It’s a first Labor Day for Angela Hawkins and Jackson Crow with their infant daughter and adopted son. They’re going to take the day and have a picnic with the children while other Krewe members man the office. But the plan goes awry when the grandson of one of Adam’s dearest friends is arrested for committing murder. Tom Flannery swears his innocence--the problem is that he was overheard threatening the victim, telling him that the “ghost” of a murdered dead man might well rise and kill again—just as the local tales claimed he had before. They will head out to West Virginia for Adam, knowing the only way to prove a man innocent is to discover just who did commit the deed. The decaying corpse of a long-dead miner, still seeking vengeance for a cave-in? Or is there something that no can see plainly until all the pieces the two must ferret out begin to fall together?

A quick story with the Krewe of Hunters. It's Labor Day weekend and Jackson and Angela are looking forward to spending time with their children and co workers at a picnic. They get a frantic call from their boss, Adam. One of his best friends grandson has been arrested for murder. He wants them to get there right away. So of course, off they go to solve a crime. It all starts with Tom trying to get the murder victim to give the workers a paid holiday for Labor Day. Next thing you know, the police are knocking at his door. Great mystery to solve.

Angela and Jackson are back for Labor day with their two kids and two of the new Krewe members. However vacation plans take a back seat when Adam calls upset about a friends grandson accused of murder.
The story is intriguing and quite different from the other Krewe stories. The addition of other Krewe members was fun, especially since they have different skills from other Krewe. Ghosts once again play an important role in both the history of the crime and the current crime. Well developed and enjoyable novella. Can’t wait for another visit with the Krewe!
Angela Hawkins and Jackson Crow are planning a picnic for family and friends for their first Labor Day with their children. But Adam calls with a special request as someone very dear to him was arrested for murder so plans changed. Tom Flannery swears that he's innocent but he was heard threatening the victim. Can the Krewe put the picture together before it's too late?
I love the Krewe series and this was a quick, delightful read. However, there were some errors throughout that took away from the book for me. The characters are wonderful and the case is indeed unusual. I recommend this book for both fans of the Krewe series and those new to it.
Good but short ghost story with Angela, Jackson & two other Krewe members
Halloween will be upon us soon, so I’m reading more ghost stories—especially if it’s written by Heather Graham. This was an unusual case for Krewe, with a little twist to the whodunnit, which made it different. I enjoyed having Axel and Raina in the story, not to mention the Krewe trips to Harper’s Ferry.
Sometimes it's lovely to have a short story. She has never let us down. I must admit I was wrong about who the culprit(s) were. Lol. Though I wish they could have helped the Ghost who helped them. Read a lot of her books and never been disappointed But that is just my opinion.
Angela and Jackson are getting ready to enjoy Labor Day with their children and some friends when Adam requests that they look into a case. Tom is dear to Adam but has been accused of murder. The circumstances are damning for Tom but there just might be help from a spirit or two to solve the mystery. This novella is a quick, fun read.
Adam's friend's grandson is accessed of murder. Adam send Jackson and Angela to West Virginia to find the truth! A great short story in the Krewe Of Hunters series!
This is a short story featuring the Krewe. It kept me interested till the end, but then all of Heather Graham books do. A real good locked door mystery.
Tom told his boss that it he didn't change his ways that he'd die like another man had. Luckily the ghosts of that death are still around to get the facts straight.
Great little story. Characters are strong and interesting. Plot flowed well and has plenty of twists and surprises. One annoying typo. Satisfying conclusion
