I live only a few miles from a flourishing Amish community and am blessed to count many Old Order Amish as friends. Love Finds You In Sugarcreek, Ohio is a natural outgrowth of my on-going fascination with these valiant, flawed people who struggle to live their lives according to their interpretation of the Bible. Once, when I apologized for asking so many questions while researching this book, an Amish father told me that I could ask anything I wanted. “Nothing is forbidden,” he said. He told me that he wanted my book to be accurate. I was thrilled when his family read it and gave me their enthusiastic nod of approval.

Our family, however, also lived for many years in Michigan. My father, a sawyer, told me stories he had heard from old timber men who had cut the fabled giant pine in the Saginaw Valley. Visiting museums and reading about the years directly after the Civil War, when Michigan became the lumber capitol of the world, became a hobby. I was delighted when Revell Publishing allowed me to revisit that era by writing The Measure Of Katie Calloway.

There are many other books on their way—both Amish and historical. Please know that each one is a labor of love from me to you.

To God be all the glory, forever.

Serena

Bertha’s Resolve is a touching story taking readers back to Bertha’s younger years when she followed her heart to Haiti to serve as a nurse. Bertha was a strong lady filled with compassion, dedication and faith even though she left her Amish community to fill what God placed upon her heart. This story is a split time line, well written with dimensional characters and a true picture of serving the underprivileged with a heart of love. Bertha’s story brought tears as well as joy to my soul.

I won a copy of this book from the author in a live Facebook chat of multiple authors about their upcoming collection release in November 9, 2021. I was under no obligation to write a review but have shared my own thoughts.

Of the 4 books in this series, this one really touched me. If you've read any of the previous books, you know Bertha has a very strong will. She is a protector, a problem-solver and faithful to serve. Reading her backstory was so touching and real that I wanted to reach into the book and give Bertha a huge hug!

I enjoyed the past and present narrative approach the author took with this story. I thought it flowed very well and kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next.

We immediately meet Calvin and his relative, Alex. All isn't quite right and it doesn't take Rachel and her aunts long to find a way to befriend these two newcomers in Sugarcreek. Rachel and Joe and still adjusting to family life and all the changes seem to bring up memories from Bertha's past that she doesn't welcome. This is truly the golden thread in this tapestry!

If you haven't read books 1-3, I highly recommend starting from the beginning to truly appreciate the beauty in book 4. Each book is written so that the reader can pick up any of the books and begin reading, but this family has so much to share you'll want to start with book 1.

Bertha’s Resolve The Love’s Journey in Sugarcreek in Series by Serena B Miller
First let me say if you have the chance to visit Sugarcreek, Ohio please take it as this place is a special place. Now as far as this book it’s the fourth book in the series and I really hope it won’t be the last I am so happy with this series and can’t tell you how much I love this story line. Serena Miller has a way of writing that draws you in and before you know it your right there with the characters as if they are your dearest friends, Bertha and her story touched my heart, her love for family and those she is in charge of shows just how one can lead a life through faith no matter how difficult it may be. This storyline has heartbreak, unrest, and love. All in all you will as I did find yourself excited for every turn of a page and disappointed when you realized that oh no I’m at the end! I pray we will see many many more in this series as I am in no way ready to say goodbye to Sugarcreek and these characters.
Please read this series I know you will enjoy it.

Bertha's Resolve is the fourth installment in The Love's Journey in Sugar Creek series written by Serena B. Miller. The characters are amazing and very likeable. The storyline which steps back in time throughout the story makes for a great read. I enjoyed getting to know Bertha's story from beginning to end. I also enjoyed meeting a few new characters and those from previous books.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Loved Bertha's Resolve

Wonderful story. Realistic and spiritually challenging. Betty's story handles difficult situations with delicacy and honesty. Almost sorry to read the ending. I sure hope there is at least another novel ahead

The last book in the series brings full circle the lives of the Troyer and Mattias families. It fills in a lot of the reasons for Bertha's actions. Enjoyed going back in time with her and dealing with the families current issues.
