Teda Bundy, Lucjana Staniaka, Paulina (mistrz morderczego stalkingu) oraz Marthę Beck.
W dzisiejszym świecie mordercy mają duże pole do popisu. Ogłaszają się w internecie np. poszukując pracowników, dziewczyn, mężczyzn lub sprzedając, kupując jakieś produkty w swoim mieście. W darknecie szukają osób, które dadzą się zjeść i sami będą jedli swoje ciała. Chore. Dosłownie jak w filmie „Hanibal”. Musicie być bardzo ostrożni odpowiadając na ogłoszenia. Nie wsiadajcie do samochodu nieznanych osób. Oni mogą być potencjalnymi mordercami.
Czym się różni modus operandi od sygnatury sprawcy? Idealnie to wyjaśnia Christopher Berry-Dee.
Autor odsyła nas do internetu – oczywiście o ile chcemy przeczytać więcej informacji na temat danego potwora. Ja mam bzika na punkcie fotografii. Dlatego po przeczytaniu o danym mordercy szukam w interneie jego zdjęcia. Nie wiem czemu, ale muszę zobaczyć jego twarz. Może to dlatego, że lubię wiedzieć o kim czytam.
Część opisanych potworów już nie żyje, czeka w celi śmierci lub odsiaduje dożywocie.
Jestem zachwycona tą częścią. Tym razem autor się spisał i opisał mnóstwo przypadków morderczych stalkerów. Mogę się przyczepić jedynie do tego, że brakuje mi w książce fotografii morderców. Mimo trudnego, ciężkiego tematu ta książka to słodycz dla mojej duszy. Niestety nie nadaje się dla każdego czytelnika. Nie lubisz książek na faktach o prawdziwych maniakalnych mordercach to jej nie czytaj. Tak samo nie polecam jej osobą małoletnim, gdyż opisane tu są makabryczne sceny.
Mimo wszystko zachęcam do jej przeczytania.
I na koniec taka ciekawostka. Mistrzem nad mistrzami morderczego stalkingu jest/był Tedy Bundy. Dlaczego? Poczytajcie „Rozmowy z seryjnymi mordercami. Stalkerzy.”. Polecam.

I read this in paperback, but the only edition on here is the kindle edition, so best let you all know that!!
I enjoyed this, though I was expecting more examples of stalking, as there are so many, but this is a book about serial killers and how they select their victims. To be honest, I've read so much about serial murderers that sometimes I wonder if it's a good career to go into haha! Not really recommended in Florida, the buckle of the death sentence belt of the US. Here in the UK, we know that for every murderer you murder (see, it makes you no better than them: you've fried them or given them an injection because, as we all know, two wrongs make a right...) you're letting another psychopath free to unleash hell on your kids - or you do if you believe in reincarnation... which I do. But back to topic...
The author is very good, the writing concise and interesting, and, as the psychology of murderers and what their motivations are, these books have given me insight, this one included. The only funny thing I've noticed about books on serial killers is that, though they'll mention even the most infamous like Gacy with interest, the mere mention of Ted Bundy (the serial killer without a moniker, unlike Milwaukee Cannibal, Killer Clown etc, there's never been a nickname for the most infamous of the 1970s psychopaths, strangely, you'd think they'd want something else to call him to make his name less famous), but the mere mention has the author apologizing. It makes me wonder, have we become immune to the fact that possibly near to 100 young women lost their lives and dignity and burial, not to mention their heads, or are we so afraid to say the name that if we can avoid it we do. After all, if you were outside that prison in Florida in 1989 shouting burn Bundy burn, you're pretty much as much of a murderer as he was, only you've got your prey under lock and key, tied to a chair and being pumped with electricity: no way that victim can escape! Makes you feel good, doesn't it? Don't worry, his soul was born again in 1989, there's a killer already killing your kids in Florida, and I'm so glad my country isn't run on such barbaric principles and knee-jerk decisions. Perhaps the authors who do feel uncomfortable mentioning him do so because they know two wrongs don't make a right, and all those involved will get their karmic just deserts.
I do enjoy reading about killers, Berry-Dee being one of my favourite, it's a good way to understand others, even those not going round killing anything with a pulse like Dr Shipman, and this book helps to comprehend what their thought processes and decision-making is and if there's a way to understand why or if, when it all becomes clearer, the reason for this malfunctioning synapse in the brain of the 1% of the population with psychopathic traits is going to be hidden from science forever? And why do so few kill, as opposed to going into their ideal profession, the armed forces? That's where they belong, not wandering the streets deciding who can live and who can die!

