There were four main things I had to accomplish to secure the crown.
1 - Prove my strength to every wolf 2 - Face my own demons 3 - Somehow make it out alive 4 - Wage a war with the vampires
Even though I had my mate by my side, there were certain things that only I could decide. My whole life I'd stayed of the radar, licking my wounds. But now, I was ready to stake my claim and right the wrongs of my uncle. The vampires were out to destroy me and the Wolf King of Europe was determined to end my reign before it began. I had to not only face my worst fear, but fix the wrongs of the past twelve years. The only price might be my own life.
If you can't get enough of books by K.F. Breene, Kelly St. Claire, Annette Marie, Shannon Mayer, Leia Stone, Jaymin Eve, and Laura Thalassa, then you'll be sucked into this royal paranormal romance.
Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.
My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.

It wasn't bad, it was just bleh. Elena was pretty stupid. Ella is exhausting. Overall they felt like a bunch of 17 years olds that literally no one with a brain would put in charge.
Also, we're told through this series that she's been trained to fight all her life, and as a royal alpha she's super strong, but the climax of both books is just her getting her ass kicked. It was a yawn, and she's very eyeroll.
In this book we see Elena and Mason in NYC after Elena stepped onto her place as Queen. From here we see her meet several Alphas with some crazy outcomes, and also the vampire prince who takes things to a whole other level. Will Elena and Mason make it through and become the leaders the wolves need plus also survive the wrath of the vampire prince. If you want to find out pick up a copy today you will not be disappointed it is an epic read.
This book picks up just after we left off in book one. More characters are introduced, Louis being a favorite. The book was a steady enjoyable read. There were no moments in which I lost interest or was bored, for lack of a better phrase. Just as in the first book there was a build up to the finale at the end of the book. I wish Elena was a bit more of a better fighter. She's trained for 12 years, I want to see assassin grade fighting from her in the future. I wish she had been the one to end the Prince also, especially after he was so confident about being victorious and because of what he did to her wolves. Good read though.

This is book# 2 in the series and I definitely don’t recommend reading it without reading book# 1 first. Elena has now been sworn in as queen and has to find her way with Mason by her side. Elena also has the attention of the vampire prince who declares war on her and all of the wolves. As she goes about reuniting the packs, the prince is always there causing trouble. Ella, her best friend is right there with her and her brother with her own sparkly personality. Also add in the king and prince of Europe’s visit and it gets very interesting. I will say I missed the banter of the first book between Elena and Mason. They danced around each other to much and it was all lovey dovey. I can’t wait to find out what happens in book# 3.

