"I'm not capable of love, human."
"I don't believe you, gladiator."
When she's abducted from Earth and sent to a hellish prison where she's forced to sing the gladiator fights, Jessica knows almost immediately which gladiator she'll be singing for.
If she has to have a protector and a prison mate, it's going to be the big Corsikavan with the haunting silver eyes and the scarred face.

Since Tarik's escape, Raath is the best of the Sikoda Prison gladiators, and the wardens want to give him a female who will help him survive the brutality of the gladiator's life. He has four years left on his sentence--and four years is a long time when one's spirit starts to die.

He needs Jess as much as she needs him.

But with a fondness for human females and enthralled by Jessica's voice, Warden Kavath dives headlong into his madness and becomes obsessed with the little human songstress. And if Raath is defeated--killed--fairly in a battle, Kavath thinks he can have her.

Will the secret network of people be able to free Raath and Jessica in time, or will Kavath succeed in getting rid of the gladiator and taking the human for himself?

The story, and above all the story in connection with book #1 Tarik is great.
The development was fast, the twists and turns surprising and so good.

Sometimes a bit too fast and superficial, Raath was not tangible enough for me and Jessica was pragmatic and direct in her decisions according to the circumstances, but not always comprehensible for me. Of course it is hard to get a picture of the situation when you have a silent hero with few possibilities to explain actions.
What Raath could not give, Jessica had to overcompensate, in a world and society unknown to her. Even though Yhorik tried to give support, definitely good, but also just that.

I love the idea and design of the story, the structure and the connections and the interesting perspective, it is very well written, fluent and brutal harshness alternates with emotional vulnerability.

Will I read the next book in the series - definitely, for sure!

Ok story

Another female main character who is annoying and causes harm to her mate. One moment he is the center of her world and the next she gives no thought to his pain and injuries, just so she can have sex. This is the second book in the series and it seems to be the theme. The alien falls in love with the human and she is totally self centered.

Ok clichê like hell but soooo good !!! Who doesn’t like a old good clichê ? I’ll probably read the next one about Vyce too because duh he looks like a great guys hahaha And guy...Jessica is my spirit animal really !!! The gurl was like fuc*ing kidnapped by aliens and was like ok keep calm and go on hahaha soooo smart !!! We don’t have crap in this book or a damsel in distress, it’s like a saying that my mother taught me a long time ago “If you’re in hell , hug the Devil” and Jessica do literally this , she saw she was fuc*ed and was going to have to be with a gladiator anyways so she picked the more badass of them all , yeah gurl you’re a fuc*ing genius.
“This gladiator is not going to be easy. He’s not going to be soft.
But one way or the other, he’s going to be mine”
“Once I make up my mind about something, I’m all in. Honestly, there’s no better offer in sight. No better mate. No stronger protector. And if I have to have one of them, I want it to be him

Now about Raath he’s simply , brooding because duh! They’re always brooding hahaha it’s practically pre requisite , but he’s like every morally gray hero or anti-hero ? Anyways you get my point nothing new and all , alone brooding , hot like hell male that is the most badass of all the others , is a killer too and thinks doesn’t deserves happiness because duh !! He’s brooding hahahaha .

Dark alien PNR with very mature themes

Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as kidnapping, abduction, torture, assault, rape, murder, fighting, etc.

This is the second in the series, and while it could probably be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend it be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are reoccurring characters and an overall storyline arc.

The Sikoda prison is run by several wardens, one of which is slowing losing his mind, and is known to covet certain human female slaves brought to the planet for their best gladiators. In the first story, he became attached to Tarik’s mate before they escaped. This has caused his mind to further slip.

Then she came ... Jessica, a female abducted from earth that has a voice of an angel. She is made to sing during the fights and is won by Raath after he defeats the other unmated gladiators. Unfortunately her voice also impacts the crazy warden and he wants her for himself ... so all he has to do is set Raath up to die in the arena.

As stated above this series contains very dark content. I enjoyed it because it shows the resilience of humans, that where there is life there is hope and of course there are the large scary aliens that are also protective, dominant and will do anything for those they love.

Jess Kennedy is a famous singer on earth and it doesn’t take long before the aliens catch on to her talent. In fact they put her to work immediately.

Raath is closed off and very self protective. He doesn’t need anybody and he doesn’t like the idea of a woman making him vulnerable. But Jess doesn’t seem to care. She will love him enough for the both of them.

I couldn’t put this down. I loved how optimistic Jess was. She had a sweet, romantic outlook on life and their situation that was all wrapped up with innocence. It was hard not to fall in love with her. But Raath resisted it. It was heartbreaking but it made the story so much better. I loved that angst.

And it was all made worth it in the end. Because when they are finally out of that hell Raath becomes a different person. He spouts romantic sentences and smiles and lets his guard down so fast. He becomes the person that is made for Jess so fast. I loved it.

I love it when an author uses real songs in their book to convey feelings. This book had a great soundtrack.

I'll start off by saying, these books will not be to everyone's cup of tea. There is rape, violence, and lots of steamy sex. Although there were some things I didn't enjoy, I did finish and liked the book overall. There is sexual abuse towards the h and the H is powerless to help her, but he got more opportunities than Tarik to show how much it bothered him. Just like in the first book the attraction on the h's side felt a little sudden, but I think it was explained as a "matehood" she could feel after being scratched. I think there could have been more there to help a reader see it.