Tym razem na rzut wziął stalkerów,którzy torturowali a także zabijali swoje ofiary. Nie ma tutaj może opasłych
opisów danych osób ale pokrótce opisane są ich historia. Autor skupia się na psychice, sposobie działania oraz motywie jakim kieruje się dany morderca.
Bardzo lubię książki z tej serii gdyż widzę ile autor musiał poświęcić by tak wnikliwie to nam przedstawić.

Stalker- nie jest nam obce te słowo i na pewno każdy wie kto to taki. Taka osoba może być wśród nas i tylko czekać na odpowiednią chwilę by zaatakować.
W świecie internetu nie jest trudno by dowiedzieć się "kto, gdzie i kiedy" dlatego tak bardzo ważne jest to, co wstawiamy na portale. W internecie nic nie ginie.
Stalkerzy mogą być bardzo niebezpieczni bo nie wiadomo jaki motyw nimi kieruje. Czy to chęć szybkiego wzbogacenia się czy nawet obsesyjna miłość.
Może dojść do niebezpiecznych sytuacji dlatego tak bardzo ważne jest by na siebie uważać. Taki osobnik dobrze się kamufluje.Może obserwować tygodniami a nawet
latami.
Kiedyś tak bardzo modne były portale typu fotka czy sympatia.. Na pewno mieliście sytuacje,że dana osoba nie była tym za kogo się podowała.I wtedy tak samo pewnie nie
mogliśmy przewidzieć wielu rzeczy. Wszędzie trzeba być ostrożnym bo na tym świecie żyje zdecydowanie za dużo złych ludzi.

To już trzecia książka od tego autora i definitywnie będzie ostatnia.

Ciągłe powtórzenia (bo ile razy można dowiadywać się, że sprawcy dzielą się na zorganizowanych i niezorganizowanych? A to nie jedyne rzeczy, o których można czytać na okrągło) niezmiernie irytowały. Czasami autor sam sobie zaprzecza (najpierw opisuje Johna Duffy'ego jako stalkera, by potem na samym końcu określić go jako mordercę, który korzystał z okazji), a nawet miałam wrażenie, że przeinacza fakty - przykładowo twierdził, że podpisem Bundy'ego były ugryzienia, a tak naprawdę pogryzł tylko jedną ofiarę. Pisze również o polskim seryjnym mordercy Lucjanie Staniaku, że podawano w wątpliwość samo jego istnienie - do tej pory nie ma żadnych dowodów, że on istnieje, wręcz przeciwnie - znaleźć można wiele informacji popartych badaniami, że został on wymyślony. Książka jest napisana bardzo chaotycznie. Autor przeskakuje pomiędzy zabójcami i w pewnym momencie można pomylić się, o kim aktualnie czyta się.


Pozycja miała skupić się na seryjnych mordercach, którzy byli również stalkerami. Większość opisanych spraw dotyczy tak naprawdę zabójcy, który mordował przypadkowe ofiary, a ze stalkingiem nie miał wiele wspólnego...

Totalne rozczarowanie. Na rynku są pozycje w tej tematyce, które są o wiele bardziej godne poświęcenia im czasu.

This book gave an interesting insight into the history of serial stalkers and how their motives correlate with those of modern day stalkers. Berry-Dee recounts many examples of murders committed over the years which incorporated stalking and gives the reader an understanding of the driving motives of these types of criminals.

I found the information in this novel to be very relevant and enjoyed the case studies provided. However, I can only allow myself to give a 3/5 rating as I felt some parts were rushed and lacked explanation, and for me this ruined the flow of the narrative and left me searching for closure. On this note, I found some of Berry-Dee's descriptions and explanations to be a little sexist and offensive, despite the author's attempts to avoid this.

Yet, I did enjoy this book and I believe any true crime fan would find the information intriguing and fascinating. The language is accessible and makes this a read suitable to both true crime aficionados and newbies alike.

Przeczytałam już sporo książek na ten temat i obejrzałam masę filmów i reportaży dlatego ciężko jest mnie zaskoczyć i też może dlatego nie udało się to panu Christopher'owi Berry-Dee.

