The job just got a lot more complicated!

Dev is a man in conflict. While he may have captured Nolan and prevented him from selling any more of the Coalition’s secrets, doing so caused him to come close to violating his own personal code of conduct. Now he’s not sure he can trust himself anymore. He fears he’s becoming too similar to the criminals he’s had to partner up with.

But Nolan holds another secret: one that has the potential to disrupt the power balance in the Sargan Commonwealth. Thanks to one of Nolan’s associates, Dev and the crew know where to find this technology and who might be using it, but it requires venturing deep into Sargan territory, a world of true lawlessness.

Despite this, Dev is determined not to let Nolan get the better of him. But as he continues along this path, he can feel himself slipping. Dev never thought he’d find himself on this side of the law, and he’s not sure he’s going to like what he finds once he reaches the end of this road.

"Rule with a gracious hand, not an iron fist."
Intriguing, eye-opening, poignant, thought provoking, and at times even laugh-out-loud funny, this premise was an excellent read, and I loved it!
I have to admit, Dev, the main character had me disconcerted from his hard-headed decisions, his unrelenting desire to see the villain brought to justice, abiding the law. The inner turmoils and fighht between what is legal as government laws dictate and what is morally correct is the storyline that bases the foundation of the plot. “What’s right doesn’t always mean what’s legal. Or fair.” A good Crew, Even if they were all damaged in their own way. The down to Earth/planet characters-both humans and Aliens are so realistic, with their own flaws and have their own points of view which I've greatly appreciated, it's character driven, with an excellent storyline and plot, fast paced, suspenseful, filled with unsuspecting venues.
.Eric Warren manages to create an odd amalgamation of conspiracy interlaced with an innate hope. The way he writes is truly engaging, with characters who immediately draw you in with their genuine likability and good humour.
The technology involved is fascinating as always, I liked the concept of genetic therapy, it would be wonderful if this tech really existed! I'm so looking forward to reading Road to Redemption #3! I highly recommend this series!

Received as an ARC copy, this is an honest review. Devren may have accomplished the initial task that brought him to the Commonwealth: capture Nolan and his co- conspirators as well but it's not the end of his job... only the beginning. Entara and the translocator device are still out there in the vast Sargan Commonwealth; this time Devren hopes to close his case. His continual quest will warp into a dangerous obsession that will embroil the crew of the Mettle that could bring deadly consequences if Devren fails to understand that the Sargan Commonwealth runs radically different than the Coalition. Another issue haunts the crew: the poor souls trapped in stasis being traded to secure their chances of getting close to Entara wrecks Dev's law- abiding balance he's desperate to hold onto. When the fateful encounter with Entara happens, Devren believes... finally he's job is finished as he takes Entara and her allies into justice; but his ideals are undercut as what Entara is truly doing is understood. Devren may have to compromise his training as he confronted with a stark truth that he thought he knew. Is seeking justice is it worth the sacrifice of individuals to uphold the laws regardless of the cost it brings. The Planetary Con is an immense, thought provoking journey that will have the reader puzzling over the tough questions it invokes in a masterful way. Highly recommended.

This is another cracking book in Eric Warren's new series.

Devren Tenebris was searching for Nolan Mit'shuna, the thief of Coalition technology. He found and captured him and others. But, it's not enough. Dev's obsession with finding the technology causes him so much strife. So much so, that he's not sure of anything any more. Working for the Coalition, things are either good or bad, and orders are orders. Dev had his morals and values which were as solid as concrete.

He now feels like a criminal, he thinks like one, and he's going to have to go deep into criminal territory to put things right. It's like criminal behaviour vs what the Coalition stands for vs morally correct values. Confused? So is Dev. He'll pull the crew of the 'Mettle' along with him, and let Nolan get under his skin...much to the chagrin of some of them. Dev is putting everyone in a dangerous position. Will it be worth it? Find out for yourself.

Another fantastic book full of twists, turns, dives and peaks, and you'll get a little tear in your eye many times. (Unless you are a stone.) It's well-written with a riveting storyline, and excellent characterisations. The reader feels for these people, for their dilemmas, and the author really knows how to press your emotive buttons.

Loving this new series, and this is a very easy five stars. I can't wait for the rest!

I chose an early copy of this book which I then voluntarily read and honestly reviewed. All opinions are my own.

Received as an ARC copy, this is an honest review. While the mission to capture Nolan was successful, he has more things in the wind.

Dev and Traxia are back and along with the crew of The Mettle, they are still hunting Nolan, which is bozarre as they caught him at the end of the last book, and his Coalition technology. They find out that it can transport people instantaneously from one place to another and in the wrong hands, such as the Sargon Commonwealth, this could be very problematic.

Dev is still all justice above everything else, which spells out a lot of trouble for some random unlucky people as well as the crew. Traxia, is far too understanding for her own good, Rep is finding out that life isn't always rosy, Dask, well he's just got the permanent hump, Three, is Three and Ful has some trust issues, which causes their own problems!

The chase is on and even with Nolan being aboard The Mettle, they are thwarted, aided and generally confused by Dessa, once a colleague of Dev's and a conspirator of Nolan's and someone who is generally very confused about her loyalties.

Our heroes/kind of, are about to face another Sargan Warlord, some ethical choices and a whole lot of gunfire. Will Dev sort his loyalties out? Will Traxia do what is right by all her crew of just a few? Will Rep ever finish the game? Will Dask's secrets come out? Will Ful spoil everyone's fun? Will Dessa decide whose side she's on? All these and other questions will be answered, well probably not int his book, but almost certainly across the series. Best keep reading on then!

A great start to this series, let's hope Dev and his Crew last as long as Cas and his.