Overall, it was a great read with steamy scenes. Madison knows how to draw you in, even if it can be hard to watch the h get abused by the villain. I actually may have enjoyed this one slightly better than the first. Can't wait for more!

So, Tarik was a great read, Raath is even better!

Music has and will always be a big part of my life. That this book incorporates it in such a big way is awesome. I love that Jessica uses her voice to not only empower her gladiator but to help soothe the others too. I have to say that this one almost, almost makes me feel something more than disgust or rage for Warden Kavath. I still want him to die a terrible death but he does try to keep Jessica from the Triganarods. Yhorik, dear Yhorik, I love him so hard! This is one of those books that end and I am thinking nooooooo, it can't be over! I am so looking forward to Vice.

Dark and deviously delicious

I enjoyed Raath's story. An alien of few words, guarded. I loved the fiestiness of Jessica. I actually laughed out loud a few times at her antics. The warden....there are no words. He has gone off the rails. I looked up your italicized words and found some interesting new content. Thanks for that. Can't wait to read the next story and I hope that Yhorik gets his own story and love. The crazy one remains adding a whole other level of danger and scary. Wonder who he was before....Anyways, great series, with equal parts, danger, excitement, and heat.

human and alien

a prison, a warden, a glaciation, a human, a caregiver, which of these well become the slave, the free person, the warrior, the crazy psycho? when Jessica is stolen from earth little did she know her voice would be her salvation. when a crazy man hears her sing just before she is offered to the last standing gladiator, her world is transformed. The gladiator Raath falls for her heavenly voice but so does the psychotic warden. who lives, who dies and who goes free??? have to read to figure that one question out.

Raath is a strong warrior

This author writes strong women in a great way for the alien abduction troupe. The women show strength and smarts but also vulnerability and fear. The female in this book is Jessica and she is a wonderful singer. Her voice draws many which is a danger in itself. Raath wins the unfair fights so now Jessica belongs to him and he accepts her. The problem is Warden Kaavth because Jessica’s voice brings him calmness that nothing else does. Read On!

Raath is a strong tough gladiator. He has four years left of his ten years. He has seen it and fought it. He isn’t wanting a women but he gets Jessica. She picks him. Her voice is what this world hasn’t seen and the sick warden wants her bad. He is a sick f*ck. I cannot wait to see him fall. They are perfect for each other Raath and Jessica. They are a fuse lit every time they are near each other.

Drool worthy aliens

Dang, this was a very well written book. The second in the series and I am eagerly awaiting the next installment. Raath I feel your pain, the way he tried to hold himself emotionally distant from Jessica the human was quietly understandable considering his imprisonment. Jessica's voice and life for her man leave you wanting to know more..

brutal

but sweet. one aspect of the series that i really enjoy is the instant acceptance of the ladies. drawn out histrionics and human stubborness tend to be a little overdone in the alien abduction trope-it was refreshing to see a heroine acknowledge the situation and try to make the best of it. hoping for happy endings for our covert gladiator assistance team.

Loved the addition of a playlist

Good solid storyline. Easy read. Easy to get into and easy to attach to the characters (and despise the bad guy). I actually really really loved creating the musical playlist to listen to along with reading it. It was refreshing and did not detract from the read.

A solidly written story!

I enjoyed reading about the abduction of Jessica and how she ends up with Raath, a huge gladiator trapped in a prison world to fight in their pit. Jessica and Raath seem to be in a doomed relationship but find ways to seek solace in each others embrace. The story is cleverly written and I enjoyed it.

I liked this book. Going in, I was scared it would be a lot like the first book and, while they did have a similar plot, there still were enough differences to make this one unique. It did get a bit insta-lovey at one point, but I was able to get over that quickly. Otherwise, this was a pretty good installment and did set up a few things for the next book.

Songbird

Wish the afterward section was a bit longer. Would have loved a view of their lives after six months.

Not as dark as first book. But still violent, and many abuses against females. So recommend you skip if you have triggers about that.

Hope the next book shows more about the wardens daughter, and her mother. Would like a book with her as the lead character

Such a rollercoaster ride

Love this series. You get the horror of being abducted, crammed in a small hold with other abductees, sold off to a prison and a number of males fight for you, the Prize. But along the way you find love and friends and a being who is obsessed with you. Isn't life fun?

I just couldn't get into this. The heroine has no personality and is self centered and boring and the hero fell flat. The smut is just ok and her weird relationship / friendship with the attendant didn't work for me (like girl, he's literally one of your jailors, he's not your bestie, get it together!)

Overall the story just felt rushed and was not what I was expecting.

Need more!!!

This has become a new favorite series of mine. I could not put this book down and I finished it within a day. I hope there are more books than just 3. The only recommendation I have is I do wish we could have some of the H's POV throughout the series.

Brutal, but oh so good!

Jessica is a famous singer that is abducted, her head shaved, and given to a gladiator. Raath is the best gladiator on the planet and he wins Jess. This book is brutal, violent, no rape or anything, but it is mentioned. It is so good! Read these in order!
