UPDATE- Please disregard one and two star ratings on authors. As you have seen; Goodreads has been working diligently to remove spam ratings. How can you tell a spam rating you ask? Easy; normally this individual will not have an image associated with their GR identifier. They may have entered ratings on a little as 20 books or as high as 100 however the overall rating they have given to the books they list; is less than three stars. What you don't see are the emails and messages sent to the writers from unknown sources that threaten bad reviews unless a fee is paid, free books are sent, etc.

Hat's off to this site for attempting to get in front of the issue. While an author might only have one annoying bad rating; the site is investigating hundreds of these ratings. Please remain patient and don't let a spammer dissuade you from reading a good book!

"In Hiding" by Caroline Walker is a suspenseful crime thriller about a desperate woman on the run and the relentless bounty hunter who is hot on her trail.

Kate's revenge for her family's death was murder. Now she is running for her life, and from her life. Once a spoiled high class girl, she is now camping out in the woods, stealing motorcycles, and experiencing life on the edge.

Wayne is a bounty hunter with conflicted feelings. Usually, he has little empathy for his prey, but this time, his psychic gift is both helpful and detrimental. He can sense a connection between Kate and him, and can feel her frustration, her fear, and her pain. Even when he is shot, he cannot shake th dinner view of her mind.

His place of peace is in the arms of his beloved Lou, the woman he has pledged his heart to. During lonely stressful nights, he reflects on their love; his saving grace.

Just when capture is imminent, a mystery unravels. Who is Kate really, and what are her true motives?

This book is a fast paced exciting read that will appeal to fans of crime novels, with some spicy romance.

The reader can't help but empathize with the main character. Kate Romey lost her parents and was determined to make the killers pay. But bounty hunter Wayne Anthony gets in the way of her revenge and tugs at her heart. The chemistry between them is thrilling and chilling.
The story is a race to the finish with plenty of twists and turns along the way. Who can resist a paranormal thriller that keeps you glued to the page? I can't.

This book was unexpected for me, I thought this would be the same old story and boy was I wrong. I love the main character and how complex he is. All Caroline Walken's books have great characters, they are unique.
I recommend this book to those that like real character based stories.

Katherine “Kate” Margaret Ramey (20, PTSD) eased the motorcycle to a halt by the abandoned farmhouse.
The guy would soon find her, she was exhausted from running/hiding.
While Kate sleeping, Wayne Anthony (bounty hunter, bail recovery agent) watched.
When she woke up, he handcuffed Kate’s wrists in front of her.

Peebles, OH. Jason Jesse (drug dealer) took Kate (aka Society Girl) to meet with John Michael “Crow” Grand (Satan’s Riders biker gang).
John & Jason had killed Ken Ramey (husband/father) & Joanne Ramey (wife/mother) & robbed them while they were closing the store.
A confrontation in Wayne’s truck & Kate was back on her motorcycle again.
Mercy Hospital ER. Wayne had some explaining to do why he had a bullet in his side.
Dave’s Motor Inn. After a night’s sleep, Wayne was back on the chase.

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very professionally written crime thriller book. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters & facts to keep track of. This could also make another great crime thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. I wasn’t as thrilling as I anticipated so I will only rate it at 4/5 stars.

Thank you for the free Author; PDF book

Mystery, crime, and action thriller all in one for an interesting and entertaining read

“In Hiding” has interesting main characters. Wayne Anthony is a bounty hunter with a special psychic gift, which is not always helpful though. To do his job he must rely on his other bounty hunting skills as well. Kate Ramey is on the run, pursued by the authorities and Wayne. She can be described as a perpetrator and a victim. However, she is more than meets the eye.
Regardless in which genre one classifies this story, there is an overall mystery vibe to it. Readers who like mystery, crime, action thriller, and character-driven plots will enjoy delving into the thoughts and emotions of the characters.
I found “In Hiding” to be a really entertaining and interesting read, wanting to know what the characters will do next.

My reading experience of this book was hampered somewhat. Firstly it was the first book I ever read on my phone. This proved a strange new experience, the percentage read stat along with how long there was left of the book in hours and minutes took me a while to ignore. For quite a bit it was as though I was in a race of some sort. I’m not a fast reader, I like to take it all in when I read, so this was kind of the opposite of my usual reading experience.
Secondly I don’t think it’s a genre I’m familiar with. I imagine the techy name for it ‘slow burn’ or something similar. To me, and I want to be clear that I am not slating the author or the writing here, but to me, it was a bit slow.
Therefore I’ve only given it 3 stars, based purely on how much I enjoyed the book and nothing else.
It ramps up in the excitement stakes. The end was a good twist, the characters are great, the writing is fantastic, it just wasn’t my cuppa tea.

If you’re a fan of the genre, I bet you’ll love it. It was a shot in the dark, and as far as I’m concerned it was a quid well spent. Maybe I should give it 4 stars? No. I’ll stick to my instincts. It was, for me a good book. And good is, well, it’s good right?

Good luck in the future Ms Walken, I’m sure this won’t be your last book. I hope you continue with these characters too.

I was very excited to read this book after reading the two reviews before mine, however, major disappointment for me as I found it to be in serious need of editing. The continual jumps between past and present tense were highly distracting, as was the sloppy format in which it was delivered (breaks between paragraphs that made no distinction between paragraph and new topic). I found the connection between Wayne and Katie to be unbelievable and sparse. The sidetracking into linear characters had little bearing on the story to push it forward; I kept waiting to be caught up in the chase and never was. So sorry Caroline, as an avid reader of thrillers and romantic suspense, this story did not capture my interest.