Elena seems like she can't catch a break. Someone is always trying to kill her and all she wants to do is take care of her people. I am happy that Mason stepped up to the plate to become the king. Can someone please put a muzzle on Ella?
Wolf Unleashed is the continuation of Jen L. Grey’s The Royal Heir Trilogy with Elena and Mason moving forward with their relationship and Elena stepping up to claim her heritage and with it the throne. Danger is lurking in the darkness as the vampire prince has made himself known and that he is on the path to come to an agreement with Elena in exchange for not harrying her and her wolves. But when Elena refuses to play by his rules, he turns his sights to the wolves that she will be sworn to protect as their leader until he gets what he wants one way or another. It’s time for Elena to come into her role and protect those that she cares about – known and unknown. Wolf Unleashed dives right into the storyline from the beginning. I actually had to backtrack briefly because I thought for a minute that I had missed something from the previous book somewhere because of how the story begins. Elena has already been crowned queen. Things are moving forward all around her as she begins the process of meeting with pack alphas to establish a bond. But…first things first, and that is dealing with the King from overseas. The storyline moves along pretty well and the author does a decent job keeping me engaged in the storyline. All the familiar characters are back, and some new ones are added in as well. Of course, there is drama, tension, romance, steamy moments galore and danger. I enjoyed book two, but not as much as I had hoped I would. I was really hoping that the author would pick up where book one left off and that we would get to experience the coronation ceremony. I was really hoping to see who would show up, and what might unfold with the royal heir reappearing and claiming the crown and throne. I thought that would have been a really interesting scenario to see play out, but that doesn’t happen. Instead, I feel that the book is full of a lot of…petty drama. I know that this book is a paranormal romance, but I felt that Elena and Mason seem more focused on sex than the problems at hand. They are constantly all over each other to the point it seems excessive. The constant repetition of “this isn’t over” or “we’ll finish this later” was a bit much. There is a real threat at hand, but half the time I wonder if they are really concerned since they seem more focused on getting into each other’s pants every chance they get. I enjoyed this book, but it doesn’t completely match up with what I was expecting to get from the blurb. I like the few surprises that happen in this book, but there are some moments/scenes that just don’t add up for me. I like that the fight scene is more dramatic in comparison to the first book, but the fight still ends in a weird way which leaves me with more questions than answers because it doesn’t really make sense. All in all, I am rating this book 4 out of 5 stars. I’m not too keen on some of the situations and how they are handled, and the attitudes throughout, but the book does keep me engaged in what is going on. I just wish that there had been more drama, danger and tension. The book ends with another cliffhanger, and I am curious to see where things go with the next book. If you enjoyed the first book and want to check this book out I encourage you to do so. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
Wolf Unleashed is the second book in the Royal Heir series and it was amazing! I thought I loved the first book, this book is even better, I devoured the story and I was finished much too soon.
Elena is the werewolf queen and while she is stepping up things aren't going smoothly. One of the things I love about Elena is that she is a loner on purpose she is strong and confident but so socially awkward and I know how that feels. However Elena is trying, she wants to be there for her people because she cares. There is so much on her shoulders and while she does listen to those around her she ultimately trusts her own judgment.
Seeing her struggle and overcome all the wrongs her uncle has done is interesting. Elena has a lot on her shoulders and she handling it well and so is Mason. I love how loving they are together, how they consider each so much and want to make sure the other is okay with everything that is going on but most of all I love how in there relationship they have a true partnership. Mason and Elena do things together, consult each other, have good banter together, lean on each other, and make decisions (mostly, haha) together. Whenever I read about fated mates (and that's exactly what they are) this is the type of relationship I picture.
Mason has had a big change in his life but he stands by Elena and he is starting to step into his new role. Mason is making decisions, participating in important meetings, and overall supporting Elena. Since mating Elena, Mason has shown his softer side, I liked him before but like him even more now especially when he and his sister startup. I love the relationship that Mason and Ella have, the sibling worry, teasing, and squawking at each other is adorable.
Ella has to be my favorite supporting character of all time. I know that is big but she is so funny, I laughed so much during this book and mostly because of her, and she has no filter. Ella says whatever comes to mind and she tells the truth without worrying about consequences and while at times that could be a pain mostly I loved it and I'm also thinking something similar so I can't help but love her, she just adds something to the story for me.
I am so glad for her presence and the presence of the other characters, usually, side characters kind fall off or aren't showed that often but the side characters in this story are very present and have clear personalities and add layers to the story. The family vibe I got from this book was so refreshing, yes Elena lost people but she has her guardians who raised her and now she has Mason and Ella's parents who full accepted her into their family, it was just so heartwarming and a little different than I'm used to.
Wolf Unleashed had such a good flow, I devoured this story. I loved every moment of it and was excited to see what would happen next. Werewolves and witches were already present since book one but now more supernaturals have made an appearance, magic is in play, more of the werewolf mythology is explained, werewolf politics and a couple of crazy plot twists make Wolf Unleashed highly entertaining.
So far I know that there are three books in the series and I have a feeling that the Royal Heir might just be the trilogy and if that is the case I am so not ready for this series to end and I am so excited to see what happens next all at the same time. It looks like things aren't settling down yet for Elena and Mason, Wolf's Claim is the next book in the series and I am so ready.

The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and graphic descriptions creating an elaborate backdrop that feels as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Jen, thanks for sharing this amazing thrill with us.
I truly enjoyed this first story in this series and could not wait to see which direction Elena's life would turn now that she'd taken up her position as Wolf Queen with Mason by her side as her fated mate. But her life overwhelms her when the European wolf king pays her a visit and leaves his son behind to learn from her. Or perhaps there are deeper reasons for his presence in court. And when continuing threats from the vampire prince put all of them in danger, she has to find the strength inside her to decide, whether she was born into it or not, if this is the path she should be taking and if she will survive long enough to decide.
I was so happy to see that Elena had gained so much more strength after all she'd been through in the first book. I love a strong heroine, and she is finally developing into this person. However, she's also headstrong and willful enough that she continues to take chances that put her in danger. That's the stuff of suspense, and it made this second book that much better. I look forward to seeing what new threat she faces in the third book.
I loved this story as much as I loved the first one. Jen Grey is a great writer and her imagination leaves me spellbound. Elena and Mason must prove their strength now that Elena has taken the crown from the man who killed her parents. Now she has to meet with all the packs under her crown and make connections with them so she can tell when they need help. The only thing causing issues is the vampire prince who wants royal blood. She does not want to give it to him so he is trying to kill her people. The vampire prince takes a hostage and things come to a head, who will die? I enjoyed this story, I tried to read it all in one shot but sleep was insistent. So I finished the following morning and was not disappointed in the least. I cant wait for the next book, keeps me guessing.