Po pierwsze nie podoba mi się styl autora, który jest bardzo stronniczy i więcej tam jego opinii niż suchych faktów, a same historie są opisane chaotycznie i można odnieść wrażenie, że czytamy w kółko to samo. Zresztą nie tylko w tutaj, ale czytając również wcześniejsze jego książki odniosłam wrażenie, że wałkowane jest cały czas to samo, a kolejne z tytułów niewiele nowego wnoszą. Pokusiłabym się o stwierdzenie, że autor przeprowadził sobie rozmowy z paroma zbrodniarzami, a teraz na ich podstawie pisze kolejną już książkę zmieniając jedynie podtytuł.

Jeśli jesteście nowi w temacie jak najbardziej można się pokusić i przeczytać „rozmowy z seryjnymi..” natomiast starzy wyjadacze mogą się trochę wynudzić i niewiele nowego się dowiedzą.

Chociaż ja i tak zawsze powtarzam, że opinie opiniami, a najlepiej przekonać się na własnej skórze i przeczytać samemu ☺️

Przeczytałam kilka książek tego autora, i niestety ta była dla mnie najmniej ciekawa…

W poprzednich edycjach każdy rozdział był poświęcony konkretnemu seryjnemu/masowemu zabójcy, opisane było jego dzieciństwo, wczesną dorosłość i pierwsze zbrodnie - moim zdaniem dawało to interesujący wgląd w psychikę i przekonania danego mordercy. Komentarze autora, moim zdaniem, zawsze były trafne, a fragmenty jego korespondencji i rozmów z przytaczanymi osobami były wyjątkowym dodatkiem do lektury.

W tej książce autor niestety nie skupia się na konkretnym zabójcy, często nawiązuje do kilku w jednym rozdziale, lub nawet akapicie, nie wchodzi w szczegóły ich zbrodni i życia, a raczej opisuje czynność stalkingu z przykładami i odniesieniami do psychiki ludzkiej. Czy jest to ciekawe? Na swój sposób tak, ja jednak oczekiwałam czegoś innego, zwłaszcza po przeczytaniu innych książek tego autora. Nie uważam jednak, żeby książka była zła, jest po prostu napisana w innej formie niż reszta z cyklu Rozmów z psychopatami.

I don't like to give star ratings to non-fiction books, but I will write a review.
This book was so insightful into how killers stalk their victims and how their obsessions grow. There were a lot of different cases spoken about during the course of the book, this made the book even more interesting, to be given real life examples of this happening.
Its written extremely well and captures your attention throughout. Although, at times, it does feel like the author is victim shaming, he does write about the victim and gives them recognition during the length of this book. So he doesn't just focus of the killer themselves.
I'm really interested to read the other books that he has written on different topics.

The introduction set the tone of the book - the horrific nature of stalking. Although at times, the book seem to act as an advertisement for his numerous other book it provided a lot of information about the psyche of a stalker-serial killer.

Initially the book only referred to individual killers to provide evidence about a point, as the book continues, there are chapters dedicated to certain killers which provided a more in-depth look into each killer and the reasons behind their actions.

As I continued reading, it become more interesting as the points begun to interlink. Overall, it was a decent book however one I am unlucky to re-read.

A very detailed book in the Talking with Serial Killers series, this one is on Stalkers. Berry-Dee turns an unflinching gaze on what is maybe the most sinister and disturbing of killers, those who stalk their unwitting victims often for months. Berry-Dee zeros in on the Internet porn industry as one of the main motivating drivers in fantasy stalking, which often lead to rape, multiple rapes and homicide graduating to serial murder.

This book was as good as the previous one but was again full of punctuation and grammar mistakes, even whole words missing in some cases. A good proofreader would benefit immensely.

Not my favourite from this author. While the content was interesting, I found a lot of the offenders he talked about didn’t really seem to be stalkers, contrary to what i expected with the book being titled ‘stalkers’. He placed offenders who had certain ‘hunting grounds’ as stalkers which I personally wouldn’t. I also found a lot of detail was lacking in some areas, being blamed on his allowed word count. I would’ve preferred if he’d went into more detail on small number of offenders rather than the very basic summaries for a large number of offenders.

This book is dreadful. The arrogance of this man, I'm particularly impressed when he directs you to a 'this guy is innocent' website, the disrespect to the women he raped and murdered. He absolutely loves the sound of his own voice and his written word, and I have to say the most tedious, awful, garbage and poorly written work I have come across, it was only £8.99 but that's £8.99 I can never get back. Do not buy, do not read. Do not give anymore air to this idiot. Final note to this fool, calling a women a whore is offensive regardless of profession and status. You are disgusting.
