Once a dedicated father and faithful husband, Adam is now nothing but a drunk whose life is nothing more than a meaningless drive into eventual death. But the powers that be won’t let him go and on a business trip the truth will be revealed. Now Adam must come face to face with the demons who manufactured the day that ruined his life. Their work took his daughter and destroyed his trust in his wife. Tonight, he will find that his soul has been marked and now he must fight back against the lords of Hell, or else. After all of these years, he will realize that the catastrophic day which changed his life wasn’t a fluke — he’ll come face to face with their grand plan. In their quest to collect righteous souls, his fall was only the first step, and they’re now ready to collect. Can Adam fight back against the odds, against the demons who marked him? Or will his hate and anger open the door for his ultimate downfall?

About the author

My name is Jorge Arenas, and since 2020 was the year of unexpected things, I chose this time to release my debut novel. Born in 1986, I come from Rio Piedra,s Puerto Rico. Due to my family's military nature, I traveled the United States a great deal and that's where I found my passion, urban legends. Studying these brought me to another subject, horror. As I threw myself into the genre, I found worlds that mirrored our own and experiences that I could feel in my soul. Books, movies, and video games became my go-to when I was young, and they continue to entertain and influence me today.

My first novel, The Marked One, is available, and I hope to release a collection of short stories and novellas by the end of the year. I look forward to engaging my readers and hearing your thoughts. Thank you for considering my work. I hope you enjoy it.

First off, make note that this isn't my type of normal reading, so I am coming into completely new genre that I do not have a lot of experience with.

That being said: I am a person who likes to get out of my bubble every so often, and boy did I not only burst out of mine with this book but most certainly flew into outer space with it. Anyone who is into heavy reading knows about the marvels like Edgar Allen Poe or for this specific interest H.P. Lovecraft should understand that when you pick up this book to read, that is what you are going to get.

Without spoiling the contents I will say I am deeply impressed at the level of knowledge each Demon is characterized as; the author is knowledgeable of each one, their behaviors, their desires and up to modifying their designs to fit the narrative, all while having credible historical backgrounds on each. Same goes for the level of detail the main character, Adam, goes through with his emotions, it straps you down and refuses to let you go, until each chapter is finished.

While at the same time not giving you the expected outcomes from each section, in a day and age where it seems that everything is, "I saw that coming from miles away" its fresh to be caught off guard.

Overall I am impressed, and although I am not into this specific genre, I will probably come back, then leave again for a while.

This is the first book I read from this author and let me tell you that I loved it! Such a good book with great characters that keeps you obsessed with every page since the first one. The ending of this book.. come on! I just didn´t expect it! Can´t wait to read other books from this great writer! Amazing job! a must-read!. A fantastic book that has it all! I happily endorse this story to any and all who are looking for an enjoyable read and a completely different experience than anyone could imagine on their own. Great book!