DNF. The YA is really present in this book. It’s like a bunch a teens on a power trip with no manners. I mean Elena invited the King of the European Wolves over and then just talk down to him, especially Ella, and they just take it. She’s the one that needs them...what the hell does he get out of meeting a bratty ass girl?? Nepotism. Girl’s not qualified...rule by her emotions.
Ella becomes extremely annoying in this book. The siblings banters are over used...I mean, wft are they? 15 yr olds?? Elena becomes your typical h, I must save everyone and everything, stick her nose in everyones’ business, I must sacrifice myself for stupid reason instead on consulting with my advisors. Making rash decisions with thinking about the consequences. Characters just went down hill. World building in this book is lacking. Doesn’t keep my interest.
Elena has stepped up to take her rightful place as queen. Very little time for her to get comfortable with the Vampire Prince stalking her and attacking her people.
Love the characters. Elena for all her reluctance to be the queen takes to the job naturally. Her very nature draws the others to her as she demonstrates that she is very hands on and will protect her people. Mason is a strong alpha who has no intention of overshadowing his mate. He just wants to be there to support her.
Looking forward to the next book.

Elena is now the Queen and is trying to do what needs to be done with her mate, Mason, by her side. Both are trying to make the necessary adjustments to fill their new roles. Elena is trying to reunite the packs and is making personal visits to establish her presence and gain their loyalty. She also has drawn the attention of the vampire prince who never hesitates to cause her trouble.
This was an active story that kept the reader’s attention. I can’t wait to read more about Ella because she definitely keeps the pot stirring here with her unfiltered opinions! But it adds fun and unpredictability to the story, so it’s all good!
Learning to be queen. Elena is now the Queen and she and Mason are meeting with the alpha leaders of the other packs and pledging their support and assistance if needed. But a new threat has arisen. The Vampire Prince Nicholas wants her royal blood. Her unscrupulous uncle had agreed to it in the past but her royal blood is an addiction to the vampires, and she can’t allow it. Now he’s targeting shifters and she and her mate and friends must put a stop to him. But Prince Nicholas has build up an army of vampires. Will she be successful? Great Book. Elena has more to face than she thought after the death of her uncle. By accepting the position as Queen of the wolves, she is finding out that plans were made when she was a child. But her mate, Mason, is who she will only accept. Elena decides that she needs to go meet all the Alphas of the other packs to let them know that she is not like her uncle. During this time, a lot of things happen. The Prince of the Vampires tries to get Elena to make a deal with him and she tells him no. Then he tries to make her change her mind but you will have to read the book to see all the things he tries to make her change her mind.
This is not the worst series about wolf shifters but certainly it’s not the best. The characters are so childish. Ella is insufferable, annoying and dumb. The triangle between Louis, Alec and her is unbelievable. In the first book she told Elena that she was once in love but he had found his true mate. Then in this book she has been in love with Alec for years so which one is the true. I really hate when authors don’t follow their stories. Elena is also quite annoying. The plot is sometimes boring and the situations are quite impossible. I’ll trucos to finish the series but I’m unsure if I’ll be able to read the whole book if it’s like this one.
The author’s writing style is easy to follow and read. I appreciate her views so much that I wish this book could have been drawn out into 2, giving me more details to the days and nights after becoming queen and other relationship progress with Elena and mason, Ella and even thought it was weird the King didn’t come after his son submit to Elena, nor did he come visit after a brush with death (again). I wanted to know more about the vampire prince but that’s was probably on purpose and maybe would have taken away from the main characters. Onto book 3!
I think I'm stopping this series here. It's decent enough and a nice palette cleanser, but just not for me. I still feel like information is missing and honestly was more interested in the Alec, Ella (though, I hate Ella), Prince whatshisname love triangle than the main couple.
I also feel like we were missing information again. Not to mention the last gasp "please take my blood" move by the Vampire Prince, but we never knew WHY he wanted to save her because he was killed right at that moment. There are just a lot of confusing things, but not confusing enough to make me want to continue reading.
I think this was an excellent next book in the series. Elena's strength and devotion comes across throughout and she makes one heck of a queen. Once Elena took down her uncle the job wasn't done. Now that she is Queen, she has to work to unite the packs of America, survive vampires that have a penchant for her blood, and avoid her betrothed. Elena has a lot she has to adjust to with being royalty again, but Darren's misdealings cause more trouble than she had anticipated.
Wolf Unleashed is book 2 in the series and takes off where we were left in book one. This means it is necessary to read this series in order.
Elena and Mason are struggling with the roles they have as Queen and future King. Can they overcome the struggles with vampires fighting them and the odds against them surviving? Read to see what happens when Elena and Mason decide they are worthy of each other and they want the best for their packs. Expect side characters you want as friends, action, betrayal and love.
Jen L. Grey did a good job on Wolf Unleashed, it was a strong addition to this series. The plot was written well, it was packed with many emotions. The characters were stronger than ever. Elena and Mason's journey hasn't been the easiest but they were made for each other, their bond, the connection between them was strong, they were good together. Elena was a fighter, she'd do what she had to. This was a good story, looking forward to reading more of this series. Thanks, Jen L. Grey. Good work :)
We have emotions, trust issues, self esteem issues, suspense, and much more. Elena is now Queen, but can she handle it? Will the other Alpha's accept her? Will her mate Mason rule by her side? Will he want to be King? Who is this Vampire Prince that is out to destroy her? Can she help save Mason's mom? What is this the King of Europe is saying about me and his son? What is she going to do? Can't wait for the next book to see where everything goes?

