Summer Taylor had been dealt a bad hand her entire childhood. She was abandoned and left behind like trash by her parents who she would never know. Throughout her adolescence, she had no clear direction to her true identity. After being taken in by Miss Dangerfield, her only ally and possibility of a real family, things would soon change when Summer packs up and takes a job in a new state leaving behind all she'd ever known. She eventually finds love as she falls for Christopher Diamond, an inherited millionaire who swept her off her feet. As Christopher adds sunlight to Summer's dark world, he becomes all the happiness she could ever desire. However, nothing is as it seems... Summer finds herself running from that very perfect sunset that has turned into a cloud of darkness and starts flooding out her happiness and washing away every inch of her newfound perfect life. This novel centers around pure love that's driven by lust, manipulation, obsession, and danger. If you loved movies like Fifty Shades of Grey and Sleeping with the Enemy, this is a book for you.
Summer Taylor never know who her birth parents were. She was found in an abandoned warehouse and was put up for adoption but never adopted. She was taken care of by an older lady and she eventually graduated from college and became a nurse. She has opportunity did you get a good job in Illinois and she took it. This is where the plot begins when she meets up what a handsome young man of the night club and the hell begins. I found it was a very good story but very graphic with the physical abuse that Summer had to take from her fiancé. The story has good characters and not so good characters. I recommend this book for all who want to read about his journey into madness and the physical abuse that comes with it. I found out a very emotional and sad book.
“Her Lost Words, Her Broken Silence" had me hooked from the start. Poor Summer is in such an abusive relationship with the narcissistic Christopher. You want to scream every time she comes back to him. The protagonist’s journey is heart-wrenching and inspiring, capturing the complexities of trauma and recovery with raw honesty. The vivid imagery and poetic language bring Summer's inner turmoil and transformation to life, making her struggles deeply relatable. This book is a must-read, offering a powerful message about the importance of speaking out and the strength found in vulnerability. A beautifully written, emotionally charged novel.
“Her Lost Words” is an exhilarating page turning, dramatic short story about an innocent young woman, and The tragedy and turmoil that her life becomes. I really enjoyed the fast paced movement of the story, and the way that the main characters were developed. Great backstory. At times, the story could be very graphic, but it all played into the drama, and emotions of the main character. Well done!
The story of Summer Taylor is both sad and inspiring. It is a lot of emotional journey. It starts with the difficulty of childhood, then the excitement and hope of finding love, then the subsequent discovery of dark secrets that threaten her newfound happiness. The book dig into the theme of love, manipulation, obsession, and danger, making it a compelling read.
After a difficult early life in a broken family in the deep, Summers' life changes drastically after meeting the wealthy Diamond family. However, everything is not as perfect as people think. This story exemplifies so many of the barriers...and dangers, a beautiful young woman can face in her struggle to move up in the world. You can emphasize with her along each step of her struggle. A perfect introduction to Finding Her Voice.
it’s funny because we think that beautiful women have it easy. then we’ll consciously admit to ourselves that we also know a beautiful woman - maybe a few - that were shy & quiet and dressed under-the-radar. we never ask why tho. Summer was absolutely RIPE for Christopher. her past and history made her the perfect target. she allows these things to happen because she doesn’t know her worth. it’s a sadly familiar tale.
I am a big fan of this writer and her voice in her writing. I read her sequel, "A Voice of Her Own," first and loved it, not realising there was a prequel, so "Her Lost Words, Her Broken Silence" answered so many questions I had in the sequel, like her heartfelt connection to Mimi Dangerfield - who behaved like a mother to Summer and how she first met Stevin.
This book really highlights how a person in an extremely abusive relationship can still forgive their abuser over and over until the hurt is too large to overcome. I felt the anguish and the internal conflict of Summer - cast adrift in the world at the age of three and desperate to find acceptance and love. I hated Christopher and what he did to Summer in this book, and having read the sequel, I know what horrors are yet to come.
This book had me glued to my lounge chair for the past 24 hours on and off. LOVED IT!
I advise you read this one first and then go grab the sequel, "A Voice of Her Own." Both will transport you into Summer's world and are riveting reading.
Great book, Summer and Christopher romance is a rollercoaster of love, lust and obsession. Summer falls in loves and ignores all of the warning signs Christopher exhibits and ends up trap in a spider web of violence and control. Christopher is motivated by his love for Summer but clearly has mental problems, which results in him trying to control her every move. His rages are unpredictable and could cost Summer to lose everything. Despite being warn Summer endures years with man with a split personality.
This is one of the most amazing books I’ve read so far
This is one of the most amazing books I’ve read so far. It keeps you guessing all the way to the end. I love how relatable Summer is to me and so many other. The fascinating thing about the but is it keeps you wanting more, looking for another chapter at the end lol. I definitely cannot wait to read part 2.. I hope there is a Part 2......
When I started to read this book the very first day,I was hooked. The book is so true too life, it is captivating. The book story line was easy to follow and just had a flow that mad in a sentence and May you want to cry in another.
It is so hard waiting on the next chapter to see where the characters carry you. It is a must read book perhaps a movie!!!!
I absolutely loved the book. I just wish Summer could have had a happier ending. I read the book in 2 days because I just couldn't wait to see how it ended. Definitely a must read. Looking forward to the next book!
“Her Lost Words; Her Broken Silence,” is the compelling and heart-wrenching tale of a woman, Summer, who had a rough upbringing. (Trigger warnings for severe domestic violence/rape) Abandoned by her parents, she is raised in a group home. Luckily, she finds a maternal figure in an employee, Miss Dangerfield, who provides compassion and encourages Summer to improve her life. Summer attends college, becomes a nurse, and moves to a new state for a nursing position. With no romantic experience, Summer is vulnerable to a handsome, controlling, and abusive man, who is just charming enough to make her fall in love with him. It’s not an easy read; rather, this is a raw, disturbing portrait of an abused woman.
Terrifying Thriller "Her Lost Words; Her Broken Silence" is a gripping tale that kept me on the edge of my seat with its unpredictability. The story characters are well-developed, and the detailed descriptions paint a vivid picture, making it feel like I was watching a movie. This book reminded me of the suspenseful tension of "Shades of Grey" and the gripping narrative of "Sleeping with the Enemy".
However, I must mention that there is a significant amount of violence in the book, which made it difficult to read at times. While it added to the intensity of the story, it may not be suitable for all readers.
A story with a twist of emotions. It is about a young lady Summer who tries to find happiness in all the difficult situations she has to face in every turn of the day. When she thinks she has found the perfect happiness, that becomes a never ending desire to escape. The depth of pain involved in obsession, lust, childhood trauma, fear etc is very well articulated in a relate manner. A good read.
a veritable smorgasbord of emotions that will hit the reader with its complexity and nuance. With a narrative that provides gusto to the underlying themes do yourself a favour and grab a copy now
I picked this up having read another book by the same author, and I am very pleased I did. This is well written, engaging and creates a vibrant and well observed world. The tone is pleasantly wistful and certainly meant I did not regret going back for more 🤘
This book stirred in me subdued feelings I never knew existed. Overwhelmed by emotions it moved me to tears. The main character's struggle against the odds and her ultimate realisation of the truth is so sublime. A great read.