Was not impressed with this installment. Again, fast paced. Connections to characters weren't good. The story line was so/so. How things wrapped up literally happened so fast I had no clue how we got from point A to point B.
Not sure where the author is going with Prince Louis and Ella; Ella was still annoying.
Mason's character made a better impression with himself being more assertive.
Elena, meh. She was ok. Nothing bad but nothing good.
Since I've made it this far I have to finish the series, so here we go.
This is book two and it picks up were book one left off. Elene is coming into her own as Queen she's still strong willed and Mason her mate is learning what it means to be her King. They will receive a visit from European Royalty and Louis a Vampire Prince will make and attempt to get at Elene he says its just blood or is it something else there first meeting is intense and dosen't go so well what plan is he brewing and how will it effect Elene and Mason.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
Mason & Elana make my blood boil. I need more of them in my life! Please tell me you're going to tell Louis & Ella's story or do a spinoff based on them. The vampire prince was so twisted. Every supernatural knows that vampires and werewolves don't mix! I think Ella was a little too upset over Alec disappearing. If I had found my mate I would be more into sealing the deal, if you know what I mean. I might feel guilty, but I wouldn't let it keep me from my destiny. Love all the heartfelt talks Ella & Spans have to wake each other up.
Her books are all really good she has a way of carrying us through the journey of her worlds. Each series are intertwined and in the same realm. I am currently reading every book she has written. The series she has created can be read as stand alone I would recommend starting at the beginning each 3 books has their own story of 1 person. She created a realm that connects that is good they all end up being part of the larger story. Find the list in the back of her books or online to find out where to start.highly recommend.
One sitting read. Elena is facing the reality of being a queen. More politics and appearances than she wants. Mason is becoming aware his spot by her side comes with more than he bargained for. The vampires make a stand again Elena in this one as she tries to meet all the packs. I did love Louis. I think in the next one his mate will give him more issues than in this one. Looking forward to see that happen as well as another big bad coming for Elena and the group.
This one was short and sweet and an easy read compared to the first one, though it has not changed my opinion on trilogies. Not to be read by it's lonesome. Get the whole series or you miss out on the actual story overall.... that being said. where's book 3 already? Character growth didn't leave me wanting so that's good. And without dropping all the spoilers, I feel like Elena should have had the last word in some of this. It was a bit unfair, but thus is the way of the world.
